I have several dietary restrictions (Low FODMAP) so I am always nervous that a restaurant won't have options that I can eat. Our server at Pho and Thai listened to my restrictions and although most of the dishes on their menu wouldn't work, she suggested an option, including the staff creating a sauce that was safe for me to eat. This was my go to restaurant in Belmont for fried rice and pho. Tonight, I ordered a basic chicken fried rice; the portion was much smaller, chicken was rubbery, and they also reduced the vegetables too. In a word, DREADFUL. In another word: AVOID. Stopped in for dinner last night with 3 others. We ordered some appetizers and when our young waitress asked for our orders we said, 'Okay, but PLEASE don't put the order in quite yet, since we wanted to take our time' (the place was nearly empty). After politely reconfirming that we did NOT want to rush through our appetizers she ran off to the kitchen. Our apps came out shortly after (miniature Thai rolls and decent crab rangoon), but less than 5 minutes later so did 2 of the 4 dinners we'd ordered. Another followed shortly after and the fourth 10 minutes later. Two of the entrees (including some foul-smelling and soggy soft-shell crab infants) were basically inedible. Especially cringe-worthy, though, was The Pad Woon Sen, which should be relabeled Diaper Pad Sens Taste. No sauce (NOTHING), dreadfully overcooked and tasteless chicken lying-in-state on a solid mass of rice noodles that could have been used to replace the missing door of that United jetliner. Basically, the worst Thai food I've ever eaten. Other than that, we loved this place. read more

Shocked to read some bad reviews - my experience has been mostly positive! I have only ordered takeout but my food has always been hot and ready and the staff are always friendly. The restaurant is clean and appealing. The drunken noodles are AMAZING - the chicken was average but the veggies are incredible and plentiful with amazing flavor. A little pricey but decent amount, you can't find a lot of noodle dishes cheaper. I also got the chicken Thai rolls which were good but very small portion for the price, definitely not worth $9 and same thing with the scallion pancakes - tiny portion. The Tall Man and I have been sampling take out from various Thai places in the area, and Pho and Thai sits square in the middle of those Grubhub offerings. My pad thai with chicken (my litmus test dish) had decently textured noodles but was overall somewhat bland and lacking in ingredients other than said noodles. The missing flavor might be because I requested that the dish be gluten free, but I wouldn't be able to judge the alternative (if there is one). At least the chicken wasn't too dry. The Tall Man had better luck, though, with his drunken noodles with beef -- very flavorful and enough of a spice kick to make him happy. Their delivery was faster than anticipated, which was a big plus. We may try them out again or visit their Waverly Square location, although I might leave pad thai by the way side and try something else. read more

This was the third time we have ordered delivery from Pho and Thai in the last year, and the last. We were trying to support small local restaurants during the pandemic, and try a few new ones. We gave them a few chances, hoping that the next time would be better. Everything is extremely dry and flavorless. They put no sauce or seasoning on anything. This time I specifically requested extra sauce on everything, but we still didn't get any. We got Steamed Pork Dumplings, which are the smallest dumplings I have ever seen. The sauce cup is even smaller, so you can't actually dip the dumplings. They are very dry and pasty, with not much flavor. We got Chicken Pad Thai, a dish that we have had at many other restaurants. There are literally only 4 ingredients in their Chicken Pad Thai: chicken, noodles, and a little scrambled egg, topped with some chopped peanuts. No vegetables, sauce or seasonings. The noodles are pasty in a similar way to the dumplings. You can tell in the photo, it's not the color you usually find in Pad Thai because there's no sauce. This time I ordered a side of peanut sauce (anticipating that it might be dry again), but they charge extra for that, like it's a side. I also asked for extra peanuts this time because there were very few the first two times I ordered it. The third dish we ordered was Orange Chicken, which we had not ordered before. It looked very appealing in the photo on their website menu. It was nothing like the photo. This dish had zero sauce on it. They did give us a side of some kind of watery sauce that tasted like it was supposed to be orangey. This dish was a dry, plain, fried chicken patty sliced up, with some undercooked veggies (mostly broccoli, with some shredded carrots and baby corn). There was a small box of white rice that came with it, but we didn't even open that. We live one mile from this restaurant and the delivery has taken more than 45 minutes each time we've ordered. We usually order between 7 and 8 pm, so I wouldn't think they'd be that busy. I hate to leave terrible reviews, but this is the third strike out and the first review I've left for them. read more

Looks like Pho & Thai have been reading their reviews. I, sort of, have become a regular here for lunch and can honestly say they have made some adjustments. The thai basil has consistently arrived at the table fresh and green, not wimpy/brown as previously mentioned. Their rare eyeround has improved as well. It has stopped arriving at the table well done but instead is actually rare the way it's suppose to be. And even the texture/thickness of the slices of the eyeround have gotten better, it's not as thick and chewy as it used to be. The duck noodle soup is still fabulous and my favorite. Thank you Pho & Thai for paying attention and making the small changes, cause they do make a significant difference. For that, you've bumped yourself up to 4 stars. read more

