My mom and I were craving some tacos so we decided to try Highway Tacos. When we arrived, there was a few people but it wasn't overly crowded. We took a look at the menu then got in line to order. I ended up opting for some chicken nachos. Whilst waiting, my mom and I ordered some jarritos. They're in a big cooler and you pick out which flavor you want. We took a seat at one of the tables whilst waiting. After a few short minutes, our food arrived. It was very delicious! There was a generous amount of toppings on my nachos. The chicken itself was grilled but not dry. The tortilla chips were very crunchy and tasted like they were made in house. Overall, I had an efficient experience at Highway Tacos but a delicious one. Highway Taco is a really cool taco shop set up along Hwy 246 like a food truck, but in an Airstream trailer with tables set up in front. You can smell all the delicious meat being grilled as soon as you pull up. They have some specialty tacos that include guacamole, queso fresco and crema that typical street tacos don't include. I tried the Pollito Asadito ($5) with chicken, queso fresco, pico de gallo, crema, guacamole, cilantro, onion and salsa. Bomb! I also got the Casero with flour tortilla, chicharrón prensado, beans, pico de gallo, cheese, guacamole and salsa. The chicharrón prensado is uniquely made here and flavorful, like chorizo. Their corn tortillas are made in house and are so fluffy! Their salsas are so good too! I loved the creamy orange one, which may have been made with pepitas (pumpkin seeds). Shared al pastor nachos with my friends and it was loaded with cheese, guac, beans, pico de gallo, crema and queso fresco. The al pastor was pretty fatty and chewy. My friends liked the street tacos, 3 for $10! They also liked the Calabazita, the zucchini tacos with jalapeño, onion and queso fresco. The orders came out quick too. We were staying at a near by Airbnb and decided to give Highway Tacos a try based on the Yelp reviews. It was only a few minutes away and when we arrived, the location gave a movie scene backdrop vibe, with string lights and the classic airstream taco truck. We were extremely satisfied with the tacos. Not only were the tacos super tasty but the tortillas were freshly made and the carne asada was yummy. We tried all the salsas and they were all very satisfying with a kick. I don't know where to begin with this one. The customer service at this location is by far one of the best I have ever experienced. Their food is delicious and freshly made to order. They are constantly grilling meat, so you get the best flavor. I am not a chicken taco person, but this is a must try. Make sure to pour some of that habanero sauce on it. Their tacos are so good and filling! We were visiting Solvang and came across Highway Tacos on Yelp. We were going to have our dinner here but I decided to go to a sit down restaurant instead... (regretfully, it was expensive and not satisfying.. but that's for another review) We decided to come by the next day and thankfully we did! We got their chips and guac, 2 orders of their 3 for $10 tacos and 2 mulitas. All of them were so good and we left stuffed! (It was me, my husband and our child). I found this spot thanks to my girlfriend, who spotted it as we were driving up to Solvang. Tucked away next to the highway, this place is an absolute hidden gem! The tacos are incredibly authentic--true Mexican flavors with handmade tortillas that are fresh, soft, and absolutely delicious. I love these tacos so much that I've even made the drive up here just to eat them! On our most recent trip, we ended up eating here three nights in a row for dinner, and I have no regrets. The flavors, quality, and freshness keep me coming back. I didn't get a picture of the quesadilla, but trust me--it was amazing. Thick, cheesy, and packed with flavor. Don't let this place fool you. Thought for years passing by it was a white washed joint with an airstream, but it is actually delicious and authentic. The service does seem a little lacking though and there always seems to be confusion on whether you are supposed to get the food yourself or let them get it and bring it to you. 3 for 10 street tacos are the best in town. Way better than the place down the street. I've tried every mexican spot in this area and this is my favorite one by far. The meats are so well cooked, so tender, and I would bathe in their habenero hot sauce (the orange one). The tomatillo salsa they give out is good too but the orange habanero one is the best. The al pastor and the carnitas are my runner ups but usually I just get all chicharron for my 3 tacos because it's so good. My boyfriend knows that if I had a bad day at work or I'm giving him attitude or I'm hangry all he needs to do is get me the chicharronsito prensado tacos from Highway Tacos. They're that good, they literally have the ability to change your mood. Tried the nachos for the first time today too (pictured) and they were great too. The lady working kept looking at me but didn't check in on my order. We came here while visiting solvang. Solvang closes so early so it was hard to find places open. This spot was open late so it was perfect! My bf and I got the 3 street tacos and a mulita. We ended up ordering another mulita after we ate because it was so good. The pastor mulita is a must!!! But overall the food was great. I had the beef cheek (my favorite, I got two), chicken (such an amazing smoky taste too), al pastor (amazing), lengua (I'm not usually into beef tongue but oh my god this was perfection), and the Mushroom taco was really good even if you are not a vegetarian!
