This is a quaint little ice cream parlor with only about three seats. It's mainly for orders to go. The ladies were very friendly and made you feel welcome. The only thing that I would recommend is having napkins readily available. The ice cream itself was average in my opinion as it was not as creamy as I wanted. As for the price, I didn't think it was worth it, but it's probably reasonable due its tourist location.
Be prepared to wait 30+ mins in line before u get to the ordering place. Its fancily located next to the windmill and where they sell the trolley tickets do my advice would be to have one person wait in line and split the party for trolley tickets and photos with windmill to use your time wisely. The staff is super friendly and ice creams look so good with the freshly prepared waffle cones :) expensive but totally worth it :) They do have outside seating in the back but it's always full so just keep walking and eating. They did have a coffee menu too which we didn't try as we were too full. Our favorite here was : santa barbara strawberry ice cream in chocolate sprinkle waffle cone :)
Fun ice cream shop in Solvang. They have 25-30 flavors. Some are traditional, some are specialty flavors. It's a popular place to go for kids and adults.
Ice cream is necessary even on a cold windy day! When you walk in, you are hit with the smell of waffle cones and sweetness. There were about 4 parties in front of me when I went around 3:30pm. No samples due to being out of tasting spoons. I committed to getting chocolate covered strawberries flavor which seemed to be vanilla base with chocolate chips and strawberries mixed in. A good balance of 3 flavors. Was it the creamiest ice cream I've ever had? No. But it's ice cream and there was nothing wrong with it either! The ordering system was different than any ice cream store I have been to before. You order at the cashier and they give you a number. They will call it out and you pick it up on the side when it's ready. This gets a bit chaotic when the pick up counter is right next to the exit of the store and you have to squeeze around a lot of people to get out.
In the mood of some ice cream in Solvang, Trolley is the place. we had not been here in a while, They moved. They are now right at the corner of the street. the store is super cute . They have a great menu and lots of flavors. The boys ordered a one scoop waffle come and it is a great size. The staff is super nice and friendly. When in Solvang make sure to stop by.
They recently moved their shop to in the actual windmill. They say its blue, but its a very faded blue. Looks a lot cooler though, cuz its in an actual windmill!! They have several ice cream options. As well as pastries (which I didnt see any), coffees and other snacks. You can also evidently buy trolley tickets here as well. I got their banana salted caramel as well as their lemon marion berry. The one person working the counter was super nice. Friendly. Seems to be an ebb and flow with this place. When we got there around group of 8 was just leaving. And as we got our order another group of 6 walked in. So I can only imagine how busy it gets here. Some of the ice creams were almost empty. There's a little sitting area outsidside the front, with more tables on the back side. The banana salted caramel was really good. Salty, sweet, very banana-y. It was a good mix. Nice and smooth and velvety. The lemon Marion berry was a little too tart for me. But my wife enjoyed it. Overall even though it was already cold outside. Its never too late for some good ice cream. And the ice cream here is really good!!
This ice cream hit the spot on a hot day after walking around the town of Solvang. My husband got the Churro ice cream and I got the Lemon with Marion berry cream. And our son got a S'mores flavor in a cup. All the flavors were delicious and would love to come back here.
This shop is always busy, but for good reason. They have the best quality Ice Cream in Solvang in my opinion. My kids love coming here whenever we are in town. They have so many flavors to use from. The shop isn't very big so the line sometimes goes out the door. The service is good. It's a good idea to think about what flavors you want so you don't hold up the line.
Maybe it's just me or maybe I'm just a harsh critic, but I didn't notice anything spectacular about the ice cream besides the ice cream and who doesn't like that? I think what makes this place unique is where it's located and how the layout looks because that old classic feeling and the fact that there's a long line. Is it good? Yes, would I stand in that line just to get it no.

They called from the register anyone ready to order while we had been waiting about 20 mins in line and were next standing in front of the freezers, so then others rushed to cut. I don't understand that? Why do they have a line and have us wait and then all of a sudden change the process? Especially when we waited patiently? The guy just ignored us when I asked if my daughter could sample the birthday flavor since she wanted green tea but had none. Also, pistachio seemed to be flavorless and they didn't have green tea which is what we went for. The strawberry was good & the affogato which is why they get 3 stars.
FOOD: The ice cream here is very good!! So tasty and creamy! There are also so many choices in flavors. I got the Cookie dough and it was really good. Had pieces of cookie dough and chocolate chip. My family ordered the Pistachio, Early Grey and Shortbread Cookies, and Mint Chip and all loved their choices. SERVICE: Everyone was nice and friendly and they let us try samples if we wanted to before making our choice. I like when places do that so we know if we will like the flavor before choosing. AMBIANCE/DECOR: It's a very small place, but the line was out the door! That is when you know its a good place to try! The line moved quickly and brought flashes of being in a line at Disneyland :) Trying out their ice cream is definitely worth the short wait. I will definitely be back here on my next visit to Solvang.
Cute ice cream parlor in solvang with fresh baked waffle smells! Hard to pass it up! They serve mcconnells ice cream and had a good variety of flavors! The workers were super nice and allowed us to try couple samples. Ice creams were fresh, honestly can't go wrong with this place! Just be prepared to wait in a long line
This place had a long line so we figured they might be good. Got chocolate ice cream. Don't bother with the coffee. They served pretty slow for an ice cream shop that just needs to scoop. Probably only a handful of people ordered coffee so they didn't care. I saw my coffee and someone else's were sitting on the counter for awhile. The ice were all melted by the time I got the drink. They taste ok. Not really quenching thirst the way an iced coffee should!

