Dry rub St. Louis style Ribs
    Mike T.

We went in on Sunday night around 7:30. The place was empty except for one table so we just sat at the bar. The bartender was awesome. She was full of personality and went right into recommendations after we told her it was our first time. We started with the bucket of biscuits, and maybe it was just because it was the end of the night, but they were cool and kind of hard. I ordered the dry rub pork ribs with Cole slaw and Mac n cheese. The portions were decent with pretty good flavor. They offered three sauces all made in house which honestly were all pretty good. The restaurant itself had a great vibe. Very comfortable even for a larger group. I'd love to see it when they are busy.

Initially, the plan was to get takeout and grab a spot along the Charles River (cambridge side) for the July 4 fireworks. Usually we sit in the Esplanade but we wanted to try something different. A sudden downpour and thunderstorm & evacuation of the Esplanade changed that. We ducked into Sweet Cheeks, thankful to see available tables. We weren't greeted by anyone in particular and a server told us to sit wherever. We picked our meats and sides, and the server strongly recommended the mac n cheese and the pulled pork. I understand we are spoiled by Lil Barbecue & Grasslands in Oregon, but we really didn't expect to taste such bland BBQ here. The Mac n Cheese was the best thing we ate, only because it tasted like old skool Velveeta - not sure if there's any in it but the texture and taste was like childhood. The "famous" biscuit is worth skipping. Appearance wise it looked great! But it was cold and on the dry side. We still hold out hope to find decent BBQ in Boston. This just wasn't it for us.

I've been here many times and it is always reliable. Everyone likes it. Their biscuits are incredible. We also love their farm salad with farro, grapes, and hazelnuts. Employees are very friendly. Lots on the menu. It's a little cold in the winter sitting inside though. They do trivia nights and other events throughout the week.

We had lunch at Sweet Cheeks on Father's Day before the Red Sox game. Cool spot, nice atmosphere inside and out. I had Sliced Brisket, Pulled Pork, coleslaw, and potato salad. We also had a bucket of biscuits with butter and strawberry jam. Everything was outstanding. The brisket I think rivals some of the best I have had in Austin TX. I would definitely come back here.

We went to this place after the Sox game. Reservations were relatively easy to get. Atmosphere is casual, and the place gets busy and loud at peak hours, but it's a cool-looking spot. Our host and server were extremely nice and attentive, which really made the biggest impact on our experience. We ordered the bucket of biscuits appetizer, which is a popular item and a big standout: biscuits were fresh and warm, right out of the oven, and outstandingly good. The entrees were pretty good overall - I personally prefer ribs, and found them to be pretty tasty. The sliced brisket, another popular order, was also quite good with their homemade sauce.

Real deal Texas BBQ and southern staples. The service was outstanding, our server helped us out with recommendations. We started with the World-Famous buttermilk biscuit with honey butter, being for the south this was right up there with the best of the best biscuits and the honey butter was the kicker. Had to go with the fried chicken and it was a winner winner fried chicken dinner. My grandma from Georgia made iconic chicken this was close. The perfect crispy skin and juicy meat. You get four or eight pieces of perfect southern fried chicken. Being right down the road from Fenway park and having a sandwich called the Big Papi makes it a must try. Great call on this sandwich because it's out of the park goodness. Great smoked tender brisket with a tasty jalapeño cream cheese that took this the next level, add the crispy onions, pickles and pickled jalapeños for the perfect punch of flavor. The Cita's broccoli cheese casserole was lights out goodness with amazing flavor and texture. Very clean and well maintained place that welcomes everyone. I would say if you are close stop and check it out definitely worth it.

