Two of my girlfriends and I were excited to try the newest jazz club/restaurant in the seaport, Grace by Nia. we've all been hearing such great things about it and finally got a reservation for Saturday night. After our night out, we all had mixed feelings about our experience. The interior is beautiful. It's classy and fun setting the scene for a nice vibe. service was nice but slow, we needed to flag down our waiter a couple times so we could order food. Some of the things we ordered were the fried catfish nuggets, braised oxtails, Mac and cheese and steak frites. Fried catfish bites were okay, the oxtail dish was tender but too sweet, Mac and cheese was standard and the steak was dry. I never mind paying top dollar for amazing dishes but these weren't it for us. Drinks were good though and the music was great. I'd suggest coming just to listen to a great live band and a nightcap. read more

Friday night date, and we decided to enjoy some live music. The environment was great! Swanky, nice little vibe, and pretty busy. A reservation is highly recommended. We were seated promptly. We ordered appetizers and drinks, and then our meal. Everything took a minute, but our server kept checking with us. Food was piping hot! The ribs were really good. We also ordered the fried chicken meal and a side of fries. Fries were good and the biscuit was delicious! The chicken...not so much. No flavor throughout the chicken at all! Very disappointing for $32.00. In addition $44-50 to park, unless you find street parking. The venue is great, but my meal was a no. I'd been better off just ordering the ribs and the biscuit. When ordering drinks, the server asked "sparkling or tap" without mentioning that the sparkling water would cost $14. It turned out to be Saratoga (which is good), but that price feels excessive--especially considering you can get a 12-pack for around $24 elsewhere. Loved the vibes of this place! Really nice staff who were very helpful. The the drinks were also really good but since its Seaport cocktails are around $20 so something to keep in mind! I had the jam session and it tasted like candy. Had to hold myself back from drinking it all in one go! Can't speak for the food since I only went for a drink. Finally got to experience Grace by Nia via an impromptu visit and it was quite the evening. As soon as you enter this bar the decor in is filled with gold palm trees and chandeliers giving it a Vegas feel. This place is very intimate and definitely fitting for date night. The performer of the evening was really good singing songs like 'loyalty' by Kendrick Lamar but still keeping it jazzy and moody. The crowd was also very interactive forming a dance train throughout the main floor and grabbing people as they went. It was all around fun! Unfortunately, the kitchen closed by the time we got there so I wasn't able to try any of their dishes however I ordered a French 75 which was made well. They are located on the same floor as the Alamo in Seaport which was also my first time visiting there! You enter through a blue door to the restaurant. Back to the food, I was here for their unlimited brunch which was pretty simple. You got the meats, the salad, the desert and waffles. I got to say the quality of the food was perfect and delicious. There was a consistency in that deliciousness which in my opinion is hard to obtain and what a lot of restaurants struggle with. My favorites were the grits, the catfish and the banana pudding. Seriously, I said the banana pudding was so great like 5 times. It was soft, warm and delicious. The brunch buffet is 55p per person and includes a welcome mimosa which is nice! I've been to Grace by Nia several times now and think that it has already established itself as a signature establishment in Seaport. From the thoughtfully designed dining room area to the live music performances, it stands out compared to plenty of places nearby. On my most recent visit, we came for Sunday brunch. We had a great table near the front, with a perfect view to the live entertainment. There was a band featuring a soulful singer named Antoinette, who was from Texas and brought some southern soul! We decided to have a carbfest, starting with the biscuits. They have FANTASTIC chicken & apple sausage in a spicy peach sauce! Get. The. Chicken.&. Apple. Sausage! Easily one of the best dishes I've had anywhere recently. The red velvet pancakes were cool but weren't huge on the red velvet taste. They also have nice cocktails with some inventive ingredients. I appreciate that Grace by Nia is the type of venue where people of all ages can have a good time. Unlike some other venues that rush you out after you've been seated for a certain time, we are always able to enjoy ourselves here. The lighting & decor was beautiful. The restroom however is outside of the restaurant, shared with movie goers. That night, we had Dreion as our entertainment, and I felt like the crowd didn't appreciate him as much as he could've been! Great singer & great energy! I feel like there's a lot of potential to Grace by Nia. Another downer was my friend and mom brought a cake for me