Stopped by on a Saturday night for their Line Dancing. We had made reservations, so we were able to be seated quickly in the Line Dancing bar. This place is pretty rough looking. It's a bar! We had a great server. We had a couple of orders of wings. They were good....it's bar food. We had a drink in the regular bar before we left. Lots of bartenders working and they were all very cordial. And boy, were they busy! I don't think we will probably go back only because this place is more for the rowdy yungins. We tried to Line Dance, but many of these kids don't understand Line Dance floor etiquette. Stay in your space!! They will step all over you and don't really care. We did have fun until it got real busy. Vanessa, the DJ, was awesome. She taught a couple of dances and played some great music. read more

Very Upsetting Experience. First I will preface that I have been to the Maverick more times than I can count. The woman working publicly humiliated me by telling my party and bar goers inside my ID was Fake and I was lying. We asked to speak to the manager and Maddy (the woman serving us) claimed to be the manager and doubled down that I was lying. I go there enough to know she is relatively new and she was extremely rude and seemed to enjoy this ego trip. I took her aside and showed her another copy of my state issued License and proved her wrong and there was so recourse or apology in response. Mind you this all took place on a Wednesday at 2pm with a party of 6 other people who all grew up in the area and frequent the Maverick.... My ID was issued in 2026 so just be warned if it "looks different" this crazy lady will make a scene and question your character. OH! And they just added a vending machine... kinda a vibe killer, especially with the 5$ date rape tests and $2.25 for 2 tampons! read more

Has always been one of my favorite bars so I reached out to them to host my birthday party with over 130 guests. The events manager was terrible to work with, slow to respond and basically lost the bar thousands of dollars that night since we ended up going to the Elks across the street instead for the main party. I offered to pay for the band that night to guarantee a Maverick regular would play on our birthday - they turned me down. I wanted to have an open bar for my guests and asked if we could do tickets or wristbands for my guests - they said no. I asked if they would reserve us a few tables inside if we bought food and drink with them - they said no. So the Elks got my business and were amazing and I am sure the Elks loved my $2500 bar bill that night. Maverick, get it together. When someone wants to work with you on a party, you might have to actually try and work with them. read more

Hit this joint up on a Tuesday for karaoke and it was cool. Drinks are strong but the chow is ok. Chicken fried chicken needed more spice n salt and pastrami egg rolls were not it. The Burrata flat bread was fire though. On weekends they have live music and a DJ. The DJ at karaoke not only played cool jams but could sing like a bird. read more

After sitting by the pool at Chumash Casino & playing a few slot machines, everyone wanted a bite to eat. So, I jumped on Yelp and found this place. It was unanimous!!!! From the minute we pulled into the parking lot I felt like we were pulled back in time to the Western Cowboy times. The saloon was all wood and we sat at a table on the front porch. Our server handed us menus and took our drink order immediately...after all it is a "saloon!" We ordered street tacos, angus beef sliders, garlic fries, and a Mav sampler. When I saw the photos, I was skeptical but I must say Mavericks impressed. Nestled a few minutes away from Solvang it made for a great dinner choice. From the gate we called to reserve a table for 6 and they had it ready for us on arrival. We opted to sit inside but the patio looked like a great choice for the warmer months. Our server was incredibly attentive and helpful with our special dietary and kids meal needs. The highlights of the meal included the 1963 cocktail, Jalapeño Poppers, the Nachos (they were so good that we ordered a second one which they made vegan), the Potato Hash Tacos, the County Fried Chicken, and the Cheese Flatbread. Side bar: the bathroom was very clean. Don't judge a book by its cover. read more

