Fried chicken sandwich and tater tots $18
    Joanie L.

Revisited Local 149 for the first time in a decade at least. Very crowded and loud at 7:30 but managed 3 seats at the bar. Competent service from a very busy bartender. We enjoyed our various drinks ($12 ea) and beers (tons of choices) and I thought the fried chicken sandwich was excellent. It was advertised as Nashville hot and there was none of that which I was fine with. Plentiful and excellent tater tots.

It's hard to go wrong with a trendy brunch place in Southie. This place was really good, great service and food, but I felt like it wasn't anything too special. I would definitely go back, but if you're visiting Boston, I recommend checking out other more unique places for brunch. Not pictured was the basic mimosa I got because it's not brunch without a mimosa. The most delicious part of the meal was the mac and cheese balls. They were amazing! I always need to try the place's mac and cheese and I love when the restaurant takes it to the next level, like a mac ball! I thought it was interesting that they served in on marinara sauce, I didn't think it would work well, but it actually did. We also got the breakfast tacos, which were basic and good, can't go wrong with that. And we also go the banana fosters french toast. This was really good, really sweet though so we couldn't finish it. Overall, good basic brunch and good food.

The food and service were good. The chicken sandwich was great and the wings were 10/10. The oysters and octopus were a little disappointing though

This is the first bad review I've written but I felt compelled because of how bad our food was. Here is a pic of my Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. A paper thin slice of chicken tendons on cold, dry, crumbly bread. A few pickles and a touch of special spicy aioli. Oh, and a small rind of romaine lettuce

Went here after a run around the area and decided to cancel out my whole workout by ordering the Fluffernutter and the chocolate cake. Got a Moscow mule to wash it down. The fluffernutter was heavy but good but the chocolate cake was amazing. The Moscow mule was AMAZING mainly because they make their ginger beer in-house so it's very different and SPICY. The staff was friendly although the interaction was minimal. The dining space is classic bar vibes. Overall would definitely go again for the Moscow mule. GET THE MOSCOW MULE. Overall: Food: 7/10 Drinks: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Price: 8/10

A really cute and fun-looking place very close to the water. We sat outside since it was a nice day, and were well distanced from other tables. The food was great! The home fries were amazing-super crispy and well seasoned. The tacos were not too heavy and a great way to start my morning. Only slight issue, recognizing these are hard times, was service was a bit slow. We didn't get water for a while, nor did anyone take our order for a while. This may have been a unique experience since we saw others served more promptly, but just my personal experience that day! A great place to check out, and definitely order something with home fries.

Our one food stop for Massachusetts. We heard about Boston's deep fried Fluffah Nutta and it did not disappoint. The cod was delicious with the yummy Parmesan sauce on top. My two older children loved their burgers (along with 5 options for potatoes - french, sweet, tot, waffle, mashed). Server was EXCELLENT in a friendly and fast way but not overly so. I would love to come back and try their other menu fares. I almost forgot the atmosphere is also entertaining. Okay, bumping it to 5 stars. They deserve it! Dine inside or outside or takeout right now.

Great service for Sunday brunch. Absolutely loved the girl dinner drink! The chicken nachos were a great starter and we both loved our meals. Very filling taking half home for lunch!

Came in on a rainy Friday and the place was jam packed - we immediately put our names in for a table and began huddling near the bar to grab a couple of stools. The place was packed with small groups and dates so knew this was the place to be on a Friday. We ordered a couple of beers and omg they were pricey - I understand that Maine Beer Co could be considered premium and limited in distribution but $10 for less than a pint is just kind of crazy to me.. We ended up waiting over 45 minutes and actually had to go back up to the hostess to remind her that we were waiting - there was a point where we noticed that there were a couple of tables vacant for more than 10 minutes and nobody else waiting for a table, so we were seated in one of those. Service was quick and friendly once we were seated. We had some time to look around and tacos seemed like the way to go so we each got the tacos and they were delish. We also caught a glimpse of someone's tater tot order and we had to get those too..definitely get the tots as an app. Bottom line is that the set up of the restaurant is cool, the beer is cold and the food is good so maybe give it a shot if you've got some time for a drink before dinner.

We stopped here for brunch today after a cancer walk down the street. The waitress was great while ordering and serving but then disappeared for a bit too long. The drinks and food were delicious. The home fries were great but had a little spice to it. It was odd that they were not able to do a side of hash though. It was a great find and a place to spot and try!

She was so excited when she found Cafe Bonjour because they had several gluten-free options on the menu. We took an Uber there right after we landed and were able to walk right in and get a table when they opened, which worked out perfectly because the place started to fill up! It's a cute little spot with plenty of seating inside, and they also had a nice outdoor parklet that would be great in good weather. We asked to sit at the bar so we could watch the cooks in action, which was really fun. The menu had all the classic breakfast favorites like eggs and French toast, along with some lunch options like hamburgers and chicken wraps. The staff was very friendly and attentive. My wife ordered the gluten-free eggs benedict and absolutely loved it. I had the Bonjour omelet, and it was delicious. Prior to visiting Boston, I did my research on things to do and places to eat. Every search for…read morebreakfast spots mentioned Mike & Patty's as a must stop for the best breakfast sandwich you're going to get anywhere. Enough said! I'm a huge breakfast fanatic, especially a good breakfast sandwich or burrito. This is the original location that was started by two friends and has grown to multiple other locations since. We took an Uber here from our hotel. I imagine if you drive over here, parking will be a challenge. It's almost easy to miss. It sits on a corner of a brick building with just writing on the windows. In all my research I did not catch that it is the smallest restaurant in Boston at only 175 square feet. It's basically a room with most of the space taken by the tiny kitchen. There's also a little tiny ledge on the window with a couple of stools for those who may want to dine in. Customers including us took turns walking in and putting in our orders and then stepping out to make room for more people. It had a steady line the whole time we were there. Hours are limited from 7:30-2 so don't delay. Customer service was straight business, kind of the norm in Boston. Their menu is breakfast sandwiches, a couple of burritos and some lunch options like a turkey sandwich, BLT, or a Rueben. For sides, they have hashbrowns or a plain English muffin. For a small menu, they do have quite a few drink options like coffee, tea, juices, and different flavored milks including banana milk which I have never seen. For their food, they use high quality ingredients from local farms and purveyors and have their own bakery for their bread. My eyes fixated on the Breakfast Grilled Crack mainly for the name, but also all the ingredients looked tasty. It was quality eggs, bacon, four cheeses on sourdough bread. I went extra and added sausage to it as well. I also got OJ to wash it down. We realized our only option to eat comfortably was to go back to our hotel lobby to eat. Even with the travel time, the sandwich was nice and warm and the bread was still nice and crispy from the griddle. This sandwich was indeed one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. I almost felt guilty eating it because of how rich and cheesy it was. I would skip the hash brown next time. It did not travel well nor did it have anything special going on with it. Hands down one of my favorite meals of the trip that I would absolutely do again if I am in the area.

The French toast was absolutely outstanding!! Easily one of the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, rich, and flavorful, it's a must-order and alone makes this place worth visiting. The huevos rancheros were decent, but not quite at the same level. They felt a bit less authentic than expected, and the hot sauce option was limited to Tabasco. I think a more traditional, homemade Mexican-style salsa would have elevated the dish significantly and made it shine. Because of that, I'm giving North Street Grille 4 stars. The French toast is phenomenal, and with a little more attention to authenticity on certain savory dishes, this spot could easily be a 5-star brunch destination. I'd definitely come back! Especially for the French toast.
