Probably the cutest cupcakes and cakes that we saw here. Friendly service. Small but well stocked selection that was fresh!

Staff? So kind! Inside? SO CUTE!! Outside? Even cuter being pink! Bakery good? I got the lemon bar and it was so good!!!!! The level of lemon and zest in the piece I got was delicious and worth the $4 I paid! Parking can be limited if it's a busy day, right outside of shop but it was pouring rain when we went so we got front parking. Restroom is closed to patrons so we had to walk about a block to go to the public restroom, but they were really clean!

Solvang Bakery is seriously the cutest spot ever. The inside is so visually aesthetic: everything has this adorable pink theme that makes it feel warm, cozy, and picture-perfect. It's one of those places where you walk in and immediately want to take photos because it's just that cute. The service was so nice and welcoming too. They were patient, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. We got the strawberry cheese danish and it was sooo yummy. The filling was creamy and smooth, perfectly sweet but not overpowering. The strawberry on top added a fresh, slightly tangy balance that made every bite so good. The pastry itself was flaky, buttery, and soft in the center, you can tell it's made fresh. Overall such a sweet little bakery with great vibes and even better pastries. Definitely would come back.

Came for an Easter theme cookie for my toddler. I was amazed by how much easter decorations they had on display. They usually have a theme for the season. There are many bakeries on Solvang but I seem to always be drawn here. It was not busy when I came so my daughter was able to order the cookie she wanted pretty quickly. If your in the area to stay or passing through, check out this cute little bakery.

This is a must stop anytime I'm in Solvang. I always load up on pastries to take back home with me. The store is super cute! Service is attentive and quick.

I've been visiting Solvang bakery for more than a decade and the quality is consistently good. During the holidays, the interior transforms to a storybook dream as it's filled with abundant styles and sizes of gingerbread houses and treats that are both cute and tasty. I purchased a dozen gingerbread people cookies and they were still tasty a week later. The bakery gets extra busy during the holidays but the staff keep the line moving efficiently.

Everything was delicious. There was a long line, but it went pretty fast. We got a regular croissant, a kringle (so delicious with that almond filling!), and a big shareable apple cinnamon bread (similar to a gooey monkey pull apart bread), bringing our total to $21. The kids loved the animatronic bunny outside.

Cute shop! A variety of baked goods and little Knick knacks. Cheese danish- 5/10 Gingerbread man - 2/10 (according to my sister. Couldn't taste the spices of a traditional gingerbread man. Stale) Brownie- 7/10 my niece said it was good although there was too much frosting on it) Wicked sugar cookie - 5/10 nothing special. Cute printed cookie. Eclaire - 8/10 (according to my mom) she said it was good. Would buy it again when she's around town. Service was fine. Not too friendly nor rude.

I like the Sarah Bernhart cookies here the best. It's got a good almond cookie base, small ganache and chocolate top. Just the right balance, nothing over powering other parts. Also has apple strudle for breakfast, they can warm it up for you if you like. I saw small birthday cakes, great when you only need it for 2 or 3 people, as opposed to getting a giant 8 inch cake. I want to go back and try more. Service was great, they answered all my quetions and was able to provide shelf life for all the items.

The cutest little bakery with charm and old school feel. The inside boasts lots of fun gift items! ...and is just lovely! The outside reminds me of the perfect bakery! Service is swift and friendly! We got quite a few Danish but ate them in the car all i had left was a strawberry cake

This bakery is located in heart of the Solvang. They sell a variety of baked goods. They also have different kinds of danish goods to choose from. They have hot and cold drinks too. They also sell packaged cakes, gummies and candy too. For ambiance this is a little bakery . There are couple of tables outside. It is better to order and leave since there might be enough tables. For service, the ladies helping customers was nice and friendly. No complaints about the customer service. P.S I would suggest going to this bakery when you're hungry since there are so many yummy pastries. lol

We have been trying to come here for every trip to Solvang!!! We finally succeeded! It definitely did not disappoint! You approach a candy wonderland with a community bistro vibe. Everyone was just greeting each other, and we made friends while in line! The bakery itself smells so yummy and filled with so much deliciousness! I wanted one of everything! Luckily, we had the regulars share some secrets! We ordered a KRINGLE, LEMON BAR, LEMON DANISH, CHEESE DANISH, STRAWBERRY CHEESE DANISH, BEAR CLAW and a GINGERBREAD MAN. OMG!!! My family bakes, so when I say these are blessings from Santa's own magical oven, I mean it! The lemon bar was demolished by my hubby (lemon anything connoisseur) ... He liked the lemon Danish too but loved the bars! I cut a piece of the strawberry cheese Danish, and good gracious! Not too sweet and the combo of fresh strawberry jam and cheese on a flaky crust was heavenly. Didn't stop there! Tore into my Kringle, and the light flakiness with the perfect filling of custard, cinnamon, nutty flavor with a hint of magic went perfectly with my cafe sua (hot Viet coffee). The cheese Danish was perfectly creamy and not too sweet. Loved it!! The BEAR CLAW is waiting for my hubby...I stole a small piece! Crispy, lightly sweet with cinnamon and yummy! Don't tell him! They forgot to pack the gingerbread man, so we called and they put one aside for us!!! I can't wait to taste that yumminess. The service and bubbly personality of Bree and Barbara put everything over the top! That whole bakery is a welcoming community feel! Definitely coming back for the pumpkin bread and other goodies to taste!

