    Burger and onion rings
    Saralee S.

The beautiful setting here on the golf course really is relaxing after a hectic drive through downtown Solvang. It is probably one of the main attractions of this grill. We came on an overcast, rainy day in the middle of the week for my husband's birthday and sat inside for the first time. We got a window table with the same great view that you get outside. The overcast skies didn't dampen our spirits, and we ordered right away from the menu. I got my favorite Southwestern salad, that comes with a little cornbread muffin, and my husband got a burger with onion rings. The service was very friendly and welcoming, and the place was not too crowded. We have always had to wait for a table when we arrive on a weekend. The food came out quickly. I really enjoy the southwestern flavors of the substantial salad, with a mildly spicy dressing on the side. My husband's burger was amply well done, and he devoured it. We had a good time watching the clouds scud across the sky, bringing their promise of rain.

Food was good our salad was fresh and the steak was seasoned and cooked well, the vaquero burger with fries was delicious! We also ordered a mimosa which we weren't a fan of because it was missing a little bit of orange juice too strong for a mimosa. The place overall was clean and the restroom was very put together. Our server was very attentive, helpful and kind. This restaurant is dog friendly at the outdoor area which we enjoyed with the beautiful and relaxing scenery. The con we had was that the wait time was a little too long and the umbrellas were too close and not placed well with the tables and seating, we experienced someone's table get knocked from it and glass shattered over a customer which is a safety issue they can fix. Definitely worth trying their food we had a good time

    Chipotle chicken sandwich!!

Came to the River Grill for the last day of restaurant week! My mom and I had been checking out the River Grill for restaurant week since before it began but didn't make it until the last day. The River Grill itself is very nice! Lots of windows to let in natural light with a view that overlooks the hills and golf course. We were brought some water not long after being seated and had our order taken. On this day, my mom and I decided to split our order! To start, we got the Harvest Salad. It had plenty of toppings that created a variety of flavors and textures that surprisingly made for a somewhat unique salad experience. It was very delicious. For the main course, my mom and I opted for the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. Since I don't eat red meat, I asked if the bacon could be put on the side and they kindly accommodated the request. Honestly the sandwich was sooooo good! I'm definitely a sandwich enthusiast and this one hit every mark for me. The bread was warm and toasted, the chicken was still steaming from being so fresh out of the kitchen, and there was a perfect ratio of all of the toppings to create a perfect sandwich moment. I got the sauce all over my hands in my enthusiasm for consuming it. For dessert, a Smores Brownie Sundae was the finisher. It was very delicious! My mom is very hit or miss with desserts, since she doesn't like overly sweet things, but agreed that this one was perfect! The marshmallow was toasted and gooey, the brownie was fudgey, and the cold vanilla ice cream perfectly brought everything together. Overall, I had a really good experience at the River Grill. Would definitely be more than happy to come back.

    Cold breakfast

Service was with a smile, but the food was cold. The hash browns and bacon had the taste of old grease. Toast was not toasted and cold. The fruit cup had sour pineapple in it. The only good thing were the poached eggs. Perfectly cooked, but again Cold! Not for me. The price was too much for cold bad tasting food. Looks are deceiving.

    Golfer's Special
    Thalia R.

Arrived at 9 AM and it was pretty empty. By the time we left it was pretty busy with people sitting outside as well. Service was great! The Golfer's Special was a filling breakfast having both pancakes for something sweet and the standard egg/sausage/hashbrown. This is a good spot if you're wanting a more calmer early breakfast and if you're there early enough you won't have to wait for a table.

The restaurant is located at the golf course with the proshop. Marked River Grill over the doorway outside. I went for breakfast one morning recently and sat at the bar. The service was professional and friendly. Coffee with eggs over medium, with bacon, wheat toast and hash browns. A standard of most American breakfast eateries. The eggs cooked properly, with just a little bit of soft york. The bacon was good and the hash browns grilled nicely. Its toast, it wasnt burned and served its purpose. 3.5 Stars - rounded up 00842

Eggs Benedict with broken hollandaise sauce and tough Canadian bacon

I visited on 12/21/24. We usually dine at Paulas Pancakes but their waitlist was closed. This place was recommend by a local store owner he frequents this establishmentand & his daughter got married here. With such high praise we were really excited to try this place out. I was disappointed when I received my eggs benedict with a broken hollandaise sauce. Unfortunately it gave my meal a grainy texture on top of that the Canadian bacon was burnt and tough. My husband ordered a sandwich his mean taste fine. The view was beautiful. The service was really slow. We didn't get offered refills and had to chase down the waitress for our bill after waiting so long after our meal.

Great restaurant with good service and food! The view at the outside table was amazing! A local people favorite! Must try!

Super cute place for breakfast or lunch! The view of the hills and golf course is amazing! Indoor and outdoor seating. Straight forward food menu. Love the California Omelette with in house salsa, cheddar and bacon. Fresh fruits on the plate! Great service. Huge parking lot, right next to the course. Local gem, away from touristy area. My new favorite!

