My husband took me there for a gift 20 years ago he proposed there. We bought our wedding sets there when Mr.Thompson was alive the sales lady was so nice and Mr. Thompson was so helpful with the diamond purchase. No one looked at us like we did not belong. They were so very nice we bought several things there. We went back recently for my diamonds to be cleaned and prongs inspected ( we were told to always bring it there for cleaning and inspection). For some strange reason they did not have us in there system, they had to set up new account. We always come with our purchase receipt and cleaning paperwork. A lady asked "did the buy anything here" the other lady said yes then her tone changed. I felt because I was not wearing Prada or Channel or we did not look the part of the clientele that looks very wealthy they did not want to spend any time with us. We have spent several thousands there but not anymore. Things have totally changed since Mr. Thompson died. We left I looked at my ring it did not look cleaned so my husband turned around went inside again and told them. 20 years ago George made it possible for me to get an amazing engagement ring, VS1 with very few inclusions, and the yellowness was offset by a distinct blue coloring so it looks more 'white' than it really is. Bummer the new lab-grown diamonds have killed the market; the ring is worth 1/4 of what it used to be, but it was never intended to be sold again anyway. If you want to buy now, I'm sure they still have deals, and your money will go much further now than it did years ago. I think they make most of their money in the gold business now. I wanted to get something nice I have a card with synchrony credit and as I applied for there with synchrony and it did not go through when I already have a crefit with synchrony that was disappointing but the other thing is that I feel that they should have other finance options the sales person that I dealt with was more interested in another customer that came in and as she was talking to me, she kept on staring at the other salesperson with that customer as to get her attention when I was in front of her and she should've put her efforts into me. It almost seemed like two sales people fighting for a commission. Kathleen all your doing is targeting the credit but you did not address the poor unprofessional service i received, as far as credit is concerned i own a business and for my customers i have 5 different credit options my approval rate so far is 99% to accommodate my customers needs. We had him add the diamond to our engagement setting, it was put in crooked, and then they "filed/melted" or whatever they do.. they made my ring band thickness way thinner also- without me asking for that. What a sleazy little place. The husband bought an engagement ring from there 15 years ago in 2004. In 2019, we went back to purchase diamond bands and have the diamond reset. What a horrible mistake. The staff was very happy to sell us a $5k band but when the prong on the diamond broke ONE YEAR LATER everything changed. First of all the atmosphere and staff had dramatically changed, it now felt like a creepy massage parlor. They informed me that the reason the prong on the diamond ring broke was my fault since I did not return in 6 months to have the ring "looked at." I paid $400 to fix the ring. Then in March 2021 the ring broke, literally in half!!! I have diamond rings purchased in the 1980s (from the jewelry district in LA) without any issues or problems let alone a broken ring. The manager was horrible.. never apologized or even had a kind word. I was furious ... she was bored and irritated. My only solace is that we will never spend $8k there again. Stay away from these unethical, insensitive con artists. read more

My 1st transaction with them was more than a decade ago buying an engagement ring, later a custom wedding band, and about 5 years ago an additional ring. We've had a stone replaced after it fell out and went missing, and did a rhodium re-plating. About every 6 months I have to take the rings back in for inspection & cleaning. Minus one experience they've treated me as an extremely valued customer every time. I chalk that up to an employee eager to get a sale on a returning customer dropping in unexpected versus do ring maintenance. I understand they recently changed ownership within the family. I bought 2 ct. diamond stud earrings for Mothers Day/Birthday for my Mom. I bought them online at a inexpensive wholesaler. I paid approx. $2000 and when they arrived they were just hideous. I did select the grade and clarity but couldn't believe how bad they looked when they arrived. So, the day before Mother's Day I walked into GT and thought I'd see what he had to offer before giving up. Kent assisted me and I told him my story. He said they didn't sell diamonds like the ones I returned but he'd see what he had that might come close. We found another 2 ct. pair and they were a higher price but so much nicer than my internet "bargain pair." Kent blew me away when he quoted the price to be significantly lower than what I'd paid online. I never expected this and was so happy to buy them. They weren't a gazillion dollars, but they were clear, pretty and they sparkled (unlike the horrid pair I found online at that "other" place.) While all of this transpired, I noticed a gentleman shopping and looking at the cases of jewelry while Kent helped me. This man, dressed in Dodger Blue, turned out to be Mr. Thompson. He said he'd been listening and was glad that I returned them and came into his shop. He was very kind, very knowledgeable and gave me a fair and honest deal. He saved the day, literally and Mom loved the earrings. Thank you to Kent and to Mr. Thompson for helping me and giving me excellent service to find just what I needed. I went into GT to get a quote on a custom two diamond ring for my anniversary using stones I already had. I was quoted much, much less than a local Camarillo jeweler. I asked Sue if they could clean my other rings while we talked. She came back right away and informed me that my wedding ring was at risk of losing the diamond. The ring could not be repaired only remade. I was devastated to know that the ring I wore the past 25 years couldn't be worn. Sue was very helpful and gave me all my options. I ended up finding a ring that looked like my original wedding band, just more grand! The purchase was unexpected but in the end I am thrilled. Sue got my ring sized so quickly because she knew I was leaving town the next day. This is my second purchase from GT with a different sales person. I've always been made to feel welcome.
