Katy was warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. She took the time to walk us through each wine, explaining the story behind them in a way that felt personal and engaging! She created such a fun, relaxed atmosphere for our group. We laughed, learned, and left with a much deeper appreciation for the wines (and a few bottles to take home!). It's clear she genuinely loves what she does, and that energy made all the difference. If you're visiting McClain Cellars, ask for Katy--you won't be disappointed. I've never done a wine tour before, so while visiting Solvang we booked a tour through Airbnb for their location in Buellton! It was supposed to be with Jason, but instead we were blessed with Elizabeth! She was really insightful about the wine flights she was presenting to us and took it slow since it was our first time having quality wine. She even gave us a complimentary taste of her favorite wine, (Sofias Star) which we ended up purchasing along with the Painted Dreams bottle. Only knocking off one star because it was advertised on Airbnb that we'd be able to make our own charcuterie board but we were never presented with the option. Hidden Gem!!!! How is this place not slammed on a Saturday afternoon?!!! We hit it just right. Had the whole place to ourselves. Brooke was amazing! I'd love to sit and drink and just hang with her. I don't think she'd say the same of me tho. Hahahaha! We also had a personal serenade from the live performer. Created a great ambiance...wine, music, sunshine, sitting under an umbrella with a light breeze. Lots of wine to choose from. 5 different tasting flights depending on your palate and wallet. I was feeling White. Hubby was feeling like a high roller so he did the Reserve. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. We have been to both locations which were very cozy even during COVID. My favorite location is Buellton. We were sold to become a member here, we wanted to enjoy more of their wines. I had a stellar experience with my girlfriend. We both opted for tasting flights. I had the Laguna Wine Flight and she had the Reserve Wine Flight. The staff there were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable not only on wine but on other alcohol. Dude. This place is so fun. Pinball, foosball, tabletop arcade, pool, corn hole, darts, and probably more. The wine is fantastic. You won't find much better wines anywhere. I love me a good place where the adults can drink and the kids can have too. Nice vibe with comfy seating. Not the arcade our kids wanted, but enough to keep them entertained. We enjoyed our tasting and the gourmet popcorn too. It's not a great place for the little youngsters, but our teens were entertained enough to let us enjoy our tasting. WOW! The best and fastest wine tasting ever!!! I was on a wine bus trip (7/30/22) from Long Beach, CA, tasting a few door down, and had 7 minutes before the bus was leaving. I tasted Risktaker and another red (can't remember). Your staff was amazing and fun! Love your tasting room! Amazing artwork! I bought wine, a t-shirt, a glass, and popcorn! Should have bought two bottles of Risktaker; my eyes almost rolled back because it was so good! I am a huge Mourvedre' fan. Keep up the great work! While visiting friends in Buellton we stopped in to have a glass of wine and check out this new Winery I heard of on FB. I not only had a great glass of wine, but a fun time at McClain. The Three Daughters blend was so good I bought a bottle. My friend and I sat at the bar chatting with the delightful staff. I felt like I found a hidden gem outside of the mainstream wineries. Went to McLane today. Beautiful day. Very nice venue. Very nice service, some nice wines as well. None that were exceptional to go with the price tags on their wines. I have never seen a wine club where the members were charged a tasting fee for visits. Is this a new thing? Not for the 5 we belong to. Would not join just for that reason. Dont mind paying a tasting fee but I always want my fee waived when I purchase especially over $100 in wine. I think they have a great place just need to cater to their customer a little more. read more

We had heard great things about this place so since we were in the area, we gave it a try. The flight that we ordered had some delicious wines and Con did a fantastic job describing each wine for us. He was very friendly and knowledgeable! During our visit, some large groups came in and Con handled everyone with ease. Our small group of 3 never felt slighted or ignored.
