This piece of sh*t didn't let me inside the club when I was there for Halloween night. We got here at 9:45, then we went out for a smoke and security was acting weird and was rude. They kept touching me and I have to go to the police tomorrow since they took my ID. It still makes me mad about the whole situation with my Id and not letting me inside. After talking with the manager they never showed up after like 20 or 30 minuets. It ruined my whole night ! read more

Clerys - On the right - Bars Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I live and work right by Clerys and it is the truest neighborhood bar, for all times of day, so I figured I'd review them all: Weekday Lunch: have come for team lunches with coworkers multiple times. The service is always fast, and the shortrib grilled cheese is a fan favorite! Happy Hour: they don't have any happy hour specials, but this place gets PACKED between 5-7 on Thursday/Friday. Be prepared for standing room at the bar. Always a fun time. Trivia nights: Clerys has trivia on Wednesday evenings, but it is not as organized as other restaurants in the area. It is really loud and the people who run the trivia sit inconvenient to the bar. Probably would not come back to trivia here. Late night/weekend nights: dancing in the basement is fun, but know that it would be tons of young adults, and take it for what it is. Great that there is no cover, but that is offset by the bud light soaked floor and uncleaned restrooms. Brunch: pretty good food, but is never fully clean from the night before, and can be slow. I think their next door neighbor, Brownstone, is a better brunch option. All in, Clerys is great and reliable, just set your expectations accordingly depending on what you're heading there for! read more

I always have a great time when I go to Cleary's, but I'll now reconsider because of the treatment my friends and I got from the manager. There was a man sitting alone and the bar who was harassing and taking pictures of us. We asked him to stop which only made this worse. I slipped away to ask the hostess for help so she got the manager to go speak to him. Unfortunately, it became clear that the manager and this man were buddies and the manager completely dismissed our concerns. This man has been reported before and is known to many as being rude to those around him. Pretty disappointing that the manager prioritizes his pals over the safety and comfort of women in his establishment. read more

Yup, figured this place would have a low rating and shocker, it does! Worst wine pours ever, slow service and the rudest bartenders who think that they're far superior to everyone else. Avoid at all costs. read more

Overall, an okay place to get breakfast if you need somewhere decent and outdoors. Back Bay Hash was a solid dish, the corned beef was quite tasty. Pork Benedict was also a pleasant surprise, and tasted exactly as the description entailed (a little heavy though). However I would not recommend the avocado toast thought. It was fine, but it was on a very thick bread that isn't quite suitable for avocado toast. You're not missing out on much here. read more

This used to be our local spot and unfortunately it's gone really downhill. Hostess was unfriendly and discouraging. We waited 20 minutes for our server to show up and decided to leave when nobody came. read more

Table service = slow Bar service = surprisingly fast Prices = decent Food = very good Crowd = lively I came here at 3 pm with a group of friends on Saturday after the brunch rush. We were seated next to the ceiling-to-floor windows and enjoyed the fresh air throughout the day. Our server was a little slow, but the food was fantastic. I ordered the Nachos with Chicken and the Buffalo Chicken Sammy (the chicken was 3x bigger than the bun - impressive). My friends ordered Wings and Burgers, and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. When we couldn't get our server's attention, we ordered directly from the bar with no problem at all. read more

Amazing service from both the waitstaff and the bartenders. Me and my friends came in and got sat very quickly regardless of our large group, food was absolutely delicious and came out really quick (definitely recommend the nachos). We ended up at the bar afterwards and the bartenders were quick and efficient, and make a perfect margarita. read more