Thoughts: I must admit that I'm not a bread person. The only reason I went here is that I had to take some tourists around. Solvang was a pretty obvious stop to make, and we found ourselves in Olsen's. I'm a believer of nailing the simple things, because you won't be able to hide it in fluff. What I liked about Olsen's bread is that they taste home made. The flavors taste exactly like what you asked for, and they don't have those added chemicals that certain establishments use to make the flavors "pop out". The bread was flaky, chewy, and an overall joy to consume. Ambiance: The tables and chairs had a cafe vibe (which is what the place is). It's clean, the bakery smelled great, and the high foot traffic means that the turnaround keeps the food fresh. Service: Straightforward. Pick your bread, ask your questions, and the staff will ring you up after getting what you asked for.

Take a look at my photos first--the cake and the bill just didn't match. I ordered three items (two…read morecakes and a coffee), but the receipt only listed two, and they weren't even the items I had. I checked the menu and realized the bill was actually for less than I should have paid; it was likely mixed up with the customer sitting next to me, who I remember had ordered a Napoleon. Looking at the prices later, I found the menu quite strange: the Chocolate Eclair is $11.95, while the Napoleon is a dollar less. Anyone who has ever made both will admit that an eclair is much easier to prepare than a Napoleon--in fact, an eclair might be the easiest item in a bakery. It's an interesting pricing choice. This bakery must be very famous; even the AI I used to plan my trip from Pasadena to San Jose recommended it. Since it isn't peak season, I easily found a parking spot on the main street, which was a relief compared to ten years ago when I had to drive in circles to find one. Even in the off-season, there was still a line--not too long, but a line nonetheless. The pastries in the case were all beautifully made and looked delicious. It was difficult to decide, but I eventually chose a Chocolate Eclair and a Danish Waffle. I went with the eclair because it was one of the few Western-style cakes available in my hometown of Shanghai when I was growing up. I've loved them since childhood. Back then, the only other Western desserts we could find were Palmiers, Chestnut Cream Cakes, and cups of whipped cream that you would just eat directly. The eclair tasted excellent, with a texture that was a perfect mix of soft and crispy. The cream was a little oily but still acceptable, and while the whole thing was quite sweet--a bit beyond average--I could still enjoy it. The Danish Waffle looked a bit like a fried Chinese donut, or Youtiao, stuffed with whipped cream, but the outside was actually a light, crispy puff pastry. It was much better than I imagined--crispy without being hard and perfectly baked. The filling was the same cream used in the eclair, combined with raspberry jam. I later realized the Danish Waffle was only $6.25, nearly half the price of the eclair despite being just as good. It's strange that the Chocolate Eclair is the most expensive item in the bakery; it's good, but compared to the Danish Waffle, the price is a bit high. I saw some people complaining that the bakery doesn't have a restroom. When I asked, the staff politely directed me to the nearby park. I accepted the answer, though I can't imagine how they handle the crowds during the busy season. Regardless, this is a five-star experience, no doubt--just be sure to check your bill when you pay. I don't want to pay more than I owe, but I don't want to pay less, either.

Although nowadays spices are much more easier to come by (just drive down to your nearest supermarket!); many spices are still on the scarcer side and represent luxury. Have no fear, though, because you no longer have to board a ship and find the passage to the Middle East but can simply head to the Solvang Spice Merchant. Solvang Spice Merchant is a female-owned (shout out to girl bosses!) spice boutique located in the central hub of the famous Danish tourist city of Solvang near Santa Barbara. Opening its doors a couple years before the Covid pandemic in 2018; Solvang Spice Merchant not only survived but thrived with a brick and mortar storefront and an online shipping option (flat rate of $10 shipping no matter the size of purchase!). The business features hand-crafted spices and seasonings, teas, and foodie gift sets serving both tourists and Solvang residents, alike. My boyfriend and I ventured into the Solvang Spice Merchant when visiting Solvang from Los Angeles for the city's Christmas-time Julefest and gazed our eyes on a shop that would make any King or emperor proud. The store is filled with floor to ceiling shelves of spices/seasoning mixes categorized by country/region and then further sub-categorized by ingredients, styles (BBQ, Pickling, etc) available in various bottle sizes (plus some can be purchased at the counter in bulk, as well). If you can conceive a certain spice or seasoning, trust me that Solvang Spice Merchant has it! Even if you are not in the market for spices; the store is fun to browse and discover all of the spices from around the world. My personal spice journey has endlessly been looking for Garam Masala (an Indian spice) which I could have purchased at the Indian shop by my apartment in Los Angeles - but what fun is that?! It is much better to come across Garam Masala at Solvang Spice Merchant where the spices are combined by hand and with love while enjoying the world of spices! We purchased a 2.3 oz bottle (the smallest) of Garam Masala for $10.25 which isn't cheap: but expected from a boutique spice store. I have since used the spice mix on chicken, Steelhead trout and steamed veggies and it is absolute perfection and makes my apartment smell delightful with its warm spices. The only complaint? None of the two young females behind the counter welcomed us into the store, offered any samples (which I learned the store does indeed do), ask if we needed help, etc. Solvang's main gimmick is being a welcoming tourist city ESPECIALLY during Christmas as it is known as the, "Most Christmas-y City in the Nation". Unfortunately, that Hallmark Christmas movie customer service was absent the night of our visit. Despite this minor qualm; Solvang Spice Merchant is a charming spice shop fit for a King, emperor, sultan or just Averages Joes like you and I visiting Solvang. Not only will you find whatever spice your heart desires but you will have an enjoyable time simply scanning the shelves.
