I've stayed at Sideways Inn many times over the years and have often used it as the home base for golf and wine weekends with friends. Until this visit, I've always had a positive impression. Last night, our group purchased drinks from the Sideways Lounge and sat in the outdoor fireplace area. One member of our group was smoking when an employee approached us and rudely told us smoking wasn't allowed there. That wasn't the issue--we would have gladly complied if the policy had simply been explained respectfully. Instead, we were interrupted multiple times while trying to ask why there were no signs indicating the rule. The employee repeatedly responded, "Well, I'm telling you now." He then told us to go outside the fenced lounge area--even into the parking lot--to smoke, despite posted signs stating that alcohol cannot leave the lounge area. The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and inconsistent. Businesses absolutely have the right to enforce their policies. Customers should also expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, this one interaction overshadowed an otherwise enjoyable trip. After years of staying here and recommending the property to others, I no longer plan to return or recommend Sideways Inn for future golf and wine weekends. I sincerely hope management addresses the customer service issues that led to this experience. read more

What a cute hotel! They have coffee, tea, and donuts in the lobby every morning for guests to enjoy. I loved their fire pits, hot tub, and patio off of my room. We enjoyed the lounge every night as well. I highly recommend staying here for the most relaxing vacation! Every staff member we encountered was absolutely wonderful and helpful. read more

This place was one of our favorite spots for cocktails and food in Buellton! We stayed next door at the Flying Flags RV park, and the Sideways Lounge is a short walk to get there, part of the Sideways Inn. The drinks were on point (they made me a proper Negroni that was perfect)! The Belgian fries and dogs were super tasty and indulgent. The outdoor space was really comfortable, and the fire kept us cozy on the chilly night we were there. The whole lounge is very modern, clean, and well-maintained with plenty of seating space indoors and outside. Mike, the bartender/server, was super friendly and helpful, and he provided us some great tips for exploring wineries around Los Olivos. I will definitely return here next time I'm staying in Buellton! read more

I was staying in their motel and decided to try out this place as well. As part of my booking through hotels.com, I received $12 off/credit. I had the garlic Parmesan wings which were done perfectly and just how I like them. I also had 2 blue berry lemon drops. 1st one was perfect. 2nd one certainly was stronger and both I enjoyed. It is a place that also appears to be frequented by locals. I know the hours say they don't open until 5pm on Sundays but they do open at 10am for the NFL games. Highly recommend if in the area. read more

NIce, contemporary lounge adjacent to the Sideways Inn made famous by the movie filmed there. Friendly staff with lots of comfy chairs and funky decor makes for a great atmosphere to enjoy a glass of wine or an artisan cocktail. Its not cheap - but no place around this area is. There is a food truck permanently parked outside that serves up sausage sandwiches. That was kinda...meh... but ok. Go for the drinks. read more

Very cool place but the service is slow. You order the food at the bar and several men in an Airstream trailer parked next to the lounge cooks the food. The guys at the trailer work their rears off but the bartenders inside tend to be slow. Without a doubt, the garlic fries are the best you will ever have. They are crunchy and flavorful. Normally, garlic fries you get at the ballpark or at a restaurant are soggy. These are cooked, made to order, and the taste difference is unbelievable. Cajun fries are the same way but, darn, they are hot. Good job. Great sausage sandwich loaded with goodies. We enjoyed sitting on the patio with the heaters and fireplace. We come here each time we stay at Flying Flags next door. On our first night, there were just two of us. We enjoyed some low-key food and cocktails (the Dog Father sausage was the standout). On our second night, we brought some friends with us, so there were four of us total. We also got a bit of food (the parmesan wings were FAB!) and several drinks. On night three, we had a group of ten and just enjoyed cocktails and watching some sports on their TVs. On all three nights though, we had the pleasure of being tended to by Mario. Mario was polite, friendly and expeditious in getting us our food and drinks, and was consistently friendly on all three nights. We look forward to seeing him on our next visit. It's a nice lounge/bar within the Sideways Inn premises. Has a self serving mode, smaller variety of appetisers that are ordered from the food van parked outside in the Sideways premises. We ordered the dark beer, a Mexican lager, Belgian Fries, Mozzarella Sticks. The place is a little pricey considering it's self service and yet there is a gratuity also to be paid. Ok experience. We went to this place as most of the eateries and pubs start closing by 8.00 pm and we were staying for 2 nights at Sideways Inn. read more

