Danish Kringle (yummy) Chocolate truffle (disappointing)
    Kate F.

The Danish Kringle was pretty tasty but the chocolate truffle was disappointing They do have a small area in the back to eat but you have to pay a tip to eat there and order it to eat in. I found that a little strange for a bakery

Excellent selection of tasty treats. The cinnamon crisp is a sublime mix of a churro and a croissant. We visited at the low tourist season so service was a breeze. More of an urban atmosphere than kitchy. They had some cute animatronics out front which is very popular among the bakeries here.

Can we talk about how cute little chefs are in the window?! And we got there at the perfect time before the line was out the door. Everything was baked to perfection. The Kringle was DEVINE and I wasn't sharing. Only thing missing was a cup of coffee to complete the perfection. But after all it's Solvang and you need to pace yourself for all the eating.

The best price for pastries, $4.95 for pastry in February 2026! All the baked goods looked super tasty, hard to choose. Got the Guava cheese danish pastry was delicious, the flakey dough was a little bit salty, so go for just the regular fruit option. The line does get busy mid day, but moves quickly. The store was clean, and there are couple table in the back to enjoy your pastry. Overall, a great place to stop and get all your pastries.

Danish Mill Bakery - Solvang A true Solvang gem Danish Mill Bakery is a historic, family-owned bakery, and you can feel the tradition the moment you walk in. I had the guava cheese Danish, my husband enjoyed the raspberry cheese, and my friend had the blueberry cheese all three were fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Perfect balance of sweetness and texture. This bakery has roots tracing back to Copenhagen and a legacy of baking even for Danish royalty, which makes the experience feel extra special. They're known for authentic Danish pastries like kringle and aebleskiver, crafted by Danish-educated pastry chefs, blending classic recipes with a modern touch. The place is spotless also the good service and the decor is cute and adorable I loved the window decorations and the little birds outside such a cozy, welcoming vibe. You can truly taste the history, care, and passion here. A must-visit in Solvang

This bakery looks as it appears, welcoming and busy. It's non stop and I tasted the reason why. If you are visiting Solvang, the Danish Mill Bakery is a must stop. I highly recommend trying the Apple Fritter. It's deliciously soft, the flavor is just magical!! I only had "one bite and I'm done" in mind but, I ate half of this delightful loaf. They also offer hot or iced coffee, lattes, etc.. This is a cute bakery. Don't forget to check out the mechanical bakers in the front! :)

The best we've ever had--truly worth the wait. We've been craving these pastries for ages, and somehow they're just as delightful as we remembered. Naturally, we went all in and tried a bit of everything. Tonight is all about indulgence--no rules, no restraint, just pure enjoyment. Consider this your sign to give in to your sweetest cravings... unapologetically.

Behind every wonderful bakery is a baker with a vision and a heart full of passion. Let's delve into this sweet danish review. Danish Mill Bakery (est 1960) is an iconic bakery in Solvang that offers traditional Danish pastries, cookies, and coffee. A must-visit for authentic flavours and a cozy, Danish-inspired atmosphere. I walked-in just to ogle at their pastries, however, temptation was too strong. So I decided to give my nascent relationship with sweets another chance. I had TWO truffles, a classic and dark martini; each cost $1.75 USD. It's very good, bloody amazing! Service was fast. Female staff was professional. Atmosphere was chill. Layout was spacious. Prices were on the high end. Parking was abundant. Collectively, this is a good Danish bakery. Overall, I had a good experience and utterly enjoyed my truffles. I recommend you visit.

Located on the main drag is the Danish Mill Bakery. Outside and inside is full Danish. They have a huge selection of baked goods! Customer Service is good. The restaurant seems slightly modernized. I ordered the Cherry Cream Cheese Danish. Delicious! Great amount of filling! My daughter enjoyed her chocolate truffle.

my fam and i like to visit solvang from time to time. a quick day trip from LA. solvang is filled with soooo many danish bakeries and its so hard to choose one, but they are all great. danish mill bakery is usually our go to, we love a good sourdough. close to 11am, they were sold out of the sourdough boule! they werent making any more for the rest of the day!! the gal helping us out was not very helpful, i asked if they had any sourdough left, she looked behind the counter and said, no. my thoughts.. like are you guys baking any now? will there be another batch? we drove 2.5 hrs, like can i call to put a few on hold?? like give me some tips girl!! this bakery usually has a line out the door, but you feel rushed when its your turn to order. they have a seating area inside and outside avail. ordered a few different fruit danishes, jalapeño cheese bread, french bread loaf and cinnamon roll parking: there is free parking all around the town. try to come early as it fills up to noon during peak days/times.

