I don't know if Barisimo serves food, but their coffee game is legit. In fact, half of the storefront is set aside for processing beans. When I went, the service was very friendly and casual. The ambience is that of an independently owned coffee shop with lots of plants. They have a couple of picnic tables outside on Mass Ave for enjoying your beverages. This is a bonus for people who don't want to sit inside during the germy seasons. It's also good for people watching if you like that sort of thing (& I do!).

Please post your erratic hours on your website. Thanks.

Think of this place as a roastery that sort-of-kind-of is a retail business too. Their retail operation is half-hearted and inconsistent. There are no hours posted on their website! Not on home page; not on Locations page. Yelp said they closed at 4 PM, so I drove across town on a busy day only to find a sign in the window saying that they're open 9-2. Bruh. I can buy excellent coffee beans online from roasteries elsewhere in the country, so I don't need this hassle in the name of buying local. Half the time their best and most popular coffees (beans) are out of stock even though they are in stock on their website and they roast the coffee at this location. Huh?

    I am a macchiato.

No frills. Yes espresso. Actually, I had a macchiato and stood transfixed in this minimalist hole-in-the-wall, staring at the roasting machine that takes center stage. Its like being in a laundry mat: you stand there and watch the coffee spin around and around and around.

I'm originally from Boston. After spending the last three years in San Francisco and traveling to both Portland and Seattle on numerous occasions, I've had the pleasure of learning what great coffee really tastes like. Stumptown Roasters, Ritual Roasters, Four Barrels, Blue Bottle, Sightglass Coffee, Cole Coffee... I've been spoiled by the easy-access to the good stuff. Here's a tip Bostonians, Dunkin Donuts is not good. There, I said it. Barismo has FINALLY brought exceptional coffee to Boston. They geek out about it, they do pour overs and roast their beans on site. They take the time, speak with you and determine what it is you like. It's obvious they are passionate about what they do. Buy some beans and they'll explain how to make it properly at home. And... now that it cost $1.50 for a crappy cup of coffee at DD, do yourself a favor... spend a few extra quarters and try a cup. Oh, and drink it straight before adding milk. You'll be surprised by the taste and aroma. Barismo, I hope you are starting a trend in the Northeast. You can rest assured each time I come home for a visit, or if I happen to move back, I will be frequenting your establishment often!

Excellent cold brew coffee. Definitely worth stopping in just for a 1.5 liter bag of cold brew. So good I don't use sweetener.

smaller size cups help me to enjoy the coffee slower as their shots are some of the best in the Boston area.

I can honestly say it's one of the best little cafes we've ever visited. I had never tried ube before, and for anyone unfamiliar like I was, it's a purple yam. I ordered the Banana brulee Cold Foam, and it was incredibly refreshing and packed with the perfect blend of flavors, topped with fresh bananas. It was absolutely delicious! The bread completely surprised me. It was evenly baked, incredibly moist, and somehow crafted to pure perfection. The ice cream was a treat as well, but honestly, everything we tried was phenomenal. We can't wait until our next trip to Massachusetts just so we can enjoy a few more bites. I also loved the purple theme throughout the cafe, although maybe I'm a little biased since purple happens to be my birthstone! One of my favorite touches was the owners' book, where you can see pictures and learn more about their story. It really adds a personal touch to the experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we would definitely recommend this place for a quick snack, dessert, or beverage. There is some temporary street parking available as well. If you're in the area, Kuya Jay's Ube Cafe is absolutely worth a visit!

The wait wasn't too bad and the menu had a good selection of ube flavored drinks and treats. The spot is located in this public space with nice lighting and some seating. The area also does cooking classes and has some areas to study. I actually got two drinks to try both and they were tasty - not amazing, but not bad given the price. Overall, I didn't mind the experience, but I have seen some troubling things online regarding permits that deter me from coming back unfortunately. Drinks tasted fine though!

The people are always smiling and although dogs are not allowed but they do let you in with your buddy for picking up orders. I've even popped into the photobooth on a quiet day, which was a fun experience. Today I ordered ahead and found a seat near the back. I went up to the pickup counter a few minutes before the estimated pickup time and watched as people got their orders. A few minutes after my pickup time when the rush died down a little (order status was still pending), I still didn't hear my name or see my strawberry lemonade and bagel sandwich on the counter so I checked in with an employee. I gave them my name and the employee gestured to a hot latte. It obviously wasn't my order so I asked again if there was an order for Deborah and again, the employee rather impatiently insisted that the latte was mine. I had to clarify my name again before they finally took a look at a bagel that had been sitting right in front of them. They didn't even apologize and said something about someone else taking my strawberry lemonade before finally making me my drink. My drink was good but my sandwich was lukewarm. Weird interaction that left a bad taste. I've never had a strong reason to come back to Diesel but I now have a reason to stay away.
