One look at their menu and you know it's gonna be good. They have a lot of authentic dishes that are a bit rarer to see in this area. I've only visited twice so far, so I'll have to update as I try more dishes from their huge menu. Spicy Hot Oil Seared Noodles: The hand-pulled noodles are friggin' delicious. Perfect chew. The oil is also amazingly garlicky and spicy. Pretty comparable to Gene's Chinese Flatbread, but unfortunately these are pricier ($12 vs $9). Mala Xiang Guo: This is the legit stuff. Any place with this on their menu looks a bit more authentic in my eyes. It's honestly a great deal; $28-30 for 3-4 meals worth of food. It's basically hotpot without the soup, packed full of yummy ingredients. Cold Skin Noodles: This is another one of those authentic dishes you usually can't find. Unfortunately, this one was a little disappointing as the noodles were pretty stuck together. Still decent, though! Crab Rangoon: These are pretty standard, but they come free if you order more than $35! Ask about the coupon when you place your order. White Rice: Yes, I know this is a weird thing to review, but their white rice is top notch. It's perfectly cooked and is so aromatic. I need to ask them what brand they use!

Spicy hand pulled noodle with hot oil blew my mind. It could be the best dish I've eaten in the Boston area. Location doesn't look like much, but don't be dismayed, they know what they are doing with their hand pulled noodles. I'm stuffed. Roll me home. +++ Took away one point after seeing how dirty the bathroom door and light switch were. Please dear lord, clean this and earn back your 5 star review. It's so gross. But the food is so good

Hole in the wall Chinese restaurant with friendly service. Accepts card payments with a minimum of $15 I believe. The food itself was okay. The broth for the beef noodle soup lacked depth and the meat quality was not good. The noodles were also over done and did not have the chew that the handmade noodles usually have. I personally enjoyed the potstickers. My partner did not though since the skin was on the thicker side. It really depends on your preference! Cumin lamb burger was good but I've had better

I love Home Taste! It really does feel like a taste of home. My family is from the Henan region so their Henan hand pulled noodle soup really hits the spot. Their "Chinese burgers" are delicious and made me so nostalgic for Chinese street food. Their more American Chinese food dishes like orange chicken, general Taos chicken, etc are decent as well. However, I would suggest mostly ordering their noodles dishes because it's the most worth it. Their lo mein and chili oil noodles with bok choy are so good - again it's the hand pulled noodles that really make their noodles dishes so authentic and tasty.

Far exceeded my expectations. The food is DELICIOUS. The hand pulled noodles are PERFECT. The flavor is ON POINT. The ambiance though does not exist so if you are looking for a great sit down experience, it is not for you. It is however, great for good food or takeout. The shop itself is a little small and old looking, but they definitely make it taste like home. We intentionally ordered a lot, and they were judging us in Chinese thinking I didn't understand. But it's fine, only reason I took a star off. Crab rangoons were free because we ordered over $30. The lamb cumin burger was cooked really well, well seasoned, and could be a great snack. The dumplings are definitely homemade but just not for me. The NOODLES THOUGH. I'd come back over and over just for that. Fair warning though the hot chili oil one without the soup has tons of garlic if you aren't into that. I liked the soup less one more but both are delicious.

Doesn't allow dine in apparently yet there's been recent posts that people are dining in with friends and family? Make it make sense. The cumin lamb burger had more bell peppers than meat. Unfortunately as I was halfway through my meal, I discovered a cockroach in my soup... Not the warmest service but I would've still supported this restaurant if it was clean.

Fresh noodles , boneless spareribs, chicken fingers lunch special... 10 bucks

I visited again and pulled noodles are excellent... I should have ordered spicy oil flavor.. a lot of food with soup, 2 appetizers ad part of lunch special reasonable prices. I ordered wings and for chinese restaurant I was expecting soy ginger marinated wing with no breading... I didn't like breading or taste at all.... Ribs were dry, spring roll no flavor... egg drop soup ok, my prior visit was better but I was late afternoon... so May have gotten tail end of leftover food. Noodles were great but needed flavor spice oil... 2 meals from one lunch... quick, nice people and if looking for ambiance or serene atmosphere to chill... this ain't it Solid for food, take out ... but not for fried wings

Long long so long hand pulled noodles! Being new to Watertown, we decided to try this place which did not disappoint! First of all they have hand pulled noodles so we were super excited to try them! The restaurant is located in Watertown square and although it's not too big it has plenty of seating for small groups. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded. They have many options in their menu including Chinese burger which I have not seem before at other restaurants so I was curious and excited to order one. We definitely had to order the recommended hand pulled noodles and we also got some gyoza for our appetizer. The food was delicious! Everything was super yummy and we had a lot of fun trying to eat the hand pulled noodles! I really enjoyed the Chinese burger, the bun was nice and chewy and the meat was full of spices and flavor. We quickly devoured our food and wished there was more! We will definitely be back!

In fact, ever since the other Chinese spot changed ownership, I entirely switched to eating here whenever I want a quick sit down Chinese meal. The food is good. It comes out pretty fast. It's done pretty well. And the best part, it just doesn't remotely hurt the wallet. Even being a regular, I'm still amused at how the service is so stereotypical Chinese in the way that I'm just another soul coming in to be fed and not remembered or acknowledged. Mind you, I'm here a LOT and am usually the only one sitting there eating while delivery people repeatedly come and go. Anyways, two reasons why I'm unable to give them 5 stars. First, the tap water they serve...tastes like @#$%. I don't know what it is but I've actually started bringing my own water bottle (or just ordered a soda). Two, the steamed rice is inconsistent. Half the time, it's perfect. The other half...is wet and mushy (I want to say a reheat but isn't that just such a faux pax in Chinese cuisine?). Nonetheless, this is one of the few four and less starred places on my list that I will still continue to frequent and recommend to anyone in the area wanting a quick and decent meal for cheap!