Nobody should be treated the way we were on Monday, December 22, 2025. We were excited to arrive at the SideWays Lounge in Buellton. We had been driving for over 3 1/2 hours, and had the opportunity to sit inside with our dogs. We had no issues from any staff member regarding our seat selection. I placed our orders with the bartender, Ethan. Our food arrived and we began to enjoy our meal when a woman approached our table, and introduced herself as the Manager, Lauren. She advised us that we needed to leave the premises or finish our meals outside on the patio. In shock and appalled by Lauren's unprofessional approach, we asked what was the reason she was demanding we leave or move outside. Lauren shouted, "Jesus Christ! You need to leave. Your dogs were fighting with the other dog!" I requested for the manager to lower her tone and requested she not use my God's name in vain. Lauren firmly stated, "I don't believe in Jesus, you need to leave now. Your dogs were fighting" and she walked away from our table. I was aware one of my dogs did let out a bark but my dogs never engaged with any other dog, nor were they aggressive. My dogs had been stationary on their leash, under the table. I was clueless to what Lauren was talking about. Within minutes, the bartender Ethan approached our table and aggressively stated, "You need to leave now." We asked Ethan why, yet he walked away and gave no answers. As we began to pick up our items, the bartender Ethan approached us for a second time, and in an aggressive tone stated, "You need to leave now!" I replied, "You see us in the process of relocating per the request of Lauren and now your demands." We carried our meals and drinks to the outside tables in the attempt to avoid any additional issues. We drove over 3 hours and at this point, we just wanted to eat. As we exited the restaurant, in route to the patio, the manager Lauren followed behind us. This was now her 2nd aggressive approached. As we placed our items on the table, she walked up to our table and told us we need to take our food to go, and began removing our drinks from our table while advising us she would be placing our drinks in a plastic cup. We advised Lauren we paid for our food, we requested for her to call her Supervisor which she claimed to be the only supervisor on duty. We also informed Lauren that her original instruction gave us an opportunity to sit outside. We also advised Lauren that it was against the law to leave with a plastic cup of alcohol. Lauren shouted, "Jesus Christ leave the premises!" Lauren violently grabbed our drinks from the rim of the glasses which her fingers were now inside our glasses. At this point, I firmly stated, "Don't touch our drinks!" The alleged Manager failed to follow my request and walked away with our drinks, shortly returning with our drinks in a plastic cup, and plastic lid. It was obvious Lauren's goal was to antagonize us, in a hostile manner. At this time, I noticed a female staff member who was within ear shot and close enough to witness our encounter with Lauren on the patio. After calling for the staff member to come over to our table, she informed us that Lauren was a customer, not a manager. It was apparent Lauren was no stranger to the Sideways Lounge staff. The female staff member who was within a few feet, introduced to herself as the actual manager. I asked the Manager (I can't remember her name) why she would allow a customer who apparently was not in her right mind, to treat customers in an abusive manner. I also asked if Lauren was the bartender's girlfriend since he enforced her directive as if she was his supervisor. After requesting a complete refund, the actual manager granted me a refund, and apologized. She even complemented how good my dogs were and stated, "I don't know why she would say that." At this point I felt bad for this manager. It was apparent she was being bullied and didn't feel comfortable giving direction to her staff, and directing a hostile customer to leave. I would like to request any management to please review their cameras, and to please hold this woman accountable. Lauren should not be allowed to feel comfortable enough in this beautiful establishment, and harass customers. Ethan the bartender should also be held accountable for his conduct, lack of professionalism. This bar is a classic to many of us who give homage to the movie "Sideways." I have photos of Lauren that I can provide the establishment upon request. I am thinking this may not be needed considering the actual manager on duty was well aware who Lauren was. Future customers be aware, you may be placed in a situation where self control is a must. Lauren is a young white woman, she had eye glasses on, reddish brown straight hair with length past her shoulders, with a script tattoo on her right outer palm of her hand. Great lounge/bar! Nice selection of beers on draft, as well a wine list, and full bar. Loved the vibe here and bar tender was attentive and friendly. We were staying at the Flying Flags RV park which right next door. We walked there from our campsite in about 90 seconds. We will definitely be back next time we're camping!! read more

I've only been to the Sideways Lounge a handful of times, but it's always a treat! So spacious and options for indoor or outdoor seating. Recently I was able to join some friends outside by the fire and it was wonderful! Great setting. They do have a good menu and some in my party loved their french fries. This place is super easy to find right by the 101 on ramp. They have tons of parking. You may have to flag a bartender down for a drink, as they can get busy and the bar tends to be crowded, but their drinks are delicious! read more

I'm camping next door at flying flags which is an awesome place. Came over to the lounge which is next door and the sister property. We were greeted by Gabby and ordered the Bloody Mary. It tasted great and was topped with green olives and a bite of bacon. We were the first ones in and got a chance to chat with Gabby. What a Wonderful representative of her company! Sideways Lounge is a pretty cool spot. Came here this past Saturday night (2/15/20) after watching the NBA All Star events at Firestone. The bar was pretty lively with a decent amount of people. The bartenders were easily accessible and the drink menu was fairly comprehensive. We enjoyed a couple drinks here prior to calling it a night. We all enjoyed the ambiance and decor. We started at the bar and ended up at a spacious table towards the entrance. Service was quick and efficient, and the prices weren't bad. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come here, but if staying in Buellton, this place is definitely worth checking out. We had a good time. read more

I was really excited to show my wife this nice place and unfortunately the bartender was unbelievably RUDE... we walked into the lounge with our 6 month old, hoping to get some wings and a beer, and the bartender says to us that no one under 21 can be inside the bar. We looked and said, "even our baby?" and he goes, "there's a baby in there?" Awkwardly, he gave us a scolding glare as if we ourselves weren't even old enough to be inside the lounge. Taken back by the mistreatment, we left. Next time, instead of assuming our age, ask for an ID, or if you really have a problem with having children inside, put a sign up. Will stick to Firestone brewery and the other local watering holes in town!!! Food is also subpar for a hotel!
