We were recently passing through Los Olivos and happened to park in the little lot where Pumacasu is tucked away. The shop immediately caught my eyeso we wandered in and were greeted by Carlos and Christine. Extremely nice and interesting antique wine tool and hand made jewerly shop located off the main street in Los Olivos. We really came across this shop by accident while walking to a wine tasting where the antique display immediately caught my attention. Upon entering the shop I was immediately greeted by Carlos, the owner of the shop, with a warm smile and handshake. Carlos is an expat Argentinian who is fluent in six languages and does translation work for the legal system. His side business is this antique wine tool shop which he clearly has a passion for and loves discussing the historical nature of the tools he has on display. During our time in this shop, Carlos gave us an in depth discussion on how and why the antique wine cork pullers and sommelier keys were developed in a mesmerizing story line fashion. If you are into wine like I am and an engineer to boot, it was absolutely fascinating to learn the details of these tools and how they evolved over time. The tools if you buy them will become the center piece of any discussion in your home when you serve your wine and seriously complement your wine collection/cellar. You would be taking your wine get togethers with family and friends to the next level by re-spinning Carlos historical story to them. The other facet of these antique wine tools, aside from the fun/pleasure they provide in owning them, is they are an investable asset as well that will increase in value over time and Carlos has the Christies catalogs to back this up. Carlos and Christine are beyond amazing humans. Such a sweet couple, and provided the most amazing customer service. Carlos gave us a beautiful, intricate, and captivating history of wine corkscrews where I learned so much about wine that I never knew! We bought a bracelet made purely by his wife Christine, that we adore oh so much. She even offered to do any adjustments for free down the line if something were to happen to it. If it didn't get better than that, Carlos even had an extra gift for us at the end after we made a purchase which completely took us by surprise - (apparently that is an Argentinian custom where you give a gift on top of another gift). I unfortunately forgot what that Argentinian word was! Please step into their shop. You will leave a better person, feeling lighter and happier just like we did (and just not because you're drunk off wine already). read more

Carlos is the best and his beautiful wife makes the jewelry and she engraved her business inside the rings and all jewelry. I walked by to take a look at the beautiful ancient cork screws and Carlos came outside and gave me a brief history lesson on how Corkscrews were very important towards the Princesses and Dutches' in the 1800. True story....I followed a wolf into this shop. Yes, a wolf. For anyone who knows me this was probably one of the most amazing days of my life. I happened to be standing in the wine shop next door and saw this huge wolf walking by with another dog friend. I knew immediately that he was a wolf. I followed him into this cute little shop that I had somehow never been into despite all of our trips up to Los Olivos. The owner gave me a jerky treat and I got to shake hands with the wolf :) So awesome. Once the excitement wore off, we got a chance to look around and chat with the other owner about everything being sold here. They make their own jewelry and trinkets but I would say the highlight would be all of the antique bottle openers and wine accessories that are laid out on the tables. They had cool keys and corkscrews from the 1800's, all kinds of crazy collectible things. This is definitely a place to stop by and visit while in Los Olivos. read more

This place really is amazing. And that goes way beyond the incredible jewelry and antique wine items that they sell. The owners are the sweetest people I've met in a very long time. Don't be surprised if this place becomes a must stop after your first visit. And you may spend hours in there with no pressure to buy; but only to listen to history of wine, and ask questions on hundreds of stones you have never heard of. As for the shop, it is much more fun to create custom jewelry than to buy it at some department store. My wife Mary and I are club members of Artiste, the winery next door. Last weekend we decided to take a look in Pumacasu to see what they had and hours of fun followed. We were greeted by Carlos and soon were introduced to Christine. They both are wonderful, friendly people who are extremely knowledgable and talented at their crafts. I became intrigued with the history of many of the one antique items Carlos was displaying and ended up buying several piece to start my own collection. We also ended up having Christine make me a custom ring and bought my wife a pair of earrings she already had made. My ring was not easy as it is a size 14 "pinkie" ring but she had it done to pick up the next day before we headed back to Bakersfield. My wife loves her earrings. I can't wait to return in September on our next camping trip to the coast area so I can have some additional pieces made for my wife, add some items to my new collection, pick up a gift or two for some friends, and spend some time with two of the most wonderful folks we've ever met. Reasonably priced treasures found here. They sell antique wine cork screws and custom jewelry with unique stones mainly in silver but they can make with gold as well. We purchased one ring and two custom bracelets from her. The owner also transformed my medical alert bracelet (silver and gold custom bracelet) into a gorgeous piece that I was hiding.(I felt like I had a banner on my forehead.) They are very reasonably priced for gorgeous custom made jewlery. So no, it is not cheap but extremely well priced for the custom jewelry, weight of silver/gold etc. .... You HAVE to go but prepare to slow down and try things on. Make sure to talk to the jeweler and she will end up transforming or making something for you. GO GO GO! read more
