*Brunch Review* We ordered shrimp cocktail, this was the best we have ever had. They were cleaned well and came with an amazing avocado shrimp cocktail sauce that was so good! It also came with fried crackers. I didn't like them, but my husband loved them. The french toast looked amazing, I will have to try next time. My husband got eggs Benedict. He loved it. The English muffins were house made, delicious sauce, thinly sliced ham, poached eggs perfectly cooked. I got fish and chips. The chips were malted wedge potatoes. It seemed like normal wedge potatoes, i didnt taste any malted flavor. The fish was rockfish. It was definitely fresh, really good, you could almost taste the sea. The batter was very very light and crunchy. They only thing I would say is it was a little oily. The tartar sauce was good, nothing unusual. There was a side of fresh greens, not cole slaw. They were very lightly dressed and exceptionally fresh, like just picked from someone's garden. If you love cole slaw you may be disappointed, if you love fresh greens you will be happy. My husband got a bloody Mary. It was quite tasty. Spicy and you could taste the horseradish. The olives were really good (I'm an olive lover). Coffee was excellent. Jared was our server and he was amazing. We had constant refills of our coffee and water from the staff. The patio was very nice and perfect for people watching. I loved the BTG wine list. We made reservations ahead of time for dinner at Coast Range and had a great overall experience. Upon arrival, we had the option of sitting inside or outside. The dining room was beautiful and would make a great date night spot with its quieter atmosphere, but it felt a little warm for our liking, so we chose to sit outside. The patio was comfortable, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the evening. We started with the grilled skirt steak, ordered medium rare, although it came out closer to medium well. Fortunately, the sesame-cilantro marinade and pickled vegetables brought plenty of flavor to the dish and made up for the temperature miss. For our entrée, we shared the Creekstone ribeye. We ordered it medium rare, but it arrived closer to medium. Despite that, the steak was still very tasty. We paired it with the glazed wild mushrooms, which ended up being my favorite item of the savory dishes, along with the Stuffed Shell "Mac n' Cheese." Everything arrived hot and was well prepared. We also ordered a few cocktails, which were okay but didn't stand out. A little more attention behind the bar would have elevated the experience even further. Halfway through dinner, I asked for Maldon sea salt for the steak, and the team happily accommodated the request, which was appreciated. The highlight of the night was easily the Brown Butter Brioche Donuts for dessert. Absolutely fantastic. Soft, rich, and packed with flavor. They were the perfect way to end the meal and the one dish I'd tell everyone to order. Brunch at Coast Range completely lived up to the hype and honestly, this place deserves every bit of its Michelin recognition. The food feels thoughtful without trying too hard, and every dish had so much flavor packed into it. The Crispy Pork Belly Sandwich was the standout for me. The gochujang Coca Cola glaze gave it that perfect sweet and savory balance, while the snap pea slaw added freshness and crunch. And somehow the brown butter cashew butter tied everything together in the best way possible. The Wagyu Pastrami Sandwich was just as memorable, rich, juicy, and super satisfying. The Swiss cheese, horseradish cream, sauerkraut aioli, and beef jus all worked so well together without overpowering the wagyu. My family and I checked out Coast Range for dinner on our first night in Solvang. We were really impressed by the Michelin Star stickers in the window for the last 4 years - that had to mean something! We were seated right away as we had arrived a few minutes after they opened. The inside was dark, but cozy. For drinks, I ordered the Vaquero Martini which was pretty good and my husband ordered an Old Fashioned - we thought it was very strange that it came in a glass with a bunch of ice instead of a giant cube or sphere. The food items were a bit pricy so my husband and I decided to split some appetizers - Artichokes, French Onion Soup and the Skirt Steak. We ordered the Kids Bolognese Pasta which our daughter loved - I wish my husband and I could have said the same thing about what we ordered. I did enjoy the French Onion Soup the best, but we have made much better artichokes at home and the skirt steak was barely seasoned. Overall, staff were very friendly, but the food was not worth the price point at all in our opinion. Everything was honestly mid - we had high hopes considering all of the Michelin Star recognitions. I know we only ordered appetizers, but we thought it would have given us a little taste of everything. My sister and I went to Solvang for the weekend. There's not many places open late lucky for us Coast Range was open. The restaurant gives you a little bit of back in the day feel along with a bit of luxury. We ordered the beef stroganoff and rigatoni. Both were delicious, however my