Other patrons were asked if they needed anything.. twice. Finally, I flagged down the waitress for a menu and was guided inside to order my food. I opted for the anniversary special: potatoes, corn, shrimp, and a sweet wine. The owner was a little taken aback when he received a notification about my low-star review. I expressed that it was me, and to help him understand better, I explained the reason why. What was very unprofessional was that he verbalized this to the table next to me, revealing exactly what had happened and who had rated his establishment with low stars. The chef from Louisiana knows what she is doing! I loved the shrimp creole. The patio is nothing special but we sat by the fireplace which definitely helped the ambiance. Unfortunately the music playing over the speakers was hard rock, which was so not the vibe of the place. Play some New Orleans music on Cajun nights! I came over the weekend and was lucky enough to snag some of the manchego stuffed dates with a few bottles of wine for our group. A perfect little aperitif before hunting down sausages and a hearty meal elsewhere in town. Their menu is vast, offering not only a wide variety of unique local small production wines, but they had a tempting beer list all from the Central Coast (my personal favorite.) My husband and I LOVED Clean Slate. We were there Friday evening for the wine flight and tapas. Each wine in the flight was great and they took the time to explain the background of each one. The food menu was on a chalkboard and is all based around fresh local ingredients. We shared a shrimp cocktail which was delicious and very different from any shrimp cocktail we have ever seen. My husband had a jambalaya flauta which he thought was great. I had the gazpacho which was easily the best I have ever had. The owners were super nice and we enjoyed our conversation with them.