You know the kind of places which say "Oh, we're a bar but we do food too?". Well Clery's is that kind of a place. Cozying up to downtown with french windows and its pub like atmosphere, Clery's happened to be one of the watering holes for a couple of us at a local conference. On what seemed like a typical Friday night, we waltzed in around 8ish seeking a table, drinks and some food. We were seated immediately and plied with local booze with much swiftness. I had the chicken sammy, a fried chicken sandwich served with fries. It was ok, pub food, fried yet luke warm, neither tender nor tough, sustaining but not satisfying. Our table had fish tacos, lobster rolls and couple of pints. The food is pricey, but it goes with the neighborhood I guess. The service was great, the ambiance degraded over the night into a swarm of indistinguishable noise as the windows were closed and younger night people ushered in. No less nor no more than you would expect when you step in here. Nights they have a bouncer up front and a late night pub vibe, so expect the usual, plastic cups and all. read more

Thieves. Plain and simple. Ex-regular who was a part of a group who were all charged for 10 drinks each- wed each be on the floor if we had 10 drinks each. When we asked for it to be corrected the response was "oh you are drunk". The waiter refused to adjust stating "I'm sober". We told them we worked across the street and they didn't care. Pathetic Swine. Oh and their food isn't fit for dogs. read more

Yikes! Had an pretty insane experience here after years of coming without any drama. This was around 6:00PM. Walked in, ordered two drinks, then the bartender walked away without charging me. I waited several minutes trying to get his attention before eventually giving up. I was talking to my friends within arms reach of the bar when I was hailed by the bartender. I readily paid for my drinks, and apologized, but he told me "never walk away from me again, kid." I was then charged for three drinks instead of two. When I asked, the bartender became visibly upset and started cursing at me. I was holding one drink, and my roommate was holding the other. There was clearly not a third drink. He then aggressively gave me a third one and assured me "karma is a fucking bitch." I was trying to calmly say I promise we didn't order a third drink. If he was so certain we did, please don't give us a third one. He then started screaming at me, telling me to "go pound sand" and "get the fuck out of my bar." It attracted the attention of the entire back room. Very rattling. Needless to say, I stepped away from the bar and had my roommate order drinks for the rest of the night. Very strange indeed. I won't be returning. read more

Average bar to get with friends or sit down for dinner. We came to watch the NFL playoffs and drink beer which was great. We did get some food as well. --Service was below average as the waitress was eating and talking to her friends rather than attending up on a timely basis.-- 1. Wings - Average taste and size, nothing impressive but nothing really bad either 2. Loaded nachos - Good size for splitting among 3-4 people. We got chicken on the nachos but it tasted like average chopped up cold chicken. There's definitely better nachos out there. 3. Cheese pizza - Average as well, nothing impressive. Overall, I'd come back only if friends are coming back here to hang out or watch a game. read more

On Friday's at 5PM you can often spot a stampede of my coworkers and I charging down the street and ready to take over this place. In an effort to keep things simple there are a few telltale signs that Cleary's is devilishly out to destroy peoples liver because their drinks are strong. 1) You don't remember leaving or what time you left 2) You wake up on your couch in work clothes (jacket zipped up and everything!!!) 3) Your head is pounding 4) Your credit card is still at the bar 5) The only thing you do remember about the end of the night is a cabby trying to give you the boot out of his cab on the middle of 93 for puking out the window. Listen cabby, at least I puked out your window and not in your back seat, ass. There may be more but that is all I can remember. Time to go grab my card and see the damage. read more

Didn't have Sam summer. Only had Worcester beer. Basement kinda smelled bad. Also was overheating. But still kinda fun tho.

avoid the place is never open. They advertise on IG that they are open on Sunday but this is clearly a lie.

Our visit to Clery's was not fun. The bartenders were so not accommodating and or cordial and they made drinks to get you wasted and charged twice as much as a regular drink. It definitely didn't help that we came for a Friday. We initially utilized our skills of getting in by coming before ten and not having to wait in line for hours. It's so conducive to bars like Clery's to strive to be a club and taking it to the extreme by playing deafening music by 16-year-old Miley Cyrus. The music was exactly what I wouldn't want to dance to. I dragged my feet in my tiny space while guys and girls nearby grinded and flirted. Even a couple of hours here will frustrate you from one of the most rejuvenating days of the week. If your friends invite you out and you get dragged to go. Plan an escape. read more

