Classic Cold Cuts Banh Mi
May H.

Very quaint little cafe that offers a handful of authentic Viet dishes. This place is more of a grab and go since there are only three little seats out front. I really enjoyed their Viet Coffee with Pandan Foam! It was perfectly strong and the Pandan Foam made for a lovely combination. The cold cut Banh Mii and the Lychee Refresher were also tasty! The bread was delicate and fresh and the sandwich itself is fairly sizable.

I'm glad there is yet another banh mi place nearby. The other is in Waltham. This place is tiny with seating for maybe 3 people inside. Conveniently located across from the Watertown library, there are plenty of street parking (metered) spaces available. The staff was friendly, ordering from the digital machine was easy. Pricing was about what is expected these days. Portion is about what was expected. I did ask for No Greens on my classic cold cut but they gave it to me anyways. I had to manually pick it all out while eating at a nearby park. The spring rolls were good...as it was freshly fried. It was a decent experience for our first go at this place.

Vietnamese Condensed Milk Coffee (large $7.5)

Stopped here for a weekend late lunch. The place is really take out only but there is a small counter seating area with three stools for anyone that wants to eat in. The person taking our order at the counter was so friendly! We ordered the beef vermicelli bowl, the shrimp spring rolls and the Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk. Beef vermicelli bowl was decent size for the price point (12.99). Some pieces of beef were not as tender but it had good flavor. The veggies were very fresh and had a nice crunch. The shrimp rolls were fresh! You could tell by the wrapping that it was made to order. The peanut sauce was okay... I prefer the sauce with a little more hoisin sauce mixed in. The Vietnamese iced coffee might seem a bit steep at $7.50 for the large but it was delicious and they use the very fine shaved iced so most of the cup is coffee. Overall a good experience and will likely come back when in the area!

A tiny Banh Mi shop located in Watertown. Very happy this place opened. It's convenient for when I want to grab lunch. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is STRONG. Be warned. This is how I had it in Vietnam and it was sooo good. But if you don't like strong coffee, you should opt for another drink. Personally, this is just how I like it. I tried the beef Banh Mi. It was so good. Bread is fresh and the veggies are crisp and refreshing. Had a bit of a spice to it, which was perfect. I think from the peppers on it. The staff is so friendly too. I would highly recommend popping by this gem for take out sandwiches and iced coffee. There is street parking, but main street can get hectic during rush hour. Lunch time is a breeze though.

Anyone claiming to be a sandwich fanatic would know that the Vietnamese-take with their banh mi is a flavorful rainbow tickling just about everything on your tongue and the right amount of textural differences that excites the culinary palate. So as obvious my bias is to the banh mi, I've been quietly awaiting their soft opening to try at least two sandwich before eventually ordering their whole menu over a span of a week or a month. I visited at the later part of the day on the final leg of their soft opening and ordered two banh mi to-go just to visually watch how their team worked together amidst an unexpected rally of customers repeatedly entering the doors (wow - there are a lot of people who love a good sandwich - surprise...surprise). There are definitely a lot of growing to do BUT they are handling it quite well. I'm sure they will figure it out as each day progresses so let's talk food, which is always what really matters. Size...is pretty generous and the banh mi is *stuffed* all the way. Bread had both the crunch and the chew. Meat - both beef and chicken - were salty, sweet, and succulent - WIN! Garnishes were tart, sweet, and bouncy on the bite - WIN again. Jalapeños were not remotely having any heat - unexpected. Can't wait to be back again. Still my favorite "sandwich" and glad it's even more accessible with their location in Watertown. Welcome and best wishes for 2024!

Solid banh mi shop in Watertown square area. The location is small but still has some countertop seating. It's located next to o'some coffee. You can order at the register or at the touch screen. The banh mi baguette appeared too hard but it was surprisingly crusty on the outside and moist on the inside. The cold cut banh mi had some mild heat from the jalapeños and the pickled veggies added a nice crunch. Friendly staff and yummy food and drinks. The price is slightly more than what you see in NY Chinatown or Dorchester but the quality is decent for the greater Boston. I feel like the banh mi here is better than Pho Viet.

Delicious banh mi and bubble tea. Just keep in mind it's tiny and really only suited for takeout.

