    Sweet & sour pork tender
    John Y.

This place used to be the old Eldo Tea House that sold pastries and cakes. This new place replaced a pretty legendary staple in Boston's Chinatown and I'm happy to say it does not disappoint! The restaurant seems to specialize in chinese BBQ meat as they sell several combinations of that up front. However, I was here because I've heard they have great fried rice! House Special Fried Rice - This is the reason you'll come here! It is the BEST fried rice I've ever had in my life. It has pork and shrimp chunks, and what appears to be eggs potentially mixed with shreaded squid? It at least gives off that texture vibe. The pork is not just any pork, it looks like the pork from the BBQ meat section, diced up. The shrimp is also diced up. It was just absolutely delicious! HIGHLY recommend it! They have pictures of it everywhere, so you can't miss it. Salt & Pepper pork chops - These were good, but did not stand out as much as the fried rice. They were fried perfectly and had good crisp to each piece. I wish it had more jalapenos. Sweet & sour pork - This was okay. I don't feel like the meat was that warm for a dish that just came out. The chunks of pork could also be a little more crispy for something deep fried prior to saucing...considering I dined in and ate it right as it landed. Flavors were what you'd expect. The cafe has a separate section on the side that has a few large tables and a few smaller tables. Hot tea was served for our dine in experience, and the waitresses were friendly. The place looked as clean as a place could look in Chinatown. Parking in Chinatown will always be a challenge, but not impossible. If there is one thing you do, go to Shoyu and order their house special fried rice and thank me later. Give my review a thumbs up if you tried it and love it like I do. I'm dreaming of my next order of it!

The BBQ crispy pork and the BBQ boneless spareribs was so good as always...lean, not salty and perfectly done. However..... the YOUNG lady at the front need to cool down her chill and not have attitude! Sometimes others doesn't understand Chinese that well doesn't mean you can start losing your shit!!! Control your attitude!

Our party of 11 had a great variety of food. All came out timely. If you can get a roasted duck fresh out of the oven, do it. If you get the soy sauce noodles, we needed 2 orders. Clay pot rice. One size. See how huge it is compared to the chopstick? Lots of rice and tiny slivers of ginger add great flavor without being overpowering. If you get this, don't bother ordering white rice. Ask what's the fresh veg of the day. We asked for something someone was craving and were told to get something else. We were pleased with the alternative, very fresh. Standard Chinatown restaurant decor for this moderate-sized place. Just a couple of big tables. Simple, nothing fancy.

So underwhelming. The service was incredibly slow even with the restaurant not being busy at all. The crispy pork belly did not have crispy skin and was mostly fat, the roast duck was mostly bones and the flavors were not there. Both of these meats came out cold, they weren't even heated. Even the rice was lackluster. The string beans were average but that's pretty tough to mess up. Will not be back, would not recommend.

    BBQ Meats Three Way

I walked in to order takeout and service was really quick. I got the BBQ meats three way with chicken, roasted duck, and roasted pig. The meat was well-seasoned. Even though the portion of the duck they gave me had very little meat, the amount of food was very generous for only $15! I would come back again to dine in and try other dishes. They have decent amount of seating that can accommodate even larger parties.

Three treasure rice box (roasted crispy pork, cha siu, and duck) -$13.95

This is a new Hong Kong style eatery that had replaced the old Eldo Bakery in Chinatown which I loved! I tried a three treasure rice box for lunch here with crispy roast pork, cha siu, and roast duck, which was decent. The crispy roast pork could've been a tad crispier and succulent, while i felt that the duck fat could've been rendered a bit better and had a bit more five spice (personal preference). The cha siu otherwise was fine. Taste wise, I prefer HK Eatery right down the street, but they're a lot more generous with the portions here and the people working behind the counter are definitely much happier and nicer in comparison. There also wasn't a line here when I had stopped by, whereas if you try to go to HK Eatery down the street at lunch time, the place can be a zoo. Will I be back? Sure!

I got the shrimp fried rice and it came out to be around $16 with tip. I give it 3 stars because besides the rice and shrimp it was just peas and a lot of egg. I definitely didn't order right/come with enough people (I came alone so I only got one dish). I think this place would be better w family or friends where you can share a bunch of different dishes.

We came here for dinner. Service was good. We got a special half a chicken with sesame seeds. It was most and delicious. We also got steak fillet, fried rice, veggie dish, salted egg yolk lobster, and roasted duck . The lobster was amazing. Duck was so scrumptious. Overall a great meal

My family went for the lobster deal (spend $100+, $20 lobster). SOoo worth it. The most expensive dish ended up being eel ($40). Total turned out to be ~$30/person with 5 dishes. We went rather late so they ran out of the fried pork which according to my mom was tasty, but everything else was seasoned well, came out fast, and overall well made cantonese/toisanese food. Note: they don't have a waiting list system so you kind of just wait around until they have a table open up. When we asked for an estimate, the employee/waiter just shrugged wait time was just around 30 minutes though. Overall, classic cozy chinese dinner place that satiates your cravings.

    Scallop rice and pork rice.
    Brad G.

Ask them for a combo plate with the meats of your choice. We chose the Boneless ribs, duck and crispy pork. These come out cool which may be normal but not what I had expected and was plenty of food for 3 people. Same or true for the fried rice. They recommend the Scalloped fried rice, but the pork was our favorite. I do wish they all were a bit more crispy.

The BBQ pork full of fay

The BBQ pork was all fat. It was terrible qualit. I had to throw away more than half the meat.

First of all, the arrangement they had for queueing for tables was a bit confusing and unclear. I wish they had a more seamless system for handling this (in an app or taking phone numbers instead). We ordered lots of dishes to share.. pineapple buns with roast pork, the viral crab rangoon scallion pancake, soup dumplings, rice rolls with ribs, etc. The standout for me was definitely the crab rangoon scallion pancakes. I 100% get the hype! It's ooey and gooey and perfect for any crab rangoon lover. I was however pretty disappointed in the pineapple buns (one of my favorite dishes) and soup dumplings, which honestly just tasted like they were frozen and reheated from the grocery store. The service was also very absent and it took awhile for us to wave someone down so we could pay our bill. Not sure if we visited on an off day or something, but I wasn't very impressed.

We came for a family dinner and of course Grandma Ding was with us in her wheelchair. We only smashed into a few chairs in the big, crowded dining room. And fortunately other customers were understanding while the staff was helpful and accommodating. The small, curious child running around the dining room without parental supervision didn't get hurt when I ran him over. The menu was huge so it took a long time to order with Grandma asking questions about every item. I could see that the waitstaff was used to quick orders and rapid food delivery to the table, but the waiter remained kind and patient. He also repeated his answers loudly when she couldn't understand his English and because she didn't have her hearing aides turned up. We finally ordered a giant wonton soup, eggplant with garlic sauce, a shrimp dish, and orange chicken; all to share. Everything was fresh, hot, tasty and delicious. Grandma Ding did have to ask for the soup to be heated up because she likes it to be scalding. The dining room is worn and dishes were flying in and out as items were served and cleared. It's definitely a place for family meals, not one for an engagement proposal or romance. Perfect for our evening. Portions are generous and prices competitive with other restaurants in the area.
