I love these local Mexican/Tex mex food spots in Lompoc. I pass Taco Loco everyday on my way to work. The crew I'm traveling with have taken a liking to another restaurant around the corner. So today I decided to walk across the parking lot and hop the fence and walk over to taco loco. This restaurant is located in a strip mall. When you walk in there is a counter straight ahead and seating on both sides for about 16 people. One of the first things that I noticed when I walked in was there small self serve salsa bar. I walked to the counter and ordered their 2 beef enchilada combo with rice and beans. I got a bowl for some salsa and chips and took my seat. I got some of their mild salsa. There was a trough of salsa with a scoop in it. I was spooning it out like my life depended on it. Now the label on the salsa said that is was mild. Personally, I thought it had a skittle kick to it. Not so much kick that I didn't crush it! My enchiladas were on point and the meal it it's entirety was delicious. My meal was resonantly priced at $8.99. With that salsa bar and chips you could have charged me $13 and I would have been good. Not a bad spot to try is you are looking for a good Mexican restaurant. We were running errands in Lompoc recently and I was craving some Mexican food. I drive by Tori Loco often and was excited to give this place a try! They have a fair amount of seating inside and we were easily able to get a table on a weekend at lunch. You order at the counter but food is brought to your table. Chips and salsa are an extra cost, which is annoying, but we still ordered them. They have a salsa bar with different options to choose. The regular burrito was so good! I really liked the grilled chicken. Super flavorful. The staff working were really accommodating and parking is a breeze. I'll definitely be back! read more

The food is authentic Mexican food with lots to chose from. The shredded beef is juicy and flavorful and my husband loves the enchiladas and chorizo with eggs. Service is amazing and they have outdoor seating if you bring your dog. Quiet, quaint and delicious! read more

Everyone that works here is so warm and friendly. We LOVE their Chili Verde omelette, and you can order it all day!! Generous portions on everything we've ordered. I have been coming here for over 20 years. It's more of like a fast food Mexican place, but I really enjoy the food and would recommend trying it out. I really like their fish tacos the white sauce is amazing and always ask for extra! I know they have changed owners a few times, but for the most part the food has stayed the same. Although the Chile rellenos were plain, this time they had a sauce over it. Which I thought was a nice touch and I really liked. They have a variety on the menu and even serve breakfast! read more

Taco Loco is a counter service restaurant serving from-scratch, Mexican food. I am not sure if they are related to the previous Taco Loco #2/3 located here a couple years earlier, but this is a second restaurant to place the on W. central (Lompoc). This recently-opened location features a clean and remodeled dining room. They even have fresh tortilla chips complimented by a small salsa bar. The quick service won't keep you waiting very long, even during the mid-day lunch time. On both visits, I ordered the (lucky) #13 consisting of a beef burrito, rice/beans, and a fried taco which was hot, fresh, and authentically oily. If you're feeling indulgent, try the Xango (banana cheesecake filled pastry) desert; you will thank me later:) I recommend this place for lunch/dinner if your in the craving local Mexican food in a clean, divey atmosphere. read more

My family and I placed a to go order and picked up our food immediately. I had the Nacho and my parents ordered a carnitas burrito and a chimichanga. The nachos were disgusting and the cheese and sour cream were burnt. Both of my parents got food poisoning from their food. Stay away from these place. The only positive thing was the cashier. This is one of the better places to get your grub on if you are craving Mexican food. There isn't any special decor or ambiance but the food and service make up for it. It's pretty small inside so bringing a group might not be ideal but prices are fair and the food is pretty good. The menu is not very extensive which makes ordering easy. I'm sure all the available menu options are consistently great. I went with a small group of friends lately and there were no complaints. In comparison, by dinning here, you will probably spend 8 to 10 dollars instead of 20 dollars for the same quality you might get elsewhere. I search out good Mexican food with the dedication that is unrivaled. I found this little hole in the wall in Lompoc and simply can't eat there enough. The food is exceptional. I just HATE giving ANYBODY a bad review, especially a Mom & Pop place, but I have no choice but to relate my experience here. The food is fine, the portions good, the price is right. The service is dreadful. My friend and I were treated horribly there. My family used to be very regular customers, my brothers eat a LOT, we often got a lot of food to go, etc. In other words we spent a lot of money there, were quiet, polite and always left an immaculate table and area when we left. We have been putting up with dirty looks from the cook almost every time we went in there, and have no idea why. He just glares at us over that window to the kitchen every time we go in there. Finally had a blowup with him coming out of the kitchen and screaming at us because we asked for a serving of chips. One serving. There were no chips available, and they have great chips there, so good that I have bought bags of them to take home, and would have happily paid twice the price. He said we sat in there "too long", and that when we come, we take "chips and chips" because we take those tiny little paper boats back to refill sometimes four times between our entire family. Evidently, (though there is no rule or sign saying so) he feels that we should have no more than two tiny little paper boats of chips (amounting to perhaps 10 chips, tops) between three or four people, and it just went downhill from there. I offered to buy a bag of them if that was a problem and he kept screaming at me and shouting over me, finishing with "NOW you got it??" We are people in our 60's. We're quiet locals who enjoy dining out. We just looked at each other in shock as this man kept shouting at us (in front of other customers who were so uncomfortable that two of them got up and left in the middle of his tirade), then he tried to switch to Spanish to insult us to his employee (which I understood enough of to understand what was being said and it wasn't pretty), then returned to shouting at us some more because we "stay too long and take chips and chips". It's no skin off my nose, there are many restaurants here and in the surrounding areas and at least three much better Mexican restaurants which are run by people who weren't raised by Bigfoot. We are good customers, polite, quiet, regular and clean. No screaming kids throwing food and running around, no mess at the table, no use of profanity...none of that. And because we linger over our meal and take 3 or 4 tiny little paper boats of cold, icky chips form the self-serve tray to serve three or four of us, we got treated like trash. Will this post change how this man treats people? I doubt it, he's no kid and he clearly has probably been an abusive bully all his life, judging by his proficiency, his short fuse, and the way the women and young people in that place creep around trying to fly under the radar. Again, it's nothing off my nose; we'll just go to one of the many nice, friendly neighborhood places in town and enjoy the food and service there, and take this place off our list of places to eat. We like to patronize Mom & Pop businesses in general just to keep our economy healthy and will absolutely continue to do so. I have just been recommended to try Angela's, so we'll check that out next week some time. This won't be one of them. read more

This is fast food Mexican food. Pretty consistent with the taste. The shredded beef will taste the same in whatever item you put it in. The spicy salsa is one of the best spicy salsas I've had. I did notice it doesn't taste the same. Hopefully it's just temporary at this location. I just wish they would make fresh guacamole for your order. Small batches at a time would help!! read more

I on the other hand ordered the nachos. this was a mistake. they were soggy and were covered in nacho cheese that looked like they borrowed from the 711 across the street. This is a real Mexican place with tasty food, the sauce with the enchiladas was really good, and there are these little things like orange slices added to the plates that make a difference. I don't like the liquid cheese they put on nachos, neither does my son. They serve in reusable plastic plates but use throwaway forks and knives and styrofoam glasses, that's a bit sad. This is a taqueria with a good cheery atmosphere and not so great food. Cheap cuts of meat poorly seasoned cooked at the wrong temperature for the wrong length of time. Tortillas aren't fresh and come out of a plastic bag. All tomatoes came from a can or weren't ripe. Rice and beans were meh between a two and a three. The fresh jalapeños were good. read more
