10/31/25 Friday Came with a group for dinner on Halloween night so unsurprisingly, it was completely empty except for us. They have an extensive menu as they serve both Thai and Indonesian food. I would say maybe some dishes are even beyond that extending to other southeast Asian regions. I ordered a beef curry soup/stew dish. It was delicious and comforting. It comes with rice and shrimp chips. My partner ordered seafood fried rice and this was surprisingly good as well. Our party ordered so many different dishes and the restaurant still delivered. Normally I avoid restaurants with too long of a menu because I feel like they're doing too much, but this one somehow pulls it off. They also have southeast Asian snacks and foods for sale on the side too, making it feel like a mini grocery store too. We came cold and starving so I'm glad the food came out quick and piping hot. Parking is plentiful. I'd definitely return when I'm craving authentic Indonesian/Thai/Malaysian food. read more

Food :4 Ambiance: 4 Mom and pop cafe that is mostly Indonesian but we ate the Thai food! The spicy cat fish was spot on. The curry was a bit too thick. It was a cross between Thai and Indonesian. I had this restaurant bookmarked for quite some time and finally got to try this restaurant two Saturdays ago. What initially made me bookmark this restaurant on Yelp was for the food itself (I am a big fan of curry laska) and also the outdoor dog friendly seating that also happens to be covered (which is nice when it's sunny). I went inside to let an employee know that we would like to eat outside, while my husband and our little girl dog were outside. The employee brought us menus. After we looked them over, we ended up ordering: #18, Mixed Rice/ Nasi Campur, $16.95 prior to tax- My husband ordered this dish. The dish came with 5 different types of proteins (chicken, crispy pork, Chinese sausage, barbeque pork and a hard boiled egg that is sliced in half) that is served on top of a bed of rice. It also comes with a small bowl of soup as well. I thought the barbeque pork was pretty good and well seasoned and flavored. But I didn't try the other items. My husband liked this dish but thought it was kind of odd that this dish had Chinese sausage because usually he has had that mixed in a dish or a side (such as sticky rice or clay pot rice dishes, etc) and not served like this by itself as a protein. #17 Curry Laksa/ Laksa Kari, $14.95 prior to tax- I ordered this dish and really liked it. But I did find it to be a little too spicy for me, as the spice lingered (I am not much of a spicy eater and my husband thought it was not spicy at all). This dish was was served with rice noodle, tofu, fish cakes and shrimp. I thought the dish was filling and really was a fair share to share. -------------------------------- (Total= $39.25 after tax + tip) Service was friendly and prompt. 3.5 stars for me. Came here with my family. We ordered calamari and fried chicken for the appetizer. The calamari was ok. Fried chicken had a lot of spices, but weirdly didn't have a lot of flavor and wasn't crispy. I ordered the beef ball soup. The flavor was a bit bland. The meatballs and tofu was what I expected. My family ordered a lot of other dishes like the Jump noodles, fried rice, pad see ew, laksa and some others. Most of the dishes needed more flavor, but if you like spicy then it may be good. It's a family-owned restaurant with a small market with snacks and other Indonesian goodies. The Choi pan (steamed dumplings) were different but tasty slightly crunchy and flavorful. Our favorite dish was the Nasi Campur (mixed rice). Each meat was cooked to perfection and so tasty. Our party of 11 was taken in for dinner close to last call but they were accommodating and served up all our orders very quickly. My mixed rice has a tasty spread of proteins. The crispy pork had the perfect bite- not teeth breaking hard and not too much fat, it was rendered perfectly! Parking was fairly easy on a Monday afternoon, and we ordered Nasi Padang, Nasi Lemak, Crispy Fried Chicken, and an Es Doger, more than enough food for two people. The staff member who served us was extremely informative and worked with us to the dishes: - Nasi Padang - juicy chicken, a mean beef rendang (though on the drier side), nestled next to portion of curry, homemade chili, and a hardboiled egg. That green chili sauce was GOOD! - Nasi Lemak - a similar dish, though substitute the juicy chicken for crisp prawns, and the green chili sauce for some anchovies and peanuts. The anchovies were fun to snack at, though got old fast - perhaps meant to be eaten with rice. Crispy Fried Chicken - a nice crispy outside with warm inside. Overall was fairly bland without the sweet and sour sauce which was too strong. Es Doger - Never had jack fruit, but, but the cassava with their sweet, black rice were delicious! I'm generally not a fan of desserts but would easily order this again. My only dislikes were the dry beef rendang, bland-ish fried chicken, and being talked out of the nasi kuning (really wanted to try that yellow rice). I liked the curry laksa a lot better in person, as this bowl was rich and had lots of goodies (shrimp, fish cake, tea egg, tofu puffs). Only noted that there was a ton of bean sprouts, a little too much for my liking, but overall, a very good laksa. Family members had various dishes that they said they enjoyed. We were a large group of 10 and I would say the kitchen hauled butt to get our order out in a timely manner, as I felt like we didn't wait too long. I've been a big fan of Borneo eatery and Ipoh and was excited to find a good Indonesian spot so close and with good ratings. Came for weekday lunch and they have a fairly large seating area that is good but not particularly notable. Love the family run atmosphere, lots of chatter in native languages and seemingly good relationships with customers. Their menu is massive and all looks good. I got the Curry with popcorn chicken and while it wasn't bad, it wasn't particularly good. The soup I wish had a bit more flavor to it and noodles were fine. It maybe that I just didn't get the right thing or it was a one off, but Borneo eatery somehow always hits no matter what I get. The coconut rice is where its at and overall everything else was good. (4.5/5) Nasi Capcai - Basically rice with vegetable & seafood in gravy sauce. It's good and tasted healthy. I enjoyed it. (4/5) Ong Choy - I was surprised that I really enjoyed this. Flavors were strong but so good. Vegetables were fresh. Would recommend even though its a bit pricey. (4.5/5) We ended up ordering an extra side of coconut rice and it was $3, thought that wasn't bad at all. Overall, if you want Indonesian food I feel this place is very good for a reasonable price. We ordered nasi lamek with popcorn chicken, nasi kuning with fried squid, and pork belly skewers to go. While waiting for my food, the cashier lady recommended a special Indonesian drink. I asked for minimal sugar to be added and it was perfect. I live in San Diego so it was a long drive, but the food survived and the meats stayed moist as if i was eating at the restaurant. The rice dishes were absolutely delicious. The rice was adequately seasoned, the fried proteins were still crispy, and the anchovy, roasted peanuts, and sambal complimented the dishes perfectly.
