This guy Bought my gold for 30% sell it for 120% over what they bought it for. Customer service was an alright experience. I went in there with an 8.7g white gold ring... the owner tried offering me $70... and acted like I was bothering him even being there. Tons of other places in town all with better items for sale and don't look like they havnt had a new item brought in their shop in years!... I can see why!... skip this place all together trust me your not missing a thing!... oh and if your wondering the math works out to $267.00 (with current spot price of gold) I ended up getting 200 for it elsewhere. So today a little karmic miracle happened to me. I was getting my car fixed and I decided to walk around the 99¢ store shopping plaza while I waited. I went in to a couple shops and then popped into the Pawn shop. I talked to Raul, the shop owner, for a few minutes then continued browsing the various items on the shelves. Then I saw this ring. It was my Mothers ring. (One of them) It was taken from me after she passed away by a person who was renting a room at the time. I reported what I could, but my mom never had it registered on her insurance and I didn't have a picture of any of the jewelry that was taken. I had accepted that I would just never see any of her valuables again. This particular ring she wore frequently. She said it was from one of her previous marriages, I honestly don't know if that was the truth, but it was sentimental to her. It was also my favorite piece of jewelry of hers and I asked if it would be my wedding ring someday haha. As I told this to Raul, I had asked him when the ring was brought in and we shared some details of things. Even though I reported her stolen jewelry, ( I was 19 and didn't have photos of any of the specific items and she didn't have them documented with the home owners insurance, the police said there wasn't much they could do except file a report that unspecified valuables were stolen). Raul said he would hold it for me until Monday and lower the price so I could think about it. I had no intention of asking for a discount even though it was my mothers. In my logical thinking I wasn't sure if I would wear it so I wasn't sure I could afford to buy it. But seeing it again might have been enough for me. My boyfriend met up with me for lunch and I told him what I found. We walked back into the pawn shop and Ryan bought my mothers ring for me, I wasn't even going to ask him to do that. Raul is a very kind and honest person, and I will forever be thankful for his kindness. Most people are very skeptical about pawn shops and feel that employees will 'scam' you into believing that a certain item is worth way more than it is or will tell you something isn't authentic if you are selling it so they don't have to pay you a lot for it. SOME are like that, but NOT this shop, at least not from what I experienced. So, Raul, if you read this know hat my story has been shared and heard by many people and they are aware of your kindness. The owner was blunt which I cam appreciate buy it doesnt suit his personality and he low balled me then told me to check a pawn shop in Oxnard or Ventura which I did and Pawn Dogs in Oxnard gave me incredible service. BE WARNED! You WILL get ripped off doing business with them. I brought in some jewelry for a loan and was told that my gold ring (18k @ 8oz), was only worth $40 at the most. NASDAQ gold value on 11/26/14 was around $1196 an oz. (he quoted $1150) Years ago I took out a loan on the same ring from a pawn shop in Ventura on Thompson Blvd. and they loaned me $150 when the price of gold was only slightly higher than the current rate! I asked the man at Lucky Pawn if he wanted to see the receipt from the other pawn shop, but he refused. When I got home, I did some research online for prices and found a website that will calculate the price for scrap metals by karat and grams according to current Troy oz value. That sites calculation for that ring is worth about $230.00; with a price spread of 30%, it is worth at the least $160. The site is CoinApps.com. Two days later, I decided to sell the ring instead and took it to GoldFellows in Thousand Oaks and they gave me a fair price. Ask for Joel instead of the gal that works there. I Wouldn't recommend going to this establishment to anyone. I have never had been treated with disrespect within the first 30 seconds of walking in. I dropped by to see what I could get for my guitar that I paid 3000 brand new. He asked me what I was looking to get for it and I said 1000 a third of the cost. He just said " that's not gonna happen your crazy". In the most rude of condescending manner someone could muster up. I asked if he knew what it was and worth. He responded that this is what he does for a living. So if you want to get disrespected unless you are willing be taken advantage off and disrespected, then run on down to Lucky Pawn they will kick you when you down then take your wallet. read more
