It's a good brunch place probably better for meat eaters but we didn't try any. Service is good and the food was flavorful.
Avoid at All Costs Because Joey Another bad review for Joey, the condescending and grumpy owner who goes out of his way to humiliate his own staff and customers. (Just search "Joey" in the reviews.) Forgot to finish this review, but my wife reminded me not to dine here when we visit this July 2026. In May of 2024, friends of mine came by to visit with me, my wife, and my daughter. We love Solvang and chose to dine here because of a fine experience we had in 2022: we had a great baseball steak and good service with the otherwise fantastic old school ambiance. But that was before Joey. During check in, Joey decided to mumble some audible nonsense about being smart enough to read the sign, and the feeling was that he was judging my company for the sneakers and shirt he was wearing. I think Joey thinks he's got money and has license to treat diners like crap. I read the disaster reviews about Joey, and I pray for your soul. (Nonetheless, I write this review as a warning because free speech.) But I can guarantee that my friend is a quite well off restaurateur without the need for partners, and I think we are all doing quite fine compared to Joey's clearly bankrupt sense of common decency showcased over many years apparently. We have been to some of the most ridiculously expensive restaurants and hotels in the world, and the service was top notch. To be mistreated at a place without even a star is laughable. Do not recommend. To the manager and the wait staff, I'm sorry you have to deal with this.
*Brunch Review* We ordered shrimp cocktail, this was the best we have ever had. They were cleaned well and came with an amazing avocado shrimp cocktail sauce that was so good! It also came with fried crackers. I didn't like them, but my husband loved them. The french toast looked amazing, I will have to try next time. My husband got eggs Benedict. He loved it. The English muffins were house made, delicious sauce, thinly sliced ham, poached eggs perfectly cooked. I got fish and chips. The chips were malted wedge potatoes. It seemed like normal wedge potatoes, i didnt taste any malted flavor. The fish was rockfish. It was definitely fresh, really good, you could almost taste the sea. The batter was very very light and crunchy. They only thing I would say is it was a little oily. The tartar sauce was good, nothing unusual. There was a side of fresh greens, not cole slaw. They were very lightly dressed and exceptionally fresh, like just picked from someone's garden. If you love cole slaw you may be disappointed, if you love fresh greens you will be happy. My husband got a bloody Mary. It was quite tasty. Spicy and you could taste the horseradish. The olives were really good (I'm an olive lover). Coffee was excellent. Jared was our server and he was amazing. We had constant refills of our coffee and water from the staff. The patio was very nice and perfect for people watching. I loved the BTG wine list. I will come back to the bar again for shrimp cocktail and a Whitcraft wine (my fav pinots).
What an amazing dinner at Coast Range. We were welcomed by the friendly and professional Reina sat us at a lovely booth. Ciana and Ella took great care of us with Kye and Abraham assisting. We started with drinks and appetizers. My wife had the Gin cocktail and I had an amazing Margarita recommended by Ciana. We also ordered the buttered rolls and the grilled artichoke. Simply amaging and what a wonderful and therapeutic ambiance. For our entrees my wife had the Tapioca crusted snapper entree and I had the filet mignon with a side of the potatoe puree and spinach crusted delight. Oh my so good and alot of food. We ended up taking some home for tomorrow. Ella was so sweet helping us put everything in containers etc. The still bottled water was also refreshing as was the iced tea that I had after my drink. Such a wonderful setting and a terrific presentation of the dishes that we ordered. We did not order dessert but Ciana surprised us with a lovely sweet celebration dessert. So good. Great people, food, service and ambiance. Highly recommended
We went on a Friday morning and it wasn't busy at all. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. The service was good, not as observant since there was only 1 server and she was behind the bar most of the time. It looked like she was working as hostess, server, and bartender? So she was doing amazing balancing all of those. Other than that the food was great. The chips were pretty soggy at the start for the chilaquiles so not sure if it was sitting out for a while before she brought it out. The sandwich was good too, just wasn't warm when it was first brought out either.
