Pizza Calabrese
Thuy L.

Cute italian restaurant in Santa Ynez. Had a calabrese pizza and it had a kick to it. Crust was delicious! My Penne Funghi Salsiccia which was penne with mushrooms, sausage, pink sauce and truffle oil was good! My son who was with us only wanted white sauce and pasta. I don't even think they had something like that on the menu, but they were able to make him a penne with alfredo sauce which he stated was the best alfredo pasta he ever had. Very great service and recommend if you're in the area!

Trattoria Grappolo is a hidden treasure in Santa Ynez, established in 1997 located just beyond Solvang - and if you continue your drive north there's a nice walking town just around the corner. If you like olive oil, garden amenities, and wine there's Los Olivos. Grappolo meaning cluster but poetically meaning "warmth and richness" An Unexpected delight! Welcoming interior, wonderful engaging owners and delicious food! Don't let the exterior of the restaurant give you second thoughts, the interior is very different. The minute you step in, you feel the welcoming comfortable cozy atmosphere, it's just the right size, thus the word Grappolo , we found it to be aptly named. We enjoyed savoring the Linguini Mare Monte and Cotoletta Alla Milanese both wonderfully prepared, visually pleasing dishes with a wonderful richness of taste and beautifully arranged pork chops topped with arugula, shaved Parmesan, potatoes, spinach and carrots. They also have a very nice selection of wines. Now, the desserts... My absolute favorite, it really is absolutely done to perfection, it's their Panna Cotta, smooth as silk with just the right consistency that melds with the chocolate & caramel & garnished with strawberry & mint, the Crostata Di Mele, caramelized apples topped with vanilla gelato also a delicious treat! We'll be back next time we're in Solvang.

Margarita pizza is pretty good.

This is a nice neighborhood restaurant. More family than fancy. I thought it was going to be a bit fancier but that's fine. Split a Caesar salad. Don't see the splitting charge noted on the menu but at least they did a nice job splitting it. Very anchovy flavor forward which was ok. The piece of dry flatbread was not an improvement over a good homemade crouton. Suggest they change that. Service was good. We had lasagna and a margarita pizza. Pizza was good but nothing fancy but tasty. Lasagna had a pink sauce with a tomato soup flavor which is not awesome. It was good but not great. I think a 4.2 Yelp rating is about right. If I was craving Italian in the area I would come back and skip the lasagna.

This cozy Italian restaurant is pure perfection!!! I am truly sorry not to have taken pictures of our meals to share with you all but enough to say that they were so delicious that we couldn't wait to enjoy them!! Our little family of 5, had the following: we started with the Beet Salad that was savory with pine nuts and so flavorful! We also had to have the caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes and a burrata cheese that melded the flavors just right. My little one had the fettuccine Alfred (they offer half portions for kids and I must say the portion were not that small) the fettuccine was creamy and rich and the linguine was cooked to perfection, the lasagna was cheesy, rich and flavorful making this a favorite comfort food, the tortellini with spinach that was light and creamy, the capellini with a light tomato sauce was flavorful and light, the funghi salsiccia was so delicious with its flavorful sausage and truffle oil that blended so well together making this a table favorite, and of course a meal is not complete without dessert to which we had the créme brûlée that was tasty and the panacota that was a absolutely delicious!!!! Not only was the meal delicious but the staff from the front hostess who greeted you and quickly worked to seat you, to the support staff who were efficient in bringing water, bread, clearing the table without making you feel rushed and packaging your left overs, to the amazing waiter (if you're lucky, Erick will be your guide and happy to assist in choosing anything from wine to food) What an amazing food experience, we can't wait to come back!!

Crudo Pizza

A great fun delicious Italian restaurant!!! The people so friendly. I felt like a local. The Chicken parm and the crudo pizza soooo good!!! Thank You Very Much for the experience! A definite return ASAP!

We had our rehearsal dinner at Trattoria Grappolo's private event space and I'm so glad we did! First, you would have no idea this hidden gem of a room was here since it's detached from the main restaurant. It's a separate building near the back parking lot that features a private bar and restrooms. We had two handicapped parents and the room was perfectly accessible for them! Food is family style for private parties and everyone raved the whole night, going for seconds and thirds of everything! Various private room menus are available to choose from and we were given no hassle about swapping out an item! Our servers were so wonderful and attentive and the entire night was perfect!!!

Hello. Are you open Christmas Eve?

Yes we will be open Xmas eve and closed Xmas day

Hello there! Happy Halloween 🎃 We are looking for a reservation for 2 between 4 and 5:30 PM.…

We are closed today. Sorry

Is it wheelchair accessible to get to the outside porch area?

Yes we do have a ramp in the back of the building that takes you on the porch. Also you can dine under the tent in front of the restaurant without using any ramps at all.

I have a gluten allergy (not sensitivity). Do you have gluten free options prepared without cross contamination? Thank you!

Hi, yes. We have many gluten free options, including a gluten free pasta option (a rice penne). Our cooks are very careful about cross-contamination. We have many guests with gluten allergies and celiac disease, and we have served these guests… Read more

Is it air conditioned?

It is air conditioned inside, but the outdoor patio is not air conditioned. However, if you are planning to visit in the evening, go a little later like 7ish and there should be a pleasant breeze coming from the Santa Ynez mountains. Enjoy!

