So yummy! Pork chop was so fresh it was hot. All the food was great flavor, not overdone. Service was fast. Stir fried pea pod stems were on point; always a favorite! Szechuan eggplant wasn't too spicy, loved it :) Chow foon always a classic, liked that it wasn't overly oily and it was a nice classic and traditional dry fry (in a good way, great "wok hei"). Ambiance was casual, street parking metered all along this restaurant's street, oolong tea that was included was SOOOOOOOOO good, may have been peach oolong.

Nice authentic Chinese dishes without driving into Chinatown Boston dealing with one way streets, bike lanes, parking nightmares. Food freshly prepared. The ribs were meaty and a more char would be better , but freshly cooked perfectly. The hong Kong beef chow fun was freshly prepared and it had nice flavors and noodles cooked well. Very good food and many options all freshly prepared.

I was visiting my family from overseas and tonight we decided to have a meal at a new restaurant and I'm so glad we had the chance to try this place out. The size and space of the restaurant is reasonable. The front portion had windows looking out to the street and the back was more spacious for bigger groups. The atmosphere was relaxing and nice. The service was great. Thank you for our server (I forgot his name) as he was phenomenal and we truly appreciate all his hard work. The flavors were perfect as we like simple yet delicious dishes. It wasn't spicy nor salty nor oily. The entire family enjoyed it very much and we look forward to our next visit to try other dishes.

This place is always packed. I don't really care much for most items on their menu but their fresh coconut/fresh chicken soup is amazing and the best that i've had. Service here is so-so but better than Chinatown. Easy street parking and there's also a public lot right across from restaurant.

So pleasantly surprised with this spot. All of the food was so freshly made, portions were generous, and service was fast. The space is very casual with plenty of street parking available. All of the dishes were just as I expected of a classic Chinese restaurant, just a bit on the salty side. Will definitely be back!

Went for a solo dinner while in Newton, and was impressed by the service, serving size, and quality of both the scallion pancakes and wok-roasted lamb. Would go back, especially with a group! Great family atmosphere.

As someone who craves dim sum often, but it's not as accessible to me, Ding's Kitchen certainly satisfies my craving! I went to Ding's Kitchen on Sunday morning right when it opened. It was already filling up quickly and luckily I was able to be seated. The restaurant provided a menu with dim sum listings accompanied by pictures. I checked marked a few dishes and then dim sum was served hot and fresh to the table. It wasn't a traditional push cart experience. I enjoyed everything I ate, especially the har gow, siu mai, and turnip cake with xo sauce (highly recommend!) The dumplings were really juicy with great taste. And the turnip cakes with xo sauce were flavorful with stir fried bean sprout and scallions, topped with jalapeños and fried pork bits. I almost ordered a second serving because it was so good. Since the restaurant was busy on the weekend, the service was a bit slow. However, I appreciated that the servers apologized and check in regularly. Everyone was so nice. The restaurant has plenty of tables and comfortable atmosphere where many family gatherings and catch up conversations can be held. The location offers plenty of street parking, a parking lot across the street, and in the back. A tip is to go early since Dim Sum is regularly eaten on weekends with small and large parties. I could already see customers waiting for tables by noon with the morning rush.

We came here to celebrate a birthday in the family. Plenty of parking right outside or in the lot outside. You do have to pay the meter, but there are plenty of options, right in the heart of Newton Center. This used to be Jumbo restaurant. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We ordered plenty of family style food while almost everyone else ordered hot pot. The place is as clean as other Asian restaurants...it was comfortable. The hot tea was good, and the food was good too. Standouts to call out were the garlic chicken. I was thinking there was more but that's actually it. The rest of the dishes were good too, just nothing worthy of calling out. Food is fresh and tasty and comes out FAST. For 11 of us, the bill came out to be just over $300. They offered a 10% cash discount. Would consider them again, as they are on par with Joyful Garden, a place we regularly go to as a family. If you like one, you'd enjoy the other.

Very good dim sum and Chinese menu in Newton! We came on a Saturday and enjoyed some dim sum and their signature coconut chicken prepared tableside! Highly recommend

As of late, this spot has been one of my faves for good authentic Cantonese food in the Newton area. Definitely has some nostalgic tastes and vibes, compared to some of the other spots I've been to these days - plus service is usually pretty quick and friendly! It can be pretty busy at times, but it's definitely worth a try in my honest and humble opinion. For their food, I've gotta say that their specials are usually a good choice if you're having a hard time deciding - as they've got quite the extensive menu. Though I must say, my personal favorite might be their clay pot rice with how it's simple yet very flavorful - just be careful, as the pot and its contents are piping hot! Would highly recommend!

We had a nice dinner there. We got a pork pan fried noodle, roasted chicken, and sautéed fish with vegetables. Everything came out fast and tasted good. They have a large menu of dim sum and dinner. Their popular dish is their coconut chicken soup, that might be worth trying. Plenty of clean new space to enjoy our meal. This was a nice overall place for casual, authentic Chinese dinner.