favorite out of the two was the rigatoni. We got sparkling water as I was driving. They have a fill bar and wine list. We were so full but wanted to try dessert. This was the perfect end to a perfect day! Upon entering the restaurant, we were happily greeted by the maître-d', Chelsea, who gladly saw us to our table, as we were a bit early for our reservations. Our server Liz, was most accommodating with our every request throughout our entire dining experience. The energy was relaxing and casual, with everyone enjoying the cozy atmosphere. My wife and I decided our selections quickly. Our appetizers were the Blackened Scallops and the Caesar's Salad, which we both shared. Our scallops were served tender, yet lightly firm while touching the Dijon based creme accompaniment, adding just the right tangy bite to each morsel. Wifey's Stroganoff was loaded with tender, juicy pieces of Wagyu beef and noodles prepared al dente and amply provided with a thick sauce that endeavored gentle horseradish notes to the palate. Leaving the best for last, my Miso Cod was absolute perfection, as it was generously flavoured with a light, black garlic oil, shiitake mushrooms, and a beautifully sweet glaze, matched only by its flaky texture and consistency that melted with every succulent bite. Our dessert consisted of a small bundtlet date cake accentuated with a sweet caramel toffee sauce laid on a bed of toffee pieces and matched with a scoop of creamy vanilla gelato brought together to assemble sweet dreams of toffee goodness. Looking for a dog-friendly restaurant with cocktails close to our hotel after a drive up from Pasadena. Coast Range seemed to check all the boxes, and they had an available reservation on the patio. We got (for us) the perfect table, which was a small area next to the entrance. Actually only our table, which was great for containing our puppy, plus a heat lamp and service over the pony wall which worked out great! We started with delicious cold, crisp martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives and a bowl of water for our pup. Our server (Chelsea B?) was so fun and friendly! We then had maybe the best wedge salad we've ever had! I think the lettuce was cut to, but not thru, the base, and opened up, with toppings inside. Roasted beet cubes, bacon, blue cheese and shallots, plus cherry tomatoes, hard boiled egg quarters and fried shallots garnish. It was incredible. I think they should call it "More than a Wedge." We also had the Ahi crudo, which had a delicious sauce and thinly sliced peppers. I wasn't too hungry, so had the French onion soup as my main course. So, it definitely didn't taste anything like French onion soup! It looked like it, and it was definitely cooked down onions but the flavor wasn't anything like I'd expect. However, it was really delicious and satisfied my craving for something warm & cheesy. So if you go in knowing that, I think you'll enjoy it. I don't like lamb, so my husband often gets it when we go out. When he took his first bite, I could tell he enjoyed it. He said it was some of the best lamb he's had and he's had a lot! It's à la carte, but did come with a tiny bit of salad and a roasted pepper which he thought was perfect. I was really looking forward to eating here based on good reviews and Michelin star rating. It was a total let down. First, I want to say service was great. The rating is for the food. We ordered half a dozen oysters and the potato pierogies as our starters. I know oysters come in all sizes, but to be charging $32 for the oysters we were served is crazy. We order oysters often and have never seen oysters as small as the ones we were served. Didn't ask where they were from, and didn't get a picture, but you probably wouldn't be able to see them in the photo anyway because they were so tiny. The pierogies tasted like they came frozen and were reheated in the microwave. For our main dish, we ordered the cod and a side of asparagus. The asparagus was tasty, so you could say that was the best thing we ordered. The cod was tasteless and the sides it was served on (no idea what all was on the plate) were hard and cold. They also only offer gender neutral bathrooms which require cleaning on a regular basis throughout the night and that clearly wasn't happening. They were disgusting. Not what I would expect from a restaurant with their prices. I would not recommend this restaurant. This meal was not worth the $200 we spent. We had better fish and chips at Fitzpatrick's Tavern down the street. Try them and save yourself $150. read more

