Our first stop when we arrived was Solvang Restaurant for the æbleskiver. Being a slow weekday, the walk-up window wasn't open. There was a sign directing to place orders inside. At the front counter a young lady greeted us and somehow immediately knew that we were there for the æbleskiver. :) From the register you can watch them being freshly made. Our order was ready in just a few minutes. We sat on a bench right outside. Our daughter was back to being a kid savoring the warm fluffy goodness of the Danish treat. We find them best with the slightly sweet and tart raspberry jam, covered in powdered sugar. This was a perfect start to our day in Solvang!

Service good. Super busy day and wait staff was jumping Parking - can be challenging. But if you are an early riser no issues Ambiance - diner style: simple old school Food - solid Danish sausage - very mild and juicy but not fatty or salty. Comes with a mild mustard sauce that is borderline aioli Breakfast special - if you want a little less food the one egg special is perfect. Add cheese. You can turn into a McMuffin with hash browns Aebleskiver - what everyone comes for. Their version was more cake like. Not a donut or a beignet but something in between. Topped with a good amount of jam

Was told while in Solvang we absolutely had to try famous aebleskiver. We found this cute restaurant and went in and ordered custom service was okay they seemed rushed even no one else in line We got our order pretty quickly and price was great We ordered the 3 aebleskiver it had raspberry jam and powdered sugar it was very good was like a muffin pancake to me I enjoyed it

We walked in to try the able skivers and ended up dining in as well. The able skiver was amazing and I highly recommend it. YUM. That with the jelly, is delightful. We tried the meatball and sauage platter as well. The meat was good, the sides seemed ehhh and not fresh. Service was friendly. Atmosphere was similar to a diner. The inside decor in the back had some cute Danish things.

Famous aebleskiver! Usually have it every time we visit Solvang. This time it was a little cakey and undercooked inside. Kind of like an undercooked round pancake. Nothing too special but fun picture.

We had a long drive from Aptos back down to Orange County so we thought, hey! Let's stop in Solvang for abelskivvers! I am so glad we did! There's only one place that's worth it to get these lovelies at and that's this place! We decided to have a little brekkie too. Hubs and I shared scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and some bacon. Whoahhh the bacon! It was soooo good, just the right amount of crispy, it wasn't crinkly and small, rather these were full sized bacon goodness! We ravaged our breakfast as a formality to get to the real prize....ABELSKIVVERS! They were amazing, as always. Warm, sweet bites of heaven. The service was great, our servers were friendly and helpful. This restaurant holds so many memories for me as my family would visit when I was a child. It's a little danish slice of heaven on earth. It's quaint, smells amazing, and we look forward to our next visit!

When in Solvang, we had to try the famous æbleskivers. We heard good things about Solvang Restaurant so it was an easy choice. They have a restaurant, but we just opted to go to their takeout window and get one order of the æbleskivers. They were ready instantly before we even had a chance to pay. I'm not a huge sweets person, but the best way I could describe them are like donut holes covered in powdered sugar and raspberry jam. They were big, but still fluffy, light, and nice and warm for the brisk day. Even though I don't have a sweet tooth, I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth a try if you're in Solvang.

I just got an order of the Aebleskivers, if you're not dining in, they have a little window out front where you can order and take your food. There are not a lot of benches outside so you might find yourself standing to eat your food. I wish there were a smaller order of the Aebleskivers since it was hard to finish by yourself and I would recommend sharing it. I like that it came out fresh and hot and the sugar and the raspberry sauces melted with it. It also felt strangely dense but fluffy at the same time.

    Desiree P.

You had me at walk up window. Danish treats and snacks to go, so we can keep touristing, YES please. The ableskivers were perfectly dense and delicious. And the medisterpolse (Danish pork sausage) had a nice snap and savory goodness. Probably could have had two orders of each, but I wanted to keep trying other goodies. Worth the pit stop, even if there's a line.

Everything about our visit from the moment we walked in, this place just wasn't it for me. The service from our server wasn't bad and the wait wasn't as long as we expected but the food.... Chef salad- canned asparagus and canned relish, chopped up deli meat and cubed cheese just thrown on top of a bed of iceberg lettuce. Please refer to my photo. Reminded me of a salad they serve you at a hospital cafeteria lol Meatball/sausage combo plate- meatballs were hard and stiff. Steamed veggies were like straight out of the freezer into a pot of boiling water. Kinda mushy. Mashed po/gravy and the sausage were ok. Pastrami sandwich- friend said it was ok but the bread was a little soggy The famous aebelskiver- ordered the 3 balls. One was completely raw on the inside. I'm sorry. Maybe I just came here on a bad day but everything was just off.

