When you are expected to pay these prices a guest should be comfortable. Ciena and her assistants provided good service. As for the food it was good. This was a second visit to Coast Range! We had to come back here as it's been on my mind ever since our first visit. I made a reservation online for 5:30pm in their dining room. There wasn't anything else available until 8:30 for the dining room. Once I arrived we were one of the first people there but it seemed like the staff were still getting things ready for dinner service. We were shown our table, I love the booth and decor. During our last visit, we enjoyed the bone marrow and steak tartare. Unfortunately, both of those dishes were unavailable/out of season. I was a bit disappointed since the steak tartare was a favorite of mine, however, we opted for the fritto misto, oysters, and Caesar salad; all of which were just as amazing and delicious. For the entree we chose to share the 20oz rib eye. Let me tell you this was one of the best rib eye steaks I've ever had! It has a good mix of fat and meat and so much flavor! I absolutely loved this place! There is casual seating available outside on the patio and the dining area inside is gorgeous, perfect dinner vibes. They also have a bar if you just want to grab a drink. Another huge perk is they are not only dog friendly, they are dog lovers! Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating to me and my dog Charli. The food here was amazing, from start to finish, I enjoyed every dish. This chef is talented and understands how to create a menu that would make anyone happy. To start, we enjoyed the crab cake, it was topped by a homemade shrimp chip that elevated the dish to another level. Next was the tuna on crispy rice, another mouth watering dish prepared with a homemade sauce that was tangy, savory and sweet, it was perfectly balanced. For my entree I ordered the tuna lion and it also is accompanied by a homemade sauce that was so good, I seriously could have poured it on everything. The tuna was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. They also have a wonderfully cultivated wine list that would pair beautifully with any dish you order. Disappointing Experience with Poor Communication: From the start, the reception felt cold and unwelcoming. The 3 hostesses offered what seemed like forced smiles, setting a tone that didn't feel genuine. I requested to be added to the waitlist for a table for 9, somewhere between 12:00-12:30 pm. This was around 10:40 am. At 11:00 am, we returned and let the hostess know we were available to be seated anytime and asked to cancel the 12-12:30 window. She took my name and number again, and we left expecting a call when our table was ready. An hour passed, no call. We returned to check in, only to be told bluntly, "I don't think we can accommodate you." I explained that we would've appreciated a heads-up, either when we first joined the waitlist or at least a call letting us know we wouldn't be seated. That way, we could have made other plans. The hostess apologized, but by then the damage was done. The lack of clear communication and basic courtesy was disappointing. For a place that seems to value its image, this experience fell far short of expectations. read more

Everything here is a la carte. I ordered the house chopped salad, it was big enough to split with my friend and the dressing was a home-made blue cheese, so good! The pierogis were served with apple butter, which was kind of unusual. It was a good twist. The baked potato was good and served with all the fixings. Our waitress was friendly and our water glasses were kept full. There was the cutest basset hound at the entrance that got our attention. When we left he had a coat on. I have to make it clear that 3 stars is good not great. Service was good. Seated quickly and given water right away. Drink orders came out fast and they took our order in a timely fashion. It was dead when we went for lunch but the food I'd say came out in a good time, slightly longer but not by much. Once we got our food, we got followed up on frequently and always had water. No issue with service, I'd give it a 4. The ambience is good, booths are good size and the place has a good feel. Steak tartare- this is the biggest reason why I gave this place a 3. Presentation was ok but I have to say, what does that smear and drops look like? Outside of that I must say I didn't get much flavor out of whatever it was. The meat could've been cut a little better, there was zero acid and genuinely only tasted the onion and/or garlic. Based on that experience, I could not recommend this. Luckily the oysters came with a lemon otherwise I likely leave this dish alone. Oysters- fresh, big and the sauces were pretty good. No issues with the oysters, really enjoyed them, a solid 4. I did have a cup of coffee as well and that was fine. My overall rating comes down to the pricing to quality, just didn't quite match up. I do have to mention that my wife's first crudo bite had either a bone, seeds or some other hard piece of food. It was the only piece but really hard off the first bite. read more

It was midday on a weekday and after a couple hours of visiting shops we were bordering on hangry and decided to try this place. The interior has a fancy, retro style vibe which I found very cool. We sat in a booth and I ordered eggs benedict from the brunch menu. Our waitress, while not exactly Miss Sparkles & Charm, was very efficient. The eggs benedict was incredible. The eggs were done perfectly and the hollandaise sauce - a tomato hollandaise - had a different taste than the usual but I found it to be superior. The menu claimed this dish had a "house ham" but to me it looked & tasted like a thin slice of beef - a delicious piece of meat regardless. We ate at Coast Range twice during our 4 day visit. Both times we loved the food. We had the grilled salmon and the Sea Bass or (Halibut.) Amazing drinks from the Vaquero Bar as well. It's a fun and cozy welcoming atmosphere. The second night we ordered the caviar and Caesar salad, soup du jour and a pasta dish. The Apple pie for dessert. We were blown away both times and we had a little visitor named Gus our little dog fell In love with. We will be back soon. read more

