I'm big fan of hanan chicken so I was super exited when this place recently opened in Pasadena. Now if you're unfamiliar with hanan chicken or have been living under a rock though all these years eating mainly crickets and worms, It's basically poached chicken served atop a bed of fragrant rice that's been cooked in its juices. The name "Cluck2Go" suggest pick-up and go kind atmopshere, but they do offer sit down dining, limited to small handful of seats. Parking is street only. I ordered half hanan chicken (dark meat $14), chicken was perfectly tender and juicy. The rice was simply heaven in bowl, so super most. The meal comes with small bowl chicken broth and pickled vegetables, plus your typical accoutrements of garlic/ginger and sweet chile sauce (soy sauce and sriracha bottle available on hand). All to enhance your eating pleasure. The only thing you would come here for is hanan chicken which is definitely on point, including flavorful rice. The perfect comfort food, healthier option to fried chicken - another weakness of mine. Lately, I been trying to minimize my intake of carbs, but coming here surely doesn't help. This is my go to. No it's ands or buts about it. I get the salt and pepper chicken and if I'm hungry I'll even get the honey chicken and I'll add a little side of pickled vegetables. Oh my goodness. read more

I love Hainan Chicken and am happy to see a new restaurant that sells it open near me! This shop is located in Pasadena, a city where you wouldn't normally find any restaurant that sells Hainan Chicken. So, there's a lot of value opening up shop here. PARKING + AMBIENCE I parked on the nearby street, Colorado Blvd is a busy street, but the nearby side street leads to a neighborhood with plenty of parking. The small shop has a couple of tables, perfect for parties of two to five. There was plenty of people dining when I came during a weekend lunch hour, a good sign for an up and coming restaurant! FOOD I got the Hainan Chicken Rice ($8.95), +$1 if you want dark meat. The plate comes with complimentary chicken broth and two sauces filled with ginger. The quality of the chicken was excellent, it was tender and the chicken pieces were all full of meat. They provided a solid portion of chicken and rice. I also enjoyed the two sauces very much, they both added a desirable flavor to the meal. SERVICE We were greeted by the daughter of the owner, who took our order at the front. She was super friendly and happy to see that we found out about them through Yelp. CONCLUSION This might be my favorite place for Hainan Chicken that I have eaten recently. It is absolutely comparable to Savory and might even be better since Savory's quality has been going down as of late. They're a mom and pop shop so they are cordial and value your support greatly. I'll definitely be back to get my Hainan Chicken fix in the near future! read more

They only serve hainan chicken. And 4.5 stars. That's how you know they know how to do it well. I got the hainan chicken rice with dark meat to go. The container was solid, also got 2 sauces (soy garlic, chili and pickled napa cabbage). Rice was good. Chicken was tender and flavorful. Juicy too. Came with a small soup which was ok. Not much taste to that. Overall, a very good dish. I wanna try their fried hainan chicken rice next time. read more

This place seems like they're known for their Hainan Chicken although I am not a big fan of it in general. I did order it in the past though but this time instead, i ordered the eel garlic rice which was really good! The garlic flavor is infused with the rice along with some scrambled eggs, kind of like a fried rice and it was really tasty! Topped off with the unagi eel and some fish flakes and soke seaweed, though there could have been more eel relative to the amount of rice. I also ordered the honey garlic chicken wings which was pretty good. It was drizzled with a lot of honey so I did not really get a good taste of garlic in them. The entree also came with chicken broth soup. I waited a little longer than the ETA from the online ordering, but that's okay, they were nice about it. I was excited to finally try Cluck2Go after a long hike in the area. The Hainan chicken rice was only okay for me - dark meat was juicy & tender but sauces and veggies were whatevers, while the rice was pretty flavorful/decent. The soup it came with was also way too oily even after one small sip. We also had the honey garlic wings and I highly recommend that you DO NOT get them unless you want molasses-like honey getting stuck all up in the nooks and crannies of your pearly whites. The flavor was there but... the honey. It was ridiculously thick and sticky and made it so difficult to enjoy the wings because you're chewing all weird. If you're able to get past the skin, then the rest of the wing is good. Just stick with 626 spots if you want some really good authentic Hainan chicken. read more

