    My rooftop set up.

Convinced by countless ads, texts, fb, and emails. Finally got it connected last November. Only a little better than my previous att, and most of the time aren't great! Can't really recommend it yet until they improved my internet connection and speed. Sigh Updates on 4/16/20 It's getting worse nowadays. Checked with several different internet speed tests confirmed our situation. Sigh!!!

I finally "pulled the plug" on Common Networks. The tech who took down the antenna and collected my equipment, Amari, turned out the be the same person who installed the antenna when i first started out. The techs and other staff are really the only reason why I didn't give below three stars in my reviews. In terms of actual internet performance, it was obviously not a good experience overall since I've discontinued my service. I think I was Common for nearly half a year and there really was only a span of about 4-5 weeks where I had trouble free service. Other than that, I have a long history of emails to the support department and terrible speed tests. There seems to be so many good recent reviews, so I don't really understand what happened. It's possible that our requirements are just a lot higher than what Common can provide or maybe our location was just unfortunate. Anyway, from my personal experience, it would take a lot for me to sign up again, such as 5G, but like the multi-Gig version that we keep reading about. Not one that requires an antenna and caps at 75-100mbps. Anyway, we're back with "you know who" and I have to say, pretty hassle free even though we're paying nearly 3X, but for our situation it's a requirement. For out situation, we can't compromise on stability and speed.

Don't ever use their service as your IPS. You can't get hold of anybody and it will take days before they respond to your issue.

Ask the Community - Common Networks

Is antenna installed on the roof or where?

On the roof. Because it's a mesh network the details will vary, but it'll typically have several round antennas pointing in different directions on a mast about 3' tall. They run an Ethernet cable from the antenna to a power supply, and then to the… Read more

Virtual Assistant SUCKS and is a total waste of time....Live Chat is a slight improvement, a phone call, just slightly better....BUT nothing compares to a "live, in-person service rep" if you can have one as exceptional as Teonna...."Thank you" for all your help today...you ARE "the BEST"...!!!

He didn't acknowledge that I was already being helped or excuse himself--he just left mid-conversation. It felt very dismissive and rude. On top of that, the store was extremely loud and felt unorganized, which made the experience even more frustrating. I ended up walking out because I didn't feel valued as a customer. Basic courtesy and communication go a long way, and this experience fell short.

The disruptions are frequent and too many times have made my home server unreachable while traveling. Most of the time the service resumes, but on occasion I've had to have a neighbor or relative enter my home and reset the connection for me. Super effing inconvenient! Also, there is no roadmap for connections faster than 1 Gigabit, even while even more worthless competitors like Xfinity and AT&T offer 2.5 and even 5 Gigabit. And lastly, they increased their rates a few months ago. They offered a discount if you paid for a year in advance, but offered no way to do that online. It wasn't until I contacted customer service, that they gave me the details of how to do so: by writing a physical check and sending it to a physical address, no ACH or Credit Card options (which are available to those who pay monthly). Like, I'm boomer AF, so I still have a few checks laying around, but who else in 2025 still has a checkbook? When it works, I'm grateful, but internet service is binary. I just need it to work. Always. And it doesn't. End of story.

We worked with Ryan, who was able to answer all our questions. Their monthly rate is 1/2 what we paid for Xfinity. It's only been a week, but our internet has not dropped once. Moises, the installer, arrived on time and did the entire installation himself in about 4 hours. He first set up a temporary antenna to check the download and upload speeds. Our speed was even better than what they had quoted. Once the antenna was set up on our roof, a cable is then connected to an outlet in our house. Once we set up our routers, everything worked seamlessly. Moises didn't leave until we confirmed that all of our devices were connected. If you live in the Fremont or neighboring areas, I highly recommend Tekify for your internet service.