We were looking for a place to relax have dinner and they were booked for dinner so we opted for sitting in the bar. Not a problem for us as we are 3 adult men. We sat at the bar and the bartender was helping other guests so we waited. When he was able to come over I asked "can we see a food menu", his response "yeah but I want to know what you are drinking" in a very rude dismissive tone. It was jarring on how rude he was, but played it off as they were busy. As soon as he took our drink orders he started talking to other guests and was really friendly. Still I dismissed it. When we were ready to order a very nice female bartender came and took our order (she was great!). Later after waiting awhile to get another drink noticed he was leaning on the bar watching the Rams game. He finally glanced over and I raised my hand to get his attention, he came over, and I ordered another. His response "huh"and turned away and made our drinks. I was still willing to give him the benefit of doubt, but then helped the couple next to us and was very nice to them. Not sure what his problem is but would not recommend this place unless they can hire people that can at least be somewhat respectful. Ironically this is what is posted behind the bar (photo). Such amazing vibes in this place! Our server Chelsea was so amazing she really made our anniversary feel so special!! We came in very hungry and very excited to try everything!! The oysters were so fresh and the mignonette was great! The tuna crispy rice was so perfectly crispy! The tuna crudo was so fresh and the ponzu paired so well with it. The bone marrow was probably our favorite appetizer, it's very rare a restaurant has it and it was cooked so perfectly, served w crispy bread and a meat jam which was so yummy!! The scallops we paired with our steaks and they were cooked to perfection- seared beautifully! The filet and ribeye both melted in our mouths are were perfectly prepared. I ended the night with a few bites of the tirimisu which was such a great way to end our night!! We stopped by Coast Range for dinner, we didn't have reservations but they still sat us quickly. My husband and I got the filet mignon and smoked and grilled half chicken, both were delicious! For drinks we got the smoke and wine sour and the medicine man mule which were also amazing! Our server was Sienna and she was the best, highly recommend sitting in her area. We sat outside since we had our dog and enjoyed the ambiance as the connected bar provided fun background noise and the lighting and warmers were cute. This place has all the potential to be a great restaurant. The atmosphere and various seating areas are all great spaces. We wanted to sit inside in their cozy booth area but it was a bit warm and stuffy inside so we opted for the street side patio under the trellis. It was a little windy and cold out but the heaters did a good job warming us up. Moving on to the food. Here's where they fall a bit short for the price point. Grilled Bone Marrow - pickled shallots vinaigrette, red onion jam, grilled bread - it had a extra thick burnt crust and was a little too over salted for my liking. The weirdest thing is the all the expected gooey marrow didn't have all that melty fat and oozy qualities one would expect, especially since it had so much char. The bread was also a tad over charred and roughed the inside of my mouth up. The red onion jam was delicious. Potato Pierogies - peach butter, sour cream espuma, pecorino cheese - this was good! They had a fantastic crunchy shell and all the flavors worked well together. Tapioca Crusted Snapper - sushi rice cake, white soy vinaigrette, charred broccoli rabe - I loved the tapioca crust idea, it gave great texture and was really good for soaking and holding the vinaigrette flavor. The vinaigrette was a little too acidic for me but it was easily solved, I just didn't dip and swish my bite as much. The crispy rice was a nice touch. Big Shell Mac n' Cheese - sheeps' milk ricotta, comté mornay - this was the star of the meal, they was 4 giant shells filled with a nice cheesy filling. The flavors were really Good, the chef hit it out of the park. Creekstone bone-in prime ribeye - I think we got the ribeye, see the photo but this was over a month ago so I don't exactly remember. We order medium rare and got medium. It was a bit disappointing since this seems like it should be their "thing". That's the end of my steak story. Service was great, our waitress was nice and came back amply to check on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We found an open spot in the back of their tiny parking lot. I suspect there's a lot of street parking ebb and flow that doesn't make parking too atrocious in Solvang. read more

This cozy restaurant is right in downtown Solvang and quickly became my boyfriend and I's favorite spot in this cute little town. We came here after hearing from some friends who went during the month of December- we went the week of Christmas and the end of January. The vibes of the restaurant is pretty similar to House of Prime Rib: moody, romantic, and in a way elegant? The first time we came here, we didn't have a reservation (our fault since we came to Solvang on a whim) and it was a Saturday around 5pm. The hostess was super kind and was able to put us on the waitlist which was about an hour. With that hour to kill, we got to enjoy a stroll through downtown and check out the MANY different stores. We got seated within 45 minutes and our waitress was incredibly kind & patient with us. She recommended the mussel dish- who knew mussels & chorizo would taste so good together?! We both got the dry aged ribeyes and they were cooked perfectly at a medium I didn't care much for the salad that came with the steaks, but the asparagus and Brussels sprouts were delicious.
