12/22/25 My family and I received a bag of fragrant jerky for the holidays. I've had similar jerky in the past but I've never had it FRESH! It makes such a big difference and it tastes pretty good. JERKY HERE SLAPSSSS. My mom loves it. I always make it a point to get some for her before I go home. It's super melt in your mouth yummy but it can get EXPENSIVE!! A small little shop that sells pork jerky! I love this stuff so I was glad that San Gabriel Valley had something like this. You can order the jerky by pound and you have a different selection of meats flavors to choose from. I ordered the Black Pepper Jerky, the Original Jerky, as well as the Spicy Jerky as well. Oh, I also got the Bacon Jerky too. The first thing that really stood out was the tenderness of the meat. It's so good. It's savory, its salty, its sweet. You kinda have all of that encompassed into the jerky, and you also get a good bang for your buck for the amount you get which I think is worth it. Tried it to see what the hip was about it. No one was at the counter. The 2 workers stayed in the back. I tried all the beef regular and spicy and pork regular and spicy and even the pork belly both spicy and non spicy jerky they had cause there were no samples. So I had to buy all flavors and meat to try them out. They all were greasy. I have better beef and pork jerky for a better price. For the price was expensive and not much jerky. Now that I've finally visited Fragrant Jerky, there's no turning back. I've had it bookmarked forever and finally visited to share some with my family. This type of jerky is sweet, sticky, and savory. The spicy versions are subtle and build at the end. While I wanted to buy everything, we opted to try the spicy beef, pepper beef, soft pork, and spicy pork bacon. I have only opened and tried 2. But so far I'm happy! My family (reluctant to go initially) now want to return to take back a few bags as gifts from CA. We tried the following: Soft pork (5/5) the pork is sweet yet savory, and soft but not mushy Spicy pork bacon (5/5) if you like fatty pork, this one delivers. The spicy taste is not apparent until the end as it finishes spicy. This is a small shop that has only a glass case showcasing the various jerky options. All are sold by the 1/4 lb, 1/2 lb, 1 lb, and prices are clearly marked. You have the option of leaving pieces whole or have the jerky cut (except bacon types). I left the pieces whole because I prefer cutting it myself (with kitchen scissors). But now I'm curious how the cut version looks. Service is efficient. The jerky is packaged in resealable bags. It all looks very clean, neat, and presentable. Good for gifts. Parking is ample even though most stalls were taken. I'll definitely returning and will likely be back many times for myself and my family. Very interesting. All they have is jerky- beef jerky, pork jerky, and spicier versions. I heard about this on some podcast, raving about the Singaporean flavors. I don't see how you can go wrong with salty, sweet, and pork or beef. Of course this is delicious, and the texture is perfection. I just found it a little too concentrated to heat more than just a little bit at a time. It lasted me the week, but Alex only ate one bite and was done. When I was in the store, there was a very little on the display, but I noticed two large boxes of FedEx envelopes ready to go. They told me they do a thriving online shipping business. Unfortunately they couldn't tell me where any of the meat came from or much else. As tasty as all that sugar and salt was, the best jerky will always be my mom's homemade in the good old fashioned Florida summer sunshine. read more

Okay the original bacon is absolutely ridiculous. It's so freakin good it's unreal. Moist, chewy, sweet, fatty....just so good. And served warm as it should be. Both my parents grew up in Singapore and I remember standing in line for the jerky out there. People would wait in line for hours for the best place. So yummy. The original pork was pretty good. The spicy beef was good, the spicy seasoning on it made it very tasty which makes me really excited to try the spicy bacon next time. Highly recommend. read more

Ordered three other jerky to try, and they were the sweet bacon, the original and the spicy pork. the sweet bacon in the original pork where our favorites the spicy pork was a little too spicy for my taste, but good nonetheless. The staff was kind and helped us cut up the jerky before putting in the bag. Will definitely come back to buy more. We used to love this place, not anymore due to their poor customer service. FYI; There's a jerky place in the Great Wall Supermarket on Rosemead & Las Tunas. Their jerky is just as good, if not better. Best of all, better customer service! Give them a shot, you won't regret it. Husband came in second day in a row as soon as they open for the day to pick up some tender pork jerky. Tall guy with glasses (employee) told my husband someone bought the whole thing already so it's all sold out for the