I've lived in Buellton for 7 years and this spot hasn't been inviting at all. We once tried to eat here and actually left after being seated because it was not a welcoming atmosphere. However, the new ownership and revamp had really brought this place back to life. We just came to eat here for lunch and it was great! The parking is easy, we were able to get seated quickly on a Sunday, and the staff were very friendly. Chips and salsa came out quickly and I really liked the salsa! We opted for the tostada salad with chicken for our meal and it was excellent. The prices are super affordable and the ambiance inside is really nice now. We will definitely be back! read more

Came in on a Sunday morning. Service was pleasant and fast. Salsa appears made in house. A little watery and lacking a kick, but was flavorful. Ordered the enchilada suiza, rice was fresh, moist, and properly spiced. Beans were tasty and had ample cheese on top. The enchiladas were a little small but had good flavor. The verde sauce was different than I am used to, but had good flavor and set off the chicken and cheese perfectly. I will return and try a different dish, and I was not disappointed this trip. Out the door with a full belly. One person, the meal and a drink for $29 (tip included). Well worth the money. read more

This place was inconsistent in the past with old operator. New management took over at end of December and MUCH improved. Food is authentic and very large portions and extremely reasonable prices. Hear timers so checked it out and loved it. Ambiance is ethically correct, service was very good, the operator is on site daily. Drove 30 mins to give them a try for the first time. They were closed on a day and time when everything online shows they are open. Even a sign out front shows they should have been open. Not sure what happened but probably won't try again. read more

The food was delicious. The server only spoke Spanish. The place is festive inside, but a little run down.

Decent food, ample portions, excellent service, but there was a strong chemical based cleaner smell in the dining room that nearly made me gag. Like someone just doused the place in a cheap Pine-Sol knock off. I am sensitive to chemical based cleaners, especially if they are around where I am eating and this was enough to ruin my whole meal, which otherwise would have been great. Hi - We had a very enjoyable lunch at Tonos on 19 February 2025. In our booth, with an especially pretty "3D" painting watching over us, we were served our two, double meal sized burritos. The three Tonos people we met were helpful and likeable. They are still working on some restaurant loose ends since taking over the business at the beginning of the year. Yelp, today, lists two Tonos reviews not currently recommended by them. Like recent reviews, both are 2025 5-star reviews which we agree with. Small little restaurant with no more then 2 other ppl. Service was slow, we were a party of four when there was only two other ppl in the restaurant and one of who was eating. I got the fajita trio which the chicken smelled as if it were rotten when I asked to return the plate the gave it at a discounted price. Agua chiles were not cooked in lime as stated but boiled. The asada burrito was good no complaints, we also got the fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Shrimp was okay and fish was good. read more

This place is dirty, the food is gross. The silverware wasn't even cleaned well. Service was pretty slow and they weren't even busy.

Please disregard all the previous reviews before Jan 1, 2025. I wish Yelp would let the new owners start off from scratch because all those bad reviews don't apply anymore. It's now clean, delicious and fairly priced. I wouldn't step foot in it before but luckily our local Facebook group started to recommend them under their new ownership and it didn't disappoint! So I was passing thru town for the first time. It's an interesting lil town. I finally seen that Andersons split pea soup restaurant lol. I been wanting a good carne asada burrito for quite some time. I know it was a gamble. But surprisingly it was pretty good. The meat was a lil overcooked but it was ok. The beans were pretty tasty. So over all I was content with the burrito. Only a couple people were inside during lunch time. I wanted to sit outside with my dog. But they were not really cool with that.. what's the big deal I am a paying customer. Cmon now l! SMH anyways price wise it was $16 with a Mexican coke!! My wife chose not to eat here l. We were staying at Flying Flags for a few days and at breakfast the first morning, asked the Latina server where the best authentic Mexican restaurant was...she adamantly said Toños. I can only assume it has been a while since she's been there...or she was thinking take-out, but what I experienced was atrocious. I normally find that old, family-owned, hole-in-the-wall places have the best food...and I seek them out. I can even overlook the decore and condition of the joint...but this was beyond overlooking. There must be either an issue with their plumbing, or they just don't clean their restrooms, because the stench of urine was so thick that I couldn't imagine eating...and almost lost my appetite all together. I hope this was an isolated incident and not the norm...but I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Traditional Mexican restaurant. We stop here whenever we can to get our authentic fix of Mexican food. Not fancy, just real. Over the years we've had some interesting dishes, all of them delicious. Quail and Cornish game hens have been part of the menu items over the decades. We moved out of state but still try to stop here when we can. read more