Came for late lunch / early dinner. Around 4pm. Seated right away. Even at that time, there were like 5 or 6 other tables occupied so it was not exactly quiet. Ordered everything shown in pictures. Everything was good. What stood out to me was the roasted duck. We got it whole. Love the taste and moist meat. Sweet and sour pork was also unique compared to other Chinese places. It is good. We got the fujin fried rice, which was interesting. I never had a fried rice that is saucy but we looked it. Saucy toppings were smooth. Everything else is pretty typical of a Chinese restaurant. Lobster, salt and pepper silverfish, Chinese cauliflower, fried milk, rice, and red bean dessert soup. These were also good but not as unique compared to other Chinese restaurants. Personally, my least favorite was the pork intestines with pickled vegetables. The intestines are such an acquired taste. Some people I was with, loved it. Overall, great authentic Chinese restaurant for dinner. So far, I think it is better than the closest competitor, joyful garden in Watertown. I would come back to try their dim sum.

Chicken fried rice and cashew chicken

We got fried rice, cashew chicken, and egg drop soup. Food pickup was easy at the front counter. Entree portion sizes were generous and loaded with protein, which was a pleasant surprise. Fried rice was quite good. Cashew chicken seemed like it had a bit much cornstarch and was not particularly flavorful. The egg drop soup seemed like it had a bit much cornstarch and was missing some flavor, but maybe it's just their style. Overall, was an alright food experience and decent value if you don't care as much about flavorful food. I would like something a bit more flavored at this price point and could do with a bit less cornstarch. Will probably go back but just for the fried rice.

I was up in the area and I was hungry and I thought this place looked pretty nice from the outside…read more I did try opening the door and I almost thought it was locked. The front door was very hard to open went inside. They had a really nice clean seating area . Everything was pre-done so plates and silverware. We're already on tables done ahead of time. Not sure if that's good or bad depends on how long they sit out in the open I would've liked to have ordered something that had all a complete meal together, but I missed the luncheon Specials which made or forced me to order separately. It came out very quickly all packaged in the bag cause I was taking out and I paid and when I paid, I almost passed out with the price. I'll add the slip to the review out of the entire meal. I had the crab Rangoon when I was in my car cause I was hungry. I didn't feel like staying at the restaurant the crab Rangoon were excellent waited till I got home for the entire rest of the meal. Add a whole container of pork fried rice started to have a little bit on that one and I didn't find any pork in it, but I did have some vegetable stuff in it so that was kinda OK but it'd be nice to have pork unless it's at the bottom, I haven't gotten that far The general Gau's chicken was very rubbery and it all stuck together as one clump in my takeout not sure if it would've been any better eating in the restaurant but I've had some very good takeout from other restaurants and this just wasn't it like I said the chicken in it was very rubbery and stringy. It did have broccoli three pieces in the takeout. What I really was looking for was one single container with general gau's chicken Some pork fried rice with a couple of crab Rangoon's. I'm not local, but I do travel there due to my jobs. This is one place. I probably won't make an appearance again due to the takeout quality of the meal. So if you're looking for a really good crab Rangoon, they definitely did a great job on that And maybe it would've been better as a eat in situation rather than a takeout situation

We eventually were able to get in, there is a small space to wait with snacks though. Once our table was almost ready the host allowed us to order and once sat it came almost right away. We ordered the la-xi chicken with less spice, this has small crispy chicken pieces and lot of peppers, had to go in and pick out the little pieces. Truthfully wish it was less pepper and more chicken especially $23.95. The mapo tofu was delicious the perfect numbing sensation that I love. A must try dish was the fish fillet with crispy rice. This was $34 but it is perfect for cold day. They bring this dish out pour the soup on top and let it boil until the crispy gets cooked. We got the green beans as well, pretty standard nothing special. We got a little discount as well, I think for a late night special. Disappointing Service & Poor Seating Arrangement…read more Extremely disappointed with our experience here. I made a reservation for 6 people One Month in advance (in fact, today is my birthday) expecting a comfortable dining setup for my group. However, upon arrival, we were squeezed into a table clearly designed for 4 people. When we pointed this out, the staff insisted it was a '6-person table' and refused to move us to the larger tables available, claiming those were reserved for 7-8 people. This is inconsistent and unprofessional, as we have been seated at those larger tables with a group of 6 before. What's the point of making a reservation so far in advance if the restaurant can't provide adequate seating? The lack of flexibility and the dismissive attitude of the staff ruined our evening. For a place like Mountain House, I expected much better service. Will not be coming back anytime soon."

In fact, ever since the other Chinese spot changed ownership, I entirely switched to eating here whenever I want a quick sit down Chinese meal. The food is good. It comes out pretty fast. It's done pretty well. And the best part, it just doesn't remotely hurt the wallet. Even being a regular, I'm still amused at how the service is so stereotypical Chinese in the way that I'm just another soul coming in to be fed and not remembered or acknowledged. Mind you, I'm here a LOT and am usually the only one sitting there eating while delivery people repeatedly come and go. Anyways, two reasons why I'm unable to give them 5 stars. First, the tap water they serve...tastes like @#$%. I don't know what it is but I've actually started bringing my own water bottle (or just ordered a soda). Two, the steamed rice is inconsistent. Half the time, it's perfect. The other half...is wet and mushy (I want to say a reheat but isn't that just such a faux pax in Chinese cuisine?). Nonetheless, this is one of the few four and less starred places on my list that I will still continue to frequent and recommend to anyone in the area wanting a quick and decent meal for cheap!