day. Okay, that's understandable. Told my husband to check back tomorrow (today). So this morning, he went in as soon as they open again, and guess what? Sold out again! By the way, the jerky was on display both days! Sold out to who? "Online orders" was what my husband was told. Husband asked when you'll have it again? "Don't know" was the answer. Absolutely no remorse whatsoever. You (tall one with glasses) knew this customer came in 2 days in a row, and you do nothing to try to make it right? Shame on you guys on customer service. Okay, this has got to be as close to Bee Cheng Hiang in Asia that we can get here! The one thing BF and I do not skimp on during our Korea and China trip last year was Bee Cheng Hiang's fresh jerky, as we could not bring this back to the States and we weren't sure if we can find an equivalent here in southern California. We found Fragrant Jerky on Yelp and crossed our fingers for the best. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and took our time debating what to try. No, we did not want to order one of every flavor and overwhelm ourselves. We picked up a quarter pound each ($6.95) of the original pork, tender pork, and original beef. They try to get you close to your desired weight, so our pieces ended up slightly over 0.25 lbs, all ranging in the $7ish range. They seal it up in a clear, resealable plastic pack. Our verdict is that while nothing beats the OG of Bee Cheng Hiang, BF and I may be satiated with hitting up Fragrant Jerky if we want some fresh and flavorful jerky. With the three we tried so far, we pick the original pork first, then a tie with tender pork (more sweet and moist than original pork) and original beef (meat is thicker and a bit tougher than pork). We paid by card, which was quick and easy. Free parking in the plaza. read more

Ok, we literally finished stuffing our faces at dim sum and drove by this place and literally pumped the brakes hard and went into the parking lot. The magnet that caught my eye - "Singapore Grilled Meat" and we knew it was a jerky place. Stopped in, ordered a quarter pound of the bacon and half a pound of the original pork. As we just finished eating, we're saving this for our snack later in the evening. Placed orders from Seattle. Unlike Singapore where every jerky shop is fighting to boost sales and authenticity, there is almost nothing to compare with in the United States. I will settle with what I get here. The jerky is considerably good if you follow the instructions to reheat it. Introduction: First off, I am not a fan of jerky. Reason being most conventional jerkies taste bland and generic: one can taste the spices on the jerky but not much else. The texture is analogous to that of old, hard-chewing leather. Having eaten various jerkies both of the non-Asian variety as well as Asian variety jerkies, my impression is as follows: non-Asian jerkies are the worst in terms of flavors and texture [yes, I have tried several that are deemed "good" and frankly, no, they're not]. Asian jerkies are slightly better in terms of their texture; one can at least tell they're chewing on a piece of meat albeit pass its prime. The jerkies at Fragrant Jerky are different: one can taste the quality of the meat and the texture is in a class of its own. It easily beats conventional jerkies both of the non-Asian and Asian varieties hands down. For me the quality of the jerkies at Fragrant Jerky is the gold standard other jerky selling establishments should look and aspire to in Los Angeles. Food: I tried their tender pork jerky and their spicy beef jerky and between the two, I prefer the latter because of the flavors and texture. Both textures are good but I prefer the texture and taste of beef more than pork. The texture of the jerkies is tender and moist: one can taste the quality of the meat as they're biting into and chewing on the jerky. The spices and thin coating of the marinade on top of the jerky compliments and accentuates the flavors of the meat. I highly recommend eating one or two strips of the jerkies when it's fresh and warm so as to do the jerkies justice: it's when the jerkies are the most tender and moist. This tiny little shop in a small plaza has been on my bookmarks for years. Only after I paid them a first visit did I regret not coming here sooner. But recently, I had lunch a couple of miles away, and it was on the way home. Inside, it's small. There are no seats ... only a glass display case showcasing their varieties of beef & pork jerky. But what sets this apart is everything is made in-house, fresh, 7 days a week. If you're lucky, the jerky is still warm when you buy it. If you ask, they will let you sample a small bite. I tried about 4 types and they were all delicious. They all have a nice tender yet chewy texture. The jerky starts off with a nice sweet flavor, and finishes with a subtle kick (if you get the spicy ones) They are sold by weight; 1/4 lb., 1/2 lb., or whole pound. and prices vary depending on what you choose. Prices are in line with good