While Sweet Cheeks Q hasn't been around for quite as long as Fenway Park, it's still an institution! The barbecue here is just plain amazing. Our table of four had 4 amazing lunches including platters with tender sliced brisket, pork belly, pulled pork and pulled chicken, and fried chicken sandwich. Everyone raved about their meals! The biscuits are amazing and someday I won't end the meal stuffed so that we can have one of theie amazing desserts. The decor is classic BBQ joint with some huge tables for groups, big TVs, plus quite a number of outside tables. The staff was pretty busy, just what you'd expect on a Saturday afternoon, plus they were dealing with internet problems, but they performed well in spite of everything. The hostess did a super job helping me get a table reserved over the phone as well.

Absolutely amazing place for BBQ in the Fenway area, let alone Boston. I am in complete regret that I haven't tried this place sooner. My girlfriend and I stopped by for lunch on a Saturday without reservations, and were seated immediately. We started off the feast with some freshly baked biscuits and butter-- WOW. A must have for the table. They were so soft inside, crispy on the outside, and paired so well with the salted butter. For our entrees, we each ordered a BBQ meat and picked two sides. My girlfriend ordered the pulled chicken with potato salad and coleslaw. I ordered the St. Louis dry rub style ribs, Mac & cheese, and BBQ baked beans. The entrees were also WOW. Double WOW for the two, actually. My girlfriend's chicken was perfectly cooked and tender, and her potato salad was incredible. Some of the best I've had, comparable to the one you find at the Cape. The Coleslaw was okay objectively (though I've never been a huge fan), but was unique in its presentation, the veggies were chopped very largely. For my entree, the STL ribs were to die for, and fell off the bone seamlessly. The Mac & cheese was also great, super flavorful, cheesy, and I loved the breadcrumbs. The BBQ beans were also super great, and had chunks of pulled pork which were absolutely delicious. The entire meal was absolutely amazing, and I'd recommend for everyone to come here for BBQ if you're in the Fenway area!

When you live in RI, are binge watching Tournament of Champions and are heading to Boston... you head to Sweet Cheeks Q! Tiffani Faison's BBQ joint is the real deal. First off, sheik country vibe. LARGE mason jars of sweet tea (which were pretty tasty) and the Dolly Parton themed bathroom with a sticker machine?! Yes! Tiffani has won me over. Also- super cool that the TOC season 3 belt is here and on display. Then the food- The biscuits are large and in charge! Well worth getting and trying that honey butter. The pork belly was tasty but the real winner was the fried chicken! Super crispy but moist! Delicious! The pickles- what do they do to them? LOVED THEM! (We guess that there was mustard seed on them?) The mac and cheese was ok and the broccolini cheese casserole was tasty! Bottomline- I want to go back and try more on the menu. True score: 4.5 SHOUT OUT to our waiter Stevie- Super funny and informative! Thanks for a great visit!

    The GIANT beef short rib.
    Frank S.

My wife and I arrived early for our reservation, we were seated without any fuss. As an appetizer we ordered Texas nachos. An interesting and savory dish. There was enough for two on this plate and it could have served as a meal! I ordered the giant smoked short rib. When they say "giant" they were not kidding! There was so much meat that two hungry people could not barely finish the entree. Along with the entree came two sides. I ordered a baked potato that I could not touch and a dish of mac and cheese. Fortunately, I was able to sample the mac and cheese for it was great. Takeaways: 1. A meat lovers paradise. 2. A BBQ goers delight. 3. Superb service. 4. Excellent portion to price. 5. Please note: Some entrees are pricey. 6. Parking is difficult. - It's Boston. If you like the review or the photos, feel free to leave a comment. Please 'follow'.

Wow. Just wow. Awesome food. It's a fun atmosphere because it's right near the ballpark and you can sit inside or outside. We opted for inside and it was a bit loud, but nothing bad. The service was great. The waitress gave great recommendations and they didn't disappoint. All the choices were spot on and I would definitely recommend it!!

The shining star on the menu - homemade biscuits with honey butter and strawberry jam.

