I was so happy to come back to this shop after a long hiatus. The atmosphere is clean and lit up so you can clearly see the coins. Steve is a wealth of knowledge and gives the best prices in the area by far. Don't be one of those people that doesn't do your homework then sells stuff and then goes and look up retail prices and think you got scammed and now you have seller's remorse, it's lame. I was referred to Steve by a friend who had done business with him and highly recommended him. I wanted to sell some gold items I had for years. I had already taken my items to an actual jeweler, and had I agreed to sell to them I needed to bring my items back another day. Steve took me immediately even though he was closing soon. I brought in a 12.3 pound Sterling Silver platter plus two more sterling silver platters and a coffee and tea set , including a cream and sugar pieces (sterling silver). Unfortunately my son who helped me carry this all in was on his day off work and I knew he had things to do. I didn't want to take up too much of his time. I left with a small bag of 6 pounds 8 ounces of silver coins. I came back later and had written out everything that I brought in and asked him to check his cameras and he basically just told me to leave and get out of his store. I got totally ripped off of about $20k. I should've gone with my gut feeling and taken it all back and had somebody else give me a price for a second opinion. read more

I cannot understand this rating for this shop... someone must be getting paid to write reviews. My friend and I got sooo ripped off. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE. We did our homework and we still allowed ourselves to get bamboozled, we are sick to our stomachs. The owner, Steve, not his wife, but the "main" man and owner really gave us the seemingly sensible speech ( which we now realize was a scammy sales pitch) about how silver is not that certain coin "sets" have depreciated. Long story short he talked us into 1/3 of the actual value of 5 sets of uncirculated silver and gold coins . He even showed us in the book. Later when we got home we realized he had skipped down a line when showing us our coins "value" so we showed our coin images to another professional coin dealer. They showed us actual purchase value. And we had received less than one third of a purchase price . Please feel free to contact me for photos and my receipt. We got TAKEN! Don't be as stupid as us. Every time we've worked with Steve, he's provided us valuable knowledge, and has provided a fair price on our items. An important point to note, is that when dealing with Gold companies, don't look up retail price and expect to get that amount, but rather look up spot or wholesale prices and you'll find that working with Steve you'll get a really great deal. We had so many coins collected thru the years with very little knowledge of their worth. I had also inherited jewelry from multiple relatives that I knew I would never wear or pass down. I went there to cash in various coins I inherited several years ago and pretty much got what I expected. The dude I dealt with was kind of haughty and smug, but to be fair, if I was sitting on so much gold, silver, and other metallic and paper treasures, I'd probably be kind of haughty and smug, too. Although not being a numismatic kinda guy, I did some research before going there, but still got quite an education. If you suddenly receive a bunch of old coins and want to get rid of them, take advantage of the Internet to shop around brokers (I wonder why they're called "brokers"?) and to look up coins that are unfamiliar to you, as you never know what may fall into your lap. P.S. State quarters will be worth somewhat more than a quarter about 1000 or 2000 years from now, but for the time being, use them for vending machines, laundrymats, or wishing wells. Also, if you got a $2 bill and a dollar, half-dollar, quarter, dime, nickel and penny from 1976, consider yourself fortunate that you have three dollars and ninety-one cents....at least they're still worth that. read more

This was my first time at the store. My dad is an amateur coin collector (no need to try and rob him--he does it for fun and doesn't have much.) Anyways, pops took me here today. Was kind of an adventure. It's in midtown Ventura, somewhat near Ventura high school. Store was super clean, inside and out. We walked thru the first door and then was buzzed in the second gate. Dad started talking to a guy behind the counter and I browsed the selection of coins and other currencies showcased in the store. After checking things out, I approached the counter where my dad was and I met the worker he was talking to. Steve, who was the guy working introduced himself to me and joined me in the conversation he was having about prices of silver and other precious metals. I have not been familiar with the way physical silver is priced and valued and Steve was very patient in explaining me the concepts of pricing. After a brief discussion and sharing that this was my first time, he helped me selecting a couple of pieces. I attached pictures. Steve and the other workers were extremely friendly, helpful, and seemed legit. I read the previous reviews, and honestly...can hardly believe the story in the negative review. These dudes were straight up the entire time, and did not sense any games being played. They were funny and relatable. I have already told this story. I visited 8 businesses when I decided to sell my old wedding band. I was offered everything from $15 to $65. I knew the price of gold was worth more than that. The 2 worst offenders were Nerces Fine Jewelry (horrible people, don't go there) and Ventura Pawn Shop on Thompson (animals) So I walked into Pacific Coast Coin. It was a pleasure walking around and looking at the suits of armour, ancient coins and this weird dude showed up who had made a ring for them out of a silver dollar. I honestly didn't mind waiting. In the end they took my comfort fit white gold band and paid me $95. They said that it was fair market for the gold. It was somewhere between 18 and 22k. Just visit them and you'll want to buy a sweet Kennedy half dollar. read more

Went into PCC looking to make a small silver investment. They had what I needed/was looking for on hand in their inventory. Furthermore, the staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and treated me professionally. Best of all- got a very fair price over spot! I have dealt with other places that treat me as a burden because I am not making a sizable purchase of precious metal. NOT HERE-I explained my experience as a precious metal investor and I was still treated the same as the regulars that were shopping simultaneously; I even was coached up on a few things that I didn't know previously.
