I just love the Maverick saloon! It is always a stop when I'm traveling through the central coast. They have a happy hour and a beautiful outdoor deck where you can sit and enjoy the sun while you are eating and drinking. Typical bar, food and drink, but good people watching and such friendly service!

Went for the tomahawk special. The steak was really good - had to ask for more of the green sauce. Service was fine, it's decorated to look old western.

Been coming here for years. Always a great local watering hole. Everytime I visit Santa Ynez or Solvang I roll through. Great service and drinks, cool vibe and fun place to have a few drinks!

Well, this is amazing how many dollar bills are tacked to the ceiling.

This bar is like walking back in time. The first impression is the locals like it. The ceiling is interesting, it's covered triple deep in cash. Our cocktails were great. the old fashion was especially done very well.

Hit this joint up on a Tuesday for karaoke and it was cool. Drinks are strong but the chow is ok. Chicken fried chicken needed more spice n salt and pastrami egg rolls were not it. The Burrata flat bread was fire though. On weekends they have live music and a DJ. The DJ at karaoke not only played cool jams but could sing like a bird.

We started with Bloody Marys, which were insanely good. They were out of the Verde, but the bartender improvised and made us something even better. It came with what might be the best bacon I've ever had, which is a bold claim but I stand by it. He even came out to check on us and talk through what he was testing. We loved them. We ordered the deviled eggs with trout roe, which were to die for. Highly recommend. Then we split the breakfast sandwich. They divided it in the kitchen and brought it out with two side salads, which is always such a nice touch. Service was incredible, the atmosphere was lovely, and the whole thing felt a little indulgent in the best way. Exactly what you want on a beautiful spring day in Santa Ynez. We had great cocktails, made at the gorgeous bar in the next room. Two couples, and we each split our orders and they plated everything separated for us, which was wonderful! Started with cold oysters, Caesar salad (sprinkled with smoked paprika, which was a cool enhancement.) We couldn't resist trying the soup of the day, which was a corn chowder. Each couple split a cup and it was incredible! Then had the Santa Maria tri-tip with chimichurri and duck fat fries. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the fries were also. Our server, Ernesto, could not have been nicer. Definitely a recommended restaurant, and we all said we would return the next time we are up in Santa Ynez.

We walked in early, asked to sit at the bar, and our reservation was honored. The restaurant was bustling but service did not feel rushed or hurried. We were lucky to dine at the bar; Mr. Maciel took truly excellent care of us the whole evening, remembering every request and taking care of every detail for our dining experience. His wine recommendations were also spot on. We decided to focus on three different pastas and were not disappointed. Highly recommended. My absolute favorite was the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle but honestly, every pasta was delicious. Portions were generous and leftovers were promptly boxed up to take home. Folks clearly schedule special dinners here, warranting dressing up, but casual diners such as ourselves also felt comfortable. I'd recommend dining at the bar for exceptional service and a front-line seat to all the action.

Elite Yelper Isobel L. and I ate at the bar to view the hard working staff in the kitchen and at the bar. Our barman, Mr. Maciel, was really informative and helpful in choosing the right wine to pair by the glass and making sure we were supplied with appropriate dining accoutrements along the way. He even let me sample two alternate wines for me to determine which pairing may be optimal. Perusing the menu, the pasta at S.Y. seemed the most intriguing so I asked that each pasta dish come out one at a time to be paired with the previously discussed wines. 1) SPAGHETTI con VONGOLE E BOTTARGA: Spaghetti was perfectly al dente. Shells of Manila clams were wide open presenting their briny, meatiness. Bottarga seemed like dried mullet roe to add a mild sea funkiness. Roasted fennel for an aromatic licorice finish. Soupçon of Calabrian chiles. All in a light white wine reduction. 1a) Vermentino | Podere San Cristoforo Maremma "Luminoso" 2021: Lively white wine with refreshing citrus and fennel undertone. Good acidity and minerality to cleanse the palate. 2) WILD MUSHROOM PAPPARDELLE: Wide flat, firm wheat pasta. Fresh woodsy, wild mushrooms, thyme, Parmigiano Reggiano. Seems napped with a touch of butter or evoo. 2a) Pinot Noir, Altamarea, Santa Barbara County, 2023: Subdued damask rose and strawberry bouquet. Sparkling garnet red wine as mentioned by Elite Yelper Isobel L. Fruit forward, lush black fruits, mellow acidity & tannins melded well with the creaminess of this pasta dish. Good call by Bartender Maciel. 3) Gigli al Ropeton: Salsiccia, Pancetta, Mascarpone, Pecorino, Pomodoro, Basilico: Mascarpone added creaminess while Pecorino had a right amount of gamey dairy all to create an overriding cheesiness. House made crumbly pellets of Salsiccia Italiana and Pancetta added porkiness. Sugo di Pomodoro has a sweet tomato sauce acidity that unified this hearty dish. 3a) Nebbiolo, Poderi Colla, Alba "Drago" 2023: Good solid red wine from Piedmonte. Heavier dark fruits such as black berry. Light acidity and tannins. 4) TAHITIAN VANILLA PANNA COTTA: Refreshing, light, creamy, vanilla pudding. Caramel, ladies' kisses cookie crumbles and scattering of blueberries and raspberries, sprig of spearmint. 5) PISTACHIO CRÈME BRÛLÉE: 100% Sicilian pistachio inside the thick, dense Crème Caramel filling, which seems similar to Leche Asado, with glazed sugar top coating. 4+ Stars