Stopped in last week for a quick lunch while waiting for my car to be cleaned. It was the only place open for real food within walking distance. My boyfriend and I were the ONLY people there when we first were seated although several people came in for take out. They have a nice menu. I got crab rangoons which were crispy and delicious and the Pho Ga (chicken noodle soup). The soup was decent but not as flavorful as other Pho I've had. Boyfriend got the chicken wings and didn't complain. The decor/atmosphere is kinda lame but the good cheap food makes up for it. read more

We were disappointed with the food that we ate here and we will not return nor recommend this restaurant to anyone. The chicken in the Pad Thai smelled because it was not fresh. Well, I said in my first (one-star) review that I wasn't going to give this place another chance. It took me two years, but I finally decided to go back. I am glad I did! This time, instead of ordering takeout, I went there in person. As you can see, I updated my one-star review to a four-star review (Yay! I'm a fan.) after my second meal. I had a vegetable curry (green curry) and the Thai Custard for dessert. Both were excellent. The negatives that kept this from being a five-star rating: my partner's beef dish was tasty, but some of the beef was too fatty; the three appetizers we got all seemed to come with the same rather unimaginative sauce; and one of the pieces of broccoli in the vegetable tempura was fairly brown and gross. I am definitely going back. The positives outweigh the negatives, and the service was good. And that Thai Custard was so good that I wish I could have it every day. I think it is flavored with pandan leaf. My partner is not a fan of custards, and so he didn't like the texture, but that was fine by me, because it meant I got to eat the entire dessert! If you like sweet custards, make a point of visiting this restaurant for the Thai Custard. read more

We had take out from there yesterday... It was a large order and boy did we eat well. WE had curries, noodle dishes, fried rice and all the fixin's.. Our diners especially liked the mango fried rice with chicken and the mango curry... The fresh spring rolls were just OK though... somehow wrapping them in saran rap, while it may keep the wrapper moist, takes away from the ambience.... the diner who had the noodle soup was impressed with the fact that they separated the noodles from the soup in a take out container... it kept the noodles from getting mushy.... As you all know I am from Atlanta and with the diversity of foods from my city, you are almost forced to be a gastronome. We only get one thing here that we absolutely love and it is the Thai Basil Fried Rice with Crispy Chicken on top. Add an order of Crab Rangoon's and you are having a total knockout meal. You will have no regrets. Seating inside of the space is not the best but it gets the job done if you are hungry. Service is good. My husband and I were visiting a friend in the area and we walked around to find a place to eat. We found this restaurant as we kept walking past the bicycle shop and decided to have a meal there. We were greeted by a pleasant host who was all smiles as we walked in and got us seated. There weren't a lot of people dining in the place - it was just us and another couple seated by the window. My impression is that people in the neighborhood will usually call this place for delivery or take out. The menu selection is good - it did took me a while to decide one for my main course. We ordered the Golden Triangle & steamed Shumai for appetizers. I had the Pad Ka Ree (soft shell crab) while the husband got himself the ground chicken Kra Pow. Our meals tasted good and we finished all of our food (our plates were clean). No freezer smell on our food! Now, here's a thing to note: if your overall expectations are very high for Thai / Vietnamese food especially food quality, taste and presentation, this place may not be your cup of tea. It goes to explain why people would call this place for take-outs or delivery - it's basic. I gave it a 4 star because we lucked out on a really decent meal. Last night I had people over and ordered dinner from here. We were quoted a 20-30 minute delivery time. After an hour we called and were told, "he SHOULD be on his way." 15 minutes later we were so hungry we ordered a new dinner from Number One Taste on Trapelo. We called to cancel our original order they told us to, "refuse the food and send the driver back." It only took Number One 20 minutes to get our dinner to us. About 10 minutes later the original order showed up, after roughly 1hr 45mins. Absolutely unacceptable and not even an offer to make this inconvenience right by the driver or the person we talked to 3 times on the phone. If it's a cold winter day, or you're just looking for some better-than-ramen noodles in soup, Pho and Thai is an underappreciated gem. I won't give any specific suggestions, frankly because I don't remember their names, but I do want to promote this place as a cool spot to have a slightly different type of meal. Pho and Thai is one of those "warm your belly" spots, and great for when you've got the mid-winter sniffles. My brother, among the braver souls, has declared one of their spicier soups as his remedy to a sore throat and stuffed sinuses. Their appetizers are typical asian cuisine (crab rangoon and dumplings being among the list). However, there are some cool strictly Thai appetizers you can get, too. I'm giving this only 3 stars because the service isn't out-of-this-world extraordinary, nor their food jump up for joy delicious. It's a consistent option if you're looking for a specific type of food. it definitely doesn't get a lot of hype, but for sure worth checking out if you want to warm up on a cooler night. read more

Full disclosure, my aunt is a minority owner at Pho and Thai. Fuller disclosure, I'm a Thai food snob so I'm still not giving Pho and Thai a five rating. Went there with my girlfriend on a Saturday night. The place was very busy but the service was still good. Why my cousin Don is using his Master's Degree in Economics to be a waiter confuses me, but I'll take good food service whenever I can. The appetizers (chicken satay, Vietnamese summer rolls and Thai spring rolls) were the best I've had in forever. Two of the entrees were only o.k. (Pad See Ew and Pho Beef) but the Paradise/Treasure dish was great. All together, Pho and Thai is a great place mainly because of the appetizers.
