Oh Wow! Hunter's kitchen, You are simply not what I expected!!!! The entertainment here is Amazing!!! Live Bands Rock!! I thought laid back, Sunday dinner, with some good soul food, but you give so much more. Thanks for the Amazing service too. We are a party of five friends visiting beantown looking for delicious soul food. Well we found it! For starters, me and my friend got your Amazing cornbread. Delicious skillet cooked cornbread with corn inside with a scoop of honey butter on top! Yes, the hit of the night. For entrees, Mary and I got the chicken sandwich, both with fries and a side of greens. Greens are spicy but delicious. PD and the Matriarch got fried chicken with greens and coleslaw. Sanders got the chicken and dumplings. Food is 10/10! Everything is good!

Great Southern fare! The Lambo's Gumbo was a delicious medley of Louisiana flavors and had a slight kick. The Chicken Mini Sliders (4 total) were a fusion of savory and sweet between biscuits that were wonderfully rich. Easily recommend!

Hunters might be my new favorite Southie spot! We were able to walk in at around 2 on a Sunday. We had the mini waffles, burnt end hash, and southern skillet. Incredible food. All of it was so good and not a bite was left on our plates. Service was attentive and quick. Atmosphere is very charming, cozy cabin vibe. Live music was just starting up as we were leaving. I will for sure be back!

I was a bit disappointed with my reservation, which, by the way, I highly recommend. My Valentine and I made reservations a week ago. We walked in and it was packed with a one man band, who was great but it was sooooo loud! They took us over to the window, looking out at the hardware store. It was like a little space to have more people. We were on stools. Not looking at each other. I went to the hostess and told her our situation. She gave us a few minutes then said that she had a table by the one man band. We didn't mind because it was so loud anywhere you sat. Lots of younger people. Which we didn't mind either. It is a fun place. We ordered drinks with an appetizer, Cowboy Steak. So tender and tasty!!! After a few more drinks, we decided to order our meals. It's 5:30 at this point. We didn't truly get seated until 4:30. The waitress said she had to check if we could order because with reservation seating, they give you 90 minutes? She worked it out so that we could stay. My Valentine ordered Gumbo...he loved it! I got chicken fried steak (ribeye) and it was delicious along with country mashed potatoes. It's not cheap but worth it. Parking is a bit tough. But all in all, it was about the food which I highly recommend.

First time at Hunters and really enjoyed it. The food was amazing 10/10. Everything was insanely flavorful and could tell how much thought goes into every dish. We got the kale salad, biscuits, Mac and cheese, chicken and dumplings, and HFC bowl. No notes, still dreaming about the Mac and cheese and biscuits. Fun vibe, love that you can see the chefs cook while you eat. Was able to reserve a table and service was fast. Super crowded bar on a Saturday night and very loud music/ambiance but fun people watching

The southern cooking and hospitality was really refreshing while visiting Boston for the first time. My bartender was pleasant and gave great reviews for all the dishes I requested. I also had two drinks and they were great. I would recommend this place to others when in town

The food at Hunter's Kitchen & Bar is amazing!! Everything I ate was a 10/10. We found this place on a whim while in Boston for a weekend. The place itself is very popular so I highly recommend making a reservation. FYI there is a $40 hold placed on your credit card to book a reservation. If you no show or cancel within 24 hours they will charge you. We had a reservation but we ended up sitting at the bar so we wouldn't have to wait. We started off with the fried pickles and the everything bagel biscuit bites. The butter they put on these biscuits is out of this world! The shrimp and grits were also another highlight of the day! This was probably the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. Overall, I was not disappointed with the food. However I am deducting 1 star because the atmosphere is pretty loud and gives college bar vibes, which isn't a bad thing, but does make it hard to enjoy a meal.

The meal I had was so delicious that I couldn't give this place anything less than five stars. The brisket and hash for brunch was a 10/10 packed with flavor and a generous size. The everything bagel biscuits were really good I loved the honey butter. The inside of this place is cozy and was perfect for the holiday spirit. The service wasn't bad but not the best didn't feel friendly but the food came out quick and there were no issues. Would definitely come back.

