My friend and I were craving Mexican food while in Solvang and decided to try Don Nacho's Café after finding it on Google and I'm glad we did! The food took a little while to come out, but it was definitely worth the wait. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and full of authentic Mexican flavor. You can tell care went into the dishes. The only thing to keep in mind is the portion size it's a bit small for a Latin restaurant, especially at around $20 per plate. Still, the quality makes up for it. Customer service was okay. Since you pay before eating, they didn't really come by our table to check in, which felt a bit impersonal. The place is very quiet, nice decor. Was in Solvang and walked by Don Nachos and decided to try it. I'm happy we did because it was very good with good customer service! I tried the enchiladas with steak and it was delicious. It comes with three but it's not much. The beans and rice was 5/5 as well. They don't give you a big portion, which is good but just enough food. The salsa and chips are good as well. I honestly didn't know this Mexican restaurant existed until my cousin brought me here. It's tucked away and kind of hidden amongst all the bakeries, but just look up for the hanging sign next to Mad Hatter. It's easy to get distracted walking in a touristy area, so you'll miss it if not paying attention! The restaurant itself is small, but there's indoor seating and a few tables outside. Luckily on our visit the restaurant wasn't too busy. I decided to order chicken enchiladas. The prices here are very reasonable for what you get. The enchiladas were delicious! My son ordered the cheese pupusas, which I was able to try and they were perfect. I would definitely order those myself. My cousins enjoyed their meals as well. A great restaurant to get away from the crowds. It's tucked away at a prime spot near the iconic Solvang Windmill. There's a few tables indoors and "outdoors". Service is welcoming. My boyfriend ordered the enchiladas plate while I ordered the carnitas tacos plate. He thought the food was a bit salty though it's a great portion for the price. I kept hearing about a Mexican place I need to try in Solvang and could never find it. This year I made it a point to locate it and I was not disappointed it is a small place inside the arcade of a larger building. I had the fajitas which were cooked to perfection my partner also enjoyed her enchiladas service was quick and friendly the only thing that really kept it from five stars is I would say the portions are smaller than you would usually see but it was still very filling. Always meant to try Don Nachos and finally got to this trip. Great place for takeout. I always judge based on the chips and these were incredibly fresh and had an amazing salt ratio. Guac tasted fresh. Would have loved if the tacos were available a la carte since I never really eat the rice and beans on the platter, but the al pastor and asada street tacos tasted great with the green salsa.