Horrible service and below average food. Everyone working there was worthless--from the host to the server to the bartender. Server went outside for about 20mins to talk on the phone. Asked other server to assist and he did nothing. Bartender said he just started working yesterday so couldn't get us a drink. It was almost like we were being punked. Pizza was greasy but did taste good. Wings were decent. But everything very overpriced for what we got and the atmosphere and service read more

sorry but this place either has serious attitude, incompetent staff, and/or does NOT want to make money. probably a combination of 1 & 2. as a business and given the other properties owned & managed by the parent company i'm guessing they need customers. I went for lunch off hour around 1:45pm midweek. about 7 people at the bar: another 6-7 eating/drinking at tables. sat myself down. caught the eye of the ONE bartender and ZERO wait staff. never came over w menu or anything after waiting 20 minutes. so I left. too bad. was scouting the place for personal entertaining & potential company social events. they can kiss my business, and those I influence goodbye. plenty of other great options nearby. poor management. read more

Hungry friends, please read all of the reviews before heading out here. I could not find anything special about Clery's. I mean, they do have three awkwardly distinct rooms (I like to pretend three Clery brothers were trying to decide what would be best, so they just did it all). The food was nothing special. I ordered a reuben sandwich and I really expected my socks to be knocked off. Nope. The french fries, however, weren't awful. I guess what I am trying to say is that everything here is "meh, I've had better." Locationwise, I'm a fan. Clery's is located right down the street from Back Bay Station on Dartmouth and Columbus. I found the service to be sub-par. My waitress was super slow and didn't have that friendly thing going on. Maybe she doesn't need to work for her tips? Who knows. I also felt a little bit of a bro vibe coming on from half of the restaurant (but, honestly, no one can fix that). read more

As someone who worked in the service industry, I NEVER write bad reviews. I went with my boyfriend for trivia. We arrived nearly an hour early and I asked the hostess if they were still doing trivia. She said yes. The room behind us was completely empty - maybe one or two tables filled- and when she sat us at a table across from the loud very busy bar I asked if this was the area for trivia. She said yes. It took 16 minutes for a waitress to get to us. We couldn't talk because it was too loud, I didn't think much of this because I understood we were at a bar. We figured we were in the right area and it would quiet down at 7pm. Trivia starts and the host was in the then empty, and still very quiet but now full room I saw when we came in. We couldn't hear a single question. I asked the hostess if we could move and she shrugged and said no it was full. If my food hadn't come out then I would have just left. It was also impossible to find our waitress at any given time. I'd also add the hostess was handling food and drinks while wearing an oversized hoodie and carrying things with her sleeves that were too long. Doesn't seem clean. All in all, if I wanted to get beer spilled on me and have people yelling in my ear all night I would have went to a party. read more

Let me say right away -- don't order the $16 pizza. It tastes like ready-made: very oily cheese and a soggy flat crust. Nobody in my family wanted a second piece. OTOH, the shrimp quinoa salad was excellent. The Cobb salad was very atypical with hardly anything on it. Good salad greens tho. Good service. We went there for lunch but I don't know if we'll be back. read more

You know what, we were heading over to the Amtrak from BMC and looking for a place to eat that was close enough to the station that we could just run down the block. It's always a bitter sweet moment dropping off my boo at the train station, so the last thing we need is a crappy meal. Now, we had fastfood burgers at the place that's attached to the station, which weren't bad, but not what we were looking for. So, we came here. Bright light, sitting in the sun. Quickly attended to. When we said that we had a train to catch, the waiter was able to bring out our drinks, the check, and bring over some take out boxes in case we needed to run. Fiance got the burger and I got some quinoa salad bowl thingy with salmon. YO, the salmon was fire. Like, it was surprisingly good and the burger tasted flame grilled. Honestly, it was such a surprisingly good meal that we gobbled it up and had PLENTY of time to make the train. They also made me some virgin beverage which was tasty as all get out. Loved it. We will be happy to make this our regular pre-train meal place. read more

