We walked in late in the afternoon and were really happy to finally sit down and get some food. The pizza was pretty good. However, the pasta was extremely salty. We originally wanted to order steak, but they had run out, so the waitress recommended the pork chop instead. Omg the pork chop tasted very strange -- almost like it had gone bad. Avoid coming here while visiting Solvang. A local recommended this restaurant to us, but unfortunately the customer service was extremely disappointing. The waiters were rude and refused to let us speak with a manager. We went on Valentine's weekend Sunday night, and the restaurant was only about 50% full. Despite that, we were seated right by the entrance while it was 55 degrees outside and we had our toddler with us. When we politely asked for a different table, a young guy with bleached blonde hair told us, "That's all we have." When we asked to speak to a manager, Jessica came over and immediately asked, "What's the matter?" in a very dismissive tone. She claimed they were fully reserved, which didn't make sense given how empty the restaurant looked, and still refused to accommodate us. This was one of the rudest service experiences I've ever had. I came to Toscana during Valentine's Day weekend with my boyfriend on a Sunday during our trip to solvang. The ambiance is incredible, it's in a cute courtyard and walking distance from our hotel in downtown (the Winston). I got the lasagna and my bf got the ravioli. We got seated by the bar as we walked in without reservations and they accommodated us in a very timely manner. The lasagna had a bit too much red sauce for me personally but it was good. The ravioli was better. The tiramisu was average. They ran out of bread as well. Overall, a nice experience with average Italian food. read more

Excellent server but our food was a disappointment. We loved the fresh warm focaccia! Highly recommend ordering as a starter! I would suggest sticking with pizza and avoid the pasta dishes. Pizzas looked great, however, we had great pizzas for lunch! We ordered two pasta dishes. I had the scallops with risotto, a special, and my husband had the braised beef ravioli. My scallops were okay, better if they were pan seared. The risotto was a bright yellow color, I expected a saffron flavor based on the color. The taste was completely off and I couldn't figure out what the taste was supposed to be, a bit sweet but whatever it was meant to be definitely did not compliment the scallops and wasn't edible. Sad as the risotto had a nice texture and cooked right, just have no idea what the base was, usually broth based. This was a special only on the board and was not explained by the server nor any menu description on the board. I love risotto (and make it frequently) hence why the disaapointment. My husband's ravioli were just okay. He thought the quality seemed more like frozen vs housemade. For $30 there was only four ravioli on the plate. Value and quality missing. Popped in for a pickup this past weekend, and dang, really wished we could have eaten here! Toscana is adorable and tucked into a lovely little plaza. It has the most romantic courtyard for outdoor seating complete with fairy lights and a fountain. The pizzas were delicious! Thin chewy crust with a crispy edge, generous toppings, and delicious flavors. We had the Genovese and the Quattro Stagioni. Highly recommend! Kat took my order over the phone and went out of her way to help accommodate my family's dietary restrictions by suggesting dishes and alternatives they could whip up. She called when all the food was ready and made sure we had the utensils and plates we needed. She even took care to pack the Bruschetta separately so 1) it wouldn't get soggy and 2) the cold tomatoes would not get warm from contact with the hot food. I really appreciated her kindness and fantastic service. Definitely check out Toscana if you're in town and craving Italian food! read more