Local watering hole thats been around a minute, this 1900s saloon is obviously a locals establishment that tolerates tourists. This cool spot was within walking distance of my lodging and seemed like the logical choice. So I passed through recently on a business trip and stopped in for a bite to eat. This locale is as much a watering hole as it is a people watching spot and restaurant. I sat at a booth on the side and my server followed me with a menu. After a quick peruse for an appetizer, onion rings to start. It comes in a whole and half order option, I went for the half order of onion rings to munch on while my dinner was prepared, it was plenty for one. Golden brown crunchy onions, pretty good but a little greasy. For my entree I went for the Pan Seared Chicken. This is a delicious pan seared chicken thats served with a spread of mash, with mushrooms onions and a brown gravy thats very savory and tasty. It was a nice piece of chicken though a bit small for the price. I just wished there had been another piece or a larger one. This was not a cheap entree, in fact the most expensive on the menu. That being said, it was still a good meal. That alone left me wanting something else so I opted for the Cheesecake, this was a sublime seasonal cheesecake with fresh blue berries. A traditional style with an elevated twist. Creamy smooth and delicious. This review is not for the bar or the entertainment. I had dinner there last night and I had the fried chicken. The brown gravy they use has absolutely no flavor, no seasoning whatsoever and was awful. It just tasted like goop. The chicken was cooked. Great, IF they only seasoned it with some flavor. They need to start using seasoning on their food. It tasted like hospital bland food! The service was atrocious. Definitely need to hire more servers for a Bar/Restaurant that size. Ordered lunch to go (staying locally on vacation)- pulled pork and dirty bird sammiches, and fried zucchini. While it did only take the promised 15 minutes we were disappointed. The bird had no flavor and no cheese. Mostly a tasteless patty even with the garlic aioli. The pulled pork by itself was fine but when mixed with the coleslaw it was too vinegary. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. The place is quirky with lots of dollar bills pined to the wall and ceiling and a fun western vibe. There was a concert going on Nextdoor so that was fun. We could see a bit of it on the TV screens inside the restaurant as well as hear it too. The food was good, not excellent, but fine. We ordered the Elote as an appetizer and I thought it had too much mayonnaise. The one thing I would recommend is to get a water purifier because the water tasted off like chlorine. Maverick's has a great following so we may try it again when visiting. read more

We so enjoyed this local's spot. We ordered a selection of appetizers & sandwiches. Sadly, our food was a disappointment. The sliders were the best of the bunch, but the wings were dry, barely room temp & overcooked (bones falling apart in your mouth with each bite) & dripping with a thick cold buffalo sauce, inedible. However, our server was friendly, funny & welcoming. The drinks were good, with half price happy hour appetizers. Came here for a second time before leaving - wanted to enjoy one last dinner! Got here about 1:45pm, and not many people so I was able to get "my corner" again - yayy! I was lucky to have Adriana as my server again; she was great from my previous visit so I knew I was in great hands. And I was right! Excellent service. They have a Taco Thursday special from 2pm, but I was offered that option although it was a bit early. The tacos are TriTip (asada), chicken, or veggie for $2 each; you can also have Salmon or Blackened Catfish for $4 each, all are a la carte. The last time I was here had a great meal, but wanted to switch it up a bit. I ordered the Impossible burger (with cheddar, Mav sauce, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and caramelized onions) and I substituted the fries with onion rings for an additional $3. I also tried the canned Guinness, as a special treat! And, as a sample, I ordered a veggie taco. That would be my dessert! The food came out taco first, and it was a nice looking taco with the two small corn tortillas and a nice assortment of chopped vegetables (grilled?) on top, with a small lime wedge on the side. The burger came out soon after, and was open faced to show off the ingredients. Looked tasty! I added a bit of mayo (there wasn't much Mav sauce) and it was pretty tasty and moist - the mayo was probably not needed, in hindsight. The onion rings were a bit of a disappointment - they were a bit overcooked for my taste, and there about 7. That amount I expect for a regular side, not for an extra $3. Should have had a side salad for same cost. The taco was delicious! I have never had a veggie taco like this. The veggies were well seasoned and the taco had a slightly spicy heat as well. Would have had a few more, but was filled with the burger. A few of these for under $10 total would be a good meal. So, kind of thinking the onion rings were only problem, so won't knock down (think 4.5 stars) because the great ambience and service is almost a 6 in my books anyway. Look forward to my next trip south. Whatever this place did to stay open during the shutdowns and all seems to be working! Best luck going forward . . . read more

What can you say about a bar that had no choice but to add food in order to remain open due to Covid restrictions? That's about what you can expect when you order a meal at Mavericks ; they are serving up food because they gotta. I can't complain as I love the low key vibe, local vibe ( this is where my family who lives in town always drinks). This has been the traditional watering hole for those who live in the area so when tough times call for desperate measures, I'm glad they were able to find a solution to keep the doors open. On this trip, we ordered a variety of the items from the menu: Fried Chicken skins, Fried pickled vegetables, Fried pig ears, Burgers, Wedge salad, Chicken wings and the tri-tip plate. the tri-tip plate was definitely the highlight of the menu. They cooked the meat perfectly so I was surprised when my burger came out dry as it was overcooked (i like my medium to rare). When you come in with the knowledge this is just the run of the mill, bar food experience, you will appreciate what they are trying to do. The prices are decent for the valley and it's nice to support a locally owned, long standing establishment. read more

After the country music band left they played some fun hip hop. Free shuttle to and from the casino. It was a mixed bag of people all out for a good time.