My husband suggested this place since he has eaten here before & he happens to work with this golf course. He mentioned that the food was pretty good & since there is a beautiful view, I wasn't mad about it. I was pretty excited as we drove up to the restaurant. It looked beautiful! We were promptly greeted & seated. We chose a table close to the door. Then we got menus. We knew right away what each of us wanted. Ruben & onion rings fir hubby. Cheeseburger & fries for our nephew (cuz burgers are his "passion"). Southwestern Salad for me with salmon in place of the chicken. We bout our drinks first. Then my husband got his chicken tortilla soup, which he said was yummy, despite the 106 weather outside. Why he got soup on a hot AF day, I will never understand, but you do you, boo. Anyways, we hit our food & it all looked yummy! My salad was close to perfect! It was perfectly crispy & fresh. The salmon wasn't seasoned, but no biggie, since the dressing had plenty of flavor. EVERY BITE WAS DELICIOUS! We all enjoyed our food. I think we would have stayed longer, had it not been so hot. And we enjoyed refills of our drinks. I even got a lemonade, because it was that hot & I typically just get water. So thus was highly unusual for me. We will definitely come back again! If I wore something cuter, like a sundress, I would have taken pics. BEAUTIFUL OUTDOOR VIEWS!!!

Got the cheese burger with onion rings and the meat was cooked medium well, very juicy and flavorful. I left no crumbs. Chefs kiss

Our party of 4 was seated and waited about 20-30 minutes without a waiter in sight. Meanwhile, a table seated after us had already placed their order and received drinks. I eventually had to flag someone down, and they mentioned they would get our waiter. They later returned and took our order themselves, saying our waiter, Christian, would be with us shortly. To Christian's credit, he did apologize when he arrived, but throughout dinner the service continued to fall short. He would stop by asking if everything was okay while our cups sat empty, then walk away without offering refills. We had to specifically ask for water and drink refills. At the end of the meal, we also weren't asked about dessert or whether we needed anything else. We had to ask for the check and he pulled out of his vest. That said, the restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. The outdoor seating is beautiful, especially the built-in fireplaces at the tables, which we really enjoyed. The live music also added a nice touch to the evening. Food-wise, the appetizers were the highlight. The ceviche and flautas were excellent. There's a cute sticker machine at the wait area, for a dollar you can get a random sticker in either the peasants farm/feast brand, or what I think are local brands and artists? We chose the local brands and the slight disappointment when a sole Enegren sticker was revealed, washed over us (none of us drink). But I enjoy it being there. Despite the chill there's plenty of heaters around that make the meal plenty enjoyable. The food is around $20-30 per person if you're being stingy like us and not ordering extras like drinks or starters. And the menu rotates daily I think, everything that was recommended to me by friends wasn't on the menu. But I felt pretty full with just half the fig grilled cheese for a meal and snaking on the rest later in the day. It was the perfect blend of savory sweet, like a cheesy geode with a rock exterior of Parmesan crispy bits flaking off and rich bread but inside was gooey soft cheese that was elevated with a satisfyingly sweet fig jam. The dipping sauce the potatoes were given is kind of boring, it looked colorful but felt like just a spicy mayo. The soup was a zappy blend of carrot, ginger, and turmeric? It felt like one of those health shots subdued down smooth with cream. Our server offered bread with it and we did assume it would be $5+ but it isn't listed in the menu to my knowledge. The hot chicken was really good though, there's a multifaceted layer where you can taste the sweetness of the bread, the kick of the pickles, the crunch of the breading, and finally the succulent chicken. At the front counter a young lady greeted us and somehow immediately knew that we were there for the æbleskiver. :) From the register you can watch them being freshly made. Our order was ready in just a few minutes. We sat on a bench right outside. Our daughter was back to being a kid savoring the warm fluffy goodness of the Danish treat. We find them best with the slightly sweet and tart raspberry jam, covered in powdered sugar. This was a perfect start to our day in Solvang!

Alright y'all, don't let the long wait scare you away , it is absolutely worth it!…read more From the moment we sat down, the service was great. The girls working there were attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving despite how busy the place was. Before coming in, we read all the reviews about the chilaquiles, and since that's one of my all-time favorite breakfast dishes, I came in with high expectations. I ordered the chilaquiles half-and-half style with both red and green sauce plus chorizo... and they delivered! Both sauces were seriously good. By the end of the meal, I think the green sauce barely won me over, but honestly it was a tough decision because both were delicious. And don't sleep on the waffles either those were amazing too!

Brekkies was hands down the best food my family and I had while on our mini vacation in Solvang!…read more We arrived around 8:30am on a Saturday to a small line, but it moved fairly quickly. You order at the counter and then they have you sit at a table - they do not allow you to sit before ordering which I liked. It allows for the kitchen and staff to stay on top of orders and to help everything run smoothly - plus it cuts down on allowing people to save tables. We ordered the Belgian Waffle, Corned Beef Hash, Biscuits and Gravy and Danish Pancake. Everything was fresh and delicious, including the coffee and fresh squeezed OJ! The inside has a decent amount of seating, I believe there might have been an additional room as well, plus outdoor seating. Staff were very friendly and personable! They came around and checked on us, refilled water/coffee and cleaned plates. Overall, we absolutely loved this place - we almost came back again on Sunday, but the line was really long and we needed to get on the road to head home! Fun fact: Brekkies is British slang for...breakfast! Also, the owner of Brekkies also owns 2 or 3 other businesses in town included Chomp Burgers which was also very good! If you're ever in Solvang and looking for a breakfast/brunch spot, I highly suggest checking out Brekkies!
