This review is long overdue. We've been members here for about 4 years now and can honestly say it's one of our favorite places to visit. We try to make it up every 6 weeks because we love it that much. Huge shoutout to Dana, who has been taking care of us basically the entire time we've been members. We've even done a few private library tastings with her over the years and she always makes the experience feel personal and special. The wines are some of the best values in Santa Barbara County when you factor in the quality. Definitely on par with a lot of the higher end Sta. Rita Hills producers, which makes it even more impressive. It can definitely get crowded, so I always recommend making a reservation ahead of time, but the vibe is always amazing once you're there. This is one of those rare wineries that just keeps getting better the longer you're a member. We'll probably be members for decades to come. read more

A pretty winery, but we have no idea how good their wines are. They are open until 5 pm, and we arrived at 3:55 pm, so we thought that we would have plenty of time for a tasting, but we were told that they stopped doing tastings at 3:30. I said that we'd be fast. They weren't crowded, and they didn't seem particularly busy, but the hostess said that their servers were already too busy, so they couldn't accommodate us. One of our group was visiting from Japan. So, I wasn't quite ready to give up on a tasting and thought to suggest that we sit at the bar to make it easier on their servers. But the hostess was giving me a "you came late, so you're out of luck vibe", so I ordered us the holiday cocktail instead. Even that exchange was awkward. At first, I was told that it was no longer available, but it turned out it was. It wasn't the wine tasting experience we came for, but the holiday cocktail was tasty. Unfortunately, because of the hostess's unwelcoming vibe the overall experience was negative. It would have been nice if the hostess had worked with us so that we were able to have a tasting, but if she was truly unable to do that, a friendlier tone or a single well-placed "sorry" would have changed the whole experience. read more

My wife and I stopped in early on a Monday and, as we expected, were the first ones there and got a reservation on the spot. We were planning on visiting three places that day, but the pours at Fess Parker had us rethinking our plans. We had a fantastic host who was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. She kept a hawk's eye view on our glasses, and always appeared with a new pour she was so excited to introduce. The wines were very good. Much better than I recalled from many years prior. The vibe is also more upscale and refined, rather than the old stand-at-the-counter speed taste. We ended up buying three bottles, and joined the wine club. I look forward to returning for a complimentary tasting next time, and to opening my first bottle of their Rodney's viognier that arrived in my first shipment yesterday. I visited Fess Parker Winery in Los Olivos yesterday with a couple of girlfriends, and we had an amazing time! We didn't know there had been a fire until we arrived, but the staff was very welcoming and informed us about it. They offered us the option to sit inside due to the fire and ash, but we chose to sit outside because the scenery is so beautiful. Thomas was our host, and he made the entire experience delightful. Since we preferred to skip red wine, he was very accommodating with our options. Thomas was incredibly attentive and friendly, even providing us with some complimentary wine tastings, which was a wonderful bonus. He described the wines in a very engaging and informative way. This visit has made Fess Parker Winery my new favorite. I can't wait to come back! I regret not buying a bottle of wine, but that just gives me another reason to return very soon. read more

We had such a lovely day at Fess Parker. We went on a Friday and were able to be seated without a reservation but with all of the space I'm sure they're packed on weekends, so I'd make a reservation next time! We were seated in the side patio with a beautiful view of the rose garden. They have a huge grassy area which looks perfect for picnics. The tasting menu is $25 for 4 wines and the pours were generous and delicious. We loved everything, especially the Riesling and Pinot. We had a wonderful visit on a Thursday morning in September of 2025. The staff was friendly and courteous. We tried four different wines and each one was good! Fess Parker is most definitely the posh of SB County wineries. From the beautiful estate, to the newly renovated tasting room both inside and out, they surely make a name for themselves. I recently became a member due to the flexibility of being able to visit the estate, but also the Funk Zone in SB since I am an LA native. Also from my tastings a couple years back, I enjoyed a lot of their wines. I went up for my first tasting as a member a couple weeks back and really enjoyed the ambiance, as well as the extremely friendly service. I wish I could have gotten her name, but she was such a warm personality even in the midst of a busy Saturday afternoon. The wines were good, but not as great as a couple years back. I also wish that as a member buying their win s, I could have more flexibility in what I would like to taste, but maybe that will be the case as time goes on. Suddenly Not Dog Friendly -- A Loyal Customer Lost We've been loyal Fess Parker customers for years, making regular trips up from LA and always bringing our pups. For the past four years, this has never been a problem. No signs, no warnings, no complaints--just great wine, good vibes, and a dog-friendly experience that kept us coming back. But on Saturday, June 21, all of that changed without warning. We were abruptly told that dogs are no longer allowed in the main tasting area and were asked to sit across the vineyard--completely removed from the experience we came for. No prior notice, no posted policy, and no explanation beyond "new rules." This wasn't just disappointing--it was frustrating and honestly felt like a slap in the face to returning customers. If there had been any communication in advance or even a respectful way to explain the change, it might've been easier to accept. But the way it was handled? Cold and dismissive. Fess Parker Winery was our go-to winery in Los Olivos. Sadly, it no longer is. You've lost a loyal customer over a poorly handled policy shift. There are plenty of other beautiful, dog-welcoming wineries in the area that still understand hospitality. read more