When my friend and I first walked in, we were enthusiastically greeted by the Hostess who was at the front desk that proudly had the Michelin Stars on display. We had a reservation, since it was a Friday night, and I was shocked that this place wasn't completely packed with people (they DO have a nice patio, and there were a lot of people out there). The vibe and decor is what I would describe as "Classy Western". Sort of Wild West, but a bit more upscale than traditional western-style restaurants. Ciana was our server, and could not have been any more delightful! She took great care of us. And as an added bonus, she was able to tell us not only about the menu items, but could also recommend certain wines to pair with them. We could tell she wasn't just throwing suggestions out there; she knew her stuff! By the way - the wine list in incredible (quite extensive with key regions and varietals represented)! My friend and I both had the Chicken Cordon Bleu, which came with a small "pot" of some of the most incredible mashed potatoes I have ever had. The entree was just melt-in-your-mouth fantastic, and the sauce just tied everything together so well. Perfect balance of chicken, breading, cheese, and ham. For dessert, my friend got the donuts (two generous-sized, by the way, so this could easily be shared), which are dipped in a brown-butter glaze that will change your life! I opted for the apple tart, which was fantastic (and could be shared, but is also proportionate for one person). This is Michelin-Star dining at what I would consider to be a reasonable price; especially for the quality of food and service we received. We didn't have a reservation so they couldn't seat us inside but gave us a spot outside and turned on the heaters since it was drizzly. Our server was very nice and accommodating. We have a gluten free kid and she was able to check with chef and get something that worked. Overall great food presentation. Flavors were yummy but not mind blowing. I was honestly surprised (in the best way) that a Michelin Guide restaurant would be so welcoming and allow us to bring our dog. That level of hospitality really stood out. I visited Coast Range during a last-minute Valentine's Day trip to Solvang. After reading the glowing reviews and knowing the restaurant holds a Michelin star, I expected an elevated dining experience--not just in food, but in service. Unfortunately, the service fell far short of a Michelin star standard. Upon arrival, I approached the male host to ask if they were accepting walk-ins. Without making eye contact, he abruptly told me that only bar seating was available. I thanked him, and he responded with a dismissive "uh huh." Not exactly a warm welcome. We proceeded to the bar around 5:30 p.m., roughly 30 minutes after opening. The bar area is small, seating about 14 guests, and it was full with two bartenders working. After sitting for five minutes, no one greeted us. One member of my party eventually had to walk up to a bartender to request menus. She told us she would bring drink menus shortly and gave us the food menu. After reviewing the food menu, we waited another five minutes--still no water, no check-in, no acknowledgment. I made eye contact with the second male bartender, who simply stared back without saying a word. We continued waiting while watching other guests receive attentive service, drinks, and food. Eventually, we approached the same lady bartender again to ask if we could order. Her response was, "You're ready?"--which was surprising given that she had previously said she would come to us. During the time we were waiting, I observed her making drinks, chatting with other guests, and even taking a moment to use her phone to adjust the bar's music when it went quiet. Yet we remained unacknowledged in the corner. When she finally came over to take our order, there was no apology for the delay, no introduction, and no thank you for waiting. Basic courtesies that are expected at any restaurant--especially one with a Michelin distinction--were absent. Our food eventually arrived, and only then were we brought water. By that point, we were simply ready to eat and leave. While waiting for the check, a new party of two sat at the bar, and I watched as the same lady bartender warmly greeted them and promptly offered menus. The contrast in service was difficult to ignore. Even if we did not have a reservation, we were still paying customers and expected to be treated with professionalism and courtesy. The host was simultaneously seating guests on the patio, which made the initial dismissal even more confusing given that reviews describe the restaurant as accommodating to walk-ins with a wait. I rarely write reviews unless the experience is exceptional--either positively or negatively. While the food was decent, I struggle to understand the Michelin recognition based on this visit. Service is a fundamental part of fine dining, and unfortunately, this experience put a damper on what was meant to be a special evening. It was busy when we arrived, but even as the night went on and there were less people, it still took an hour and a half to receive our entrees. My dad literally sobered up during our dinner even after a bottle of wine - we spent a lot of time waiting at the restaurant, whether it was to order, get plates cleared, or get water. Food-wise, it was decent but not Michelin quality. We had the crispy mozzarella arugula salad and crispy rice spicy tuna to start. The spicy tuna was not spicy but the crispy rice had a nice texture. The salad was well dressed and the mozzarella with mortadella was a good offset to the bitterness of the arugula. I split the rib eye with my boyfriend and ordered medium rare, but certain parts were cooked medium well. I think the steak rested too long underneath the heat lamp, because my mom's filet mignon was supposed to be medium, but seemed more well done. They do have French fries (not on the menu); we had mushrooms on the side but those arrived a bit cold. We ended with the brownie sundae, which was my favorite part of the meal. To their credit, the chef gave us a 10% discount for waiting so long for our meal. We appreciated the gesture very much. A table for 6 was already set but another table added to make 8. A big group it seemed like. But still some tables open and people are waiting. 