Brunch at Coast Range completely lived up to the hype and honestly, this place deserves every bit of its Michelin recognition. The food feels thoughtful without trying too hard, and every dish had so much flavor packed into it. The Crispy Pork Belly Sandwich was the standout for me. The gochujang Coca Cola glaze gave it that perfect sweet and savory balance, while the snap pea slaw added freshness and crunch. And somehow the brown butter cashew butter tied everything together in the best way possible. The Wagyu Pastrami Sandwich was just as memorable, rich, juicy, and super satisfying. The Swiss cheese, horseradish cream, sauerkraut aioli, and beef jus all worked so well together without overpowering the wagyu. We also ordered the strawberry lemonade and lavender lemonade, which were both super refreshing and perfect for brunch. And to end the meal, the sticky toffee pudding was absolutely exquisite. Warm, soft, rich, and easily one of the best desserts I've had in a while. I would honestly suggest not sharing it lol. Definitely one of those brunch spots where you leave already thinking about your next visit.
My family and I checked out Coast Range for dinner on our first night in Solvang. We were really impressed by the Michelin Star stickers in the window for the last 4 years - that had to mean something! We were seated right away as we had arrived a few minutes after they opened. The inside was dark, but cozy. For drinks, I ordered the Vaquero Martini which was pretty good and my husband ordered an Old Fashioned - we thought it was very strange that it came in a glass with a bunch of ice instead of a giant cube or sphere. The food items were a bit pricy so my husband and I decided to split some appetizers - Artichokes, French Onion Soup and the Skirt Steak. We ordered the Kids Bolognese Pasta which our daughter loved - I wish my husband and I could have said the same thing about what we ordered. I did enjoy the French Onion Soup the best, but we have made much better artichokes at home and the skirt steak was barely seasoned. Overall, staff were very friendly, but the food was not worth the price point at all in our opinion. Everything was honestly mid - we had high hopes considering all of the Michelin Star recognitions. I know we only ordered appetizers, but we thought it would have given us a little taste of everything. I'm not sure if we came on an off day, but if we're ever in Solvang again, Coast Range will not be a restaurant we rush to unfortunately.
We made a reservation prior to going. The staff greeted us very nicely, the waitress, waiters and servers were all extremely kind. I would definitely return to this establishment. The drinks were evenly proportioned to the taste. We ordered old fashions and margarita. The food was extremely delicious the steak and mushroom, the beef stroganoff, chicken cordon blu and the kids steak and fries. It is a slightly pricey restaurant but well worth it! Great please to celebrate something special. The vibes and music were amazing I have nothing but great things to say about this establishment.
My sister and I went to Solvang for the weekend. There's not many places open late lucky for us Coast Range was open. The restaurant gives you a little bit of back in the day feel along with a bit of luxury. We ordered the beef stroganoff and rigatoni. Both were delicious, however my favorite out of the two was the rigatoni. We got sparkling water as I was driving. They have a fill bar and wine list. We were so full but wanted to try dessert. Therefore we took it to go. The waitress was right the donuts are different and delish. Our waitress was excellent she stopped by to check in and did not rush us to order. Thank you!
Great service! The food was so good. Everything was fresh and brought out as soon as it was done. We got the Oysters, Lobster tail, French onion soup, and the Beef Stroganoff.
This was my first Michelin-star restaurant, and it definitely lived up to the experience. The ambiance was beautiful, with both outdoor and indoor seating options. We chose to sit outside although the inside felt cozy, intimate, and perfect for a date night. Our server was a bit serious, but still very attentive and kind. We came for brunch, and everything was packed with flavor. The kids' bolognese pasta was absolutely incredible. we ended up eating most of it before our own dishes even arrived. Every plate was delicious, and honestly, I wish I had saved room for dessert.
We were warmly greeted and promptly seated in a cozy booth. There is a delightful charm to the decor. Clearly the executive chef favors a menu with a few items done really well than offering a litany of entrees do satisfactory. Our server was wonderful, making certain we enjoyed our meal. Started with a mimosa and Bloody Mary. The BM was the better of the two. We chose eggs Benedict which were fantastic. Rich, creamy and simply uncious with a balanced profile including a bit of salt...probably from the ham. We weren't rushed through our meal which was perfect for a Sunday. Cheers!
You stopped at this place to get some lunch. They had seating inside and out which caught our eye. We ended up sitting inside. Our waitress was very friendly and made the experience much more enjoyable. The menu was good and I had a chicken sandwich. I would like to go back to this place and explore more of the menu. It's right downtown and surrounded by shopping and decadent pastry shops.

