Walked in because of a Groupon and was not at all disappointed! Met Luke the owner and he's a super rad guy who will chat about anything with you while you enjoy the wine he makes. I really recommend the Grateful Red and Guns N Rosé but all the wine's on the tasting menu were great. Super chill ambiance which is great if you're looking for a lovely wine tasting experience with out the snobbery that certain other wineries might make you feel. Saw the sign hot wine and immediately had to try it. The place is cute inside with nice artifacts. They have wine tasting also, but all I wanted was the hot wine. Visited on a Sunday and arrived as it was opening. Luke was such a easy going, chill dude. The place was spacious, open, and inviting. We used the Groupon option, which is a great deal allowing us to take a bottle home. I'm glad that we were able to check out JALOPY. This is a fun, laidback place for wine tasting! The owner was very friendly and told us all about the history of the business while we were enjoying our tasting. We were given generous pours so we felt pretty good at the end of the experience. Dr Sundquist Dry Reisling- It's a nice summery dry wine with a crisp finish. I enjoyed the floral and apple undertones and it was a nice introduction to the tasting! Guns and Rosé- The bottle was very attractive and we tried a dark and lighter version of this wine. I enjoyed the watermelon undertones and it had a refreshing finish. Grateful Red- This one was my favorite. It had a smoky and peppery finish and a deep flavor that entices your palate. I got cherry undertones which was delicious. Perfect with red meat or dark chocolate. Syrah Blend- This also has a deep flavor but a bit more acidic than the Grateful Red. It has plum and cherry undertones. We ended up buying some bottles to take home. Great experience overall! read more

My husband and I came in for a tasting and were served 5-6 different kinds. We have done a handful of tasting and this by far was our best experience! Every wine we sampled was so flavorful and so smooth. I could not believe how much we enjoyed every single one. I regret not remembering or catching the name of the gentleman that helped us but he was so kind and friendly as well. He told us all about his childhood experience with picking grapes and his history working with wineries and the food industry. He provided great conversation while we enjoyed the different wines. The bar area was so open and chill as well and decorated very cute. Definitely will be back and Jalopy is our new favorite winery. Can't wait to try Cali Love next! read more

I loved this place. In my opinion it is a hidden gem in a area with lots of wine tasting rooms, but the quality of the wine and personal attention from the owner, Luke make this place so special. He was absolutely charming and friendly. It was fun listening to him talk about his journey in CA and he is a humble and down to earth person. If you are looking for excellent wine, I would definitely recommend Jalopy. We saw this at the end of the row of shops as we were walking. I was not overly thrilled with either the tasting fees or the wine quality from some of the other places we tried that day. Jalopy was a funny name and when we walked up a guy walked out and said hello and got us set up. On the first taste of the Rose, I was thrilled even though Rose doesn't always save the day for me, this one did. The guy who was funny and friendly turned out to be Luke the owner of the place and all of the wines we had that day were great and Luke was super chill and knowledgeable. We had a fun time and came away with the Rose that did actually save that day. I'm not an oenophile but I like the town of Los Olivos and drinking wine there. I find it to be a low barrier to entry with wines. Despite the Sideways hype I've never gotten the a pretentious/snooty reception from any of the tasting rooms. My last visit was no different but I was looking for another tasting room, I'd been to a few, a few I hadn't tried were busy so I looked for others. Jalopy is tucked away in a...I don't want to say strip mall but it kind of is. The main drag are all refurbished houses and Jalopy has a small gravel lot that's shared between two of these buildings. What I'm getting at here is that it's even more laid back than some other places you can get a tasting at. There are two tables but with our group there was basically one-we took all but one chair. We didn't feel rushed through it at all and my dog even played with their dog as well. Now, I'm not into wine but I liked most of theirs-but even my non-wine palate was a firm 'no' on one and a 'eh' on another. Overall, I'm glad I went and it's a slightly different experience from the rest of Los Olivos. read more

If you're looking for a fancy wine tasting experience, this is not the place. There is only enough seating for two parties (that I've seen) and it's all on mismatched outdoor furniture. I think this makes for a unique tasting experience and one that is unpretentious and refreshing. The wine itself varies and there's something for everyone. I've been twice now and for some reason both experiences were quite different in terms of the wine enjoyment. The first time I went I remember enjoying everything whereas this last time the wine seemed too sweet and some odd flavor profiles. But our friends we took enjoyed it and that's all that matters Tip: there's a great Groupon deal at the moment of this review which is $40 for four tastings and a bottle of wine. What a deal! There is usually only one person working, so it may take a while to get served outside, although the misters were refreshing. But we knew that going in and we were not in a rush. Chill vibe for a chill day. Wine was really good. Music was good. Bummed we missed the wading pool. Have heard a lot of good things about it. Next time! I can not speak to the other reviewers about their negative experience. Unfortunately there are too many experiences in this world like the one they described. First of all, Luke is the best. He was super friendly and explained all the wines. And these wines, were truly delicious. Taste different than any other wine I've had, in the best way possible. We tasted four wines for $15 and we ended up buying a bottle of the Riesling. It wasn't sweet like most, and it'll be perfect for a dinner party and story. Wow I... we arrived and the owner was nice in the beginning, when he said we had to wit because there was not enough seating, we said no problem. Waited for 30 minutes and no customer service. So we decided to go to a winery around the corner. The unfortunate thing is that they share the same restrooms. When he saw us using the restroom and not his business, he got upset and called us names... very unprofessional. We just wanted to have a good time, but obviously not at this place. What a s horrible place, we waited to be seated but never were, so when we went to another winery where this place shared the same restroom with Brighton, for some reason they were upset and started yelling at us! This place is wonderful and Luke is fantastic! Despite covid, a power outage and high temps, Luke made a welcome and fun tasting happen on the patio/porch.
