We stopped in here for drinks during a game and sat at the bar. It was pretty empty. Probably about 10 other patrons total. The bartender were friendly, but incredibly inattentive. I.e., we are sitting at the bar, without drinks, and they are just staring off into space, while you are trying to get their attention. But they weren't rude at all. We had dinner at Loretta's before going to see a show at MGM Music Hall, which is located across the street. We did not have a reservation but were fortunate enough to be seated fairly quickly. It is a crowded restaurant with many groups of people standing around so you do need to be comfortable with the occasional chair bump or feeling someone is standing over you. We didn't mind, but some people might. We ordered multiple dishes to share. Learn from us - the portions are huge and we ordered way too much food! Thankfully one of the dishes we ordered did not come out. Everything was good, and the cornbread was delicious. Our waitress was attentive and accommodating in getting us our check quickly so we could make the show. We did not stay for it, but they were advertising live music on Saturday night. I stopped in before a show at the House of Blues. It was just me so I sat at the bar. All the seats were full. Ordered my food right after a couple next to me and their food came out after a little while. My food took 10 to 15 minutes longer. Now that happens but I think 30 mins is a bit long to wait for your food to come out. That said, the chicken was very good and I felt $16 was reasonable for what you got. I added a side of collard greens and, while they were fine, I wish that I could taste a bit more vinegar. If you are looking for a reasonable place to eat, with good atmosphere, right near Fenway Park, you could do a lot worse. read more

Came here for the Monday night dance lessons / dancing. Let me tell you it's great and definitely worth it. Drinks are expensive but given the location it's to be expected. Didn't try the food but the food around us looked great and smelled good. It looked like good old fashioned bar food which is what you want. Service was prompt. No issues. I was so amazed by the food here, went in expecting typical bar food but was pleasantly surprised when it came out! We came here on a weekday night in search of an easy dinner, and we were seated right away. The music was loud, but the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. It didn't seem too busy around 7PM either. After ordering, it did take a little bit of time before the food finally came out, but it all came out at once. The portions were larger than I expected, but I'm grateful for that! We especially loved the brussels sprouts slathered in sweetness and cooked to perfection. If you're looking for a place with good eats, all around country vibes -- I'm talking everything from country music playing (both radio or live) to the entire wood interior, and a solid nightlife scene, Loretta's is your place. This was one of the top college bars back in my hay day and I can assure you that Loretta's delivers. I just went to a concert at the new MGM music hall across the street so we stopped by for a drink and food before it started. Worked out perfectly! We sat outside and could literally see the line build up while I munched on some steamy creamy Mac n cheese topped with some type of paprika spice. Never seen or really tasted anything like it before but hey I'm not complaining. New spin and new taste to my mac and cheese!! The fries were good but nothing special. No biggie. Fries are fries. I got the Front Porch Sweet Tea and it tasted like an elevated Peach flavored Snapple. Pretty good nice! They always have cool live bands playing here so in general would recommend coming here for food or a good time. read more

I want to be fair and I'm all about second chances, but not entirely sure I will take said chance here. I was out with a large group prior to Straight No Chaser concert at MGM Fenway next door. I see the allure of Loretta's location and probably if you're a beer drinker. Cocktails seem overly sweet and made from premade mixes. I've eaten plenty of pub fare and if you enjoy faux southern, it'll be fine for a quick bite. What doesn't happen to me often is getting sick in the middle of the night. I was the DD, so can't blame any booze. I was the only one who had the brisket sandwich. Did I burp through the entire concert? I did! Did I take a Pepto Bismal before bed? Yup! Do I usually do this after dining out? Never! The staff was lovely, servers were great, but imma have to stay away in the future. This place broke me. read more

This is a cool place to go by Fenway for the vibes. I love the country bar thing and it all comes together really well. The drinks are all very good with some heavy pours. Service was kind of slow but it looked like they were understaffed for the day. Next time I will probably skip the food. When I went I got the chicken and waffles which looked great. But the waffle was ok ish and the syrup or sauce was way too bitter for my taste. But overall I would go back for drinks if I'm in the area, or going to a weekend Sox game. read more

Back Door Donuts Boston Pop-Up: The back door donuts were a great way to end a long night out in Boston. As the name suggests it's a small hole in the wall type shop , so no seating which is a bummer especially in winter , but the donuts were worth the wait . I visit Loretta's for line dancing. It is NOT WORTH IT. Especially not as a queer person. They do not like us. it hasn't been fun a single time I've gone. They overcrowd the building to the point there's no room on the dance floor. They are extremely unwelcoming to newcomers - everyone. The dj, the bartenders, the door staff, the regulars. Events are horribly organized - once they hosted a private birthday party on a night that they regularly host open line dancing and didn't tell a single customer - not even an Instagram post - until we arrived and got turned away at the door. Managed to get 2 seats at the bar before a concert at MGM. Drinks and food exceeded expectations. Loretta's Refresher was a delicious cocktail - great for a hot night. I had the spicy chicken croquettes which were tasty, not too bready or greasy. My friend had the smash burger which she said was great. We split a side of the maple bacon brussels sprouts (yum!). The bar was hopping, and while our bartender Anna was very busy, she managed to be attentive and even chat with us when she could. Live acoustic music added a nice back drop. read more