I love their bubble teas! The Oreo is great and so is the Thai iced tea. It can get crowded so recommend ordering ahead.

The mochi was so chewy and fresh, the matcha was rich and creamy, the strawberries provided a hint a tartness that gave balance, and the butter crunch made it the perfect texture combination. It doesn't get better than this. I think about this place often. You have the option of buying pre-made mochi. It was my first time trying taro pork floss mochi. I felt like the sweet cream, taro, and mochi was good, but it was sweet in comparison to the pork floss? the pork floss is supposed to make it savory, but the sweetness overpowers the pork floss, so I found it to be odd. Depending on the day and time you go, there could be a wait, but it's so worth it. I would go here again and again.

The mochi itself was delicious (although a little messy) and i definitely would make the trip for more of it! Ever since the Tall Man and I stumbled across it back in 2019, only a couple months after they opened, we've made it our go-to local boba shop. I like my boba drinks quite simple, and being dairy free also limits my options. I nearly always get the classic black or green bubble tea sweetened with honey, with less ice and 30-50% sugar. The bubbles are a good chewy texture, never over cooked, and slightly but not overly sweet like Kung Fu Tea's. Without fail, the Tall Man gets a taro milk tea or smoothie ("tea" isn't quite the right term, since there's zero tea thus zero caffeine) with mango popping boba. A creamy winner that's less sweet than competitors'. They also sell ice cream (typical flavors, although I wish they would offer Chinese/Taiwanese ones like taro and matcha) and used to have cake, but I haven't seen the pastries lately. A couple things to note: - The owner is very kind and runs the place with her family. At times she's the only one there, though. If there's a wait (mostly gaggles of high school students), be patient, and she'll get your order right. - Over the years, I've learned not to show up in the first 30 minutes after opening, to ensure that the boba is ready (the tapioca balls need to be cooked, then sweetened and preferably cooled down). It's possible the owner has changed her preparations since the early years, but this is now an engrained habit of mine so I haven't been there early enough to verify. - Not open on Mondays, including holidays that happen to be Mondays (like this year's July 4th).

They have the classic tea options along with smoothies, fruit juices and several decaf options which is great since my bf is trying to avoid caffeine drinks. PLUS, they close later than both. I have this bad habit of going here almost every time I have a meal in the area LOL. The addiction is real! I love that they keep adding new drinks to their menu... keeps it interesting. My favorite is still the Mango Coconut Boom but I'm a fan of most of their new drinks, like the Golden Oolong Yuzu & their King Jasmine Guava! I tried the Pistachio Cloud Jasmine Coconut, as well, and it's super similar to one of my favorites from MollyTea. I prefer the one from MollyTea more w/ champaca tea. Since their opening here, I have tried almost all of the drinks & their mango coconut boom is STILL superior! Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys mango. It is pretty much their version of mango pomelo sago (they have a version with pomelo but I like it without). SO GOOD! ***Pro tip: order ahead of time via HeyTea app. This is a lifesaver, since the wait time is pretty atrocious most days still. Usually takes ~20 min to be ready.

Mine was the latter and I ended up ordering additional noodles and Chinese veggies so the delicious broth would not go to waste! My side order of noodles was a healthy portion. I also tried the pork wontons and we finished off our meal with the sesame seed "appetizer" balls (4 small pieces: 2 skewers with 2 each). Dine-in seating is limited but what they have is clean and simple. The complementary jasmine and green hot tea is delicious. Andy served us and was attentive and affable. As a family run restaurant , grandma and the rest of the family had a flight to catch to Taiwan the next day; all the ingredients are fresh to prep daily and sadly for some, they had to get turned away that night... I went heavy hitter mode, I was in the zone. I got the salt & pepper pork chop- wasn't going to eat the rice but as you can see from the pic below of the noodles- I licked the entire plate clean. This pork chop was perfectly seasoned and it was insanely tender. Very impressed with how tender and flavorful it was. Next up had the spicy wonton noodles; just truly amazing, idk what else to say. The noodles are perfectly cooked, super flavorful dish. The beef noodles were also incredible and the braised beef pieces stole the show in that bowl. I left zero room for any to go box.
