Cute lil shop in Solvang with high quality gifts and goods. Due to this, the items may be on the pricier side compared to other shops but the selection is great and there's a variety to choose from. I bought a jellycat there, it costed a bit more ($3) than a big company such as Nordstrom but it supports a small business :) I didn't meet the lady everyone mentioned in their reviews so speaking from my experience, I had a good time in the store! I believe it was the owner working that day and he was very kind; he complimented my My Melody shirt too and I enthusiastically showed him my matching socks lol. The store was so cute and had cool stuff, but the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The employee put three rainbow bunny Keychains somewhere. When she noticed one of them were gone, she slammed the door and said, "no one is leaving this store until I find the keychain." Eventually she found the Keychain somewhere else and said, "thats what happens when you move stuff" unpleasantly. When she opened the door, everyone left immediately. I DO NOT recommend going here. What could definitely improve is the employees attitude and the way she handles her business. Trying to hold customers hostage is not very professional. read more

GETTING HERE: Located on the main drag into Solvang, highway 246. Parking (as always in this area) can be challenging. I recommend looking for Paula's Pancake House to see if there's parking. If not, there's (sometimes) side street parking or navigate to the Public Parking areas and walk over. REVIEW: This is a cute store! Personally, I felt it was quite small inside and I was concerned I would accidentally knock something over. Thankfully, crisis averted. :) I would state that this is a higher-end gift store in the Solvang area. Many varieties of things for sale, including candles, bath soaps, jewelry, decor, etc. I bought a few shower bombs and I am really excited to try them out. Entered the store with my family and was looking around with the intention to buy something. However, my 2 year old child was acting a bit fussy (we had just driven 3-4 hours from LA). Without more than 30 seconds of the baby whining for his milk, we were shrewdly warned by an employee that there is no whining in the store. At first I thought she was kidding, because nearly anyone would just understand the kid was asking for his mom. But I guess she doesn't want to hear any of that in her store. Even more bizarre, they sell baby clothes and stuffed toys, so you would think the staff would be understanding of typical baby behavior. Most of these "small town" boutiques sell the same stuff, city after city: home decor, seasonal decorations, knickknacks, etc. The difference between a store I walk out of and a store I spend big money at is ultimately determined by the customer service and care my wife and I receive. And if someone shows even the most basic level of understanding of a child's behavior, that goes a long way with us. read more

For years my family and I enjoyed the old location of the Mole Hole which was a larger store and had an upstairs area. The staff were friendly, nice and always helpful. As that store was being liquidated and closed my son and I went in to see if there was anything we would like. I found a couple things but was treated so rudely I quickly changed my mind. My son had made a large purchase at another store prior to going into the Mole Hole so he was carrying a large bag. One of the rude lady's was following him around. He told her he was not stealing their things and would she like to look in his bag. They were not nice! Fast forward a few years to the new location. Sadly, the staff is still rude. On December 11, 2025 we were back in Solvang and waiting to have breakfast at Paula's Pancake House. I did not want to go in the Mole Hole and look around but my son came out and said a nice lady was working. I went in, looked around and chatted with the sales clerk. She indeed was lovely. There was something my daughter wanted so after breakfast I went back to purchase it since there was a nice person working in there. BIG MISTAKE!! The nice lady had vanished and in her place was a very curt, unfriendly, rude woman. I would have left my purchase and walked out if I hadn't been buying the item for my daughter. I will spare the dialogue as this is already long enough. Suffice it to say I will never set foot in the Mole Hole again. Too bad because it is a nice little shop, over priced yes, but nice. I saw in multiple reviews how the owner would apologize for the bad treatment. I think the owner needs to quit apologizing and change the people who are working for him. I walked into a cute store in Solvang to find a birthday gift for my friend's mom. The merchandise is well-suited for those under 5 and women over 70. I was texting with my friend to see what he thought of these little mice in Americana wear for the gift. A crosswoman came out of the back and started yelling at me. She accused me of breaking the "store rules" and taking photos. I asked her if I was allowed to text, and she snottily said yes and then stormed off to the back. Obviously, I left and took my business elsewhere. The WORST customer service. I only use Yelp when I have a wonderful or terrible experience. This was a terrible one. After reading other reviews, I feel sort of sorry for her. #women on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Sadly, I think she is the owner, so she should fire herself for treating potential customers with