I'd actually give this place 4.5 stars. This place is kid-friendly and dog friendly!! There wasn't a guy giving out kids water and pieces of chocolate! It was really sweet and super thoughtful!!! We have been to Solvang so many times but have somehow missed trying this winery. Not anymore! We had such a wonderful time trying so many great wines that we will definitely be coming back to Casa Cassara in the future. Wine here is wonderful, and a lot of them have a lovely story attached to it with a family member's picture. We each did a tasting, and Erin was absolutely wonderful! For our tasting, we got to pick the wines we tried. However, I'm not the best with wines, so she talked to us and tailored the choices to our likes and dislikes. Lead to a great tasting! Even though it was a hot day out, it was nice and cool inside which made the tasting experience even more enjoyable. Plus they are dog friendly! This place was listed on Solvang's website as pet friendly, but no other description so we were a bit hesitant. Since our hotel wasn't ready for us yet, my SO grabbed a wine-tasting passport for us. All places on the passport were buy one get one free, so we decided to cross-reference places on the passport with places that were dog friendly. We were SO pleased by our first real interaction in Solvang. Our server was so nice to us AND the dogs. She explained the wines to us, was very patient and friendly, and even brought the pups treats. We were promptly seated and checked-in on yelp. Delighted to see that Yelp had a coupon for a get two for one wine tasting. The bartender greeted us and took the time to briefly explain the wine menu. She checked on us often and gave us a quick history of the family behind the wine. The married owners were present at the time talking to friends and customers. Decided to stop by Solvang on our road trip up to SF. After some lunch, we decided to walk around the streets and stumbled upon this place on Yelp. We are so glad we did! My wife and I were returning from a trip to Southern California and decided to swing through Solvang, CA. As we drove through the picturesque little town we noticed an abundance of wine tasting rooms. Not being people who pass up a good chance to sample some wine, we found a parking spot and headed for the nearest shop, Casa Cassara. My wife was intrigued by a shop which sold princess dresses our granddaughters would like. I was a bit more focused and stuck my nose into the tasting room. Well, that's not quite accurate. It seems I stuck my nose into a lively conversation amongst friends. People were laughing, chattering away, and generally having a great time. When they noticed me, I was urged to join them. I walked in, found a seat at the bar, and became part of the spirited conversation. It took only a few minutes for for the wine tender, Natalie, to greet me and explain I could sample six 1.5 ounce pours of their fantastic wines. About this time my wife caught up to me. She took a chair and, as I expected, chose to sample the impressive selection of whites. I chose the reds. As I worked my way through a very satisfying selection consisting of Syrah, Super Tuscan, Tempranillo, and one of the most intriguing Cabernets I've ever tasted, Natalie gave us the history of each of the wines we tasted. At some point, we started feeling like we were just having some wine at a friend's house. Unfortunately, all good things must end. We purchased a bottle of my wife's favorite white and decided it was time for dinner. As is our habit, we asked a local for recommendations. Natalie pointed us to a place for dinner and one for breakfast. We found both to be excellent, but that's material for two other reviews. We've already started planning a return trip to Solvang and Casa Cassara with a few other couples who appreciate good wine. Natalie, you are amazing and ensured our return to your charming little town and the warmth we found in Casa Cassara. Thank you! Casa Cassara is also dog friendly, as is most of Solvang. There's a reason this place has 5 stars. There's wine tasting all over Solvang but we came here because of the many good reviews. We walked in around 4:30pm on a Tuesday and there wasn't a huge amount of people here. Make sure you use the Yelp check in because you get to taste 5 wines per person for 20 dollars total! When normally it's 5 wines for 20 dollars per person. They have plenty of good wines to choose from. I prefer red wines so I mostly only tried those. The service was amazing.