I came in on a Friday afternoon to grab a beer with a couple of friends. If you're looking to fall off the wagon in a dark and dirty bar don't come here. Sunshine coming through the wall length windows gives the place a lively atmosphere. The beer selection was very normal--nothing special but reasonably priced and they have all the standards. The service was good. Friendly staff who weren't intrusive but easily attainable when you wanted another drink. Overall nothing special but I would definitely go back. read more

My go-to place for a no fuss bar with dance floor. Nothing fancy. Just a fun place to go out with friends without some of the drawbacks of other Boston bars and clubs. NO COVER. Reasonably-priced drinks. No Ed Hardy douchey-ness. And I don't have to dress up and stumble around in heels! Too many bruised knees have occurred when mixing alcohol, heels and the uneven brick sidewalks of Boston. -1 star for the annoying line to get INSIDE (sometimes it seems like they just want to look like a happenin' place to be) and then to go DOWNSTAIRS for the dance floor. Try to get there before 10 to get to the bar quicker. read more

The short rib with onions grilled cheese ($13, +$1 for side of tots) was amazing! They probably added a ton of butter to that bread but who cares! Noms. I'll eat a salad later to balance it out. They give you a lot of tots for the additional $1. My friend and I went there around 8:30pm on a Saturday night. It was pretty empty and our food came out quickly. I didn't catch the bartender's name but she was nice! I've been to Clery's a couple of times and honestly, it's your typical bar. The place starts getting packed around 10pm (usually there's a line). Average priced drinks, loud music, and even a downstairs section for dancing. It's conveniently located in the Back Bay area for quick drinks after work. But not convenient for parking. There are surrounding meter spots and scattered amounts of visitor parking within the residents parking area. If you're lucky you'll snag a spot right across from Clery's on Dartmouth St. Non-resident meter parking on Saturday and Sundays. Back Bay orange line station is also one block up Dartmouth. read more

We went there for brunch this past weekend and loved the food we got! There's something for everyone; Nutella donuts and cookies and cream waffle for a "sweet" brunch lover and egg dishes and breakfast sandwiches for the saltier fan. The service was quick and we got to sit near the windows, which were open on a beautiful day. It's right near both Back Bay and the South End, so it's easy to get to from many neighborhoods. This place is great for a group or just a date brunch. We definitely suggest any dish with their home fries, the cookies and cream waffles, and you can't leave without getting their Nutella Donuts which were cinnamon sugar dusted donuts, drizzled with Nutella and rainbow sprinkles. Check this place out for brunch! read more

Once upon a time, this was a small, fun, great, neighborhood bar. Sadly it has morphed into a mega-bar (kind of like a science fiction movie; what was it that The Hulk fell into? Toxic waste? I've been here twice now for a sit-down/drink and both times were pretty good! This place can get really crowded on Friday and Saturday nights (with lines stretching and wrapping around the building!) from what I can see, but if you come during the middle of the week, it's bustling yet comfortable. During my most recent visit, my friends and I ordered their truffle tots to snack on while catching up over drinks. They were crispy, perfectly fried, and generously drizzled with a spicy sauce alongside handfuls of red pepper flakes and scallions as garnish. It's not as spicy as it sounds- it's very flavorful! However, it was a little pricy for what we got. I'd definitely recommend their margaritas because they're sweet and not very strong and worth the price. They also offer interesting cocktails (I got the Being Basic cocktail and it was decent! I'm not a big fan of club soda, though, as I quickly found out) and a long beer menu. Our waitress was super nice and patient when my friends and I were deciding on drinks. She was also upbeat! The people at the front, however, were less friendly but that didn't ruin the experience for us. read more

I've been to Clery's for dinner and for drinks. I was with a large group to celebrate a friend's birthday recently. We spent most of the evening downstairs where they have a DJ/dancing and multiple bars. That was a good time, although the DJ could have been better and there weren't many areas to sit. I went again last weekend with a large group for dinner to stop for food while in the middle of a pub crawl. Our waitress handled the group well, and our food was awesome. I didn't hear any complaints. I had the buffalo chicken pizza, which was delicious. It was also priced right and the portion was good for dinner (1-2 people). read more

