it can't be eaten. The beef is not fresh and the dried grapes are too hard to eat.

In the past, the pineapple beef fried rice here was okay, but today it can't be eaten. The beef is not fresh and the dried grapes are too hard to eat.

Recently, I went here for dinner and ordered the chicken pad thai and chicken satay. The pad thai was good but the chicken had the freezer smell to it. The chicken satay was very disappointing. There were 4 large skewers but they were really salty and chewy. It was not what I expected.

    Orange Chicken (requested extra sauce)

This was the third time we have ordered delivery from Pho and Thai in the last year, and the last. We were trying to support small local restaurants during the pandemic, and try a few new ones. We gave them a few chances, hoping that the next time would be better. Everything is extremely dry and flavorless. They put no sauce or seasoning on anything. This time I specifically requested extra sauce on everything, but we still didn't get any. We got Steamed Pork Dumplings, which are the smallest dumplings I have ever seen. The sauce cup is even smaller, so you can't actually dip the dumplings. They are very dry and pasty, with not much flavor. We got Chicken Pad Thai, a dish that we have had at many other restaurants. There are literally only 4 ingredients in their Chicken Pad Thai: chicken, noodles, and a little scrambled egg, topped with some chopped peanuts. No vegetables, sauce or seasonings. The noodles are pasty in a similar way to the dumplings. You can tell in the photo, it's not the color you usually find in Pad Thai because there's no sauce. This time I ordered a side of peanut sauce (anticipating that it might be dry again), but they charge extra for that, like it's a side. I also asked for extra peanuts this time because there were very few the first two times I ordered it. The third dish we ordered was Orange Chicken, which we had not ordered before. It looked very appealing in the photo on their website menu. It was nothing like the photo. This dish had zero sauce on it. They did give us a side of some kind of watery sauce that tasted like it was supposed to be orangey. This dish was a dry, plain, fried chicken patty sliced up, with some undercooked veggies (mostly broccoli, with some shredded carrots and baby corn). There was a small box of white rice that came with it, but we didn't even open that. We live one mile from this restaurant and the delivery has taken more than 45 minutes each time we've ordered. We usually order between 7 and 8 pm, so I wouldn't think they'd be that busy. I hate to leave terrible reviews, but this is the third strike out and the first review I've left for them.

Looks like Pho & Thai have been reading their reviews. I, sort of, have become a regular here for lunch and can honestly say they have made some adjustments. The thai basil has consistently arrived at the table fresh and green, not wimpy/brown as previously mentioned. Their rare eyeround has improved as well. It has stopped arriving at the table well done but instead is actually rare the way it's suppose to be. And even the texture/thickness of the slices of the eyeround have gotten better, it's not as thick and chewy as it used to be. The duck noodle soup is still fabulous and my favorite. Thank you Pho & Thai for paying attention and making the small changes, cause they do make a significant difference. For that, you've bumped yourself up to 4 stars.

Pho and Thai is still our number 1 take-out restaurant in the area. Firstly, because it's two blocks away from our house, and secondly, because the food is consistently good. We still love the Tom Yum noodle soup, but also the fresh spring rolls with shrimp, chicken satay, pad thai, drunken noodles with beef or tofu and Thai fried rice. I've eaten at the restaurant once, but we get take-out 2-3 times a month. They recognize us when we call to order. :)

Their prices are reasonable for this type of homestyle fare, so you have no reason to give your money to a big chain owned by fat cats! ;) On weekends, the wait for table seating can be an hour-plus but there is a reason for this. We ordered popcorn chicken to start and devoured our bowls of soup: chicken and braised beef. Mine was the latter and I ended up ordering additional noodles and Chinese veggies so the delicious broth would not go to waste! My side order of noodles was a healthy portion. I also tried the pork wontons and we finished off our meal with the sesame seed "appetizer" balls (4 small pieces: 2 skewers with 2 each). Dine-in seating is limited but what they have is clean and simple. The complementary jasmine and green hot tea is delicious. Andy served us and was attentive and affable. I will definitely come back to try the salt and pepper pork chop many have written about!