15 minutes later, they moved one of the tables back and we texted to let us know our table was ready. And guess where we were seated, the table they moved back. Anyways.... Menu, it was pretty much basic. I believe it's the same as breakfast/brunch. Not a lot to choose from. Oh, as we were waiting earlier, trying to get a drink at the bar was non existent. Service was so slow that we gave up. Once we were seated, we ordered a beer and an ice tea. Minutes later, we ordered our meal. Fried chicken sandwich, pastrami sandwich and a side order or fries. Food came pretty fast but drinks still hadn't come out yet. A beer and ice tea, nothing major but it took forever to come even after our food. Sandwich was ok, but side order of fries was basically like a handful on a plate with ketchup. Very disappointing. The sandwiches were à la carte which we didn't know. Good thing we order the sprinkle of fries. And a side order of patty for the pup which was about 9.00. Service wasn't really good this visit. Our waiter was sweet at least. I don't know if they're short staff or not equipped for holiday rush but it wasn't nice. The whole time throughout our meal, not once did I get a refill on the drink even when he asked me if I wanted one. And when they brought out the food, asked for a side or ranch which they didn't have but was offered an aioli sauce. Did that come out, nope. This visit was just not up to par from the great experience prior. Plus there was dog that belong to the staff which we found out. We saw the recommendation on an Instagram reel, the Michelin Guide rating, and the unique and flavorful appetizer selection and were excited to try but were left wanting, especially given the final price. I think whoever designed the menu had only read about multinational cuisine in recipe cards but had never actually tasted any of it themselves (or their taste buds were knocked out by covid). Case in point: - The crispy rice ahi tuna appetizer had a fun texture of crispy rice layered with raw tuna but it tasted like somebody had poured, and I mean poured, straight soy sauce on top. It was so salty, even for someone with a high salt tolerance. But the biggest annoyance was how one-note the sauce was - it could have been so much more complex with the addition of some citrus or something - The crispy pork belly appetizer was again just straight doused in gochujang - way too salty to be edible without rice but again so one-note. You'd think a Michelin guide restaurant would know how make a sauce with more than one ingredient? - The skirt steak appetizer had fine meat but the pickled vegetables on the side weren't even pickled. It was just straight cucumber - The big shell Mac and cheese was a cute idea of 4 large shells filled with cheese sauce but the oiled used to cook the dish was old and distracted from the cheese taste - The caesar salad was the one good we ordered as it should be. In addition to the poor flavors, I have to comment on the poor service of the restaurant. I'm not always a heckler for service but for this price I have to call out some indignities. With a reservation we were seated outside on the patio in the freezing cold but it took so long for someone to come out and give us water or turn on the patio heater. Like noticeably long. We ate at Coast Range for our NYE dinner while staying in Solvang, and the ambiance was definitely the highlight. The decor is beautiful with vintage European vibes--cozy booths, elegant, and perfect for a special night. Our server was super sweet too. We started with the tuna crispy rice (so good) and the blackened scallops. Unfortunately, the scallops were very salty. We rarely send food back, but they were inedible. The staff was kind and brought out a new order, though it was still pretty salty (possibly the pan). For mains, the NY steak came out medium instead of medium rare, the lobster tail was average, and the glazed mushrooms were also on the salty side. The shallot demi-glaze we ordered on the side was actually pretty good. Dessert saved the night. The sticky toffee pudding was good but very sweet, and the Toastie Coastie was delicious. We stumbled on this place while walking around Solvang during December so all the Christmas lights and decorations were up and this place was very inviting. Didn't even bother to check reviews, just decided to try it. They were booked out so we managed to sit at the bar (which was just as nice). They played country music and they were ALL hits. We ordered the skirt steak, scallops, spicy tuna on crispy rice, and french onion soup (all starters on the menu) and it was so yummy I didn't even manage to take a