Their hainam chicken noodle soup was so comforting after a month of eating out nonstop. I was in desperate need of something comforting yesterday and I wanted chicken soup. 4.5 Star. Overall. First time here, and looks like I'll be a regular. I like the no-MSG, homey, light-feel chicken soup noodle and fried chicken rice dish. Convenient, take outs & to-go's available; great idea for a quick lunch or dinner on days that I don't feel like cooking. Good break from typical heavy-feel restaurants. Mild Asian fusion feel. Sorry I'm a little stingy with my reviews...I reserve a 5 Star for places that I feel I would CRAVE for. Despite a half star deduction, know that you have my regular business. :) 3 Star. Service. Cluck0go ! I'm not comparing their SG chicken with any SG chicken from SG, because it will be unfair. Because this will be a -1k star review. Friendly service. --- Hainan chicken with dark and white meat. Here is the thing with SG Hainan chicken, white or dark meat, any meat without a layer jelly under the chicken skin is not SG Hainan chicken. Any SG Hainan chicken comes without the chicken skin is not SG chicken. It's probably not even an Asian chicken. Their chicken is not Wenchang chicken as well. Wenchang chicken got very oily yellow skin and the ones they served got white skin. It's texture is like standard air chilled organic chicken/han. 2/3 portion of the chicken got no skin, chicken skin is too mushy (probably soaked to long) chicken meat is dry and chewy, sambal tasted a bit like SG sambal and the ginger green onion is similar too SG dipping sauce as well. --- Chicken rice: Way too hard and dry. It does have a bit of oily ginger flavors, but the rice is too cheap to eat. --- Chicken soup: It tasted great with Totole granulated Chicken Flavor Soup Base Mix. Very disappointed ! read more

Again picked up food to go, they never disappoint! Very good Hainan chicken and rice. The two sauce that they give is super good, one is spicy the orange one and the green is a mixture of green onion/ginger so so good. Oh, almost forgot they give you a pickle side of vegs (cabbage/carrot). I always get dark meat option for the chicken, no extra cost which was a plus. We also order the honey chicken appetizer which is nice and crispy, so good ! They know to keep the box slightly open so the chicken doesn't get all moist and soggy, which is a key for fried chicken wings! If you are a sauce person, I would order more the two they give you is not enough. Sorry no pictures, I ate it all before posting !!! read more

Came here with my sister on a Wednesday night and it was a a blessing in disguise! We originally wanted to get In-n -Out but the line was crazy long! So we came across this place on Yelp and called in our order for pick up. Food was ready so fast! Originally they told me 20 mins but I was only 3 mins away so I was a little worried. I went in anyway and they had my order ready within 5 mins of getting there. I got the dark meat hainan, and my sister got the fried hainan. I didn't expect much because I love Savoy, but this place met my expectations. I would definitely recommend trying the fried hainan. So good! Tip: Call in your order ahead of time! Even on a Wednesday night it seemed like they could get busy. read more

If you are craving for Hainan chicken, this is a great spot for you. Ordered the Hainan Chicken Rice plate and they were very generous with their chicken. It comes with three sauces, rice, soup, and pickled vegetables. The soup was not that great, but all the rest of the chicken dish was great. I tried their winter melon tea which was a bit too sweet for my taste. Would definitely come back again. read more

They have several locations and originally I was going to go to the Rowland Heights location but ended up coming here since I went to pick up a drink at Fiki for the Yelp event. Glad I came though. Place is like a hole in the wall as location itself isn't big but wasn't hard to find. Seemed like I ended up ordering a little bit of everything off the menu. Ordered their Hainan Chicken w/ dark meat, fried Hainan Chicken, honey chicken wings and spicy cucumbers. Simple Hainan Chicken but it was pretty good. Meat was tender and simple with one type of sauce provided. On the other hand, you can't find a lot of places that have fried Hainan Chicken but not too shabby here. I would stick with the traditional non-fried style. The honey chicken wings though was great! For the price and the number of wings, definitely worth it. Wasn't really sauce heavy which I thought was perfect. Spicy cucumber is an acquired taste. Definitely a bit spicy but to me it was the numbing style type of spice. You'll definitely need to get used to it. Thought it was different though couldn't really finish the cucumbers. However, this is called Cluck2Go as their specialty is their chicken so definitely recommend this place. read more

I may have never came here if it wasn't for the hype. I've noticed it a few times but never really thought about trying it. Slowly I started to hear the chicken was some of the best Hainan chicken in L.A. I checked it out online and it seemed just a tad pricey so I still stayed away. Time and time again I heard great recommendations. Finally I relented and gave it a try. Currently, I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. First, my concerns about the price were way overblown. The prices were fair and it was worth it. Everything about this spot is very simple, but so well done. My wife and I took a seat near the window and ordered honey garlic wings and spicy cucumber salad. I order white and dark meat Hainan chicken and my wife got all dark meat. The food all came out incredibly quick and included a warm cup of broth. The broth was a great start to the meal. Simple, warm, comforting, and left you satisfied. The salad was crisp and refreshing with just enough spice to make it enticing, but not over powering. The wings were tasty, but actually a bit too sticky, almost like they were candied. This was the one miss of the meal and I wouldn't order it again. As for the chicken, it was everything you want from Hainan chicken. Simple, moist, flavorful chicken. Both of the accompanying sauces paired well. Simple food done right is hard to find, but so satisfying when you find it. I already can't wait to come back for more. When you're craving delicious chicken flavor and nothing more, this is the place to be. read more

