Had lunch today at Whiskey N' Rye Smokehouse. Kat the hostess seated us at a nice table inside the outdoor patio. Ruby was our server and provided quality service with a smile and Jake delivered our meals. My wife had the smokehouse burger and I had the chicken sandwich. Both meals were good. A nice day in Solvang. Recommended.

Got recommendations from the girl behind the ice cream counter that this was her favorite place for dinner. Kinda sounded like a bar to me but it was a popular restaurant with available parking behind the restaurant. Our server took our orders which arrived shortly after. We had an outdoor table that just escaped the strong late afternoon sun like some other tables who were squinting their eyes. I ordered a bit too much: half rack of ribs with cole slaw, sweet chili and salt and vinegar wings, Cesar salad.

Haiku: Whiskey N Rye Smokehouse Nice spot in Solvang Came for the Easter prix fixe The bar is a vibe. --- Staying in Solvang, I was craving some BBQ and found this place. However, the night that we came, they were only serving their Easter prix fixe dinner. I was at least hoping their popular baby back ribs or smoked beef brisket would be on the menu. (The ribs were only on the kids' menu). Despite not being able to order their BBQ, the star of the prix fixe meal items was the Grilled Salmon. It was perfectly cooked--moist, flaky, and tender. The seasoning was on point, too. The Coffee & Chili-Crusted Filet Medallions sounded good on paper, but it was quite dry. My kid loved her ribs and fries from the kids' menu. They were meaty, tender, and full of flavor. Their desserts were a treat. The Smoked S'mores Mousse was decadent. The Banana & Bourbon Bread Pudding was dense, but was moist and flavorful. The restaurant itself had a masculine and rustic interior. There's a full bar, and I bet it's a popular spot to watch sports games. Service was attentive at the beginning, then waned as the meal progressed. Maybe it was because she was ending her shift and wanted to go home? After that, everything we needed, like boxes or paying the bill, was handled at the bar.

Whiskey 'N Rye is one of our go to places for happy hour when we visit Solvang. The signature cocktails, outstanding shareable (filet mignon tips and loaded Mac and cheese), and the personable staff make Whiskey 'N Rye a perfect place to talk, relax, and take in Solvang .

We came in on a Saturday night and grabbed a couple seats at the bar. Service was fantastic. It was attentive and fast. They have TVs, but we're unable to put the Dodgers game on for us. Which was fine. The decor is beautiful. I would say average noise and pretty busy on a Saturday night. They do close at nine though so it doesn't get crazy like everything else in Solvang. The food was good. We really enjoyed the cornbread and the fried pickles. We also tried the burnt ends and the Caesar salad salad. Both were good, but nothing amazing. The cocktails were my least favorite part. It seems like they pre-batch their Old Fashioneds. They were able to give my husband tastings of them and they were all extremely sweet. So I went with a boulevardier instead, which was also too sweet. I probably stick with beer or wine next time.

My friend and I wanted to grab a bite to eat after zip lining in Buellton, CA before heading back to Santa Barbara. We were really not in the mood for wine and thought this would be a perfect stop based on reviews. The restaurant was very nice with indoor and patio seating. It was a gorgeous day so we sat at the high top on the patio. Ashleigh introduced herself, very nice and attentive. I ordered and Espresso Martini and my friend ordered beer. We shared a Smoked Beef Brisket with a side of Fries and a Caesar Salad. The plate came out fast along with our drinks. We both thought the salad was OK. The fries were delicious. The Beef Brisket tasted really good and was tender, but unfortunately the 3 pieces that we were served were very fatty at $37. didn't cut it... Sorry. Would we try again, not sure, though drinks were good, maybe try the burger. Judge for yourself. Atmosphere: very nice laid back feel. Service: excellent. Food: fatty for the price not a good value.

This place is always a chill spot to come to and have a quick drink at the bar or even dinning on the patio. Service was great. The waiter was on point with our order. The old fashioned flight was tasty the peachy was surprisingly a favorite, the local whiskey flight Is always a go too, the bamble berry was surprisingly refreshing and light, the zero proof spicy watermelon was fresh and not spicy at all. The dirty fries are so tasty, a lot of flavor slight spicy but not enough to over power the flavor. Definitely a top suggestion if you're out in Solvang.

Never disappoints! We go yearly and always order the same items because we crave it all year. Definitely trying getting a reservation ahead of time but dog friendly and kid friendly!

This was a nice spot that we tried out. The wait was not too long to get seated. The staff was wonderful and the food was delicious. My husband got the brisket burger and it was melt in your mouth good. I got the mignon salad and the steak was cooked perfectly. The average meal was $25-30 a person. A little pricey but the food was excellent.

This place is the best. I am so glad I found this place. Service is great. I love the drinks. The brisket fries are unreal. The food is excellent.