picture of it unfortunately because I was so caught up on the amazing atmosphere. The food choices were recommended by the bartender and they did not disappoint. AMAZING! So yummy. I also got a holiday drink (peppermint espresso martini ultimately), and this was phenomenal. I was really disappointed with this restaurant. The host put down my number wrong so my reservation was later than expected. The decor was pretty cool. It had an old steakhouse vibe with a splash of elegance. The food was what I was really disappointed in. With all the Michelin Guide accolades I was expecting the food to be above average. For a Steakhouse, they did not have prime cuts. The 16oz ribeye I ordered was chewy and overcooked (I wanted it rare but it came out medium). The Artichoke barely had any "artichoke meat." The Bone Marrow a weird tangy flavor to it. I did like their Brioche Donuts. It was salty, sweet, and buttery soft. However, it may be a little too sweet. read more

Stopped over for brunch around noon. Got seated relatively quickly. Restaurant seemed mostly empty. Ordered an eggs Benedict, a side of fries, an espresso and an orange juice. Food was ok but service was really bad. The eggs Benedict arrived but no espresso and no orange juice. Asked the waiter about the drinks and side of fries, apparently they had dropped off the drinks at the wrong table and had to remake the drink order. Awhile passed and espresso and orange juice arrived. Asked about our side of fries...they had forgot and were making it still. Finished up eggs Benedict, the fries still didn't arrive so asked for check. They had the audacity to leave the fries on the bill on first review. What happened to the Michelin starred Beef Stroganoff?? As a local involved with the public on a daily basis who ask for dining recommendations...I always include you. I actually recommended you to some business owners in LA today for the stroganoff. Tonight was the first time in a while that we picked up the stroganoff for dinner. There was absolutely no horseradish kick...the sauce was way too sweet. What I thought was horseradish bits was actually curdled sour cream and the noodles were way overcooked and extremely limp. The beef was amazing & super tender, but I really missed the kick that earned you the star. My husband walked in to order this dish and had a cocktail. $50 for the dish and his bill was $70+ for one to go entree and one cocktail. This should have been exceptional. Not mediocre. Even more interesting is that the good reviews get responses, but I haven't seen a single response to any of the critical reviews from the manager. We are in Solvang every year in February and spend a lot of time at Vaquero the bar attached to Coast Range which I have also reviewed. This was our first year eating at coast Range and the food was fantastic. I had the New York strip with demi glaze and it was cooked perfectly, the wedge salad was also great, and I should have not ordered toe large shell mac and cheese simply because it was way too much food but I am glad I didn't it is fantastic and filling the ricotta was so creamy and the shells cooked just above right. The pork chop my partner had was the biggest I have ever seen. Service was great we arrived early and they were able to seat us right away and the server was very attentive always there when drinks needed refreshing. Worth a visit if you're looking for a fine place to dine. read more

Came to Coast Range for a dinner reservation on Dec 31 and had an amazing experience. We arrived early due to rain and parking concerns, and the staff was very accommodating and welcoming. The place itself is beautiful--great ambiance and interior design. It is pretty dim inside, which gave me a slight headache while adjusting, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. Our server Shelby was fantastic--super sweet, attentive, and answered all our questions with a smile. We started with the crispy pork belly, and honestly... best pork belly we've had. Perfectly crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. As Filipinos, we know our pork belly, and this one reminded us of a Kare-Kare-style peanut sauce--so good. For mains, we shared the NY strip and beef stroganoff. Portions were generous for the price. The stroganoff actually had a noticeable red wine reduction (rare these days!) and was absolutely legit. The steak was cooked perfectly--tender all the way through with flaky salt on top. For dessert, we went with the tiramisu (huge fans), and it did not disappoint. The pistachio inside really elevated it. Would 100% come back every time we're in Solvang and bring family and friends. Highly recommend. read more

Yum. Came for dinner after grabbing a reservation. We were craving stake and potatoes and we got it. Steaks were prepared to our liking. We enjoyed our cocktails with our food as well. Servers were nice. The best were the donuts for dessert!! I'd come back even for just that. The outdoor seating looked nice but we were cold so chose to sit inside in a cozy booth. The pierogies are a must try and comes with 4. The mac and cheese was super yummy and the steak was definitely made to the temperature we wanted.