Came here on Fathers Day and I love it! It's a small place but they have parking, which is always a big plus in Pasadena. Highly recommend their Hainan chicken with rice because it's all about the sauce. It really is. They supply you with three sauces: ginger, grated chili?, and sweet soy sauce. When I combined the ginger with the soy sauce, all was well in the world. We also ordered the fried Hainan chicken and that was really good too. No complaining over the fried chicken skin... because it is what it is and it was fresh. You can definitely tell by the chicken and how tender it was! It's a small intimate place so if you come during peak hours, you'd have to wait. I wish there was one closer to my home so I can come all the time. Nonetheless, this is as authentic as it gets. The dishes are very savory and comforting, and I cannot say one restaurant is better than the other, as they cook their chicken and rice differently (but it's still very delicious). The hainan chicken is legit here. We ordered the half chicken mixed plates -- comes with pickled veggies, sauces (garlic based, ginger based & sweet soy sauce) & rice with chicken flavor. Oh my gosh, the chicken is fresh, flavorful, juicy.. everything you want Hainan chicken to be. Absolutely killed it. Doesn't even need the sauces but I liked the complimentary sweet soy sauce most (the garlic and ginger ones were too strong for my wimpy taste) Got the wintermelon tea -- a little sweet for me but so delicious and refreshing!! Ordered takeout from here for first time this past Friday. The service was quick, 15 minutes from calling in order to pickup. The amount of food was good for price and not having to drive to the SGV. I ordered Hainan chicken (white & dark meat) over rice and salt & pepper wings. Everything was delicious. The only flaw was the complimentary soup spilled out of the container, there was only about half of it left to enjoy and there was a soupy mess at the bottom of my takeout order. read more

Solid Hainan Chicken restaurant. My friends and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and were able to find free street parking around the corner. It's a small space and luckily, we grabbed their last open table. I ordered the Hainan Chicken Plate (dark and white meat mix) which comes with suuuper clean broth, chicken rice, 2 dipping sauces, and pickled veggies. The chicken was very tender and juicy (both the dark and white meat). The skin peeled off easily too. Yes, I peel the skin off. The rice was fluffy and very flavorful from the chicken broth that they cook it in. I don't usually eat rice but I really liked Cluck2Go's. The dipping sauces were ginger based: one regular and one slightly spicier. They helped cut through the heaviness of the chicken and rice. The pickled cucumber, cabbage, and cucumbers also helped with that. I actually wish they gave more pickles. I liked the acidity. Solid food. The server was also very attentive at refilling our water. A surprisingly authentic Hainan chicken place near PCC. Street parking only. The actual eating space is very small with little tables. I encourage you to do take out, otherwise it takes awhile to get a table. The Hainan chicken is very delicious and authentic. They also have some curry there but most people eat the chicken and rice. *** My Choice for Hainan Chicken Rice *** Well, this is embarrassing. I've had Cluck2Go for a while now. Sometimes weekly even but where is my review..? I guess it doesn't need another review but I will add my STAMP of APPROVAL. Those of you who actually read my reviews know that I don't give many 5s. I'm obviously not your average Yelper who gives a 5 star rating and says, "It's the best. Amazing. blah blah." For a place to get an actual 5 star, you need more criteria than that. I don't give 5 stars if I have only had your food once (There are exceptions of course). I LOVE Hainan Chicken Rice at Cluck2Go. It is consistently delicious, easy to order, highly efficient pick up, generous portion size. I love that there is a warm chicken broth with the dish. I usually drink half and pour the other half onto my rice. The sauces are great but the chicken+rice, they are the stars. Chicken is perfectly juicy; The rice is flavorful. Don't know how many times I've had their dish but it tastes exactly the same EVERY time. I heart consistently delicious food. Now as for the hainan chicken "wars", Cluck2Go wins because although I have other hainan chicken places on my list to try, I fear disappointment. Sure, I've had forgettable, subpar hainan chicken in the past but I've already found my hainan chicken place that has won by a long shot. One day I will try others. Yes, Savoy is tasty but too far. If i have to spend extra time/gas, I'm probably not going to end up there often. Cluck2Go is our go to for hainan chicken rice. Hands down the best all around...and that's coming from me. =) You don't have to go because I don't want to increase my wait time. But then again, I'm not worried about it since they've got their system down. =) read more