It's been sometime since I was last here. Before the renovations so to see it all done up was quite nice. Beautiful private tasting rooms and the new patio seating area. The property itself is massive. Plenty of grass space for picnics as well as seating all along the front and the two covered patio. We were seated in the back patio area near the rose garden. There's a massive fireplace that divide the two patio. Very modern decor which is beautiful. They had sofa seating as well as chair seating. Depending on the group size. Our pouring Veronica was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable with her wine. As it's been a while since I was last here, trying the wine all over again was nice. Service was great, friendly staff. It does get quite busy so reservations is highly recommended. Not sure if they take walk ins or not. But as a couple of us were members, we will definitely be making more pit stops here again. read more

If I could give 100 stars, I would! My husband and I visited today and had the most incredible experience. We brought our own food and enjoyed it on their stunning outdoor grounds-- don't be fooled, their main building is just as breathtaking. The service was exceptional--warm, friendly, and welcoming. We enjoyed a bottle of wine during our visit and loved it so much that we took another back to our hotel (we chose not to do the tasting because we love their Viognier 2023). I could go on and on about how perfect everything was! We are already planning to celebrate our 10-year anniversary here, and we can't wait to return. Highly recommend! read more

Fess Parker was once known for being family and dog friendly, a "welcome all" approach. Now they have taken that out of the "experience", there is no need to visit them. We had to leave to go to the airport and I seriously considered changing my flight so I could hang with them all day. Lovely grounds and Thomas, our wine concierge, was very knowledgeable and helpful. A flight of whites was $25, but reds were $35. I'm not a wine drinker, so I was there to chat with my friend and listen to the stories of the wine history and history of FP wineries while keeping her company during her tasting flight. We enjoyed the beautiful space and modern touches of this winery, especially the "Star Trek" doors on the way to the restrooms. Yes, they were just magic eye sensors on sliding single barn doors made of frosted glass, but they were cool! We stopped by here on our wine day in the Santa Ynez Valley. We got both the classic tasting ($25) and the single vineyard list ($35). The single vineyard list was all reds while the classic had a Chardonnay in it so we ended up liking the classic tasting better. Although the wine was good and the service was quick, we just didn't feel at ease here. It felt a bit cold and unwelcoming when we walked in. Went to Fess Parker today. Had a reservation and arrived on time. We were seated promptly but it went downhill from there. The location is beautiful. Our attendant was nice but service was sooooo slow - and it was not busy in the area we were seated in. Then some red headed chick walks up, doesn't introduce herself and tells us we need to give her the back cushions from our couch. We were like "what are you talking about?" She said "my guests need your cushions." Eventually, with no help from her, we realized she actually worked there and was pouring wine for another group. Apparently, someone before we sat down had moved cushions around and doubled up some on our couch, so there were none on her group's couches. When we finally realized what she was talking about we were like OK sure no problem here you go. She acted like we committed a crime and "stole" her cushions when all we did was sit down for a tasting. How about asking us and explaining the situation vs assuming we were some kind of cushion hoarders messing with her plan. Add to that the wines were just ok - I'd say spend your time and money somewhere else. read more

My son has left me and moved to Santa Barbara... yes I'm heartbroken for myself, but so happy for him I figured I would make the best of this transition and join at least one wine club, which would give me yet another excuse to visit Santa Barbara every so often. I pick Fess Parker. For a few reasons. One reason is that it was close to our hotel which we will probably continue to stay at another reason is that they have two other locations about an hour away where I will also get complementary tastings. The third reason is that it was one of the few wineries of actually heard of in Santa Barbara. On the first trip, we visited all three locations. This location was my favorite of the three. We go to Fess a lot and we had the best service with Cody. We just warned our first time guests that the wine is good but the service isn't as warm and hospitable as vincent winery but Cody surprised us and was so warm and welcoming. Had a lot of added information and friendly. We will always ask for him going forward because he made our experience much more enjoyable. This winery used to be a great low key winery to go to. We took our friends here, remembering the experience we had from past visits. We arrived at 4p and they told us we couldn't taste because they were closing in an hour. We had to purchase a bottle of wine, which we were OK with. We were only allowed to sit in a designated area of the property. Once we sat where we were told to sit, all of the closing procedures were being commenced. Cushions from the furniture were being picked up and it was apparent that they wanted us to hurry up. Someone in our party slwas smoking far from the patio, and one of the employees said from a distance, that 1,we were not allowed to smoke on the property and 2, they were closing in 15 mins. When WWE approached then and asked to speak with a manager to discuss the unpleasant experience, they said the manager left an hour ago. It's truly a shame to end our evening at a place that we once enjoyed, to an uncomfortable, negative experience. As a supporter of small businesses, I hope this review encourages the business to work on the client experience. Unfortunately, we will not be coming to this winery again. read more

The grounds at Fess Parker are enormous and fantastic if you have kids! You could literally bring lawn games and throw around a football on the giant fields! The wine is high quality and completely worthy of an afternoon here. While I tend to enjoy the wine at nearby Zaca Mesa and Andrew Murray a teeny sliver more... the grounds here just make for such a wonderful day that it's worth putting on your list. We've always enjoyed visiting Fess Parker for the beautiful setting and great wine, but unfortunately, the atmosphere has really gone downhill. We came for a relaxing Mother's Day picnic, hoping to enjoy some wine in a peaceful environment. Instead, it felt more like a public park than a winery. Kids were running wild and had even set up a makeshift baseball field--hitting baseballs into nearby groups who were trying to enjoy their food and drinks. To make matters worse, people were bringing in outside beverages like Coors Light, and there was no staff or management present to oversee or enforce any kind of decorum. Fess Parker used to feel like a special experience. Sadly, it's become chaotic and unmanaged. We hope they address these issues soon, as the current environment doesn't reflect the quality or reputation we've come to expect. read more

Service was very professional from start to finish with options to buy bottles or taste at your leisure.