Probably the best ice cream in town. I always come here when visiting Solvang. Line moves quick and you can get samples of the ice cream. Prices are good. I'd recommend trying the flavors first and getting a mini cup. Single is pretty filling. Mango Sorbet is top tier flavor! read more

It is all street parking. Town of Solvang is small so get there earlier to find yourself some parking spots. This place is tucked away in a corner. I got a double scoop with Santa Barbara Strawberry and Pistachio. Both flavors were amazing. They actually used real strawberries and not some weird syrupy mix. Pistachio was creamy, nutty, and didn't have that fake green color. All the real ingredients. The portions were generous too. The shop itself is classic looking and the people working there were super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. read more

So after we ate dinner, we went to ice cream. I got the sea salt, cream and cookies and sprinkle cake. It was really good. my brother got mint chip and chocolate. my sister got rainbow sherbet. my mom got mint chip and chocolate too. And it was really good. The service was also really good and they always remember us. read more

You can never go wrong with Ice cream. It's always my go to spot when in Solvang. Vanilla bean on a waffle cone is alway delicious. 10/10 service and ice cream. Enjoyed everything about it cute little ice shop. read more

Small shop, good ice cream, long lines, limited seating (1-2 small tables), ok service. We enjoyed the coffee & mango ice cream. They gave us a full scoop of coffee but only partial scoop of mango, and it took awhile to ask for napkins & a 2nd spoon, even though they saw there's 2 of us. read more

Cute little ice cream "parlor" tucked away in the middle of town. It's not necessarily a shop you can walk into and have a sit down... you order at the window. With a quaint little town like Solvang to walk around and enjoy-- not sitting was fine with me. The ladies were sweet and quick with our orders. A handful of us walked up at once and they handled that at a reasonable pace. I ordered the Seasalt Cream & Cookies on a cone. Perfection. The second I read the flavor, I just knew I'd love it. The ice cream wasn't suuuuper creamy if that's what you're looking for, but it was still the right amount of creaminess for me. Perfect blend of sweet and salty... definitely made my taste buds happy! If you purchase Trolley tickets, it does come with a discount for the ice cream parlor... sadly, we were made aware of that AFTER our Trolley ride. We had gotten the ice cream beforehand while we were waiting for our Trolley time slot... Boo-hoo for us. There's just something about eating ice cream in the winter time... I love it! We were here in the middle of a hot humid summer, so obviously we needed ice cream! We were undeterred by the long line, actually that convinced us we were in the right place! They serve mcconnells ice cream and it's fresh and delicious everytime . We went back twice on our weekend trip to Solvang for the chocolate covered strawberry flavor!! The service was also great and friendly. read more
The ice cream is good here. My family and I stop here almost everytime we are in the area. Not sure why I never wrote a review on this place but here it is. It's a lovely ice cream parlor with variety of flavors and freshly baked waffle cones. During Christmas they out of the cutest decorations such as these huge nutcrackers. Love them. They also sell trolley tickets since they are one of their sponsors. Keep your tickets for a discount at a few locations thoughout town including here at the ice cream parlor. Delicious ice cream with choice of yummy cones and selection of flavors! Great customer service and very fast! The outside there is only one place to sit! A seat with horse head! Very different, unique and cute design. Their strawberry ice cream is my forever favorite and also if they are not out of green tea flavor is my second choice! They are not too sweet so its a great desert after a heavy lunch! read more

Stopped on our way to Santa Barbara with family. I got the milk and cookies ice cream. It was very good. However my husband's milkshake was not what he expected. It was very milky/liquidy. Normally milkshakes are thick but this was not. He went to ask about how they make it and they said that's how they normally make it. He's not one for complaining to staff so he left it at that. Needless to say he would not be getting a milkshake from there again. I'd just stick to their ice-cream. read more