Woke up super early to come here before heading to LA. It was nice and quiet since it was 7am. Service was good and Danish Style Pancake with eggs (5/5 stars) - Wow didn't expect to love this but I did! It's right between a crepe and a American style pancake. It the perfect in between so you don't feel super full. There's a slight tangy that enhances it. Æbleskiver (3/5) - The taste of the batter and raspberry jam is excellent. However, the first 2 were nice and crunchy outside but undercooked in the middle. The last one was full cooked but the outside was not crunchy. Overall, love that Danish Style Pancake.

Delicious abelskeivers! $5 for 3 (each one was huge). They came out super soft, pillowy, and flavored with jam and powdered sugar. There was a bit of a wait but you got your dessert right after your ordered.

This place is non-descript yet just off the main park downtown, and an easy walk from most of the major hotels in town, or the central parking lot - plus lots of street parking as well. It seems rather small, with one area for bar seating and small tables, plus a larger dining area "next door" to the bar, but I like the bar ambiance, so it may be challenging on busy tourist days. Luckily, I travel on non-busy days and have always had a good seat. The ambiance is great, with a typical, colorfully decorated pub feel with TVs offering an invitation to relax and have a pint - or two! The menu is varied, and I had planned for what I wanted, but when the server/bartender/boss offered the daily special as an option, I quickly jumped at the chance. The special was a queso dip with house-made chips, and I had to try it! Sadly, I also ordered my usual, the Cobb salad. Sadly, because after the "appetizer" arrived, I quickly realized the full consequences of the saying "your eyes are bigger than your stomach!" The dip and chips were plentiful in both, and for me would have made a great meal on their own. But I was committed and managed to finish the salad. On my previous visit, I had the mac 'n cheese and the Cobb salad, along with a Guinness dark! That was sooo tasty as well! The food at this visit was great, and the service was as well. Sam, who is the owner, bartender, server, and jack-of-all-trades, is always friendly, professional, and efficient, no matter how busy it is, and this visit was the only one outside the kitchen. If you're in the area, give them a try! And leave room for dessert - I have yet to do that, but you can learn from my mistakes!

The spicy wings had great flavor--more on the spicy side than "hot," which honestly made them even better and more enjoyable. The Reuben with onion rings was done right--classic, satisfying, and the onion rings were perfectly cooked with a great crisp. The bread on the sandwich had the perfect crisp as well, which really brought it all together. And the standout was the spicy melt burger. My friend ordered it medium rare, and it came out perfectly medium rare--juicy, flavorful, and cooked exactly as requested (which doesn't always happen, so that's worth noting). Everything was executed really well, and you can tell they take pride in the kitchen. Easy 5 stars. Would definitely come back.

Celebrating our nation's 250th birthday in beautiful Solvang!…read more We ate at Craft House four times during our visit--and for good reason! It is, in our opinion, the best restaurant in Solvang. Every meal was exceptional, and the service was consistently outstanding. From the moment we walked in, Daniel welcomed us with a warm smile that made us feel right at home. At our first breakfast, Taylor provided friendly, attentive service that set the tone for the rest of our visits. That evening, we enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer, beet & burrata salad, short rib grilled cheese and black tie burger. Every dish was absolutely delicious. On our second breakfast visit, Sandra took wonderful care of us. She is such an asset to Craft House--knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely welcoming. Sophia, who brought out our food several times, always greeted us with the biggest smile. You can tell she truly loves what she does. Lorenzo and Nora were also fantastic servers who helped make every visit memorable. Over four visits, we sampled several different entrées and breakfasts. The avocado toast and chorizo quesadilla were definite standouts, and every meal exceeded our expectations. A heartfelt thank you to the entire Craft House team for your incredible hospitality, exceptional service, and outstanding food. We can't wait to return!

The staff is very accommodating and gets us in as quickly as possible. It should be noted that at particularly busy times they will stop taking names for parties for an hour to an hour and a half until they get caught up. The staff members are engaging and efficient. It's difficult to recommend a specific dish because everything is good. On this particular occasion, the eggs in my eggs Benedict were over poached, but honestly out of a half dozen breakfasts, this is the only hiccup I've ever experienced. The buttermilk pancakes are very good, but if you've never tried them before, I recommend giving the Danish pancakes, a try; they're very flavorful. You can add fruit to them, typically cinnamon apples are enjoyed by my family, but you can also have them just with butter and syrup.

