We stopped at Solvang Brewing Company on our way down the coast for a much-needed drink and a late dinner. There was plenty of seating, even in the cool evening weather, making it a nice place to relax after a long drive. The food was good, and the drinks definitely hit the spot. One thing to know is that everything is ordered at the walk-up window rather than through table service. During our visit, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. A few of our orders were mixed up, our food came out at different times, and two bussers accidentally cleared plates that we were still eating from. To the restaurant's credit, they quickly apologized and replaced the food without any issue, which we appreciated. While the service hiccups were an inconvenience, the staff handled the situation professionally. I'm not a fan of a bad review and try to look at the highlights but this brewery was caught slipping. 5 employees on deck. Out of the 3 bartenders working, only one (a really knowledgeable guy that did his homework about the food and beer) was reliable. They have two bars and this woman at the larger bar took forever to serve us and it wasn't busy at all. When we got to her counter, she seemed annoyed and said that the Amber Beer we wanted wasn't served at her bar and we had to go to the smaller one down the walkway (the Amber was on her menu board, by the way). We got to the smaller bar where the smart guy was and he said he could get us the drink but needed to go to the larger bar we just came from because that's where the tap is. We told him what the woman said and he just shook his head and apologized. This adventure alone took a good 25 minutes. Next up, the food. We saw a sausage combo plate that a young female waitress was carrying and asked if they were different sausages, her reply was "No, All three are the same". We asked the only bartender we could trust and he said they were all different and described in detail what they were a the flavor profile. I thought the ambiance was nice and Danish but the beer and the combo plate was just ok. The owners need to do some remedial training with the staff and teach them how to not only speak with customers but to know what they are serving and where to get it. This was a great stop for our day trip to Solvang! Such an easy dining experience too if you are not too picky about an "elevated" dining experience, in which our case, we were just hungry and wanted something quick and easy to eat! You basically can just pick any open table they have (indoor and outdoor seating options, dog friendly!), order at the bar, and then your food is delivered to your table. It was a long day and things were starting to close. Looked for places to eat and saw that this place was open until 1am and got decent reviews on the food. So we figured why not. I'm sure glad we did. The food for "bar food" was easily above average. We ordered the sausage sampler and shared a BLT. I washed it down with a blood orange beer they had on tap. Went bar Hopping to watch Monday night football, Texans vs Steelers. Found this location for some drinks and snacks. Solvang brewery speaks for itself with assorted IPAs, Seltzers and beer. Kept ordering drinks all night. Ambiance was great. Reminded me of being in Europe, Denmark and Germany along with Mexican flavor added to it. This place had a good vibe. You need to get the tri-tip add-on on the large baked potato. The value here is insane -- the portion is huge, hearty, cheesy, and exactly as satisfying as it sounds. It was so good we came back the next day just to order it again. The tri-tip was flavorful and generous, making this one of the most filling items in town. The tomato soup was another standout: creamy, well-seasoned, and comforting without being heavy. We also tried the sausage platter. I enjoyed it overall (especially if you're a sausage fan), though the sausages themselves didn't particularly stand out. That said, the sides really carried it -- pretzels, sauerkraut, pickled onions, and dips were all solid and thoughtfully paired. Great lunch at Solvang Brewing Company, on a Wednesday afternoon. Food was excellent. The kids loved the chicken tenders. Fries were super yummy. Wings and wedge salad were also good. The drinks were average. The margarita my mom ordered was watery, not very good. The IPA and strawberry martini drink were okay. The atmosphere was laid back and the seating/ordering was easy. Service was friendly, but it was busy so we had to wait about 10 minutes in line to order. Watch out for the automatic 18% tip for parties of 6+ on your bill. They did not ask for our party size, and probably added it based on our food order. We were actually a party of five. I had to stop my aunt from giving an additional tip. Two friends and I stopped here during a coastal road trip from LA to SF. Two of us had been to Solvang. We decided to take a break from our walk to eat because it was close. The beer was good, and the service was decent, though they messed up my order and I had to wait for my food. All three of us got the bratwurst plate. The brats were decent, though not like the ones my wife from Wisconsin makes :-) The bread was odd though. It was way too chewy and rubbery than it should've been. The nice touch here is they have a great Beer Garden for a ton of outside seating. We started with Onion Rings and Mozzarella strips. Both were very tasty but I have to say the mozzarella sticks were gooey and perfect. We decided to go light with lunch after the appetizers and had the Southwestern Chicken salad. The meal was huge with a ton of succulent chicken. The dressing was good but I would recommend asking for extra BBQ sauce to give it that extra kick. They also have a great selection of home brews. Came to Buellton for my fiancé's family reunion and had to stop in Solvang for a bit. Haven't been here since I was a teenager. We stopped to grab some pastries and lunch before heading to the campground. We decided to stop by the Solvang Brewing Company for lunch. The outside is so nice with a bunch of covered seating, and of course a big windmill! We had to get a shot in front of it. Ordering is super easy, just walk up to one of the bar windows, place your order, they give you a number, and you find a place to sit inside or outside. We chose outside because the weather was perfect. We got a sausage sampler and 12 wings with 2 flavors. The sausage sampler was delicious with 3 types of sausage, 2 pieces of pretzel, sauerkraut, pickled red onion, some gherkins, and 2 sauces. The sausages were all delicious, but not super hot just warm enough. The spicy one was my fave. The sides were all good and we pretty much ate all of it. The sauces were good, one was a very spicy brown mustard, the other I THINK was a honey mustard. The wings were okay. They were cooked well and had a decent crunch, they also had a good amount of meat. We got half Buffalo and half Alabama White bbq. The bbq were drenched in sauce, too much in my opinion. It made the wings soggy and could barely taste the chicken. I'm not usually a fan of Buffalo sauce but the rub they put on the wings before the sauce made them very tasty. The food here is just bad. I wish I could give it a better review because I like the ambiance a lot. The big open air seating with the windmill above us was fun and the indoor area was very spacious and had a classic pub feel. I got a soft pretzel which was hard and tough and an elote with more tortilla chips than corn (which was drowning in sauce). I came here years ago and had a wonderful experience, but they have changed a lot of their policies it seems. You order up front and then while they do bring your food to you... the service stops there. If you ask any of the servers for anything they direct you to wear the items are located. For example they won't bring extra napkins or silverware and if you want to order additional drinks you need to get in line and complete another order. The food also came out almost too fast in my opinion? Our burgers & sandwiches came out within minutes, less than five, which makes me feel like the food isn't fresh. I think for the prices & the tip that they automatically add on to bills over $100 dollars the staff could be more helpful. This is a popular eatery on the main street in downtown Solvang. It's next to a giant windmill and offers outdoor and indoor seating. The area is larger than it looks at first glance. It was a bit difficult to figure out how to order. There's a sign indicating four steps including taking a menu, deciding on your order and then placing your order with a server or waiting to be seated or ordering from one of their two bars...it's confusing. Thankfully, I didn't follow the crowd and just go to the bar window but wandered around aimlessly with my daughter and a menu, and Chris, a server, kindly walked up to us and asked if we'd like to eat outside or inside. He was extremely helpful and we decided to eat indoors in the Viking Room. The Viking Room had a tv, mirrored walls, and beautiful wood tables. There was a mix of booths, round, square and rectangular tables. There was a bar and a digital jukebox playing songs. Chris was very attentive, checking on us and ordering our food promptly. We received our garlic parmesan fries and lemonades very quickly. We also ordered the caramel filled churro which was delicious. The food was a solid 4.5 but the service was a 5. Chris was great.