Came here for my birthday on April 1, 2023 and let me tell ya, the line was super long. It was my first time coming there but we had reservations for 12 but the parking situation was horrible but no fault to the restaurant. Took some of my family 30 min to find parking. So back to Hunters, I would have to say this isn't a kid friendly place. Our table for 12 was next to the fireplace and speakers which sucked but like I said I can't blame them for that. The service was amazing and so was the food. I also love country music so it didn't bother me lol. Now lets review the food: Popcorn chicken- This was a hit for the kids, very moist chicken and super good Chicken & Waffles- The chicken again was cooked to perfection and seasoned very well but the waffles was out of this world. Super tasty Gumbo- This was the highlight for me! This bad boy right here was amazing. The spice was perfect as well. I'll be back just without the kiddo next time..

He rearranged the table settings and got my friend and I a table for 2. Then our server came over and gave an overview of the place. We asked about the chilled red wine. He brought us 2 tastings. We loved. Proceeded to order 2 burgers, fries and grilled carrots. The food was amazing. Given the most welcoming greeting and service, coupled with delicious food, I could not recommend this place any more. Truly a gem in Southie!

You know when you're eating a kale salad and the pieces are too big and you're kind of cramming them into your mouth and then the salad dressing is all over your face? This is NOT that salad! The kale is perfectly chopped so you can enjoy it with just your fork as you talk to your friend/spouse/date or just read your book. The dressing is such perfection, and the perfect amount, no gloopiness here! Crunchy breadcrumbs add magical texture and then there's a shower of finely grated gouda cheese on top. Have you ever read a good book and as you're reading it, you're so into it that you don't want it to end? So you slow down your reading speed to make it last a little longer? That's how I feel about this salad. There are other delicious items on the menu, I saw someone eating the burger that looked so good, I also want to try the Brussels but the call of the salad siren is too strong. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly, especially Catherine, and the kitchen team even shared the dressing recipe with me. Excellent wine list, casual and cozy space with twinkle lights, a lot of bar/counter seating, great date spot. Also attached/sister company to American Provisions I believe (great spot in Southie for sandwiches, cheeses, wines, pastries, rare food items).

The ricotta toast was pretty and slightly sweet with fresh peas and pickled red onions. Arancini was deeply fried and delicious. Pizza margarita was perfect. Pasta was good but a bit overcooked. The space is undeniably beautiful with a feminine and Parisian design. Even on a packed night, the noise level was surprisingly manageable. A huge part of the vibe was our server, Cait. She was incredible. She managed to be attentive without hovering and was genuinely friendly. She made the night feel even more special. Here is the breakdown: * Charred Scallion Dip (4/5): Good portion for sharing with kettle chips but needs more onion flavor. * Prosciutto Arancini (3/5): $20 for four tiny balls is a tough sell so I would skip these. * Fried Artichokes (5/5): Actually the best appetizer we ordered. * Brussels Sprouts (4/5): The new hot honey prep is tasty but serving them on top of blue cheese made it a bit too busy. * Classic Caesar (5/5): Lot of anchovy flavor in the dressing makes this elite. * Butternut Squash Ravioli (6/10): very sweet. This is for you if your like sweet or want dessert. * Margherita Pizza (5/5): dough is fantastic they must make it from scratch and that stands out. * Sweet Sausage Pizza (5/5): Just as good as the margherita and proves the pizza program here is legit. * Skillet Cookie (5/5): You can never go wrong with a warm skillet cookie. * Palm Negroni (5/5): I wanted more coconut initially but the balance actually ends up being perfect. * Espresso Martini (4/5): Solid and not too sweet considering there is no actual espresso in it. * Eros Sour (5/5): Unique and balanced. The food is generally strong, but the pricing on some of the small plates feels off, especially that arancini. The pizzas are a real stand out. Bathroom Review: There are two single stall gender neutral restrooms with baby changing stations. They are very clean. Loved the floor tile and they stock high quality paper towels.