Unfortunately, my experience started off on the wrong foot. When my coffee arrived, I noticed what looked like lipstick on the rim of the cup. At first I thought it might just be a stain, but when I touched it, it smeared. Pretty gross, especially for a $4.50 cup of coffee that was very mediocre. The portion sizes were generous, but the food wasn't anything memorable. I ordered the Solvang Danish-style sausage with eggs, hash browns, and an English muffin. I did appreciate that the English muffin was buttered, but the sausage was underwhelming and didn't have anything special about it. My husband ordered Paula's Special with Danish pancakes and warm cinnamon apples. He usually loves pancakes, but he also thought they were just okay. I actually liked the thin Danish pancakes, but I'm not much of a sweets-for-breakfast person. The service also left something to be desired. I found it odd that I had to ask for a water refill instead of it being offered. When I asked for water, the server smiled and nodded but never brought any. I asked again, thinking maybe she hadn't heard me. She returned with a cup full of ice, so I had to ask a third time before I finally got water. Overall, while the restaurant is popular and serves large portions, I don't really understand the hype. Between the mediocre food, the lipstick on the coffee cup, and the inattentive service, it wasn't an experience I'd be eager to repeat.

Out of the 3 bartenders working, only one (a really knowledgeable guy that did his homework about the food and beer) was reliable. When we got to her counter, she seemed annoyed and said that the Amber Beer we wanted wasn't served at her bar and we had to go to the smaller one down the walkway (the Amber was on her menu board, by the way). We got to the smaller bar where the smart guy was and he said he could get us the drink but needed to go to the larger bar we just came from because that's where the tap is. We told him what the woman said and he just shook his head and apologized. This adventure alone took a good 25 minutes. Next up, the food. The dish comes with large florets of cauliflower, so we had to cut it up into smaller pieces. For my entree, I got the Local Miso Black Cod with spinach, sesame dressing, and miso butter. I'd Gather Not One…read moreof Solvang's newest restaurants isn't known for its æbleskivers or Danishes, but rather for French-Asian fusion, and is led by Indonesian-born head chef and co-owner, Budi Kazali. They promise to bring you bold flavors using fresh seasonal ingredients in an elegant but approachable space. The Good: * Reservations via OpenTable™ * Free street and city lot parking nearby. * Dog-friendly outdoor dining * Right on the downtown strip in Solvang, next to our favorite bakery. * Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Fried Rice) was delicious and hit all the right notes. The fried chicken add-on was a different story, though... See below. * Caesar Salad had a delicious flavor, but Carissa found the salad to be a bit overdressed for her liking. I didn't mind it, but I like an obscene amount of dressing on my salads, so go figure? Salmon was a little undercooked for her liking, but again, I wouldn't mind it a bit pink. So, comme ci, comme ça. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The Meh: * Not all the outdoor spaces are shaded/covered. * Prices are a bit absurd for certain items. Yeah, I know it's über-touristy Solvang, but jfc. $12-14 for a beer? And don't get me started on $12 for some of the blandest and most minuscule serving of fried chicken ever. * We arrived ten minutes early for our reservation, and the hostess seemed very annoyed that we were. In fact, she made us wait until it was time for our reservation to the very minute--despite the restaurant being at less than 10% capacity. * Service wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't say it was good, either. More on this below. The Ugly: * I ordered the Hazy IPA they had on tap, and when it arrived, I could tell it wasn't a particularly "hazy" Hazy IPA. But I figured some are better than others. For my second drink, I asked for the Clown Shoes IPA they had in a can. When the waitress returned with it, she admitted that the first beer she'd brought me was actually the same Clown Shoes IPA. Apparently, they'd run out of the Hazy IPA and decided to make the substitution without asking me. It's not a huge deal--I probably would have made the same substitution myself--but I definitely wouldn't have ordered a second one if I'd known it was the only IPA they had in-house. Like I said, it's not the end of the world, but for some reason, it just feels a little devious. Would they have made a substitution without asking a wine connoisseur? I would hope not, but now it kind of makes you wonder. Conclusion: Not a great experience here, from the hostess to the waitress to the food. I wish them luck.