Do they Dogs allowed?

Yes we allow dogs on the porch

The positive first: walking in everybody was super friendly and greeted us with a smile, and sat us down right away on the patio since we had our dog with us. We ordered the baked brie appetizer and two glasses of red wine. My husband had the Austin Hope Cab and I had a red blend. I don't remember the brand name. It was a little bit expensive for a glass of wine. I wanna say around $25 but we both were in the mood for a good wine and wanted to treat ourselves. The baked Brie was delicious. Negative: the fish and chips and the service. I was so excited to see fish and chips on the menu because it was halibut. I'm used to cod in fish and chips so of course I had to order since I am a huge halibut lover. The table next to us also said what an amazing meal that was and ordered one to go. We received our fish and chips from not our server and the person dropped the meal and left without asking us if we needed anything. My husband and I looked at the fish and chips and immediately started laughing. It looked like little fish nuggets as opposed to fish! I kind of thought we were being punked. We waited and waited for the server to come by or a manager or some thing and could not get anybody to come talk to us. It took 14 minutes for her to finally come tap on our table and ask if everything was OK. We told her it was not OK and to look at the size of the fish and she said she would go tell the kitchen and asked if we wanted to remake it. At that point, we weren't even hungry anymore. We were just kind of annoyed at the entire situation. She comes back out a few minutes later and says we're going to take it off of your bill. We don't see her for a while and then the manager comes over and says we took it off of your bill. He didn't ask if there's any way to make it right he just said OK anyways and walked away at the end. Being in the restaurant industry for many years, I thought this was pretty offensive. If I were him, I probably would have made another one right away or offered something they are known for like their pizza. So overall, I wouldn't be back. I think there's many other restaurants around there and to be treated like that after how we were served....no thank you!

I wanted to love this place because of the aesthetic however, the owner (guy who wears the golf cap) immediately seemed annoyed that my friend and I wanted to grab a drink there. He just handed us the menus without acknowledging us. For reference it was not busy. So we sat down and he did stop by to take our order. There was one couple next to us and WOW! He came and asked them "Where are you guys visiting from?" And that was a whole conversation. He then came back a few minutes later to ask how their drinks were. And my friend and I were not acknowledged one bit and we were sitting right next to them and were the only ones in the room with them so it was very obvious. We did not feel welcome at all. It was such a bad feeling so I will definitely not waste my time or money at this place if I were you.

In fact, I professionally moonlight as Historian specializing in medieval English history! This means that I am a sucker for anything reminding of the time period; making the Santa Barbara-adjacent Danish city of Solvang right up my alley with its medieval storybook streets/architecture. Among the many spots in Solvang that make my heart go pitter-patter is The Good Life: a cellar wine/ale/tavern- bar. Grab your favorite wench and come along to grab a pint... Stroll down Mission Drive in the famous Danish city of Solvang and you will be delighted to venture upon The Good Life that appears to pop out of a medieval history book with exposed wooden beans, plaster exterior walls and an entrance that resides at basement level (they don't call it a cellar bar for nothing!). Owned by a husband-wife team with extensive hospitality and restaurant experience under their belts in 2012; the charm of The Good Life is instantaneous and perfect for a gal like me obsessed with this sort of thing. Prepare to be instantly transported into the 15th century! Once you cross the threshold of The Good Life, the Shakesperean feel continues but is also modernized with a glowing fireplace, plush arm chairs and high bar tables (plus bar seating) and floor to ceiling wine racks. The Good Life is a perfect ratio of Solvang tradition with hints of romance making it ideal for a casual beverage, tourist pop-in or memorable date night drink. The latter is exactly how my boyfriend and I happened to come across The Good Life as we were visiting Solvang from Los Angeles for the city's Christmas-time Julefest. We had just spent the evening making holiday memories among the city's Christmas trees, twinkling lights and sugary delights. Post Danish-dinner, we decided to wrap up our forever-Solvang memory with a drink at The Good Life. We were immediately greeted by the male manning The Good Life without any attitude or distaste towards us for coming in as he was preparing to close for the evening. If he was upset with us in any way - he certainly didn't show it! The Good Life features an amazing menu of local and international wines, beers, ales, meads, ciders, and ports that make The Good Life feel fancy-schmancy and artisan; but also, neighborhood friendly for your favorite hipster or friend next door. My boyfriend and I shared a cider (I wish I remembered the specific one but alas my memory evades me) while enjoying the atmosphere of warmth at The Good Life. Other customers sat in the plush chairs with notepads and tarot cards, an older couple arrived to cap off the evening and I enjoyed the view of my boyfriend in a medieval-Danish inspired cellar bar. The Good Life is standout at accommodating to all customers and making sure no one feels out of place. A bountiful tip as important as the bosom of a medieval bar wench: the bathroom at The Good Life is labeled as 'Office'. Don't worry, you won't walk in on someone preparing accounting books and the only business happening behind this door involves you and your private matters. The Good Life is delightful and unique but doesn't just stop there: it also differentiates itself with a truly impressive alcohol selection that allows you to be introduced to local, national, Danish and international bevies you have surely not tried prior. The Good Life is recommended for a drink on your next trip to the tourist-friendly city of Solvang. Even if you aren't pretending to be in medieval times...
