This is a great, albeit expensive, place to get some imported Danish products you won't find elsewhere. Just know that this place is often very full of inventory and crowds so it can get tough to walk around & shop. It won't be a casual shopping experience. Especially on weekends and summers. I came here mainly because I heard it was a great place to get old Lego minifigure bags. However, I was not expecting some of the older ones to go for up to $30 a bag! That's highway robbery. You can find opened ones online for a fraction of that price and when you do that, there's no need to guess if you are getting the one you want (or be surprised at all by what you're paying for). If you're looking for bags to keep sealed, this is a great option for you, but for someone like me who was just looking to get one or two to complete a series, this just wasn't priced right enough for me to pull the trigger. I did, however, purchase a single mini figure that's exclusive to a Danish store chain. Was it overpriced? Yeah. But not too high that I didn't feel like treating myself. Staff is very friendly and I saw them happily helping customers all throughout the shop. Customer service is great here. So rest assured if you have questions about inventory or if you want to try on something, there will be someone here to help you out quickly. read more

I've tried to like this store over the years but it's really just not for me. It's pretty expensive and the items here don't rotate often enough. It's wild that I can come back years later and there are still so many of the same items in the store. I've always been curious how this store stays in business because I never see anyone buying anything. When I walk into other stores there is always plenty of hustle and bustle near the register. Maybe their online presence is large and that's where they do most of their business? I was impressed by their inventory online. Still not for me but at least they keep up with their e-commerce. I do feel bad though because the staff in the store have always been very nice to me. They greet you, ask if you have any questions, and seem helpful. So definitely my mid review and ranking doesn't reflect the staff or the friendliness of them, it's just not a store that I ever find anything and it's just really pricey in my opinion for what it is. Given that downtown Solvang is more of a tourist area it's surprisingly the high prices and that they try to sell thousands of dollars worth of jewelry here when most people walking in and out are just looking for little travel pieces. What a great shop. They have so many wonderful things for everyone. Our favorite are the Maileg dolls. Our daughter found them to be fascinating and fell in love with the mice so every time we go we let her pick out a few items and mice and little bunnies to grow her dollhouse and collection. They also have a wonderful museum inside which is a delight. We get to teach our child and reward her in the end . This is a great shop and we never tire of going in and purchasing different u pique items for our home and shoes and we can't wait to go back again soon. Located along one of the main parts of the town. Lovely little store with various selection of products. Our favourite was the Lego minifigures. They have a wide choice of old retired series's. Didn't pick up the truly old series of figures due to price but they are there if you have see pockets. Friendly and fast service, despite the busy store. I loved the candle holders and the items made out of amber. I ended up getting an amber tree for my mother and had it shipped to her. It wasn't cheap but it was unique and she loves amber. We stopped into The Copenhagen House while window shopping in Solvang. This shop reminds me a bit of IKEA with regards to the Danish merchandise that is available for sale. Everything from toys to kitchenware and jewelry. Don't miss the beautiful amber collection that is located to the far right of the store. The entrance looks like the entrance to a bank vault. Absolutely love this store. A must stop for me when in Solvang. I always get something cute or useful from here. They have a great selection of amber jewelry which I absolutely love and appreciate. Mostly a shop full of swedish goods. In the very back there's a "museum", which is really a small hallway with large (but impressive) Norse statue. The Copenhagen house also houses an amber museum in the back, which is really one room (the former bank vault). Unfortunately when we visited the amber room was closed. There was a small room full of legos, which was cool, but also the size of a closet. Anyways, worth a quick visit if you're strolling around Solvang. It's cool how this store transformed into this multi-purpose space. However, just know both museums are more like single room exhibits. read more

Is it a store? a museum? a museum in a store? I'm not really sure of what to make of this store. It sells a little bit of everything... they offered jewelry, watches, shoes (Danish clogs), home goods, toys, souvenirs, etc. I guess what threw me off were the names above: MODA, Bering, Pandora, House of Amber, and Dark Blond Cosmetics... now are these designer brands or separate stores within the same building? I am not familiar with these names, maybe because they are way out of my price range. LoL! On top of the confusion there are two museums inside this same building -- Museum of Danish America and Solvang Amber Museum. Are they separate entities that just houses itself inside the Copenhagen House? I browsed through the items they offered. I was fixated on the Danish clogs. There was a huge red shoe on display. It's actually what attracted me to take a look inside the store. The sales ladies were friendly and helpful even though eventually I didn't purchase anything. I probably couldn't afford anything in this store but my mom walked out with a few souvenirs she bought. I spent some time inside the Solvang Amber Museum which was inside the House of Amber. The museum was tiny and from what I understood the original museum, located in Copenhagen, is one of the most recognized national geological amber museums in the world. Well, this is a sample of that original Amber museum. The museum explains a fascinating history of amber. The museum, albeit small, exhibits an impressive collection of entombed insects from prehistoric times. Inside hung a movie poster of Jurassic Park The Lost World... "something has survived". We walked in here with our two daughters because I promised to buy them a toy each. Upon touching the display doll house, a rude, blonde lady told me that my children weren't allowed to touch the toys. She must not have children to understand that children need to explore their options before choosing. We have NEVER been told that by any store in AMERICA. Their customer service was horrible. I was in disbelief so we left and decided not to buy their ikea toys. We scooted to Toyland where my kids were able to touch the toys and bought the ones they wanted. read more

This is a great store to stop and check out. It has a little bit of everything for everybody. We are major watch freaks and they have some very cool watches. If I had known their watches existed I would definitely own several of them. They are very reasonably priced, and have several different, but expensive looking watches. This is a cute little shop that has a little bit of different things. What drew me in was the pandora shop as I love their charms and was looking for a particular one. I was very disappointed with the customer service from the blonde older lady. I walked in and wasn't greeted at all. I went straight to look at charms and the lady simply glanced at me and didn't ask if I needed help even tho there wasn't anyone else needing help. After a couple minutes a lady walked in and she very well was greeted nicely and asked if she was lookin for anything in particular. My wife is from Denmark and we love Danish designed products. The Copenhagen House carries many of our favorite Danish products like Holmegaard glassworks, Stelton, Georg Jensen, etc. We do wish they would consider carrying Royal Copenhagen products as well. This last weekend on a trip to Copenhagen House we purchased a dozen beautiful Holmegaard wine glasses. They like most Holmegaard glass works are mouth blown and are very high quality. We have bought many products from this shop as it has now become our "go to" shop here in the states for our favorite Danish products. Their staff is very helpful, very knowledgeable and extremely professional. If you are in Solvang, you definitely should visit. If you cannot make it up there, visit their website.
