This was an impromptu stop on our mini road trip to Solvang. We saw this and stopped to enjoy a wine tasting, since we were too early to check into our hotel in Solvang. Kaena at the Ranch was a great choice. It has a lovely seating area outside with trees, comfy chairs, gorgeous gardens, firepits for cool evenings, and friendly kitty cats. Not to mention, the friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had one special red tasting and one special white wine tasting. They were delicious and had lots of variability. I enjoyed the 2022 Grenache Clone 362 the best. Come on in and join us!! Hurry, before we leave! Happy 64th birthday to my babe

What a lovely little winery, we had the White tasting flight, and I was very impressed with the variety and complexity of some of the wines. Staff was welcoming and lovely, and the two wine kitties kept us company for most of the time.

I really enjoyed spending time at this winery. Kaena is the owner's Hawaiian nickname (by his great-grandma), and you can see photos of his family inside the tasting room. It's located on a beautiful property between Solvang and Buellton. There are plenty of picnic tables outside and seating indoors as well. They are picnic friendly so you can enjoy your tasting/wines with your own food (I enjoyed my treats from the Solvang bakeries!). There are also snacks you can purchase in the tasting room, and charcuterie boards if they still have them available. I purchased the standard tasting flight ($25.25) which during my visit included the Grenache Rose, Hapa Blanc, Tierra Alta Grenache, Tierra Alta Reserve Grenache, and the Kuli'ou'ou Cuvée. They specialize in Grenache but I really enjoyed the Grenache Rose and Hapa Blanc. You are welcome to sit anywhere you want, inside or out, and the staff will come and explain the wine they are pouring. They take their time between pours, there is no rush, so we were able to just sit and enjoy our time at the Ranch. Island time bruh... The resident cat liked us so much, she brought us a gopher. One of the staff members came with a box to move the cat's gift to another location. Apparently they also have church at this location on Sundays!

This winery is all about the good vibes! We had a very friendly, cool and informative server. They play great beach music. We didn't all white flight tasting menu. I like that they offer an all white tasting menu. Most other places heavily focus on reds. This is a gorgeous horse property. It used to be Shoestring winery about 5 years ago.

A stop at Kaena for their two for one tasting deal for staying at a hotel in the area. We got there just as it opened and Bridget was the perfect host. She was knowledgeable about the wines and the history of the owner and his Hawaiian heritage. The wines were great and it was a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy them. My favorite was the Grenache reserve.

Stopped by for a spur of the moment wine tasting and it was a superb experience. We chose the white wines only flight for $25 and we enjoyed it so much. My favorite was the Grenache Rose which is saying a lot because I didn't even think that I liked Rose. We sat outside under the trees at a picnic table and it was absolutely perfect and so lovely. The ladies serving us were very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and the wine names, it was fun learning facts from them. I can't wait to go back and try more wines and I highly recommend this place.

We stopped at Kaena Winery just outside of Solvang after coming down from Paso Robles, planning to do a little shopping before heading back to San Diego. Honestly, I assumed it would be another touristy winery designed to catch people passing through Solvang. I couldn't have been more wrong. The premium red flight caught my eye, and from the very first pour it was clear this place is serious about wine. Every single wine was excellent. The Grenache completely surprised me--full-bodied with a long, smooth finish, and nothing like the lighter, fruit-forward Grenaches I'm used to. As the tasting progressed, the reds just kept getting bolder, smoother, and more impressive. Then came the standout: the 2021 Reserve Petit Verdot (100%). Petit Verdot is my favorite varietal, and I'll admit I was skeptical--how good could it really be out here? Turns out, it was the best Petit Verdot I've ever had. Aged three years in oak, it had an incredible nose, a rich full body, soft silky tannins, and a long, velvety finish. Absolute paradise in a glass. I had zero intention of joining another wine club, but one look at our faces and my wife immediately knew--it was inevitable. Kaena completely exceeded our expectations and turned a quick stop into a highlight of the trip. This is not a tourist trap; it's a must-visit for anyone who truly loves bold, well-crafted red wines. I first discovered Kaena wine last night while having dinner at Industrial Eats in Buellton. I tried the Grenache & Syrah & hubby had the Bordeaux to pair with our meals. Both of us loved the flavor profile so we stopped by their tasting room today. The location was situated on a beautiful ranch in Solvang. Since today was a Monday, the place was empty with only 2 other tables occupied. We walked right in & got seated right away out in the patio. Ambiance was very nice outside overlooking the ranch with plenty of tables & seats. They also had seatings inside as well. Our server Jin was bubbly & friendly the entire time. She was detailed in explaining about each wine & very patient between each pouring to wait until we were ready for the next pour. I had the standard flight & hubby had the premium flight. Both flights from beginning to end were superb! It's not common to find a tasting room that serves both whites & reds to be solid. Sometimes the whites can be too acidic & reds to be jammy or too fruit forward but this wasn't the case at all. My favorite's were the rose & Ronin although every one of them was thumbs up. I highly recommend this place for both beginners & wine connoisseurs alike. You won't be disappointed.

Cannot recommend this winery enough if you are in the area! This is the cutest little hawaiian winery. My friend and I were obsessed with the decoration here - fairly lights all over the trees, a ton of picnic tables, and just overall picturesque. The owner was so sweet and hilarious and even came to check on us outside. The wine was delicious and strong!

This winery was one of the stops during our Wine Bus Tour. A Hawaiian winery that is family owned. The property it sits on is quite large. Tasted several of their wines and they were really good. Everyone that worked there was really nice. Listening as they shared the history of Kaena reflected the pride they have in bringing that culture to the mainland. They have merchandise for sale if you would like a souvenir ( wine glasses, bottle aerators, t-shirts, hats, candles and so much more.

