Today was my birthday. So my family decided, " hey we have never had El Toro Bronco. Let's try it." Worst decision ever! The waitress came and asked if we wanted any drinks. We got our drinks... we were never offered water. When she came back with the drinks she prompted us to order. We ordered and never saw her again till the food came. Our chips and salsa basket for the 5 of us remained empty never to be filled. We were never offered any condiments for our dinner... no salt and pepper on the tables. The food tasted horrible. I've had better refried beans at Taco Bell. The Spanish rice was dry and tasteless. My chimichanga tasted like plastic. The guacamole was bought not made. The beans came from a can and the tortillas, if they ever come, taste like plastic. Everything was covered in a layer of grease. Went here for a group lunch, there were about 22 of us. It was my first time here. Didn't look like much from the outside but the inside was nice and clean. The service was great. Our server was quick and the food also came out quick specially with so many people. I ordered the carne asada fries minus the red sauce substitute with green sauce. It was pretty good. They use the thinner and smaller French fries with the meat and cheese on top and a generous helping of guacamole and sour cream on the side. It was really good, not the best I've ever had but also not bad either. Next time I'll try something different. The shrimp taco looked really good and so did the ceviche. Pretty generous on the size and serving typical of a good Mexican restaurant in Southern California. The food was amazing, and our waitress was incredible. Our waitress Sandra was very cordial, outgoing and professional. She was very friendly and easy to get along with! She was very attentative to our orders and drinks, and she always got our orders right! That's something we haven't experienced a lot of lately. I will start with we have loved this place for years!! It is a staple in this town, but after tonight's service it will be awhile before we go back. My husband even said about our waitress, "is she mad at us?" Maybe she was having an off night, or maybe she got some of those extra long thick eyelashes where they shouldn't be...but my goodness, the worst service with an even worse attitude! It was kind of noisy at first which was surprising since there were only a few groups in the area (maybe like 5?) and a bit more than I'd be expecting to pay for a lunch. I had some chimichangas that were basically 3 of them cut in half for appetizers and they were dripping when I'd bite into them that I was holding a napkin directly underneath so it wouldn't splash. My friend had a ceviche that tasted a little different than what we'd expect, for me had been overpowered by oregano. The margarita drinks were pretty good, but were 12$ each for regular sizes. The waitress was very kind and welcoming. The decor was beautiful. The vegetarian quesadilla has my mouth watering just thinking about it. Service was sweet and nice, perhaps new, but she found answers to questions she was unable to answer herself. They accommodated a gluten-free request with no issues. Lots of vegetarian options, and of course plenty of options for the carnivores in the world. I love mezcal and was bummed there was only 1 to choose from. The mango margarita was a little sweet to my guest's liking, needed some fresh lime, but hey that's just us. Fantastic service with great food. Nothing to go home and rave about but I will say it's one of the best michelada that I've tried in the areas. I sat next to the two most obnoxious people ever. The man was SO loud on his phone with f-bomb after f-bomb---while I'm trying to enjoy a night out for my son's birthday. We got to find out they are 'Mark & Elizabeth'. And Elizabeth can drop f-bombs in a public place, in almost as loud a voice as Mark. As a couple walked up they said 'Is that Madeleine? No, way too big.' Is there was a way that a family could enjoy dinner and not be stuck next to these horrible, rude people? How do I know that Mark has a RV & what he did with it? Geez, truly I hope these people do not leave their house again. No one going out should be subjected to loud, foul mouthed adults with no self control and apparently no ability to recognize there are other families around. He paid with his 'Gold card (not the silver)', he said. And followed it with he 'always gives a $20 tip... usually'. Really Mark & Elizabeth, you should be paying for all of our families' meals, people who finally got out for an enjoyable night out on a restaurant patio, and were instead subjected to your loud conversations & foul mouths. The waitress comes back with the bill and we got to hear him shout, "Wait! Go back & get my candy!" Multiple times. I wouldn't normally fault the restaurant for this obnoxious couple, but the waitress knew them, so we got to hear a few more personal stories. We had no ability to move away. I did bump the 1 Star to a 2 star, because I thought they were attentive. What a whack job pair of loud people, in a public place...probably with no clue how terrible they were being to not just my family, but two other families with young kids. It's hard to focus on restaurant food, drink & service, with this; however, enchiladas were a solid "good", two large bowls of tortilla soup were all chips and cheese. Not much else in the soup. The restaurant itself was cute. There are indoor and outdoor seating available. Came in with a party of 6 on a Tuesday at around 6p. About a 10 minute wait to be seated. The service is really slow. It must have been almost an hour wait to get our food. We got to the restaurant at 5:50p and left at around 8p. I got the Quesadilla Fajitas "Ajua." It was a good idea, but poorly executed (in my opinion). I think if the bell peppers and onions were a bit smaller, it wouldn't have overwhelmed the entire dish. The flavor of the chicken was good. I wish they used a different type of cheese and maybe added more cheese. The deep fried ice cream was good. Nothing special. I would go back to try it again, but the wait is way too long. read more