Great place if you enjoy long lines and expensive drinks. Went on Saturday night around 10pm and it was busy as expected. The line for a drink took about 15-20 minutes and was $23 for two mixed drinks. I don't mind paying but $23 after waiting for 20 minutes is not appealing. I've been coming to this bar with the UGA Alumni Association this season to watch the Georgia games, and, without a doubt, Rob, Justin, Toby and Alex are the best. They're attentive, thoughtful and downright impressive with their hustle to remember names and keep people topped off at all times. Overall, their professionalism and attentiveness makes my experience at Clery's enjoyable, and I'm so grateful to employees like them that make a night with friends so easy and stress-free. This looks like a great bar for nighttime drinking. We were day drinking and bar hopping so I could see the different neighborhoods in Boston, but I hear that this place goes off at night. I can see why. It's decently sized, has TVs that are visible from every angle of the place, and the food is a step above decent (way more than you can ask for at a pub). Our waitress was incredibly honest when we asked about the ahi tuna. We were pondering it, but decided against the seared choice based on the waitresses honest reaction to the dish. I love honesty! We had their buffalo fried shrimp with blue cheese crumbles on top, which was awesome. It came with more shrimp than we had expected, and was a filling dish for 2! Their beer selection on tap was impressive as well. It's your average college town pub, with live music. read more

Recently went there with friends last Saturday. Overheard the barback refer to our table as a "bunch of nerds." Clearly stereotyping since the group was majority Asian and we had done nothing to warrant that comment other than order drinks. I'm born and raised in Boston and this type of racist stereotyping sucks. Especially when it comes from a bar that was my go-to post college being a UGA family. Granted I usually rolled with a group of white people so guess that's why this never happened before. read more

Stopped in for a quick, late lunch. We ordered fish tacos and fish & chips. The cod used in both is delivered daily from Chatham and it was perfectly cooked. This is good pub grub and after 10pm the downstairs turns into a nightclub. Not a fancy place; the waiter was polite, efficient, friendly and according to my dining partner; cute too. The floor could use a sweep, and someone left their gum under the wood molding but otherwise it was neat and clean. The menu on the website is more extensive than the one we were offered and there are a number of daily specials and week day lunch specials plus a full bar. The service was great, cheap drinks. We ordered a chicken burger and my sister got a tuna burger. The tuna burger is by far superior hands down. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place. It's such an indecision bar: -Where should we go? -I don't know. -What are you in the mood for? -I don't know. -::sigh:: Okay, I guess let's go to Clery's. It's that kind of place. Like, you want to go out, but no one can come up with anything, so Clery's. They have decent food -- love the sweet potato fries (but can't eat much else -- where did their veggie burger go?). The beer selection is solid. The dancefloor downstairs carries fond memories of the first time I made out with my friend Scott, which was predicated by his weird friend hitting on me and me trying to sidle up to Scott to prevent it. Add drinks and that equals teh makeouts! But, I digress. The decor's that nice wood and brick sort, the bathrooms are usually relatively clean, and when they open the windows in the spring, it's pretty awesome. But I can't give this place more than three stars, because it's so full of a-holes. It is. I mean, there is just a sea of douchebaggery upon entering, and sometimes you have to be Moses to try to get through it I'll probably still come here occasionally (although probably less now that I have discovered Coda and its magical cheap High Life), but that doesn't mean I will always like it. And there will always be that girl dressed in trendy crap that talks really loud and giggles and drives me insane, or the guy in the golf shirt who thinks everything he says is hilarious because of the giggling girl, but rest assured, bro, it is not. Anyway, three stars. read more

Solid bar food. Sat at the bar and were served quickly. I had the patty melt which included a well-cooked burger, fontina cheese, caramelized onions, and pickles, all on marbles rye. Messy but good.
