I needed to kill time while my son was taking a driving lesson in Winchester. It's not really worth driving home to sit there for 15 minutes and I'll drive back to pick him up. Decided to stop into the local caffe Nero in Winchester. As far as chain goes, this is a very small location, but still retains the airy industrial eclectic feel of a warehouse filled with combination of rustic furniture and your grandparents antique stuffed chairs and a fireplace that belongs in a log cabin. I like to say it still has cozy vibes and is conducive to enjoying a lengthy conversation with your friends. There were two people at the counter and the one who served me was polite, but also seemed pretty tired. I am guessing I arrived at the end of her long holiday Monday shift. I did not stop her from making my oatmilk matcha latte with love and artistry. I know countertop with my laptop and free Wi-Fi with USB ports and electric sockets available for free (or for the price of a coffee or tea). It's loud in here, but I will put in my headphones and get into flow until I need to pick my son up. Thank you, Caffè Nero. This is exactly what I needed. read more

Cafe Nero is a little overpriced. Thirteen dollars for a 16oz latte and an almond croissant stands out, especially when The Bagel Bar across the street would charge roughly half. I understand that prices are what they are now, but it's still something you notice. Even so, I stopped in, and overall, I'm glad I did. The almond croissant was genuinely very good. The almond flavor was present and clear without being overpowering or overly sweet, which is harder to pull off than it sounds. It tasted fresh and well-made, not like an afterthought sitting under glass all day. The sugar-free caramel latte was also solid--creamy, rich, and well-balanced. It didn't taste watered down or overly artificial, which can sometimes happen with sugar-free syrups. The atmosphere lands somewhere between calm and busy. There's a steady hum of low conversation, the usual coffeehouse music quietly filling the space, and dim lighting that feels intentional rather than gloomy. It's comfortable and relaxed, the kind of place where you can sit, read, think, or pretend to get work done without feeling rushed. The staff was friendly, efficient, and knew what they were doing. Ordering was quick and easy, with no confusion or awkward pauses. There's a good selection of standard coffee shop food--sandwiches, croissants, pastries, power bars, and other small bites--nothing groundbreaking, but enough variety to find something that works. Overall, it's a pleasant and reliable experience. Not especially memorable, but consistently good, comfortable, and well-run. We are moving to Winchester and I was excited to see caffe Nero in town. As we approached the caffe, I noticed the front doors were filthy with fingerprints everywhere (sun was hitting the glass). Did not bode well. My cortado was fine and then I made the mistake of using the bathroom. Beyond filthy and it was not an end of the day mess, it was this bathroom hasn't been cleaned in months mess. Filthy toilet with the outside bottom part covered in black gunk. I don't think that room has had a deep clean in a very, very long time. It was really gross and I'm sad to not be able to go there. Once we move in March I'll stop by to see the condition but I honestly think that is an unhealthy restaurant. Please clean it up! I would like to come back. read more

Solid coffee shop in Winchester center. Lots of options for hot coffee and teas. It's PSL season so I got that which was really good a smooth. The pastries at the counter can be warmed up on request and are good. Lots of seating inside! read more

I love the area this is in which is why I stopped by. There were a lot of tables and good wifi. Although the table on the front window has a pretty decent draft. The latte was good as always. We tried the crumb cake and that was also great. The staff was friendly which is always a bonus when it's early in the morning. Would defiantly come back to study because it's nice and quiet. read more

I've been to several locations. The service is excellent. The food is great. The flavored coffee are great. I just had for the first time matcha. To me it tasted like white chocolate. I don't think I'd go get a matcha from any place else. read more

After standing at the counter, with no one else in line) when two baristas couldn't stop chit chatting amongst themselves, I left for the Starbucks (where I was quickly served by a cheerful barista) across the street. Some improvement in customer service approach maybe in order for Caffe Nero staff. Go across the street to Starbucks until they improve. read more

The service here is very slow. Like, painfully slow to the point where it seems like someone is playing a joke on you. Last Wednesday there were two baristas behind the counter making drinks and plating food so slowly that I had to resist the urge to hop over the counter to make my own latte, and a third barista was behind the counter literally just staring at a wall holding a coffee cup. I guess the slow pace at Caffè Nero is just part of the experience, so if you have high blood pressure and you're in a rush, visit Starbucks or Dunks to get caffeinated. Slow service aside, this is a good coffee shop if you want a place to sit down with your laptop to get work done or if you need a place for an informal meeting. There's always a good amount of seating available when I've gone on Sunday afternoons or weekdays around lunch. The volume level is pretty low - people keep their conversations quiet, and I've never seen folks with strollers hanging out in there, so the loudest thing you'll hear is the buzzer for the microwave or the coffee grinder. One thing I've noticed that is kind of odd to me etiquette-wise is that people will come into Nero for meetings and not buy anything. Maybe this is just a Winchester thing, but it's weird that the staff doesn't care. read more

Came here twice in recent days and the people "working" behind the counter were talking to each other the whole time. Customers were waiting in a huge line and nobody behind the counter even looked at us. Also they were very rude to customers. Stay away! read more

Love the new cafe Nero in Winchester center (no, I'm not an employee;). They have a much better atmosphere then across the street, tastier sandwiches (and way more fresh) as well as delicious pastries. Kinda stuck: Don't want it to become jammed and miserable like Starbucks, but want it to be successful in downtown too so I can keep coming. Good luck! read more

Don't use the app. At least not at this store. After telling me the app failed to work I paid cash for my order. 2 minutes later the app notified me that I was charged for my meal. The store refused to do anything after double charging me except telling me to the app to complain. read more

I was glad to see Cafe Nero finally came to the town and expect to see the coffee to be as good as other Cafe Nero locations. But the coffee here was really not good. It felt like the barista that served me does not know how to make latte: it was basically a big pile of over-frothed milk form piled on top of espresso. read more

Went to caffe nero this morning and saw sign outside of a latte frappe. The picture made it look like a frozen drink instead it was just a latte with extra cold milk. not a frozen drink at all. Was really looking forward to any icy drink since it was a warm summer day and the picture is what made me want it! Also got a bacon and cheese croissant it was just ok nothing special. read more

Great staff and space. Issue here is that all of their food contains pork. They put ham or bacon in everything, except for a turkey bologna. Many Jews and Muslims in Winchester, you need to accommodate if you want to serve everyone.. also sticking bacon in everything is so unoriginal. read more

Love Caffè Nero. The staff is super friendly and they make the drinks quick as they can. I saw the sign for the new smoothies which was honey matcha and the avocado banana smoothies. I tried the avocado banana smoothies and it's sooooo good. I've been going here more when I'm in Winchester instead of across the street although I love Starbucks too. read more