We eventually were able to get in, there is a small space to wait with snacks though. Once our table was almost ready the host allowed us to order and once sat it came almost right away. We ordered the la-xi chicken with less spice, this has small crispy chicken pieces and lot of peppers, had to go in and pick out the little pieces. Truthfully wish it was less pepper and more chicken especially $23.95. The mapo tofu was delicious the perfect numbing sensation that I love. A must try dish was the fish fillet with crispy rice. This was $34 but it is perfect for cold day. They bring this dish out pour the soup on top and let it boil until the crispy gets cooked. We got the green beans as well, pretty standard nothing special. We got a little discount as well, I think for a late night special. I made a reservation for 6 people One Month in advance (in fact, today is my birthday) expecting a comfortable dining setup for my group. However, upon arrival, we were squeezed into a table clearly designed for 4 people. When we pointed this out, the staff insisted it was a '6-person table' and refused to move us to the larger tables available, claiming those were reserved for 7-8 people. This is inconsistent and unprofessional, as we have been seated at those larger tables with a group of 6 before. What's the point of making a reservation so far in advance if the restaurant can't provide adequate seating? The lack of flexibility and the dismissive attitude of the staff ruined our evening. For a place like Mountain House, I expected much better service. Will not be coming back anytime soon."

Everytime we show up for dinner there is always alot of take out orders which is a good sign. We really enjoy the hand pulled noodles which is a must every time we done in. They are cooked perfectly and are packed with flavor of whichever dish you choose them with. We also really enjoy their dry hot pot, especially the shrimp dry pot. It's a stir fry kind of dish packed with several veggies like red peppers, broccoli and much more! The soups are also very good and rich in flavor and are perfect for a chilly day. Some of them are served in a large portion so they are perfect for sharing. You really can't go wrong with any dish! One that you had…read moreonce, one that eventually drifted apart due to whatever circumstances, and then finding each other again in the most unexpected moment and regaining that wonderful traction of a friendship all over again. Yes, I'm talking about food. It was once a tale of two spots. One in Watertown and one right here. As I resided in closer to the Watertown location since the move here, I frequented it and found solace in their dishes - absolute comfort food that was done very well. However, like all businesses, things change and eventually the business was sold. I knew there was a transition period and the owner and chefs stuck around to "train" the new owners. I hoped that the "good" would remain and that the new owners would continue the tradition of wonderfully curated dishes and keep the regulars coming back. Did it happen? No. I gave them about a month of repeated visits to gauge their level of culinary competence but it never came through. Long story short. I stopped going and that feeling of lost love began to fester. I didn't think much of it. I thought he had sold this place too since I've often overheard him saying how hard it was to run this business to his associates as he tried to satisfy every customer walking in the door or ringing the phone off the hook. So when I finally found a chance to be on this side of town, I decided to stop by and give it a shot. Maybe, maybe I thought, the new owners here would do a much better take on what they had taken over. What I didn't expect after placing an order was to see the owner walking out from the kitchen with dishes in hand to serve another table. Eyes wide open, I couldn't help but say, "HEY! Good to see you again." He in return showed the same look and smiled greeting me back with fondness and delight. That's when I spoke to the lady and asked more about the whole situation, wherein she explained how they sold the other place but kept this one. Regulars of the other spot now take the 15-20 minute drive just to come up here instead for a meal. I smiled. It made sense. They must have felt robbed when they went back after the place was sold. Food wasn't even remotely the same. Don't even talk about service either. Anyways, long story short, when the food came out. I felt this completeness return back to my soul. Here, once again, I felt home away from home. The food did me justice. The flavors impeccable. The culinary finesse was displayed thoroughly with each bite. So it is, once again, I found my long lost love again in Boston and can't wait to be here every single Sunday for a wonderful special meal that teleports me back to what "Home Tastes" like.

Let me preface this by saying I truly enjoy Asian cuisine, both authentic dishes from various regions and well done American Chinese food. I understand and appreciate the difference between the two. Unfortunately, this experience fell short on both fronts. Several reviews praise the pork fried rice, but what I received was simply rice, soy sauce, and a few bits of pork. Pork fried rice should have depth aromatics, egg, scallions, and proper wok flavor. This did not meet that standard. The General Gau's chicken was served cold and coated in a reddish, lightly spicy sauce, with the majority of the dish consisting of batter rather than chicken. It lacked texture, balance, and freshness. The soups were equally disappointing. The wonton soup tasted like a highly saturated version of the original, lacking real flavor and nuance. The egg drop soup was similar...flat and uninspired. I understand that American Chinese food is its own category, but even within that category, there are many establishments that execute it far better. This meal was not reflective of the praise it receives. I was genuinely looking forward to this lunch and left very disappointed. I hope the owners read this review and take it as constructive feedback. Chinese food is a delicacy for many people, myself included, and it deserves care, balance, and pride in execution. I truly hope the quality improves, because the potential could be there, but this visit missed the mark. I hope the owners review this post