quality jerky, except these are fresh, and much better. After you make your choices, they offer to slice it for you (good idea) and package it in a sealed zip-loc type bag. According to the staff, it lasts about one week left in room temp., or up to one month in the fridge. As much as I wanted to buy every flavor they have, I also prefer to enjoy it fresh. This is a must visit spot to get a great jerky fixing. I come to this place every time I'm in town, it a must have. Average about $30 a 1 pound of jerky. But it's so addictive that a 1 pound doesn't last enough for 1 marvel movie. (This theory has been testing, I know) I personally get myself 3 lb of the pork tender, soft, sticky sweet and hint of smoke taste. They offer samples you can ask to try the selection of the jerky. This place is legit. Coming from Malaysia, bakkwa (or pork jerky) is a staple especially during Lunar New Year. Fragrant Jerky makes it just like it is back home. Real authentic stuff. If you're planning on trying for the first time, here's some tips. 1. Don't expect it to be like American jerky. Bakkwa is a lot more moist and is wayyy softer than normal jerky 2. High quality jerky, a bit pricey, but totally worth it! Fragrant Jerky has two locations, I usually go to the one in Rowland Heights cause it's closer to where I work. This is the first time I came to the Rosemead location. It's located in a small plaza behind Uhaul, if it weren't for the sign outside of the plaza, I wouldn't be able to find this place. Anyways, I love their jerky. I always order their spicy flavor pork jerky and they cut it for you. I also love their bacon jerky, it literally melts in your mouth, but it's super fatty (that's why it melts in your mouth). Worth the try though. Inside the store, there are clear plastic board separating the employees and the customers (for the health safety of the employee, of course!). You kind of have to half yell and try not to yell so you don't sound like you're yelling at the employee. Anyways, employees were nice, so 5 stars all the way. Not sure if I should be happy or sad that coworkers introduced me to Fragrant Jerky... happy that I now know of a place for really good jerky... or sad about my future cholesterol level since I plan on coming back... 4 stars overall! According to my coworkers, it's Singaporean jerky, and that it's made fresh in-house. Fragrant Jerky has some of the best jerky I've ever had, and no wonder my coworkers raved about the jerky! After sampling most of the selections, my top 3 choices in ranked order are the Bacon Jerky, Original Pork Jerky and the Spicy Bacon Jerky. All of them are super delicious and full of flavor, and my top choice, the Bacon Jerky, is definitely out of this world fatty goodness! Yes, fragrant Jerky also has some beef selections, but the pork varieties were definitely more tender. The average price per pound for the jerky is around $30 or so, about the same price as pretty good jerky found on store shelves. Why just 4 stars... most of the jerkys come with a film of fat around them, especially the Bacon Jerky, and they may be too fatty for some. Bad experience, I went there today and a fly was flying in the glass case where they stored the Beef and Pork Jerky.... Yukey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dxmn fly was all over the jerkys.... If you stated the glass case warmer was turned up, the flies would have been dead once in contact with anything in it..... I saw the fly landed on all 5 plate of jerkies while I was there, the female worker instructed the male worker to kill the fly. Never in the conversation she said to male worker to throw away the contaminated jerky by the fly.....please don't lie.... Awesome freshly made beef and pork jerky! Very good quality and a good variety of flavors. I see them make it in the back and it nice and warm when you taste it. I almost tried everything. They are very good about allowing you to try each jerky. No questions or attitude. I felt bad trying so many but I wanted to pick the right ones since they are on the pricey side - $24-25 per pound. ~$12 for half pound and ~$6 for quarter pound. You can ask them to cut them into small pieces before packing so you don't have to work so hard later. They all come in a separate zip locked bags. The original pork jerky was a little plain but still very good. I like the spicy pork jerky more. The tender pork jerky is a mix of original pork and bacon jerky. It's a little more fatty which made it more flavorful. The spicy bacon was good and had a spicy kick. I thought this was more spicy than the spicy pork jerky. I usually like pork jerky more but I really liked their black pepper beef jerky so I got half a pound too! Definitely pricey but worthy of the quality. I've been waiting for something like this to open in LA. I see this type of jerky shops all over Asia but the quality here seemed even better. Only complain is I wish they slightly burnt the jerky to give it a char taste which I love in beef and pork jerky. read more