We came into town for anniversary and were looking for a place that would be good for dinner, with a casual vibe. Every time a shop owner would ask where we were from and why we came to Solvang, we told them it was our anniversary, and asked where we should eat. They all said Whisky and Rye. They were right. We were able to get a table for two that was in the back corner, our server was attentive and checked in on us often, keeping glasses full and making several on point recommendations. We had the beet salad (I don't like beets - but this salad was really good - so I found beets I like, I guess) and the sampler. It was all so good. Special shout out to the salad and the grilled corn. It was all really good but both were different than anywhere else. We will definitely be back again the next time we're in town.

The service was amazing and the food was out fast! The atmosphere is pretty chill and a nice place to relax in Solvang. The quality and selection were great. It was busy but worth the wait and a great option is you have your furry family member with you.

My friends and I were sitting in a booth near the karaoke stage when my purse and white sweater accidentally slipped into the gap between the booth and the wall. Apparently, this gap contains part of the karaoke power setup, because the karaoke briefly stopped working when my belongings fell into it. If that area is truly that critical, it seems like a serious oversight that it is left completely uncovered and accessible to customers. The way the situation was handled was completely unacceptable. The karaoke DJ, Eric, came over to retrieve my belongings. Instead of simply placing them back on the booth seat or handing them to me, he threw my purse and sweater onto the floor while yelling at me and my friends. As a result, a bottle of perfume inside my purse shattered, my belongings were scattered, my purse was damaged, and my white sweater was dirtied. What bothered me most was not the accident itself, but the level of hostility and aggression directed toward me over something that was clearly unintentional. At no point was there any attempt to calmly explain the issue or address the situation respectfully. Instead, I was publicly embarrassed and treated as though I had done something wrong rather than accidentally dropping belongings into an exposed gap in the seating area. I was genuinely shaken by the interaction. In all my years of going to bars, restaurants, concerts, and other public venues, I have never had an employee throw my personal belongings on the ground while yelling at me. The response from management was equally disappointing. When two of my friends approached management to express concern about what had happened, they were threatened with being removed from the bar rather than having their concerns taken seriously. I understand that technical issues can be frustrating and that mistakes happen. What I do not understand is why a customer was subjected to that kind of treatment over an accidental incident that could have been handled with a simple conversation. The entire experience was humiliating, unnecessary, and completely avoidable. I hope management takes a serious look at both the exposed setup near the karaoke stage and the conduct of the staff involved, because no customer should be treated this way. If anyone from Whiskey Richard's would be willing to contact me further, I'd genuinely appreciate it.

We got the "Tutti Frutti Farms" Roasted Beet Salad. It had strawberries, whipped goat ricotta, salted pistachio, and nastrurtium. Such gorgeous presentation, and a nice bright and fresh dish to begin the meal. Next we had the Jidori Chicken Liver Mousse. Loved this! It had roasted blueberries, hazelnut praline, lemon thyme, and grilled sourdough. Such a perfect combination of flavors and textures! We also had Crispy Brussel Sprouts. These were probably some of the best Brussels sprouts I've ever had! The savory sesame and garum paired with sweetness from the dates, a crunch from the puffed wild rice, and some tartness from the lime were incredible together! Another amazing dish! Lastly, we had the Handmade Rigatoni Pasta. It had sugar snap peas, maitake mushrooms, piedmont white truffle butter, parmesan, and pea tendrils. While this dish was good, it did feel a little more ordinary than the other three dishes we had. Would recommend the Roasted Beet Salad, Chicken Liver Mousse, and Brussels Sprouts first! Perhaps the onus was on me to recognize the shape of a tourist trap, but I was optimistic about this restaurant based on some reviews. The "crudo" plate is nothing of the sort beyond a few sliced pieces of fish on a bed of ice (if you know anything about serving *sashimi*, this is a no-no); to call something "crudo" which is, effectively, a sashimi platter feels... somewhat misleading. We also ordered a selection of oysters and were disappointed to see they were haphazardly shucked so much so that many of the oysters would not detach from their shells as we attempted to eat them. There's nothing so inelegant as trying to suck down an oyster and finding it won't budge (even after you've gently coaxed it with the appropriate utensil). The service also left something to be desired. We ordered a first round of cocktails and wine, and the server never checked on us again to see if we would like another round. I usually don't like to make such late reservations (we arrived for an 8:30pm reservation), so perhaps our server was busy with trying to finish their shift, but it felt like an egregous oversight to both 1) not be asked if we would like more drinks when our glasses were empty for 20 minutes, and 2) to not check in on our waters (we were handed a bottle and we ran out of water throughout the course of our meal, and no one seemed to care). Our dinner was also, unfortunately, interrupted by a large table behind us (about 10-15 people) who were incredibly inebriated and having a raucous good ol' time together (kudos for them, but if you want a more romanic or peaceful setting then I may suggest you dine elsewhere). It may behoove the manager to consider asking such guests to be considerate of others who are dining 3 feet from a group that was easily 6 martinis into their dining experience before their food came. Is the view gorgeous? Yes. Is it worth the price, and the seeming lack of service? Absolutely not. I will not be returning, but I suspect that is of little consequence when a restaurant such as this has the premium on prime dining real estate in this lil' beach town. May the luck be ever in your favor should you choose to dine here, and may you experience the bare modicum of service that such prices should include. Just my two cents!