for my bday dinner. Apparently it's a $12.50 cake cutting fee (PER SLICE! The restaurant is located on the third floor of the building. There's an escalator if you're coming from the street and elevator from the garage. I was nervous about coming solo so I called first and was encouraged to come early and sit at the bar. The restaurant is beautiful and a great place for intimate gatherings or romantic nights. I had the Jam session which was really nice, I also had the wings. Major plus that they were able to give me mostly flats for the wings. The band was amazing and sang some soulful hits. We were seated and given menus but waitstaff avoided us, I never got a chance to even be searched water as I waited for 20 minutes and no staff came past our table. However, I'm not paying to see a band play on TV. I came here to see a live show. That's hit one. Hit two was mistakingly thinking I might as well get a cocktail and make the best of it. Nope. Wait staff never came around to take our order. At some point, we gave up and left. I would love to actually experience Grace by Nia. It is a beautiful space, all things considered. But without seeing a performance or trying any of the menu, this was just a complete waste of my time. Had this place been upfront with me when I booked the reservation that there'd be no sight of the band, I'd have at least tempered my expectations or made an alternate evening plan. My initial visit was for a friend's birthday, and I had expected a vibe of R&B and blues. It was alright but nothing too great that made me want to snap uncontrollably. Regarding the service, our waitress was clearly overwhelmed, which was understandable given the venue's crowd. She informed us that the bar was backed up when we ordered drinks. The appetizers were decent, but we had issues with our main course. I specifically requested four orders of the Cajun pasta, but what we received was only one plate. Despite emphasizing our order, the waitress did not check back with us, and we had to follow up with the host and another waitress after a 20 minute wait. Additionally, my two friends were disappointed with their Caribbean Coolers. When they voiced their feedback, I was asked if I liked my drink, which felt unnecessary and surprising, as taste is subjective. Although she did remove the drinks from the bill, the question seemed out of place. Overall, this visit was a stark contrast to my first experience. It was my birthday dinner, and unfortunately, the pasta lacked seasoning and the overall service did not meet expectations. Outstanding concept! They pull-off the vibe of a supper club well. Didn't know that Boston needed a place where you could dress to the nines and enjoy some great jazz. Now it seems obvious. They have two seatings -- an earlier and later, so you'll need to decide where you want the evening to end. We were there most recently for their New Year's Eve celebration. The night flew by and the drinks and spicy deviled eggs were a hit (which they kept coming on both counts). If I had to give a note, their offerings on the entree side are slightly lacking. Although they don't have coat check which is inconvenient when it's 17 degrees out and you're at a bar or along the drink rail. Be mindful! The service wasn't overly warm or welcoming, but fine enough that nobody was rude. I will say the pregnant and presumably Asian waitress was really kind. I had such high hopes for the food. I'd heard so many great reviews about it. The mac and cheese was severely lacking in flavor, I doused it in pepper to make it more edible. And the cheese didn't really blend well or melt well so it was just unpleasant to eat. I didn't finish my meal. For the price, I expected way more. Pretty disappointing. If I ate here again I'd sacrifice the entertainment, which there's a fee for, and I'd have to try something safe on the menu. read more

NOT WORTH $20. I also tried THE JAM SESSION $18 which had Bacardi Tropical, Fresh Lime, Pink Guava, Guayaba Dulce. Had to return it! Absolutely unbearable drink. Are they taste testing these drinks they're serving?! The oxtail and grits for $36 was fatty and flavorless and had these beetlike/root veggies in it- thumbs down. I will say that the COCONUT GRITS were DELISH. I could've just had a bowl of grits. They give you a couple of very small scoops of grits. The fried catfish was REALLY GOOD- seasoned like they knew what they was doing, but the portion size is laughable. They skimping around here. $25 " entertainment fee" pp to sit by the stage $10 fee pp for non stage Idk if this fee is for reservations only, but it's not worth it. They seem like they have a lot of fun. 6. Food was good (it could be better) but we came for Brunch so don't know if they have a dinner menu or not but worth checking out. My grilled grapefruit was delish and so were our Buttermilk Biscuits. Cons: 1. Parking is always a nightmare in Boston, especially Seaport. There are plenty of parking garages but they are expensive. They mention on their website about parking (not far from the restaurant) and the cost was $42 for all day. 2. Expensive cocktails and menu.