Hands down one of my favorite places to eat at. I go here often and when I'm lazy, I use postmates. Their quality is always good. This place mainly serves Hainan chicken. I believe they might do a curry and wings?! But I'm a creature of habit and usually order the same thing. I get the all white meat chicken, my bf usually orders the dark meat but also for anyone who wants both, they have a mixed option. The meat is tender and the broth is delicious but the main draw are their sauces!!!! I like to pour both sauces all over my chicken and then pour some of the broth onto my rice. I've had their cucumber salad and pickled veggies before. Both are very good and the portions are huge. I usually take this to go after. I highly recommend coming here! read more

Wanted Hainan chicken, didn't want to drive to Savoy. Also I live here now so might as well establish my spots. I submitted an online order and drove there. There is parking in the back so I did and walked over, for weekday lunch time there were a couple people ahead in line so I waited and gave my order # to pick up. I had gotten all white meat chicken which came with a simple chicken broth, scallion and ginger sauce and a chili ginger sauce, chicken flavored rice as well as a small container of pickled veggies. The chicken was flavorful and moist, and the rice was excellent and generously portioned. I also enjoyed the chicken broth which was nice to wash down the food with, I'm just not the biggest fan of strong ginger flavors so I wasn't going crazy with the sauces but scallion was a bit milder and chili had more of a punch, both were enjoyable. The pickled veggies also added a nice crunch and variety to the meal. If you're in the mood for Hainan chicken, would recommend. read more

This place is a hidden gem. It's a small place with only a handful of tables and is a little run down but man this place is rad. Don't expect an extensive menu here, this place specializes in Hainanese Chicken Rice with a unique fried version I haven't had anywhere else, along with a few side dishes to complement your main. So far everything I've had here has been excellent. Also the guy working the front is a beast. He handles the dine-in guests, to go orders and dining protocols. I am so used to going to Savoy in Alhambra for Hainan chicken, but since we moved, we wanted to get something similar, but not a 20 min drive out. Luckily we came across Cluck2Go in East Pas. Granted that the prices are $1-$2 more per plate than Savoy, but it really cuts down the driving time. It's a great place to get that Hainan chicken fix and I would say it's on the even playing field as Savoy. The chicken is tender, the rice is fluffy and flavorful, the sauces are the same (ginger, scallion, sweet), BUT they are uniquely different than what you're used to where the sauces are have more complexity in spices. Unfortunately, not sure if this was during the pandemic or existed before, but they do charge for extra sauce. Regardless, this is an amazing hole in the wall restaurant that I wouldn't mind becoming a regular at. read more

Most people think, the dish Hainan Chicken originated from a province in China called Hainan. Very little people know that Hainan Chicken was actually made popular in Singapore. Our chefs have made it their mission to bring the nostalgia of Singapore to our dish. By using fresh ingredients and fresh young chickens, we have made this combination of white and dark chicken meat accompanied by a bowl of steamed chicken flavored rice sensational. Our dish has won awards from popular food magazine; WacowLA for having the best Voted #1 Hainan Chicken in LA. Many customers from Singapore have also praised us for our authentic tastes. But this isn't the main issue.... The main (issue) surprise: There is an extra 3% credit-card surcharge on top of your bill which isn't noted anywhere as I found out after I got home. We also had fresh uni and eel, and everything was presented with a lot of attention to detail. The ingredients tasted fresh, the flavors were well balanced, and the entire meal felt thoughtfully prepared rather than simply being about presentation. Service throughout the evening was excellent as well. Everyone was attentive and made us feel very well taken care of. I've been to Panda Inn before, but this customized dinner was truly a different experience. Beautiful presentation, thoughtful dishes, and a very memorable evening. 4.5 stars. Cluck2Go has replaced Savoy as my SGV go-to pickup spot for Hainan Chicken rice. Priced well at $10 a plate, it includes moist chicken, rice (seasoned with chicken broth), pickled veggies and a couple ginger dipping sauces. (Pro tip: ask for the heated soy sauce, it tastes amazing with the rice.) Waits can get long depending on when you go, so definitely call ahead for pickup. For dine-in, it seats around 12-15 only. After an early appointment we found Cluck2Go by chance! So glad we stopped in because this hai nan chicken is wonderful! We were loyal Savoy Kitchen diners for a long long time but after having Cluck2Go, I had to break things off with Savoy! Although the meal comes on a paper plate, they give you a good serving of chicken and rice. We had the original hai nan chicken as well as the fried hai nan chicken. Both were delicious!