We were exciting to try this place. The music was on point oldies vibe was great . Food was delicious. Service was great. The reason I had to put a 3 is because before we could pay bill I was in bathroom sick . Let's just say had to run out of there to make it home so something got me sick either tuna or soup or the nonalcoholic drink . Either way was awful experience tried to call them in morning and that night no answer. To let them now pull everything from my ticket to see what the issue was. Sad but it is what it is . Everything was simply wonderful. Charming ambiance in this Danish themed village. Steakhouse was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Service was very attentive, prompt, and friendly. The resident "mascot " is my new friend Gus the dog. He adds an enormous amount of character to this friendly, casual, fine dining experience. LOVE IT! read more

WOW! Now this is a place that deserves its Michellin star status!! The food was DELICIOUS!!! Everything we ate was cooked to perfection and tasted out of this world. They also had great non-alcoholic drink options- which I loved!!! The service was so incredibly friendly!! It did take a long time for our food to come, but the wait was absolutely worth it!! The decorations were elegantly beautiful- with green lamps at our booth setting the aesthetic. This place is just so delicious. I definitely recommend it. ALSO, my mom got the donut for her birthday dessert and it was the best donut any of us had ever had!!! read more

Michelin Star my A$$!! It wasn't the price, but the food was beyond awful. A picture is worth 1000 words. Compare the difference between four years ago and 2025. White iceberg, lettuce really !! Cold halibut served with brown unidentifiable side dish. See photos. Yuck do not go here They did have some cool music and a pretty booth, but that's all I can say that was positive!! read more

If you like a good steakhouse, this place is above and beyond. The steak was cooked perfectly. The sides were mouthwatering. If they have a long wait time, I recommend you do the wait. The service was top notch, friendly, and accommodating. The place itself was well decorated and the lighting was very romantic. A must place to go, for an overly nice dinner. I still dream about the mashed potatoes. The artichokes and sauce was just done perfectly. Melt in my mouth steak. read more

This was our first visit to Coast Range and we had a lovely experience. We were there during a very busy weekend during Julefest, but we were able to get late reservations. The restaurant was comfortable and the server was excellent. 5/5 - 22oz Creekstone Bone In Ribeye 5/5 - 6oz Maine Lobster Tail: best thing I ate! 5/5 - French Onion Soup 5/5 - Bone Marrow: With pickled shallots vinaigrette, red onion jam and grilled bread. My husband said it was the best bone marrow he'd ever had! 4/5 - Brioche Donuts: With brown butter glaze. My husband loved these! 3/5 - Rigatoni Pasta: "Wagyu Beef Bolognese, parmesan foam". This tasted great, but this was in no way a cheese foam! It was definitely a cheese sauce. Don't have a bougie description if you can't live up to it. I probably would have rated this higher if we hadn't been disappointed. The food came out to 4.5 stars. I can definitely bump it to 5 stars based on the service! read more

Range Days Ahead Highly-acclaimed newish restaurant (2021) that's fronted by acclaimed chefs Anthony Carron and Steven Fretz and a pastry/dessert program run by James Beard nominated pastry chef Lincoln Carson. They're already off to a ripping start, as they've already nabbed two Michelin Guide recommendations ('22 & '23) and was one of two restaurants we *had* to visit on our latest trip to Solvang. The fact that we actually visited twice (once for dinner, and once for brunch) in one visit is pretty rare for us, as we're like bumblebees that are constantly on the move from one restaurant to the next. The Good: *Locally-sourced products from their own cattle farm to fish straight from the Santa Barbara Pier. Their menu changes from season to season to highlight what's good. *Overall the service was friendly, swift, and not too annoying. There was a bit of an issue with a snarky hostess, but let's be honest, shall we, that's pretty much part of the job description for a good host/hostess. *Reservations for dinner are recommended and available thru the handy-dandy Yelp app in your hands. *Fantastic old-timey roadhouse meets burlesque shop décor. The exterior is also just as gorgeous, as they're housed in an old Victorian. *Dog-friendly outdoor seating *Booths!! Actual honest to goodness booths! I was literally just asking Carissa, "You remember when all restaurants had the privacy of a booth?" And like a prayer, the food gods answered. *Great bar and local microbrews on-tap (alcohol actually comes from their next-door sister Vaquero Bar) *Carissa's "Atlantic" salmon was cooked to absolute perfection, despite the outward Blackened appearance. One second more--and it would've been overdone. It's also important to note that they actually asked how you want your fish cooked, which is extremely rare. Medium, of course... *Potato Pierogies had a fantasticly crisp exterior and soft juicy interior. My one complaint was I wish they had a little more sauce on the dish. *Parker House Rolls, too, came out warm, soft, and so full of good buttery flavor. I'd order these again in a heartbeat. #Carboholic *I figured I should try some of their house-grown beef, and I was able to rectify that the next day as I ordered the Steak Fretz w/ eggs, and it was a breakfast fit for a king. The beef was tender, full of flavor and cooked expertly medium-rare. The well-seasoned steak fries were the perfect foil and especially when enveloped in the rich, velvety egg yolks. *Potato Cake was like a McDonald's Hasbrown on steroids. Just get it. *Carissa raved about her Eggs Benedict as "the best" she's ever had. The Meh: *Wagyu Beef Stroganoff was a bit of a letdown, especially since it was the Michelin Inspector's recommendation. Perhaps it was a case of the hype getting the better of the dish, as it wasn't bad in the least. In fact, it was quite good, but it was missing a little something to push it over the top, which is what I'd expect from a dish of this caliber. The Ugly: *Coast Range Brioche donuts were everything they're advertised and then some. Soft, tender, and a smooth not-too-sweet glaze. Did I pay $15 for two tiny donuts? Yes. Yes, I did. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. #FatAss Conclusion: Fantastic high-caliber, seasonal, and just plain delicious food at a price, but 100% worth a visit if you're in town or even staying somewhere nearby. read more

