The classic boba milk tea (hot)
    Andrew C.

Boba: 5/5 soft chewy fresh Tea: 5/5 flavorful tea with good balance of milk and sugar I would say their regular sugar level is at 80-90% of the other franchise boba shops. (Not anything good or bad, just fyi in case you have sugar preference.) COVID review: order online to pickup at the door.

Perfect spot to visit after riding the minuteman bikeway. The staff was nice and the shop is clean. They have a pretty good sized menu of drinks to order from. We got the peach oolong tea 50% ice and 50% sugar level with boba. The tea was really refreshing and I like it when shops have the option to select sugar and ice levels. The boba was okay though.

Not worth 4.5 star at all! My boba tasted like grass and had large passion fruit seeds in it which practically broke my teeth. Tarp tastes like expired milk + grape cow. Bubbles are so small and poorly cooked and taste bad. Do not come here

We went to a library at the same town and I was looking for a bubble tea place that we can stop by for a drink. So as usual I went to yelp and saw this place and some and my friend decided to grab something for us to sip on our way ride home. We grabbed two brown sugar milk. The packaging was nice and the cup is pretty sturdy I think people can actually re use it if they want. The milk tea taste good and it wasn't super sweet like other places would have made. Didn't get to go inside since I was watching the car with the babies. But it was a quick service. My friend went to get it inside and she went back pretty quick

Coming from SoCal, I've generally found the bubble tea options in suburban Boston to be underwhelming, so it was a pleasant surprise to find this cute little shop where the employees speak mandarin and the tea tastes like Taiwan right down the street from our apartment. The classic milk tea is smooth and creamy and not too sweet: no modifications needed here. The bubbles are consistently chewy from edge to edge within each one and also from one to another. You won't find mushy or hard bubbles here. The matcha waffles, both with and without red bean, have a strong tea flavor, slightly crisp exterior, and a chewy interior.

Feeling somewhat adventurous today, I chose the bubble nation tea with decaf. I'd never had red bean nor jelly in my bubble tea before. For such a large portion, it was on the cheaper side. I've had bubble tea about 2/3 of that size that was more expensive. Anyway, it was really good, with the red bean flavor giving the milk tea a subtly fruity, fragrant taste. I kept sucking on my straw to find more grainy red bean pieces. The boba itself and the jelly seemed tasteless to me but I didn't really care. The boba had a nice bouncy, chewy but not too rubbery consistency.

Ask the Community - Bubble Nation

Are any of the milk teas vegan? (Or can they be made vegan?) It seems like most of the powders used in boba tea drinks have milk derivatives.

Yes. Ask them for dairy-free milk as a substitute. Additionally, for the record, I don't think they use powders. Also be aware that different chains and shops use different milks or powders. For example, Gong Cha uses a plant-based powder base, so… Read more

    Can the cashier speak Chinese?

Yes they can! I talked with them in chinese all the time 哈哈😄

How many calories are in the classic? Can we get drink less sweet than normally served?

I know that you can definitely get the drinks made with less sugar/sweetness (and also with less ice). Not sure about the calories.

    Any non-dairy milk options :-)?

Yes! We can make everything non-dairy (besides the milk foam series). Just let the cashier know that you want non-dairy drinks :)… Read more

Ever since the Tall Man and I stumbled across it back in 2019, only a couple months after they opened, we've made it our go-to local boba shop. I like my boba drinks quite simple, and being dairy free also limits my options. I nearly always get the classic black or green bubble tea sweetened with honey, with less ice and 30-50% sugar. The bubbles are a good chewy texture, never over cooked, and slightly but not overly sweet like Kung Fu Tea's. Without fail, the Tall Man gets a taro milk tea or smoothie ("tea" isn't quite the right term, since there's zero tea thus zero caffeine) with mango popping boba. A creamy winner that's less sweet than competitors'. They also sell ice cream (typical flavors, although I wish they would offer Chinese/Taiwanese ones like taro and matcha) and used to have cake, but I haven't seen the pastries lately. A couple things to note: - The owner is very kind and runs the place with her family. At times she's the only one there, though. If there's a wait (mostly gaggles of high school students), be patient, and she'll get your order right. - Over the years, I've learned not to show up in the first 30 minutes after opening, to ensure that the boba is ready (the tapioca balls need to be cooked, then sweetened and preferably cooled down). It's possible the owner has changed her preparations since the early years, but this is now an engrained habit of mine so I haven't been there early enough to verify. - Not open on Mondays, including holidays that happen to be Mondays (like this year's July 4th).

They have a large variety of flavors. Taro Smootie with boba and 50% sugar is my favorite. We…read moreoften order Red Bean, Almond, and Mango with 50% sweet and boba.

We ended up getting two strawberry cream mochi, one mango cream mochi, and the mango pomelo sago. The sago was definitely on the expensive side for the portion, but it absolutely hit the spot and satisfied the craving. The mochi was the real star. The outer layer was soft, chewy, and pillowy, while the filling was light, creamy, and not overly sweet. The strawberry cream mochi tasted fresh and delicate, and the mango version was rich, fruity, and refreshing. Each one felt like biting into a little cloud. The mango pomelo sago was creamy and packed with mango flavor, making for a nice contrast to the mochi. Not exactly an everyday treat given the prices, but for a special craving, it was worth the drive and I'd happily come back.

The overall vibe is peaceful enough for a work session or a long conversation without feeling like you are occupying a table you should give up. The drinks hold up well across the menu. The passion fruit green tea is the order most people gravitate toward, refreshing and bright with a natural tartness that works particularly well over ice. The taro milk tea is another reliable pick, creamy and subtly sweet in the way a good taro should be, and the passionfruit yogurt slush is worth trying if you want something more textural and fruit forward. The star boba is a fun alternative to standard pearls with a mild fruity flavor that works well in the lighter tea options, and the herbal jelly is worth specifying if you want a less sweet, more earthy addition to the cup. The staff is consistently warm and genuinely helpful in steering you toward something you will enjoy if you are unsure where to start on the menu. The baristas take recommendations seriously rather than defaulting to generic suggestions, and that kind of engagement makes a difference at a spot you might visit regularly. The space is well kept and the overall energy stays relaxed even when the seating area fills up. For a boba shop in Davis Square that delivers on both quality drinks and a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere, Gong Cha is a standout.