Wanted to try somewhere new and not a chain in the Buellton area and decided to try this place for lunch. Kind of a run down exterior, but that often doesn't mean much for good Mexican restaurants. This however just ended up being in need of an update all around. The one server was friendly and immediately welcomed up and got us our table and drinks. The menu looked decent, but was surprise to see only one burrito option. That being said, I do want to come back to try some of their whole fish since that is something relatively hard to find around here. My wife ordered a chile relleno and I ordered a chile colorado burrito. We got our meal very quickly, within 5 minutes. We hadn't even had a chance to touch the chips and salsa. The burrito looked good and was of decent size, especially for the price. The chile relleno however was the opposite. It looked unappetizing and deflated, probably 1/2 the size at best of every other chile relleno I've seen. The plate was unusually hot with the relleno dish as well, so it seemed even more so like a reheated dish. The burrito was decent, but the meat seemed bland compared to other chile colorado I have had. Over all it was a decent experience especially considering the price and service. I'd give them one more chance, but I don't think I'll try them for lunch again. read more

Went for dinner. Food was OK, but not great. As we were about to pay our bill my wife spotted a Cockroach on the wall behind us. My wife snapped a quick picture of it as it walked across the table (and silverware) behind us. The manager was called, and we told him about the Cockroach. My wife showed him the picture she took. He said "thank you for telling me". What!?!? No "sorry" or apology of any kind. He then went to the table behind us and found it. He smashed it on the table and brushed it onto the floor. All of the meat is cooked to perfection, and the sauces and flavors are absolute perfection. We were greeted and had an excellent service with our server. All of the food was fresh and inviting. Anybody traveling in this area this is the place to eat did I mention affordability everything was priced very low for the service and food that I received. I have never tasted chili Colorado that had zero taste until I tried this place. It had no flavor. It was brought out within 3 minutes of me ordering it so must not have been fresh. After scouring the businesses (for the "light") I had FOUND the CULPRIT: "Toños Mexican Restaurant"! I haven't been INSIDE/a CUSTOMER - yet... and, with their LASER LIGHTS BLINDING DRIVERS (when they have their FRONT DOOR OPEN, the lights can "shoot" outside - and, BLIND drivers, WHILE THEY'RE DRIVING... it's happened, to me, on MORE-THAN ONE OCCASION), I'm NOT SURE, that I will be! By NOT keeping the "laser lights" CONTAINED (within their building - when their FRONT DOOR is "Open"), Toños is opening themselves up, for LAWSUITS - "Liability"... as well as an "Inspection", from the HEALTH DEPARTMENT - "Mismanagement/Mishandling of a [potential] weapon"... stopped in to eat lunch on our way out of town. we should have looked up reviews first! We had the WORST service ever! We should have walked out right away as the place was so dirty. We sat at the table and waiting about 15 mins before even being helped. The waiter seemed to not know the menu as we ordered Tostada salads and he asked us what kind of tacos do you want? We had to point to the menu and show him what we wanted. We had to ask twice for our drinks and reminded him to bring chips and salsa. When the food finally arrived it didn't seem fresh at all. The outside of the building is very beat up but the inside looks a little nicer, nothing amazing. We were the only ones in the restaurant during lunch time and they still didn't give us very good service. The waitress was very cold and rude. She didn't listen to my order and had to make me repeat it again. There were flies landing on our food as we were eating and the water tasted exactly like tap. I am not one to judge restaurants, my boyfriend and I eat out a lot and I never have had to review a place. However, everything about this restaurant was just a little gross and the food and water tasted a little off.