I ordered the Steak Fretz, medium rare, and cooked to perfection. Although small, it was a good steak, though the fries fell short. The staff were incredibly friendly and the service was quick. Overall, great experience. read more
Another restaurant week in the books and we really loved it here. We sat inside but both in and out were cozy. The service we received here was fantastic. The server and waitress that were assigned to us were friendly and on top of it even on a busy Saturday night. As for the meal, We each got a cocktail and they were okay, maybe 3 stars. We were thinking maybe we should've looked into if there's a cork fee & just bring a bottle of wine that we love instead. We did the 3 courses and added an appetizer which was Not our smartest move given they do good portion sizes, however it was worth it because we got the bone marrow and it was divine. First course was a shrimp Louie salad with a cup of split pea soup. 2nd was braised lamb with cheese ravioli and dessert was an apple carrot cake. Everything was delicious. Hearty and well seasoned. I really struggled through the ravioli because I was so full already lol overall, the michelin guide got it right in our opinion. We had a stellar date night here and will be back! read more

Background On Visit: On trip advisor, this establishment was on the list of restaurants to eat at. So we went. Credit Cards: They're accepted. Restrooms: There's two unisex restroom stalls to choose from Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance with modern furnishings. Can be loud depending on the patrons that come through the door. Service: For the most part, service was pretty good. Food came out at a decent time also. Food: 1) Cobb Salad: Salad was great. What's great about it is that it's shareable and quite refreshing. Asked for the dressing and blue cheese to be separated from the salad. Greatest idea ever. 2) French Onion Soup: French onion soup was delicious. The cheese was the cherry topper for me. Plenty of cheese stretch moments while consuming. 3) Smoked and Grilled Half Chicken: The entree also included truffled manchango polenta and haricot verts (French green beans). Absolutely loved the chicken. It was moist and flavorful. The other element that made this plate very good was the polenta. Absolutely double YUM! Coast Range For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back to the restaurant to try their Michelin mentioned fried chicken sandwich during brunch and eat their smoked and grill half chicken again. read more
So this place was conveniently located right across the street from our hotel. Lucky for us there was no wait and we're seated right away. I do believe that they take reservations.The restaurant itself is very nice and classy. It had a romantic vibe and perfect for date nights and even proposals. My husband ordered the Rib eye. It came with a side salad .He also had a side of the potatoes. Mostly everything on the menu is a la carte. I had the fried calamari appetizer as my main course. It came with fried veggies and was a nice size. We also ordered the delicious rolls. I also ordered a passion fruit margarita and my hubby ordered lemonade. My LORD the spicy tuna crispy rice is delicious. My only complaint is there wasn't 1000 pieces. I woulda ate every one. This place is delicious. Perfect for a little date night. Cocktails are great and the desserts are fantastic. Service was great too. Waitress was personable and extremely attentive. read more