Crust was done beautifully, spice was apparent, but played a small role in comparison to the butter and perfect sweetness of the cornbread. I've had cornbread from the South; I think this is the best cornbread I've ever had. Whoever makes the cornbread should be praised heavily and possibly have a statue built for them. Meat was cooked very well. Brisket and Chicken were exceptionally good and should be the main priority due to their tenderness and flavor. However, the ribs were okay at best, a little chewy not really what you would expect from a place like this. Pulled pork was automatically covered in Carolina Gold which was a little questionable, but the texture and the quality of the meat were very good. Sides were exceptionally good as well. The mac and cheese, fries, potatoes, and slaw were pretty freakin sweet I'd say. They compliment the entrées pretty well. Please provide more options of sauce OR do not put the carolina gold on the pulled pork. Service was alright at most, nothing really special. The busser's checked up on us more than the actual servers. If you need accommodations they're happy to provide and do so in an efficient manner. It seemed like the service was mainly reactive rather than proactive. Cornbread alone gives this place five sha-bangs outta five. we are coming back to grab cornbread, if you're trying anything in Solvang surprisingly this would be a good place to go.

Celebrating our nation's 250th birthday in beautiful Solvang!…read more We ate at Craft House four times during our visit--and for good reason! It is, in our opinion, the best restaurant in Solvang. Every meal was exceptional, and the service was consistently outstanding. From the moment we walked in, Daniel welcomed us with a warm smile that made us feel right at home. At our first breakfast, Taylor provided friendly, attentive service that set the tone for the rest of our visits. That evening, we enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer, beet & burrata salad, short rib grilled cheese and black tie burger. Every dish was absolutely delicious. On our second breakfast visit, Sandra took wonderful care of us. She is such an asset to Craft House--knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely welcoming. Sophia, who brought out our food several times, always greeted us with the biggest smile. You can tell she truly loves what she does. The avocado toast and chorizo quesadilla were definite standouts, and every meal exceeded our expectations. We arrived a little bit early to our reservation, and even though the restaurant was only about 20% full, we waited for about 10 minutes for someone to check us in. The dish comes with large florets of cauliflower, so we had to cut it up into smaller pieces. For my entree, I got the Local Miso Black Cod with spinach, sesame dressing, and miso butter. The fish was moist and flakey. I enjoyed it! I also tried the New Zealand Rack of Lamb that had asparagus ratatouille, crispy potatoes, and lamb jus. I'd Gather Not One…read moreof Solvang's newest restaurants isn't known for its æbleskivers or Danishes, but rather for French-Asian fusion, and is led by Indonesian-born head chef and co-owner, Budi Kazali. They promise to bring you bold flavors using fresh seasonal ingredients in an elegant but approachable space. The Good: * Reservations via OpenTable™ * Free street and city lot parking nearby. * Dog-friendly outdoor dining * Right on the downtown strip in Solvang, next to our favorite bakery. * Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Fried Rice) was delicious and hit all the right notes. The fried chicken add-on was a different story, though... See below. * Caesar Salad had a delicious flavor, but Carissa found the salad to be a bit overdressed for her liking. I didn't mind it, but I like an obscene amount of dressing on my salads, so go figure? Salmon was a little undercooked for her liking, but again, I wouldn't mind it a bit pink. So, comme ci, comme ça. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The Meh: * Not all the outdoor spaces are shaded/covered. * Prices are a bit absurd for certain items. Yeah, I know it's über-touristy Solvang, but jfc. $12-14 for a beer? And don't get me started on $12 for some of the blandest and most minuscule serving of fried chicken ever. * We arrived ten minutes early for our reservation, and the hostess seemed very annoyed that we were. In fact, she made us wait until it was time for our reservation to the very minute--despite the restaurant being at less than 10% capacity. * Service wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't say it was good, either. More on this below. The Ugly: * I ordered the Hazy IPA they had on tap, and when it arrived, I could tell it wasn't a particularly "hazy" Hazy IPA. But I figured some are better than others. For my second drink, I asked for the Clown Shoes IPA they had in a can. When the waitress returned with it, she admitted that the first beer she'd brought me was actually the same Clown Shoes IPA. Apparently, they'd run out of the Hazy IPA and decided to make the substitution without asking me. It's not a huge deal--I probably would have made the same substitution myself--but I definitely wouldn't have ordered a second one if I'd known it was the only IPA they had in-house. Like I said, it's not the end of the world, but for some reason, it just feels a little devious. Would they have made a substitution without asking a wine connoisseur? I would hope not, but now it kind of makes you wonder. Conclusion: Not a great experience here, from the hostess to the waitress to the food. I wish them luck.