You might be asking why someone from Texas would try BBQ in Boston. After going there and spending $$$, I asked myself the same thing. I really wanted to like the food. We tried the pulled chicken, pulled pork, pork belly, macaroni and cheese, fried okra and baked beans. The good: -Mac and cheese - on point and super creamy -Pork belly - tender and flavorful -Biscuits - these were AMAZING! I would literally go back and just order the biscuits. Super fluffy and yummy The bad - everything else. The meats lacked flavor and smoke and the okra was still slimy.

I've been to Sweet Cheeks several times and have never seen halal food there nor have I seen it on the menu, unless it's something they prepare on request.

I'd say it's a comfortable meal for two with moderate appetites, especially if you get a bucket of biscuits to start (and really, that's a requirement).

On top of that, I was charged three times for the one drink I had. I spoke directly with the restaurant manager to get an explanation and resolve the issue. Instead of properly addressing why my original charge was changed and why I was charged multiple times for one drink, they tried to tell me that I was "too drunk." That explanation made absolutely no sense considering I only had one drink and then left. I am also requesting that the restaurant preserve and provide the security camera footage from the time I was there. The footage should clearly show that I only had one drink and may help verify exactly what happened. Being charged multiple times and then having the original charge changed is frustrating enough, but being given excuses instead of a straightforward explanation or resolution made the experience even worse. I recommend that anyone visiting carefully check their receipt and bank charges afterward. I assume the charge came from the group sitting at the table, which i was asked if i was with them and declined.

The burger was lacking flavor. It was supposed to be dusted with creole, which could not be detected. The onions on the burger were way over cooked and had zero flavor. The scallion aioli saved the burger to add some flavor. The onion rings were overly greasy and most of them were soggy. While the kitchen delivered a solid meal, the service was so profoundly disappointing that it completely overshadowed the food. The culinary side of things easily earns a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. We ordered a wide variety of items to share, and the highlights included: * The Pizzas: Creative flavor combinations with fresh, high-quality toppings and fantastic crusts. * The Bucatini Pasta: Perfectly cooked and packed with rich flavor. * The Asparagus Appetizer & The Chicken Milanese: Both executed well, flavorful, and cooked to a high standard. Unfortunately, the front-of-house experience was uniformly horrible. For a large party, hospitality can make or break the night, and our server missed the mark at every single turn: * Argumentative & Dismissive: He actively argued with our host regarding an appetizer that had been ordered in advance. When asked about vegetarian substitutions for a sold-out pasta dish, he curtly replied, "Pasta with butter is all we can do"--despite the fact that we could clearly see a wide variety of fresh vegetables being used right on their pizzas. * Inattentive: Dirty dishes piled up on our table, and when we politely asked for them to be cleared, he claimed he needed to get help and walked away completely empty-handed. Our drink orders were rarely checked on or refilled. * Rude to Guests: He displayed visible attitude and put-off body language whenever anyone asked a simple question. This peaked when he was outright rude to one of the young women in our party who simply wanted to put her order in a bit early because she had to leave before the rest of the group. It is a real shame because the ingredients and the kitchen's output are genuinely good. However, between the hostile attitude and the lack of basic service standards, we unfortunately won't be rushing back.

Let's start with the "Jamaican" patties. These were not patties. They were empanada-style, lacking the flaky crust, seasoning, and depth you expect from a true Jamaican beef or chicken patty. At $5 each, that's not just disappointing--it feels misleading. Then the soul food. This is where it really fell apart. The chicken was dry, under-seasoned, and surprisingly small--more like an afterthought than a centerpiece. Soul food should be rich, flavorful, and comforting. This wasn't! The greens were another miss. No depth, no richness, and completely lacking the traditional pot liquor that gives them their signature flavor. It felt like a stripped-down version of what should be a staple dish. The only bright spot was the candied yams--they actually had flavor and were enjoyable. What's frustrating is the gap between reputation and experience. When a place has awards and hype, you expect authenticity, quality, and consistency. This didn't deliver on any of that. Overall, I wouldn't return. There are too many places doing this food the right way to spend money here again.