Wine tasting! Yes please! We first arrived and we were greeted by one of the ranch cats and later learned her name is Chickquetta. Ka 'Ena is a delicious little place that has this absolute beauty and peace to it. Warm and welcoming just like its sommelier Andrea. We didn't feel rushed and felt welcome to sit, sip, and enjoy not only the wine but the absolute splendor of trees and the expanse of the property. Check out Kaena, they offer wine tasting, and a wine club (as of this posting) if you are interested. Pepe (the orange tabby) and Chiquetta wonder around and chill out. They won't demand attention but won't shy away from a gentle hello and scratch. Andrea will make you feel welcome and give you the best rundown on the wines that Kaena offers. I hope you will check them out.

This place is a must try, the views and ambiance is unmatched. Everything that was recommended was great. The service and cheese boards pair great with wine.

I am a huge horror fan so I was beyond excited to check them out over the weekend! The inside and vibe was all I could hope for and more! We were immediately greeted when we arrived and found a table to sit at and enjoy our time. There were only a few tables plus bar seating available so it was nice and cozy. I loved seeing all of the horror memorabilia, decor and merchandise throughout including the killer Ghostface mask and Halloween pinball machine. My husband ordered a glass of their Cab which he loved and I ordered a Vamperol Spritz - they were even kind enough to make our daughter a mocktail. They even brought her over a Nightmare Before Christmas activity kit to keep busy and we bought a Michael Myers sticker as well as a Nightmare Before Christmas hair clip to take home. I'm kicking myself now for not buying a t-shirt! Kids are very welcome at this winery which was a huge plus for us! Staff were personable and made our visit very enjoyable! Final Girl Wines also offers tasting flights and non-alcoholic options as well! They do not offer food, but there are so many great places in Solvang to check out. If you're a horror fan or just enjoy good wine, you have to check out Final Girl Wines while in Solvang! I can't wait to come back and give them another visit one day!

I know Napa Valley is like THE Mecca of Wineries, at least in California, & going there once before, I kinda understand, kinda. But is it really that much better? In my humble opinion.. Ehh. It was whatever Sure, I'm down dropping a nice crispy Benjamin to get that aged, vintage 2013 Cab.. But will I really care, or even notice once that bottle is depleted & I'm now ordering the 2nd least expensive Chenin Blanc on the menu just to wash away all my worries. (Suddenly, Every wine snob, wine aficionado & novice sommelier enters the chat) But, But Lance, it's Napa, How dare you speak against this Holy Land of all Superior Wine. And to that I say, I get it. I truly understand that not all wine is created equally, but also that not all of us have the BIG BUCKS to continuously drop $100 big ones on that prized Napa Cab. Hey, call me crazy, but to me, it's not just ALL about the wine that is produced, but more about the overall experience. It's the vibe. It's the way you are treated. & it's definitely about how they made you feel. Anyone else getting Maya Angelou vibes?? IYKYK ;) **All Wine Snobs have left the Chat** *Vega Vineyard and Farm has entered the chat* Alright team Vega, sit back, kick your feet up, & just listen while I brag a little about you. It was a BEAUTIFUL November afternoon just 4 days prior to Thanksgiving. We were heading back south from Paso Robles & decided to make a little pit stop before getting all the way back home. So my wife looked up wineries in the area that were kid friendly & Vega was at the top of the list. Walking in, we noticed that they had a little restaurant right at the entrance, so we went to put our name down for a table. Unfortunately, the wait time was a little longer than we wanted to wait, only because we had the kids with us, but the hostess suggested if we didn't want to wait, that they had more food on the other end of the farm in "Pops Place". Other than the wine itself, eating the food in "Pops Place" was probably the best move we could have unintentionally made that day. (I'll explain in a bit) So we slowly made our way towards the other side of the farm/vineyard & all I can say is, what a gorgeous property it was. The farm life, the outdoors, the weather, & I was with my Fam. It couldn't have been a better day! Once we got to Pops Place, it was like we entered into a whole new world. A huge area for kids with a jungle gym, stations for outdoor games & activities, benches to sit, even private cabanas you can reserve (not sure if there is a cost) & of course a little shack to order food and wine! So remember earlier when I said eating in Pops Place was probably the best move we could have made that day, Well here are 3 reasons why! 1) We ordered the George's Greek Gyro Pita w/fries (a beef gyro with lettuce, tomato, onions & tzatziki wrapped in a pita) and.. OH. MY. GAWDDD It was so flippin' GOOD! It was so good, that I didn't even have time to snap a pic, let alone set it down after taking that 1st bite. It was complete perfection! 2) Chicken Strips & Fries from the kids menu w/a side of ranch.. Let's just say, The kids loved 'em. 3) We washed it all down w/a beautiful, crisp, perfect for a fall day, 2024 bottle of their finest ALBARIÑO. & it was, EXCELLENT!! After we sat & ate, let the kids get out all of their energy, the fun at Vega continued. From there, we headed to feed the livestock on the property (lettuce sold onsite for a few bucks). There were Chickens, Goats, Pigs, Emu's & Sheep, and the kids and myself had a blast feeding 'em. After that, we stopped off at one of their gift shops to browse all of the fun stuff. Of course, we got the kids their requested candy! The staff we interacted with while at Vega were all so kind, welcoming & made us feel apart of the extended Vega family. Because of this, we will definitely be coming back next time we pass through. So, & this is where YOU come in! The next time you are passing through Buellton, do yourself, your spouse and your kids, if you've got them, a HUGE favor: Come check out Vega Vineyard & Farm and tell me that I was right!