As a family run restaurant , grandma and the rest of the family had a flight to catch to Taiwan the next day; all the ingredients are fresh to prep daily and sadly for some, they had to get turned away that night... I went heavy hitter mode, I was in the zone. I got the salt & pepper pork chop- wasn't going to eat the rice but as you can see from the pic below of the noodles- I licked the entire plate clean. This pork chop was perfectly seasoned and it was insanely tender. Very impressed with how tender and flavorful it was. Next up had the spicy wonton noodles; just truly amazing, idk what else to say. The noodles are perfectly cooked, super flavorful dish. The beef noodles were also incredible and the braised beef pieces stole the show in that bowl. I left zero room for any to go box. Service was amazing, they were super nice & I even got to say hello and compliment Grandma upon leaving. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. I will definitely be back soon!

It was very busy but we were able to get a table for two within 5 min. The service was super slow. Took ~20 min for our server to take our order & another 40 min for our food to come. We noticed our server was the only server for all the tables, haha crazy! Here's what we ended up ordering: -roti (w/ potato curry sauce) -chicken wings (w/ spicy garlic sauce) -pad see ew -pla pad kun chai (fried cod fish fillet w/ lemongrass + Chinese celery) -Thai iced tea We tried the chicken wings, the roti, and Thai iced teas at the restaurant & ended up requesting for the rest of our food to go since we were on a time crunch. Thoughts: The pad see ew was delicious! We reheated it later that night & it was flavorful. I would definitely get this again. The chicken wings had good flavor but we found the chicken itself to be very dry inside. Made it difficult to enjoy. I loved the potato curry sauce that came with the roti. Simple but tasty dish. The pla pad kun chai was our least favorite dish we ordered. It didn't taste good at all after reheating. We're curious if we would've enjoyed this more if we ate it at the restaurant when it was fresh? The fish had a very fishy smell & didn't taste like it had been treated with lemon, vinegar, or both. We usually enjoy cod fish & lemongrass but this was a complete miss for us. Lastly, the Thai iced tea was okay. It was a bit too watery for us & we wished it could've been creamier. Overall, I would come back again to give Cha Yen another try. I did like the dishes we tried at the restaurant & perhaps the fish for example would've tasted better if had at the restaurant.

In fact, ever since the other Chinese spot changed ownership, I entirely switched to eating here whenever I want a quick sit down Chinese meal. The food is good. It comes out pretty fast. Mind you, I'm here a LOT and am usually the only one sitting there eating while delivery people repeatedly come and go. Anyways, two reasons why I'm unable to give them 5 stars. First, the tap water they serve...tastes like @#$%. I don't know what it is but I've actually started bringing my own water bottle (or just ordered a soda). Two, the steamed rice is inconsistent. One that you had…read moreonce, one that eventually drifted apart due to whatever circumstances, and then finding each other again in the most unexpected moment and regaining that wonderful traction of a friendship all over again. Yes, I'm talking about food. It was once a tale of two spots. One in Watertown and one right here. As I resided in closer to the Watertown location since the move here, I frequented it and found solace in their dishes - absolute comfort food that was done very well. However, like all businesses, things change and eventually the business was sold. I knew there was a transition period and the owner and chefs stuck around to "train" the new owners. I hoped that the "good" would remain and that the new owners would continue the tradition of wonderfully curated dishes and keep the regulars coming back. Did it happen? No. I gave them about a month of repeated visits to gauge their level of culinary competence but it never came through. Long story short. I stopped going and that feeling of lost love began to fester. I didn't think much of it. I thought he had sold this place too since I've often overheard him saying how hard it was to run this business to his associates as he tried to satisfy every customer walking in the door or ringing the phone off the hook. So when I finally found a chance to be on this side of town, I decided to stop by and give it a shot. Maybe, maybe I thought, the new owners here would do a much better take on what they had taken over. What I didn't expect after placing an order was to see the owner walking out from the kitchen with dishes in hand to serve another table. Eyes wide open, I couldn't help but say, "HEY! Good to see you again." He in return showed the same look and smiled greeting me back with fondness and delight. That's when I spoke to the lady and asked more about the whole situation, wherein she explained how they sold the other place but kept this one. Regulars of the other spot now take the 15-20 minute drive just to come up here instead for a meal. I smiled. It made sense. They must have felt robbed when they went back after the place was sold. Food wasn't even remotely the same. Don't even talk about service either. Anyways, long story short, when the food came out. I felt this completeness return back to my soul. Here, once again, I felt home away from home. The food did me justice. The flavors impeccable. The culinary finesse was displayed thoroughly with each bite. So it is, once again, I found my long lost love again in Boston and can't wait to be here every single Sunday for a wonderful special meal that teleports me back to what "Home Tastes" like.