    Cute electronic chef

Charming Danish Bakery Experience! Stopped by Danish Mill Bakery in Solvang and had a great experience. The Danish Pastries and custard were fresh, flaky, and delicious exactly what you'd hope for in a classic Danish Bakery. We ordered both a single and double cafe latte. The single was smooth, while the double was strong and really good, perfect if you like a bold coffee to pair with sweet pastries. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the ambiance was cozy and charming. A fun highlight was the cute electronic chef baking by the window, which added a playful touch and made the stop even more memorable. A must visit spot in Solvang for great pastries, coffee, and a bit of charm.

Came here from a recommendation to get some pastries and an iced coffee. We were promptly served but since we got to go order we had to sit outside which wasn't a problem. The food was ok and a bit overhyped and the coffee was not very good. I think for a danish town we expected a danish bakery to have a bit more flavor and authentic food.

There are better bakeries within a couple minutes walk. The staff was nice enough, but told us we couldn't sit inside since we initially said to-go and changed our minds. The princess cake had very little jam and the cream puff was average. The eclair cream was oddly tangy and when asked, they said it was raspberry flavored...however there was not any raspberry color and everyone who tried it had stomach issues later. It also was not advertised as a raspberry eclair.

Nice option when in town. The Jalapeno bread was perfection. Pastries were good and not overly sweet. Plenty of parking in the lots.

Thoughts: I must admit that I'm not a bread person. The only reason I went here is that I had to take some tourists around. Solvang was a pretty obvious stop to make, and we found ourselves in Olsen's. I'm a believer of nailing the simple things, because you won't be able to hide it in fluff. What I liked about Olsen's bread is that they taste home made. The flavors taste exactly like what you asked for, and they don't have those added chemicals that certain establishments use to make the flavors "pop out". The bread was flaky, chewy, and an overall joy to consume. Ambiance: The tables and chairs had a cafe vibe (which is what the place is). It's clean, the bakery smelled great, and the high foot traffic means that the turnaround keeps the food fresh. Service: Straightforward. Pick your bread, ask your questions, and the staff will ring you up after getting what you asked for.

Take a look at my photos first--the cake and the bill just didn't match. I ordered three items (two…read morecakes and a coffee), but the receipt only listed two, and they weren't even the items I had. I checked the menu and realized the bill was actually for less than I should have paid; it was likely mixed up with the customer sitting next to me, who I remember had ordered a Napoleon. Looking at the prices later, I found the menu quite strange: the Chocolate Eclair is $11.95, while the Napoleon is a dollar less. Anyone who has ever made both will admit that an eclair is much easier to prepare than a Napoleon--in fact, an eclair might be the easiest item in a bakery. It's an interesting pricing choice. This bakery must be very famous; even the AI I used to plan my trip from Pasadena to San Jose recommended it. Since it isn't peak season, I easily found a parking spot on the main street, which was a relief compared to ten years ago when I had to drive in circles to find one. Even in the off-season, there was still a line--not too long, but a line nonetheless. The pastries in the case were all beautifully made and looked delicious. It was difficult to decide, but I eventually chose a Chocolate Eclair and a Danish Waffle. I went with the eclair because it was one of the few Western-style cakes available in my hometown of Shanghai when I was growing up. I've loved them since childhood. Back then, the only other Western desserts we could find were Palmiers, Chestnut Cream Cakes, and cups of whipped cream that you would just eat directly. The eclair tasted excellent, with a texture that was a perfect mix of soft and crispy. The cream was a little oily but still acceptable, and while the whole thing was quite sweet--a bit beyond average--I could still enjoy it. The Danish Waffle looked a bit like a fried Chinese donut, or Youtiao, stuffed with whipped cream, but the outside was actually a light, crispy puff pastry. It was much better than I imagined--crispy without being hard and perfectly baked. The filling was the same cream used in the eclair, combined with raspberry jam. I later realized the Danish Waffle was only $6.25, nearly half the price of the eclair despite being just as good. It's strange that the Chocolate Eclair is the most expensive item in the bakery; it's good, but compared to the Danish Waffle, the price is a bit high. I saw some people complaining that the bakery doesn't have a restroom. When I asked, the staff politely directed me to the nearby park. I accepted the answer, though I can't imagine how they handle the crowds during the busy season. Regardless, this is a five-star experience, no doubt--just be sure to check your bill when you pay. I don't want to pay more than I owe, but I don't want to pay less, either.