We've been here several times and we absolutely love it. It's one of our favorite spots when we're staying in Solvang for a couple days. We usually kick off the order with either Insulate Caprese or the Carpaccio di Manzo, depending on our mood. We usually a share a few things, but we almost always order the Melanzane alla parmigiana (my absolute fav--so good!) and one of the pizzas. The melanzane all parmigiana is so light and delicious. The pizzas a great--perfect thin crust with a nice crunch and so much flavor. We usually have a hard time picking which one to share. We love to sit at the bar to socialize with the team and other folks around us while enjoying a glass of wine. Service is always very friendly and attentive. The owner is usually there too and he is fantastic. He's always a great host and we enjoy his conversation. We always look forward to coming here. If you're here with a larger group than two, I recommend sitting outside on a nice evening. The ambiance is perfect and great for an evening with friends or family. The first night we split the watermelon and arugula focaccia bread (outstanding and piping hot) and a margarita pizza, which was so big we had enough to take back to the hotel and hat it for a quick lunch. Tonight we split the arugula and lemon salad (the dressing was amazing) and the special ricotta ravioli- that was not as great as the other items but that is probably personal preference. In town for the first time with a friend and her two dogs and we weren't sure where we could have dinner with the dogs so when we saw Toscana in the courtyard we walked over to inquire and so happy they were dog friendly! We decided to split the arugula salad which was huge and equal to the best I've had. It's one of my favourites so was happy with how good this is. We also split the trecolore pizza I believe it was called. Basically the margherita with added fresh tomato. Loved the crust but the sauce was a little bland but our server brought over some chili for us and some Parmesan and all was right with the world! We sat outside and it was a little cool so they had the heaters on and that made it comfortable. Every server there was friendly and helpful and good at their job. I had a very disappointing experience at Toscano. We were seated right by the entrance where cold air kept blowing in every time the door opened. It was extremely uncomfortable. We politely asked if we could move to another table, especially since the restaurant appeared mostly empty, but our request was denied without much explanation or effort to accommodate us. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were told there wasn't one available. Shortly after, a staff member named Jessica approached us and spoke in a very rude and unprofessional manner. She raised her voice and made a scene, saying they had no other tables available except for reservations. The way the situation was handled made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. After that interaction, I honestly didn't feel at ease staying to enjoy the meal. Customer service makes a big difference, and unfortunately this experience fell far below expectations. Every time I visit Solvang I have to make a pitstop here. I met the owners about four years ago as I was in town for the Christmas tree lighting. Well, it lived up to its rating. Help was friendly, "patio" was kind of seating in the parking lot (very mid), food was ok. Arugula salad had way too much lemon and pepper, it was hard to eat. Margherita pizza is delicious, but it was cheese pizza not margherita. Cacio e Pepe was drowning in oily cheesy sauce, was hard to eat much. Servers are nice, a little frantic and they made a big mistake on our bill. Fixed it quickly. If you go, recommend eating inside, sticking to pizza, and reviewing bill carefully. read more

We were able to walk in without a reservation on a Friday around 6pm and be seated right away outside. The outdoor seating is in a cute courtyard with a fountain. It was a little chilly and I saw they had heat lamps but no one ever offered to bring one over. We ordered the pesto pasta and the lasagna. We originally tried to order the ravioli but they were out of those so not sure if you need to get there earlier if you want to try those. But when we arrived in Solvang, they had no record of it and the staff was incredibly rude about the situation. No apology, no attempt to accommodate us, and no basic courtesy. We were left completely stranded despite doing everything right on our end. We still ended up ordering pizza, and honestly it was nothing special. SY Farmer Girl was very average, nothing memorable, and definitely not worth the hassle or attitude we dealt with. Solvang has plenty of great options and this is not one of them. My husband, mother in law, and myself came here for dinner tonight- and WOW. We sat on the patio with a heater on this cool evening and it was perfect. There is a beautiful water feature, and they brought music out for us as well! (We were the only guests on the patio, such a cute touch). My MIL and I split the beet and buratta salad and the salmon pizza, and my husband also got a pizza- everything was so delicious! It rings of true authentic Italian food. What always makes the experience, as we all know, is the service, and we had the pleasure of being served by Erica. She is so kind, attentive, and has great menu knowledge. Really enjoyed the food and service here. We got the lasagna and ravioli and it was evident the pasta was made fresh from scratch for both. It could have been easy and lazy to just use the same tomato sauce for all dishes but these both had unique sauce with them, which gave them distinct flavors. Solvang is in the middle of a very specific wine country, and as much as I love Pinot, after tasting it intensely for 4 days straight I need a change. Toscana had a fairly good list of Italian wines to choose from, and quite reasonable prices as well, so an excellent bottle of Barolo completed the meal nicely. I had given ourselves plenty of time for a relaxed meal, as we were attending the theater nearby that night and didn't want to rush or be late for the play. The service was so prompt it left us with too much time when we were done! We thought about killing the time with some dessert, but by that point we were far too full for it, so perhaps next time, as we will definitely return. read more