Ambiance is such a vibe here! Nice and dark and moody. Food was pretty good. My filet was more rare than medium rare :/ and it needed a touch more salt. But the salad had this like lemon flavor and paired with the steak it tasted amazing!! The shell Mac and cheese was 10/10. Bone marrow was great too 8/10 I didn't care for the jelly that it came with it. I don't think the flavors go together but that's just personal preference. Also my lychee martini wasn't that good. Overall I think I would come back here. read more
Stopped by for brunch on Saturday and got seated right away because there was a Christmas parade going on outside and everyone was preoccupied. Usually it's hard to get a table. I rarely leave one star reviews, but the experience my siblings, boyfriend, and I had at Coast Range on Christmas Eve was so upsetting that I feel compelled to share. As a 20 year old woman who works really hard and planned this holiday road trip to give my younger siblings a memorable time, I left the restaurant feeling dismissed and disrespected. From the start, the service was abysmal. Our waitress, Yesenia, was unwelcoming and condescending, as if she had already decided that we didn't belong there. I always strive to be polite, so the coldness we received felt both unwarranted and unprofessional. To make matters worse, the hostess I'm assuming (tall white blonde woman) felt only inattentive to us. Every group around us was asked about their seating preferences (inside or outside), yet we weren't given a choice and were unceremoniously placed outside next to the door, the least desirable spot of course. This wasn't an isolated moment. I observed an Asian woman ahead of us being ignored until she physically had to wave someone down for help, while a white family in behind her was served promptly. Later, when I tried to get the hostess's attention to pay, she didn't even acknowledge me, yet she happily chatted with other (white) customers that came after. Also, the water had visible particles floating in it. Completely unacceptable for any dining establishment. The food itself was average, certainly not enough to justify the poor service or the unpleasant experience. The only notable feature was the bathroom, which was aesthetically pleasing but hardly makes up for everything else lol. Be better. read more

So I really wanted to like this place! It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either. I was expecting it to be a lot better too because it was rewarded Michelin star in 2022 and 2023...Their food was fresh and flavorful but my wagyu stroganoff was a little too tangy ... probably from the horseradish cream and I got a really chewy piece of meat that I couldn't even swallow. Plus on he menu I was ordering from it didn't say the meat was wagyu... I had to ask. Then their computers were down and one of the dishes that we ordered didn't get put in and the waiter forgot the drink we ordered. I do have to say the Mac and cheese was like nothing I ever tasted it was rich and creamy and I had a bite of the rigatoni and it was very delicious. But all in all not worth what I paid for. read more

Went on a day trip for New Year's Day since we have some visitors. Our reservation is at 5pm so we pretty much choose where we want to be seated which is outside. There are heaters so it was comfortable. There's a bar right next to it so it can be loud but we didn't mind. We were a big group and indoors they seem to only have booths. Checking the menu the selection is a bit pricey for a la carte and entrees items but they have daily specials and on the day we went it was fried chicken and waffles. We have 4 minors in our group so we ordered beef stroganoff, bunch of chicken and waffles, steak from the kids menu and ribeye steak both cooked medium, I also had the French onion soup. For the steak's sides we had the mushroom and the chicken and waffles actually come with a few side items. So this restaurant is in the Michelin guide list and while dining I wondered which dish gave them the recognition and I found out it was for their chicken sandwiches - which was not on the dinner menu. Service - I think they tried given it was a busy day, food took longer than we expected, server apologized and mentioned they are under staffed. Food was just ok - nothing memorable for me. Will i go back? Maybe for apps and drinks or to actually try the crispy chicken sandwich. I thought it was odd that it's not on the menu. read more
Nice upscale steak and seafood restaurant in the heart of Solvang. Parking is available behind the restaurant or street parking. We enjoyed their ribeye steaks, scallops, lobster, salads, sides, and desserts. Tip: the ribeye Steak and salads are plenty for two to share. read more

I found this place on Yelp and thought it would be a nice spot for dinner in Solvang. I made a reservation for a Thursday night and there was a good amount of people dining. The exterior of the restaurant gave off cozy vibes. The interior was decorated with nautical art pieces which I thought was fitting with the name. Mussels (5/5): This was a delicious appetizer. The portion was huge and the broth was nicely seasoned. It wasn't too saucy which really let the mussels be the center of the meal. The bread was good too. Big Shell Mac n' Cheese (3/5): It came with 4 jumbo ricotta filled shells. The cheese was very thick and filling. I prefer just a regular mac and cheese. 22 oz Bone-in New York (3.5/5): I ordered my steak medium. Not the most tender new york strip but it was good. It was a thick piece of meat. It had a really nice sear on it which elevated the flavor. I didn't care for the side salad it came with. I wish it was just a regular salad or any vegetable. Overall, it was a nice dinner spot. Like everything else in Solvang, it is walking distance if you are staying in the area. The only issue was they took forever bringing out a beer we ordered. Other than that, it was good. read more

THIS FOOD AND SERVICE WAS TOP NOTCH. The waitress, Chelsea, was incredibly sweet and she brought us 2 glasses of champagne for our anniversary celebration. The soup was WILDLY good; one of the best French onions ever. The beef stroganoff was to die for and we loved the Brussel sprouts. It was pricey but worth every penny and the ambiance is perfect for date night read more