Wildcat has become a place where I'm comfortable walking in, even on a busy Friday or Saturday night; and know I'll be valued, respected, and protected, even by people I barely know. And also served the absolute coldest draft beer in the city except for Lure which closes at 10. This sounds like an ad but I swear it's the damn truth. Be prepared to wait in line. The line is part of the fun. These are your fellow patrons, after all. Your friends and neighbors. Enjoy it while it lasts.

First, I would like to call out the bartender / server named Genesa that was beyond great. We went…read morein at 5:00pm 7/11/26 with no reservation and were please to find seating in the bar right away, even though the place was packed. We watched her make & serve drinks with lighting speed, even serving food as well. This lady needs a raise! Second, the food was delicious, perhaps the best ribeye I have ever had in my 51 years. My wife and I shared a 16 oz spencer steak with baked potato, and chicken with ravioli and fries. They came with beans, side salad with the best ranch dressing ever! Of course, we could not come close to finishing all the food and had to ask for our included ice cream to go. Lucky, we had a room in Santa Maria with a big fridge and freezer. After our vodka soda and food coma wore off, we enjoyed our malted crunch ice cream in our room and finished our meal the next day. The smokey flavor of the steak and chicken was amazing. We will be going back very soon. Truth be told, I am getting hungry just writing this review.

After attempting to eat here for several years in a row while down for a sporting event that…read morehappens same time of year, we finally managed not only a reservation but 2 seats next to one another at the bar. We got super excited! With that, don't waste your time on this, go to Orcut to Far Western Tavern so much nicer, friendlier and just overall better experience for similar food. Reservations were for 7:15pm and we arrived at 7:05, were told not to crazy busy just hang out. Managed to find 2 seats at the end of the bar and were served pretty quickly. We don't typically mind a busy place and eating at the bar so I asked my husband if he just wanted to eat there. My seat was at the end and they kept puking up dirty glasses so I wasn't crazy for it but saw everyone else eating at the bar. He said no... Our bartender was attentive and also asked after we had been there maybe 20 minutes and we still said no. We finally got seated for our 7:15pm reservation at 8:30pm. Our server kept coming by telling us she'd be right with us, this happened about 5 times. We waited and waited for service. I got to over hear both our waitress and the others great others and go over specials etc. Ours never really seemed to know if they were actually out of something, she'd say I think. When offering ice cream her list was different from the other waitresses. All this before we got to order. We decided to get the big Ribeye and share but not add on the shared plates. Waitress recommended extra salad so did that. So glad as we didn't need an extra set of sides as everything was larger portions. Salad was basic; bug cuts of iceberg lettuce shredded carrots and one sliced beet on top, with watered down ranch. Main course took forever to arrive; baked potato had all fixings yet was dry. The Ribeye was tough and chewy. I enjoyed the beans and bread dipped in them; funny since I don't really like beans. The hubs who does like beans said they tasted burnt. We finally left at 10pm! It was so ridiculously slow! Don't think I could get the hubs to even try it again. Very disappointed. We tried so many times to eat there and waited and waited in their tiny hallway. At least this time the host and bartender was friendly unlike previous times.

Honestly... save your money…read more I dropped by this Jordanian restaurant /hookah lounge to chill for a bit, have a beer, and enjoy some hookah. It looked like a cool vibe from the outside, but the whole experience left me super disappointed. When I walked in, the place was empty--just the owner and two staff. No greeting, no welcome, just awkward silence while the owner stayed on the phone trying to fix what sounded like a billing issue. The staff didn't speak much English (which is fine), but there was no real effort to help or explain anything either. Eventually, I got a hookah and a beer--$48.50 for one hookah and one beer. Yeah... nearly $50. No food, no extras. That's wild. Then I was told I had to smoke outside on the back patio, which turned out to be a tiny little corner--maybe 6 by 10 feet--with uncomfortable chairs and a random wood bench. It took 15 minutes to even get the hookah (remember, no one else was there), and when it arrived, it was totally burnt. Overpacked, harsh hits, and I ended up having to scrape it and fix it myself just to get it to smoke right. Wanna know the kicker? You only get three coals. That's it. No refills unless you pay for more. No one checked on us for almost an hour, and when I finally asked for more coals, they said (in broken English and mostly Spanish) that that's all you get unless you pay extra. I've smoked hookah all over the place--three coals is nothing, especially when you're charging $35+. No one came around, no vibe, no music, no nothing. Just me, my burnt hookah, and a beer that wasn't even cold. I really tried to find something redeeming about this place, but nothing hit. The service wasn't there, the product wasn't good, and it honestly felt like I was bothering them just by being there. Bottom line: for $50, you can do way better just about anywhere else--or even at home. Hope they turn it around, but for now, I wouldn't recommend it.
