We tried the Danish meatballs and the deviled eggs, and can see why they are considered favorites. A huge shout out to Rick, the bartender- he is a true mixologist and also a pleasant conversationalist. He was also offering seasonal cocktails separate from the menu offerings and I went with the peppermint bark martini- so delicious, it's a holiday dessert in a glass. We couldn't get into other full dining restaurants in the Solvang area so we decided to check out V lounge, the bar/lounge inside of our hotel (Vinland). It was very low key and quiet when we were there, versus everywhere else that was booked up and crowded. The decor is modern and comfortable. All of the plates that we shared were absolutely delicious: deviled eggs topped with bacon, smoked salmon flatbread, spinach salad with feta and walnuts in a light dressing, and Brussel sprouts. The Brussel sprouts were sweet with salty bacon bits, a nice change from a tangy balsamic vinegar version. I definitely recommend V Lounge! read more

We noticed the lounge as we were checking into the hotel. We decided to go explore the town and come back later. When we arrived to the lounge, I was very impressed with the decor and all of the seating areas. My husband and I sat at the bar and were greeted by Jacob. He told us about the offerings on the menu and different drink options. My husband opted for an old-fashioned and I ordered a martini. Both drinks were fabulous. Jacob is a great bartender and conversationalist, which is super hard to find these days. It really seems like he cares about customer service and representing his employer in a positive way! The V Lounge is inside the Vinland Hotel at the west end of Solvang. We were staying at the hotel and were looking for some drinks and appetizers in a nice comfortable place. The V Lounge was perfect. The service was friendly and attentive. I had a Manhattan Cocktail ($14 + $2 for using Maker's Mark) which was well executed . The Danish Meatballs ($13) were great, with a delicious sauce. The sauce was so good that we ordered extra bread to dip in the sauce. The only regret about the meatballs were the number of meatballs were fewer than expected. The Caramelized Sprouts ($11) were very good and enjoyed by all. read more

We are staying at the Vinland Hotel for a few days and this lounge is just off the lobby. It was cold and we were tired so we decided to just take the easy way out. Wish we hadn't. This is a cute little bar/lounge and a fine place to get a drink and relax, but that's about it. They have a very limited food menu but Swedish meatballs was on there. We thought that the meatballs and a salad would be a passable dinner. Unfortunately, as soon as the bartender came over to take our order he let us know that there was no cook on duty that day but he was going to do the cooking but that the meatballs were off the menu because of it. I happened to see another customer eating what looked like chicken wings and asked about it and he let me know that they were on special that night. I chose the Korean BBQ flavor. They tasted fine but no spice at all, which is usually expected. We also ordered the deviled eggs. Ugh. Such a mistake. The only good thing I can say about them is that the bacon bits looked hot and fresh. Literally THE WORST deviled eggs I've ever had. The outside had a weird sticky slimy-ness and the filling was so bland and dry. Bottom line - get a drink, skip the food. read more

My husband and I had a weekend getaway in Solvang and had a great experience at this place. Being the holiday season, all the restaurants had over an hour wait and we were pleasantly surprised that we didn't have to leave the hotel to appease our hunger. Our server/bartender Rick was warm and attentive without being intrusive and the food arrived promptly. With our red lager we ordered flatbread with cream cheese and smoked salmon sprinkled with some greens that was so tasteful, caramelized Brussel sprouts with crispy bacon crumbles that's to die for, and Danish meatballs in white sauce with garlic bread. All three have big portions and can be shared by 3-4 people. It was Rick who suggested the food we ordered and we were so happy that we did! Kudos to the chef! We left nothing on the plate! He found a creative way to make the needed modifications to existing cabinet doors so that there was no need to try to find matching new door. He was prompt and professional, finished ahead of schedule, and his price was reasonable. We will call him again when we need other handyman work. read more