I went to Boston to celebrate a birthday with friends and we planned to start our night at this bar, but ended up staying until we went back to our Airbnb. When we arrived and after we got drinks, one of my friends told me she was hungry. We decided to look at their menu online and order food at the bar, which took a while to get anyone's attention. We actually thought the kitchen was closed, but since they claimed it was still open, we ordered anyways. Biggest regret of the entire weekend. We ordered Mac and cheese, corn bread, French fries, fried pickles and jalapeños, and hot chicken bites. I highly regret ordering any food at all, and I'll explain after I talk about the seating situation. While one of us ordered, I went to look for a booth. I was so happy to have come across an empty booth and immediately grabbed it as I figured this would be the only opportunity I'd get for a booth to eat at. Almost immediately after I sat down, some security guard came up to me and told me that I couldn't sit there. I had to ask him why, to which he stated that I couldn't sit past the barrier of the "stage" where the band was performing. I couldn't believe what I was being told, especially because I didn't even know who the band was and it wasn't like I was a threat to them in any way? I told him i just wanted to sit there to eat when my food came out and he made me get up. He walked me over to this big round table towards the front, asked how many people I was with, and grabbed 3 Ice cold metal chairs for us sit on. Eventually, a long high top table opened up for us to sit at. While we're sitting at the table waiting for our food, time keeps ticking and we were really starting to get upset. I had gone up to the bar to check what was going on about 2 or 3 times in the 35 minutes that we waited for our food that should've only taken 10 minutes as no one else was waiting for food at that time. I'm at the bar asking for an update when my friend came to tell me that the food came out, but that I won't be happy with any of it. I go back to the table and she informs me that all of the food is COLD. How can your service be SO bad that you leave your customers waiting over 30 minutes for their food to come out COLD? It's very obvious that the food was sitting out for at least 20-25 minutes prior to being served. I am very temperature sensitive and the only reason I ate any of the food is because they closed the kitchen after our food came out, so we couldn't send it back if we even wanted to(which I fully would have if I had the option). The chicken was pretty tasty, despite the fact that it was maybe lukewarm. The fried pickles and jalapeños were OK.... Especially because they were clearly not freshly cooked and were extremely salty. The fries were cold and mediocre. I didn't try the Mac and cheese or corn bread, but I was told that it was pretty lousy as well. Safe to say if I'm ever back here for a night out, I will never order food from them again. There's no excuse for taking 35 minutes to serve food and serving it legit cold. Very very upsetting after we read all these good reviews about their food. As for the band, considering this is supposed to be a country themed bar, the band was disappointing. They played all like emo rock music, pop rock, etc. What made me the most upset is when they would pretend they're going to play a song by the red hot chili peppers and then after playing a few notes, they'd stop and be like "oh I'm just kidding, we'll learn this song for next time!" When you're out to have a good time, part of that is the music played at the venue. If you're not capable of playing a specific song, then don't tease the crowd! They weren't awful and I do think they sounded decent, but it really bothered me that they wouldn't play certain songs and gave off weird vibes. I heard a ton of people in the crowd that were booing. I would never ever boo a performer, but it just goes to show that it wasn't just me who wasn't the biggest fan of the band that played on Saturday, December 4th. Overall, I did not have the greatest experience at this bar and I don't plan on returning. I did have fun with my friends, but I do think that my negative experience with the food and start sort of hindered my time out with my friends which is extremely disappointing. We were only in Boston for one night, so I do regret not bringing up the idea of bar hopping to find a better venue after they treated me pretty poorly and the food was not very good. read more

This chicken wasn't any of those. Popeyes and Kentucky Fried better than Loretta's... so why so bad? Cornbread dry and no corn flavor... how about some honey butter as option? I came here once to meet a friend for a few drinks and a bite before a Red Sox game. The service was good. A little slow and intermittent when we were sitting outside at a table but still very friendly. Inside while waiting around the bar for our table the service was pretty good. The bartenders were very attentive and quick. If you were close to the bar and made eye contact and raised your hand to any of them, they would make their way to you in a timely manner. I had two different types of drinks, the full moon and their lemonade cocktail with moonshine as well. They were both good but need to stir it up a bit just in case cause sometimes the first sip is all booze. The lemonade cocktail was my favorite of the two. I had the hot chicken sandwich which was delicious. The chicken was cooked great and it had just enough of a kick to it. The size was also pretty reasonable.