detention. Tis tis when retail is suffering; those creating the experience should welcome our hard-earned dollars when we are shopping for silly items no one really needs. I visited this store today, my daughter really wanted a Jelly Cat plushie. While browsing the worker aggressively approached my daughter and asked her where this "croissant keychain" was insinuating that my daughter stole it. My daughter showed her where she put it on a different shelf. Then the lady told her to stop touching and moving her things. Of the many gift shops in Solvang, this one was my favorite. There were many unique items here that we did not see in other stores, including items made by local artists. Particularly adorable were the mice called Wee Forest Folk. We loved the shopkeeper too, who seemed to take a genuine interest in us and made the experience here memorable. We've been going here over the years, it's such a cute place with a nice selection of things. It's a higher end gift shop compared to the average gift shop in Solvang. Most of the local gift shops have a majority of Solvang themed items, which also can be good, if that's what you're looking for. This place has cards, baby clothes, toys/plush toys, jewelry, collectibles, candles, some housewares, etc... the buyer for the shop does a good job, in my opinion. I've been coming here since I was a little girl. I came here with both sets of grandmas from out of state individually when I was young. Every time my mom and dad come in from out of state we come here. And their home has many things from the shop. Been buying here for decades. Now I am a mom who came in with my own children and in all of my years I don't think I've ever been treated so rudely in a store. I worked retail for years. In the holidays. All all of it. I've worked customer service. They were so rude and Kurt. And I literally was trying to just buy things in the store. Horrible customer service. We didn't touch anything we didn't buy so it was not because of us. They were just rude and grumpy and making very rude marks to everyone shopping in their store. Wanting to help small businesses, especially after Covid I am really really saddened by this experience. I'm embarrassed for them and their poor behavior. Grown adults acting that way. After decades of shopping there I strongly recommend not giving them your time or money. This morning my family and I were in the store and my 13yo picked up a plushy football. He mimed that he was gonna throw it, but there was never a chance he would. He's never ever done anything like that. Either way, this old woman with blonde hair comes immediately over and starts saying, "no no stop." Immediately I thought to myself, "oh she's going in on a joke and say, 'your form is all wrong.'l But then she starts grilling this minor, "where you going to throw that?!" A lot of attitude and immediate judgement. My son was so apologetic and saying, "oh no. Definitely not." Of course I said, my son would never do that. Her response was "oh yeah, well just yesterday a boy came in here and took that plush soccer ball and kicked it." Then she mimed the height of this kid... He barely was taller than where my knees are... so probably 2 yo! I immediately had my kids leave the store and told the woman she was rude and wrong. She said she was "done with it all." Whatever that means. I sincerely hope this store closes!!! Karma needs to come after them! Not that it matters, but we're all white. I've seen a number of 1star reviews mentioning they were of different race. I wouldn't put it past the owners or staff to be racist too... but no matter what these are horrible people and I hope their shop closes! read more

This place drew me in with the same vibe that Mr. Toad's Wild Ride has at Disneyland. I can be a real sucker for cute, having worked in animation, and this store played me to a T. Everything is just soooo CUTE!!!! Collections of cuteness upon cuteness, paper weights, soap that looks like cake, tiny Santa Clauses with Airstream trailers, and a little glitter kitty Halloween card that made me buy it. Somehow, these curations of cute bring out the kid who collected glass animals (Yes, a veritable Glass Menagerie!), and I fall prey to their charm every time. I would not recommend this store at all. My family frequents Solvang yearly and we have never had an experience like the one we had yesterday. We were waiting on our table to be ready and walked in thinking we could find some nice gifts. Unfortunately, we left empty handed as we were confronted by clear racism from the woman running the store. My cousin pulled out her phone to call her mom and immediately was yelled at by the woman to not take any photos. She informed her it was just a phone call and it sent her on a rampage it seems, she yelled that she was "tired of it" and how she didn't care if we left a bad yelp review. We left almost immediately since we were so unwelcome. Unknowingly my younger 12 year old cousin walked in to browse and decided to take a selfie when the woman went on the same rampage as before. Keep in mind we are all Mexican. 3 of our white passing cousins walked in ranging from the ages of 12 to 15 and when they went in to browse they were met with kindness and were helped by the woman. My cousin even took a picture of a candle and she was kindly asked to put away her phone and to be careful as the item was very fragile. No rampage to be had apparently for them. We all decided to return to the store as a group and as we browsed she began to follow us around the store. We dispersed among the store. And as three of us stood together looking at plates, the woman told us we were blocking her walkway and we should move. We moved upon her request and as I pointed out some matches my cousin had bought the previous year she asked us if we were going to buy anything. We told her we were still looking and that sent her on a rampage once more. We decided it was time for us to go and we left. One of my cousins was still browsing closer to the register when she heard her call us bitches. When it was my turn, I also used a credit card and the girl rudely tells me she needs to see my ID. Which is not a problem if that's the policy, but she seemed to pick and choose whose ID she needed to see since she didn't ask my husband. (He's White and I'm Mexican by the way). I bought a glass ornament and she practically broke it when she slammed it down on the register. When we were done we said bye and thank you and she rolls her eyes and turns away. How can you run a business with that sort of attitude. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The owner is extremely racist and rude. We came as a group of 20 to eat at the place next door. A group of 3 of us went in to look around and while we were looking around she started to follow fixing things that we touched as we went. We dispersed as we started to look around, I was by the candles, my friend was by the front of the store while her cousin was by the back near the register. My friend (the one by the front) had her phone out and the owner quite literally ran up and checked her phone and screamed out " YOU BETTER NOT BE TAKING A PICTURE" which took us all by surprise and all my friend could do was say no and awkwardly laugh. Then she proceeded to go on rant saying she's tired of people taking pictures and she doesn't care if we perceive her as rude. Then she mentioned that we " better not leave her a yelp review", because we would just be " wasting our breath" and she " doesn't care about them anyways". We went back outside mind you we are 22-24 yr old Mexicans. Another group we came with whose ages ranged from 12-16 went in and the lady again started to ranting to them saying that if they weren't going to buy anything then why bother looking and that they weren't allowed to take pictures and her whole spiel. The younger group were also more on the tan side. Two of our white passing group members went in and their experience was completely diffrent than ours , they said she was giving gift recommendations and asking if they needed help etc. one of the adults went in with the group of 12-16 and the lady went off gave her whole spiel and called the girls ( minors) bitches and that they don't intimidate her, then she proceeded to say she didn't say it and she meant to say it under her breath however they heard her?? I've never been to a store which could be this adorable. It looked like the ones we see in Fairytales. Everything they sold at the shop was so beautiful and unique. While talking to the staff working at the store, they told us that the owners travel to different parts of the world to handpick these gorgeous items. They carry a wide range of things from aromatic soaps & candles, beautiful cards/stationary, jewelry, hair & skincare products, clothes, handbags, crockery, souvenirs of Solvang and lot many things. The list is just too long. The prices are a slightly on the spendy side but I think the things you would buy here are worth the price. You definitely need to check out this shop to appreciate its beauty. A MUST VISIT!! Heck! I wanted to buy everything here. We bought a cute pair of Christmas themed lamps which every time I see makes me feel so happy! A very unique gift shop! Everything from fancy lotions, candles, soaps to cute cards/stationary, t-shirts, wooden boxes, shot glasses, chocolates, tea sets and dish towels. I spent nearly a bill getting little gifts for my boyfriend's family. I think the most unique thing I've seen was the soaps that look like cake slices. They smell amazing and they look like you could just take a bite. Lovely little shop to get a gift or souvenir. Definitely more unique than all the other souvenir shops which sell novelty danish items like wooden clogs and postcards. The Mole hole is a treasure trove of knick knacks, home decor, jewelry and so much more, that apparently I missed the upstairs portion of the store upon my visit. I've shopped in the Mole Hole every year for at least 30 years, and have always enjoyed exploring their unique and eclectic items. I was there last week, bringing my mom and daughter to shop, and was very disappointed at how the two ladies who work there treated us. All of our questions were answered in a snarky manner, and they seemed disturbed that we were asking for certain items, which they had but were under some tables. Although it shouldn't matter how much money someone is spending to be treated as if your business is appreciated, we were there to spend a serious amount between the three of us. We left with the bare minimum, because it was clear they were not interested in being friendly and appreciative of our support of their small business. Very disappointing. read more

I have been here more than once, and always receive top-notch service. I am not exactly the most stylish of dressers, so they could maybe want to skip by me, but they don't. Every time I go to Solvang, I stop there to get some Wee Forest Folk mice, that they only have. I highly recommend the shop.
